GREENSBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Gordon Lenwood Merritt Jr., 84, of 4161 Walker Church Road, died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Walker United Methodist Church with the Revs. Wayne Usry and Rick Maeser officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Merritt, a native of Greene County, owned and operated a sawmill and dairy farm, and had worked in the dairy business for 30 years. He was a member of Walker United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Maizell Powell Merritt; two sons, Lester R. Merritt Sr. and Melvin T. Merritt, both of Greensboro; a daughter, Hilda M. Jackson, Siloam; and 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be George Boswell, Cotton Boswell, Bob Leach, Cecil Powell, Doyle Merritt and Ceils Merritt.

Friends may call at McCommons Funeral Home.

Mrs. S. Lynne Phillips

Mrs. S. Lynne Phillips, of 2483 Reese Ave., died Saturday, May 3, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Rev. Winston Collins officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Phillips, a native of Augusta, was a homemaker.

Her family said she was a beloved mother and wife and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and everyone who knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne M. Phillips; a son, Joseph ``Joey" M. Phillips, Augusta; a daughter, Lindsey Anne Phillips, Augusta; her parents, Leon Balkcum and Hazel Balkcum, Augusta; two brothers, Michael Lee Balkcum and Jason Leon Balkcum, both of Augusta; and three sisters, Sherry Ann Sealey, Dale Celise Meyers and Susan Yvonne Thurman, all of Augusta.

Pallbearers will be Jason Balkcum, Robert Salter, Dempsey Phillips, Ronald Scott, David Lawton, Chris Phillips and Ronnie Lazar.

Memorials may be made to the Lynne Phillips Memorial Trust on behalf of Joey and Lindsey Phillips c/o First Union Bank, Peach Orchard Road.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vivian Pye

PEMBROKE, Ga. -- Mrs. Vivian Morgan Braswell Pye, 87, died Sunday, May 31, 1998.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church, Stilson, with the Rev. James Dukes and Spencer Moore and George Daunhauer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Pye, a native of Bulloch County, had lived in Pembroke for more than two years. She was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Timothy Arthur ``Jack" Pye, Hanahan, S.C.; three daughters, Eyvonne Carruthers, Statesboro, Sue Edwards, Fernandina, and Charlotte Winters, Pembroke; a sister, Sara Lou Hollingsworth, Statesboro; and 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Joiner-Shepard Funeral Home, Statesboro.

Mrs. Mary Sease

EHRHARDT, S.C. -- Mrs. Mary Carter Sease, 84, of Route 1, died Friday, May 29, 1998, in Columbia.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. St. Luke United Methodist Church with the Rev. Benjamin Webb officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Sease, a native of Bamberg County, was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Jones and Luetisha Jamison, both of Columbia; a brother, William ``Buster" Carter, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mr. George Stone, 65, of 724 Greene St., Apt. 313, died Friday, May 29, 1998, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pine Hill Baptist Church, Louisville, with the Rev. Andrew Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Stone, a native of Jefferson County, had retired from the Medical College of Georgia, and was a former employee of Bush Field Airport. He volunteered in the Foster Grandparents program of Richmond County. He was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Stone; a son, Dwayne Lawrence Stone Sr., Augusta; two sisters, Marlene Herrington, Augusta, and Carrie Mann, Amityville, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be cousins.

Friends may call at the residence of Marlene Herrington, 2347 Dublin Road, or after 1 p.m. today at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home.

AIKEN -- Mrs. Pearle Heath Timmerman, 94, of 123 Dupont Drive, died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Timmerman, a native of Aiken County, was a member of the Women's American Legion. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Union.

Survivors include a brother, Geddings Heath, Aiken; and two sisters, Etta Heath, Aiken, and Kathleen Frandsen, Atlanta.

Pallbearers will be Raymond A. Marks Jr., Carroll G. Heath, C.E. Heath, Kenneth Heath, Chris Padgett and Guy Padgett.

Mrs. Bonin, a native of Worcester, had retired from the city of Worcester as city messenger. She was a Roman Catholic.

Survivors include a son, Brandt Bonin, Augusta; a brother, Henry Belch, Clearwater, Fla.; two sisters, Sue Suskey and Connie Power, both of Worcester; and two grandchildren.
