Mrs. Mattie Louise Hardy, 87, of 2012 Starnes St., died Wednesday, June 3, 1998, at University Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Rodger Murchison officiating.

Mrs. Hardy, a native of Dearing, was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta, where she was a member of the Gleaner's Bible Class.

Survivors include two sons, Henry F. Hardy and Robert E. Hardy, both of Augusta; one daughter, Clair Hardy Goen, Grovetown; and 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, c/o Mattie L. Hardy, 3500 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30909.

Friends may call at the residence of Clair Goen, 4851 Wrightsboro Road, Grovetown.

Mr. Houston Leslie

CRAWFORDVILLE, Ga. -- Mr. Houston Leslie, 70, of 5735 Lower Mill Road, died Tuesday, June 2, 1998, at Wills Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Cecil Gresham officiating. Burial will be in Leslie Family cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Raytown.

Mr. Leslie, a native of Taliaferro County, was a member of Friendship Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

Survivors include one brother, Milton Leslie; and one sister, Sallie Kennedy.

Pallbearers will be T.J. Cowan, Quentia Leslie, Calvin Leslie, Rodriguez Vann and Earl Banks.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Hughes and Turner Funeral Home.

Mrs. Clyde Mealor

Retired teacher

DANIELSVILLE, Ga. -- Mrs. Clyde Anthony Burroughs Mealor, 98, of Route 1, died Monday, June 1, 1998.

The funeral was Wednesday at Danielsville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Cheryl Maxfield officiated. Burial was in Friendship Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Mealor, a native of Madison County, was a retired teacher with the Madison County Board of Education and was involved in various community activities. She was a 1918 graduate of Georgia College of Milledgeville and was a member of Danielsville United Methodist Church, Georgia Education Association, Womens Society of Christian Service and a lifetime honorary member of the Women's Missionary Society.

Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Christine Gordon Burroughs, Danielsville; one granddaughter, Jan Burroughs Loftis, North Augusta; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dan Patillo, David Burroughs, Spratt Bullock, George Strickland, Jack Hardman and Stiles Hopkins.

Memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery or Danielsville United Methodist Church.

Mr. Jeff Owens

BURKE COUNTY, Ga. -- Mr. Jeff Allen Owens, 33, died Tuesday, June 2, 1998.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Rev. Marion Jay officiating. Burial will be in Prickett Family cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Owens, a native of Augusta, was an industrial painter with Georgia Carolina Painting Co. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Owens, North Augusta; his mother, Mary P. Owens, Blythe; and three brothers, Michael T. Owens, Atlanta, Jerry W. Owens, Youngsville, N.C., and Eddy D. Owens, Augusta.

Pallbearers will be his cousins.

Mr. Jose Perez

Truck driver

Mr. Jose Thomas Perez, of 469 Boy Scout Road, died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at University Hospital.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Emmett Johnson officiating.

Mr. Perez, a native of Puerto Rico, was a truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Perez; two sons, Jose Perez and Onyx Perez; two daughters, Sherena Alexis Perez and Mahogany Perez, both of Augusta; his mother, Rosa Santiago, Hephzibah; two brothers, Hector Perez and Junior Perez; and three sisters, Tomasa Colon Johnson, Hephzibah, and Marie Santiago and Maru Perez.

Mrs. Johnnie Mae Rusher

Mrs. Johnnie Mae Rusher, 66, of 733 E. Chapman St., died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Greenwood Baptist Church, Crawfordville, with the Rev. Jimmy Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mrs. Rusher, a native of Crawfordville, was a homemaker and a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Willie Mac Douglas Jr. and Jerry Douglas, both of Augusta; three daughters, Willie Ruth Seals, Sharon, Rosa Mae Hambrick, New York, and Betty Smith, Athens; one brother, Walter Derrico, Middletown, Ohio; and two sisters, Lenora Derrico and Doretha Scott, both of Crawfordville.

Pallbearers will be her cousins.

Mrs. Katherine F. Schuster, 93, of 2954 Foxhall Circle, died Wednesday, June 3, 1998, at Windermere Nursing Home.

Private graveside services will be in Forkston cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery, Forkston, Pa.

Mrs. Schuster, a native of Stevensville, Pa., was a retired schoolteacher and a member of Stevensville Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Tuscarora and College Hill chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters and Founders of American Patriots, New England Women, Daughters of American Colonists, Park Society, Augusta Genealogical Society, Clan Munro, Clan Keith, Order of the Eastern Star and University Women.

Survivors include one son, Richard L. ``Chip" Schuster, Augusta; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Second Mount Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Andy Thornton officiating. Burial will be in Southview cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was retired from Macy's Department Store and was a member of Second Mount Moriah Baptist Church, where she was a member of the senior choir, Past Pastors Aid Club, and the missionary society, and was active in the Sunday school.

Survivors include one sister, Louise Darrian, Augusta.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary, Swainsboro, with the Rev. Kelmer Durden officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Primitive Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Smith, a native of Richmond County, was a Baptist.

Survivors include his father, Curtis Smith, Nunez; his mother, Peggy J. Clymer, Port Charlotte, Fla.; two brothers, Charles C. Smith, Adrian, and Marty A. Smith, Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Charlene J. David, Nunez; and his maternal grandparents, Dewey M. Fortescue and Pearline Wyrick, Nunez.

Pallbearers will be Blake Hooks, Danny Hooks, Mark Durden, Cranford Smith, Perry Smith and David Smith.

Mr. Solsberry, a native of Jenkins County, was a retired custodian and a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Ward Leader and Seven Star Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mae Ann Solsberry; one son, Eddie R. Solsberry, Millen; one daughter, Eddiestine DuBose, Augusta; one brother, Thomas Solsberry, Millen; one sister, Ollie Mae Golf, Millen; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Henry Young, L.C. Burroughs, Andrew Brown, Freddie Griffin, Roosevelt Martin and Charles Bennett.

Miss Williams, a native of Graniteville, was a retired bookkeeper with Graniteville Co. and a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sisters, Louise W. Winter, Margie W. West and Gladys Carpenter, all of Graniteville.
