MITCHELL, Ga. -- Mr. Robert Bean, 73, of 4373 Macon Highway, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta.

Graveside services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday in the Bean Family cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery with Nana Bassaw officiating.

Mr. Bean, a native of Avondale, W.Va., was a retired Army colonel and was a veteran of World War II and the Vietnam War. He served in Normandy during World War II and received three Purple Hearts. He also served in Puerto Rico, Europe, France, Korea and two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the Retired Officers Association.

Survivors include three sons, Larry A. Bean, Big Pine Key, Fla., Barry R. Bean, Warrenton, and Lynn Bean, Jewell; one brother, R.C. Bean, Eugene, Ore.; three sisters, Mary Bean, Eugene, Bobbie Sue Tullock, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Darcus Bean, Clewiston, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of the military.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at James and Lowe Funeral Home, Warrenton.

Mrs. Anna Berry

Mrs. Anna Story Berry, 67, of 1446 Johns Road, died Friday, May 1, 1998, at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, Ala.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue, with the Rev. Earl Saxon officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown.

Mrs. Berry, a native of Alabama, was a beautician and a member of Lake Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include one brother, Val Story, Opelika.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Willing Workers Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Esther Burnett

THOMSON -- Mrs. Esther Mae Benning Burnett, 52, of 239 Betsy Branch Drive, died Friday, May 1, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Mount Aldred Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Warren County, with the Revs. Sylvester Moore and Marvin Gibson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Burnett, a native of McDuffie County, was a machine operator and a member of Mount Aldred Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Erica McNair, Thomson; her father, Davis Benning, Thomson; eight brothers, John Benning, Ricardo Brown, Ronald Brown, Dean Brown, Eddie Brown, Patrick Brown and Stephen Brown, all of Atlanta, and Willie Brown, Augusta; five sisters, Sondra McCord, Hattie Hart and Brenda Brown, all of Thomson, Gladys Stephens, LaGrange, and Martha McCord, Atlanta; and one grandchild.

Friends may call at the residence or at Thomson Funeral System.

Mr. Harvest Butler Sr.

Retired custodian

AIKEN -- Mr. Harvest Butler Sr., 83, of 1039 Butler Circle, died Thursday at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Science Hill Baptist Church, Edgefield County, with the Rev. J.T. Tate officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Butler, a native of Edgefield County, had retired from the Aiken County School System as a custodian with Aiken Junior High School. He was a member of Science Hill Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir and served as president of the usher board.

The family said he fulfilled his lifetime duties and responsibilities through service within the church and community.

Survivors include one daughter, Laura Francis Butler, Washington; one sister, Mattie Bell Jennings, Edgefield; and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

Friends may call at 1039 Butler Circle; at the residence of Rose Butler, 1043 Butler Circle; or at 1:30 p.m. today at B.L. Brightharp Funeral Home.

Mrs. Crystal Cannon

Mrs. Cannon, a native of Greenwood, S.C., was a homemaker and a caretaker at Camp Linwood Hayne, Boy Scouts Council 93. She was a member of Solomon's Faith Fellowship.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Ray Cannon; one daughter, Tara Blanchard, Waynesboro; her father, Gerald H. Morgan, Grovetown; her mother, Gerry Morgan, Augusta; her stepmother, Janice Morgan, Grovetown; three brothers, Burt Hutto and Gene Hutto, both of Modoc, S.C., and Dale Hutto, Augusta; two sisters, Angie Slaughter and Reba Reeves, both of Augusta; and one grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road.

Mr. Frank Creech Jr.

RIDGE SPRING, S.C. -- Mr. Frank Ben Creech Jr., 55, of 4664 N. Columbia Highway, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Zion Fair Baptist Church, New Ellenton, with the Revs. Bruce Wright and Levi Chavous officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Creech, a native of Barnwell County, had retired and was a member of Old Rosemary Baptist Church, Kline.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Oakman Creech; three sons, Durham B. Creech and Gabriel Creech, both of Ridge Spring, and Frank Ben Creech III, Aiken; two daughters, Jewell ``Tina" Derrick and Tara D. Creech, both of Ridge Spring; four brothers, Donise Creech, Jim Creech and William H. Creech, all of Boston, and Willie James Creech, Aiken; one sister, Sallie L. Carter, Aiken; and 12 grandchildren.

Ms. Mary Ferrell Cunningham, 75, of 724 Greene St., died Friday, May 1, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Mann Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Colin Dacus officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Ms. Cunningham, a native of Burlingame, Calif., was a homemaker and a member of Mann Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and Gleaners Sunday School Class. She was director of the Singing Saints choir at St. John's Towers and a member of Christian Women's Club, the Greater Augusta Bulldog Club and the Peach State Chapter of Sweet Adelines. She was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Robert B. Cunningham and Christopher Cunningham, both of Augusta; one brother, Franklin Ferrell, Garden City, Calif.; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Dukes, Hugo Dukes, Benny Dukes, John P. Smith, Randy Harrison and Bill D'Antignac.

Memorials may be made to Mann Memorial United Methodist Church, 2705 Milledgeville Road, Augusta, GA 30904.

The Rev. Dent, a native of Richmond County, was a minister and an Army veteran. He was a member of Second Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Harlem, and a pastor of Langston Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Rogers Dent; two sons, Charles Dent Jr. and Scharles Dent, both of Philadelphia; three daughters, Denis Askew and Vellicia Cross, both of Philadelphia, and Donna Davis, Jacksonville, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Pathenia Adams, Thomson, and Tabatha Hodges, Macon; and 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
