He was born in Torrance, Calif.

Vera C. Tyre

ALMA - Vera Cliett Tyre, 72, died June 15.

She was born in Coffee County and lived in Bacon County most of her life. She retired as a schoolteacher after 30 years. She was a member of the Retired School Teachers Association, a Sunday school teacher for many years and a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Kennon L. Tyre Sr. of Mershon; three sons, Kennon L. Tyre Jr. and Johnny P. Tyre Sr., both of Mershon, and Bradley C. Tyre Sr. of Douglas; three brothers, David W. Cliett of Thomasville, James F. Cliett Of Ellabell and Jack O. Cliett of Nicholls; three sisters, Thelma Pohl of Belton, Texas, and Rose and Wynell Adams, both of Nicholls; seven grandchildren, a great-grandchild and a stepgrandchild.

STATESBORO - George Henry Schriver, 88, died June 14 at home under hospice care.

He was a native of Manchester, Pa., and lived in Statesboro for several years. He was a retired superintendent of J.E. Baker Co.

SURVIVORS: three daughters, Barbara E. McKendrew and Dr. Martha L. Schriver, both of Statesboro, and Sara C. Slywester of Burtonsville, Md.; and six grandchildren.

BARTOW - Donald Emory Adams, 38, died June 15.

He was a native of Chatham County and lived in Washington County a number of years. He was a laboratory technician for the Burgess Pigment Co. and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Teresa Beck Adams of Bartow; two daughters, Sarah and Samantha Adams, both of Bartow; his mother, Sarah F. Frawley of Bartow; four sisters, Jackie Mitchell of Savannah, Carolyn DeWolfee of Jacksonville, Fla., Brenday Sparks of Bloomingdale and Carolyn Helms of Costman; and two brothers, Thomas Adams of Ellabell and Ralph Frawley of Waverly Hall.

Vera C. Royals

Mrs. Vera Cummings Royals, 73, died June 14 at Candler Hospital.

She was a native of Burke County and lived in Savannah most of her life. She attended Chatham County public schools and was a master cosmetologist. She was a member of the United House of Prayer for All People and sang in the Madison Jubiliars. She retired from Kemira Inc. She was a member of the Deborah Chapter No. 9, International OES.

SURVIVORS: a daughter, Veronica R. Wright of Savannah; three sons, Joseph I. Royals of Atlanta, Isadore S. Royals of Savannah and Julius A. Royals of Charlotte, N.C.; four sisters, Viola Gore of Philadelphia, Elizabeth Lloyd and Katie and Lois McMillian, all of Cleveland; three brothers, Alonza, David and Theodus McMillian, all of Cleveland; nine grandchildren, a great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

James Youmans

James "Bo" Youmans, 64, died June 14 at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born in Chatham County and retired from Georgia Ports Authority as a clerk operator after 33 years. He was a member of New Light Apostolic Faith Church, chairman of the Deacon Board and a member of the Brotherhood.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Mozelle King Youmans of Savannah; five daughters, Gail Osborne and Sheila Youmans, both of Atlanta, Blanche E. Fields, Jane D. Youmans and Lorraine Hendrix, all of Savannah; five sons, James A., Claude and John Youmans and Ricardo and Gregory King, all of Savannah; four sisters, Amy Hicks of Georgetown, Del., Gloria Fulton of Lincoln, Del., and Grace Durham and Lucille Ellison, both of Savannah; three brothers, Moses, Jessie and Roosevelt Youmans, all of Savannah; and 25 grandchildren.

JESUP - Miranda Michelle Madray, infant daughter of Michael and Tori Madray, was stillborn June 14 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center in Brunswick.

The Rev. Thomas J. German

MIAMI - The Rev. Thomas James German, 54, died June 12.

He was born in Screven County, Ga., and was a graduate of Central High School in Sylvania, Ga. He was a former member of Cypress Pond Missionary Baptist Church in Newington, Ga., and after moving to Miami joined New Born Faith Deliverance Missionary Baptist Church and served as assistant minister. He was employed by the Wall Street Journal in Miami.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Enid German of Miami; a daughter, Rhonda Ware of Alabama; a son, Ervin German of Alabama; three stepsons, Gregory, Gary and Gavin Sams, all of Miami; five sisters, Mildred Bryant, Lucy Gibbons, Mintoria Bradley and Gladys Willis, all of Savannah, and Ruby Hall of Miami; two brothers, the Rev. Donald J. German and the Rev. Jonah E. German, both of Savannah; a granddaughter, a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

METTER - Armetta Pullen George, 85, died June 12 at Metter Nursing Home.

She was born in Bulloch County and lived in Candler County most of her life. She taught school in the Candler County school system for several years in a one-room setting. She was a member of Sam's Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Sam's Creek Missionary Society, Rose Metter Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 249 and the WMBS in Aline.

SURVIVORS: two stepsons, Stine P. George of Moultrie and William E. George Jr. of Metter; a stepdaughter, Margaret L. Jackson of Augusta; two daughters-in-law, Doris S. George of Moultrie and Ruthie M. George of Metter; an aunt, Linnie Holland; a niece, Betty Whitaker of Atlanta; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

WASHINGTON - Hardy Bell Michael Jr., 53, died June 14 at home.

He was born in Savannah and attended A.E. Beach High School. He was a Vietnam War veteran and lived in Washington for 35 years.

SURVIVORS: four daughters, Tonya Hyde of Texas, Vanessa Culvington and Pamela Michael, both of North Carolina, and April McPherson of Savannah; his parents, Aretha Michael and Hardy B. Michael Sr., both of Savannah; and a sister, Dorothy M. Harris of Washington.

Abbie J. Williamson

SOPERTON - Abbie Jack Williamson, 87, died June 15 at Toombs Nursing Home in Lyons.

He was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County and a farmer. He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World.

SURVIVORS: a daughter and son-in-law, Carroll and Wyndell Standard of Soperton; a brother, Herman Williamson of Lyons; three grandchildren, David and Jeffery Standard, both of Vidalia, and Alyssa Standard of Soperton; two great-grandchildren, Sydnee and Abigail Standard, both of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a Tattnall County native and longtime resident of Glennville. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Harmony United Methodist Church.

Gracie Lee Martin Wakefield, 89, died June 15 at Candler Hospital.

She was a native of Beckley, W. Va., and a resident of Savannah for 11 years. She attended public schools in Franklin County, W.Va., and Martinsville, W.Va. She was a member of Matthews AME Church in Beckley and a member of the Missionary Society and the church choir.

SURVIVORS: several cousins, including Farnese Lumpkin of Savannah; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Bernice Aline J. Denton, 87, died June 15 at Baptist Village Nursing Home.

She was a lifelong resident of Ware County, the widow of Gilbert L. Denton, and a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a former teacher of Suzannah Wesley Sunday School Class and a member of Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was a member of Eastern Star Areme Chapter 101 and a past grand warder for the state of Georgia. She also was a member of Pythian Sisters and a past grand chief for the state of Georgia. She was a past royal matron of the Amarantha.

SURVIVORS: a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy D. and Robert Schmidt of Brewton, Ala.; a son and daughter-in-law, Gilbert L. Denton Jr. and Betty Denton of Waycross; two grandchildren and a granddaughter-in-law, Gilbert L. Denton VI and Joseph and Christie Matranga, all of Waycross; two great-grandchildren, Devan and Courtney Metranga, both of Waycross; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
