Mr. Thomas Ball

Mr. Thomas F. Ball, 82, of 765 Oxford Road, died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at his residence.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. Robert Fain officiating.

Mr. Ball, a native of Dallas, was a retired U.S. Army colonel.

He served in World War II and in the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He was a recipient of the Legion of Merit, with two Oak Leaf Clusters and a Bronze Star, with one Oak Leaf Cluster.

He was a member of the Retired Officer's Association.

He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, where he was on the vestry and was a junior warden. He attended the University of Maryland.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Summer Ball; two sons, Thomas W. Ball, Redwood City, Calif., and Carlton F. Ball, Nashville, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 2230 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904.

The family will receive friends at the Church of the Good Shepherd Parish House from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

Elliott Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Douglas Bowes

Retired chef

LINCOLNTON, Ga. -- Mr. Douglas E. Bowes, 57, of 181 School St., died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington.

Services will be at a later date.

Mr. Bowes, a native of Greenport, N.Y., was a retired chef.

Survivors include his wife, Sally P. Bowes; two daughters, Joan Farrand, Long Island, N.Y., and Sally Corbett, Lincolnton; one sister, Susan Bowes, Long Island, and six grandchildren.

Beggs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Troy Carroll Sr.

Retired supervisor

Mr. Troy E. ``Pa" Carroll Sr., 87, of 1916 Starnes St., died Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at Windermere Health Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Carroll, a native of Metter, Ga., was a retired shift foreman and supervisor with Graniteville Mills, Sibley Division.

He was a member of Central Baptist Church.

The family said he was very devoted to his family and church.

Survivors include one son, Troy E. ``Buddy" Carroll Jr., Augusta; three daughters, Mildred Lowman, Augusta, Pauline Sauls, Grovetown, and Betty Lou Rowe, Waynesboro, Ga.; and 21 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robert ``Eddie" Carroll, Michael Kelly, Donnie Barton, Troy Rowe, Danny Seigler, Michael A. Carroll, Kerry Moyer, Dannie Barton and Marvin ``Eugene" Rowe.

Honorary pallbearers will be Central Baptist Church Deacons.

Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 3006 Richmond Hill Road, Augusta, GA 30906.

Platt's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Phyllis Davis

Mrs. Phyllis Davis, 80, of 4104 Serendipity Court, Martinez, died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at Columbia Augusta Medical Center.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. today at Poteet Funeral Home, Wheeler Road.

Mrs. Davis, a native of Augusta, was a homemaker and a Protestant.

Survivors include one son, Anthony Francis Davis, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Pixie Cooper, Grovetown, and Kathryn Antoinette Davis, Atlanta; one brother, Phillip Goodwin, St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dorothy Dunsmore

LINCOLNTON, Ga. -- Mrs. Dorothy Wright Dunsmore, 80, of 1751 Nethania Farm Road, died Friday, June 26, 1998, at her residence.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Church of the Mediator Episcopal Church, Washington, Ga., with the Rev. Bill Boyd officiating.

Mrs. Dunsmore, a native of Philadelphia, was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Mediator Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Edythe Black Episcopal Church Women.

Survivors include her husband, John William Dunsmore Sr.; two sons, John William Dunsmore Jr., Lincolnton, and Arthur Wright Dunsmore, Wharton, N.J.; one sister, Janet Wright Hind, Maplewood, N.J.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 54327 Atlanta, GA 30308; St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904, or Church of the Mediator Episcopal Church, 212 East Robert Toombs Avenue, Washington, GA 30673.

Mrs. Lucille McAdams

Central State Hospital retiree

HARLEM, Ga. -- Mrs. Lucille Brady McAdams, 85, died Tuesday, June 30, 1998.

The funeral was Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Moores Funeral Home.

Burial was in McIntyre Baptist Church cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mrs. McAdams, a native of Wilkinson County, was a retired employee of Central State Hospital.

She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Larry McAdams, Gordon, and Charles McAdams, Irwinton; two daughters, Betty Durshimer, Martinez, and Shirley Allen, McIntyre; two brothers, J.A. Brady, Milledgeville, and J.T. Brady, McIntyre; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Walter Priester Jr.

ALLENDALE, S.C. -- Mr. Walter Priester Jr., 80, of Route 1 Box 11, died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at Meadow Brook Health Care Center, Blackville.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Ulmer, with the Rev. Henry Murdaugh officiating.

Burial will be in Hayes cemetery" target="_blank">Cemetery.

Mr. Priester, a native of Allendale County, was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Roosevelt Priester and John Brant, both of Allendale, and Jerry Brown, Barnwell; nine daughters, Maedrue Grant, Annette Flowers, Annie Bell Priester, Earline Priester, Juanita Patterson and Jeanette Brown, all of Allendale, Beverly J. Priester, Varnville, Susie Priester, Rochester, N.Y., and Adrine Parrish, Jersey City, N.J. Also surviving are a foster brother, William H. Gadson, Allendale; one sister, Earline Greiger, Columbia; 32 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. John Robinson

Mr. John Robinson, 82, of 241 W. Five Notch Road, died Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at Beverly Manor.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Kemp officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery" target="_blank">cemetery.

Mr. Robinson, a native of Edgefield County, was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Fannie Key, Jamaica, N.Y.; one brother, William Robinson, Augusta; one sister, Rosa B. Bussey, Augusta, and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Johnson, Bettis Bussey, Wallace Mealing, Jesse Curry, David Williams Jr. and Nelson W. Curry.

Friends may call at G.L. Brightharp and Sons Mortuary.
