Mrs. Catherine Irwin, 45, died June 19 in Saginaw, Mich.

She was born in Savannah and worked as a deliverer. She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Willie Irwin of Reidsville; a daughter, Chianti Irwin of Savannah; four sons, Dedric, Craig and Quamelius Irwin, all of Saginaw, and Shay Irwin of Savannah; a sister, Jeannette M. Jones of Savannah; and eight grandchildren.

Daniel R. Crosby
Daniel Richard Crosby, 84, died June 24.

He was born in Palmetto Bluff, S.C., and lived in Savannah most of his life. He was an elder emeritus and lifelong member of First Christian Church of Savannah. He retired from the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in 1971. He was a veteran of World War II who served in the Coast Guard Mounted Beach Patrol. He was a member emeritus of Zerubbabel Lodge No. 15, F&AM; a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Lodge of Perfection Mason, Valley of Savannah; and a member and past president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Clyde Hendrix Crosby of Savannah; a sister, Marian C. Butler of Savannah; a brother, Dennis M. Crosby of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a godson, Gerald L. Cook; and a number of nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL: 10 a.m. today at First Christian Church of Savannah, entombment in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park Mausoleum.

She was born and educated in McIntosh County. She was a retired seafood processor. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and Bolden Home Lodge. She was an original member of the McIntosh County Shouters.

SURVIVORS: two daughters, Carletha Sullivan and Brenda Ellison, both of Bolden; five sons, David S. Ellison Jr., William E., Leroy and Michael Ellison, all of Bolden, and Jimmie L. Ellison of Meridian; two sisters, Gertie Brennon and Pearl Palmer, both of Bolden; two brothers, the Rev. Nathan Palmer of Bolden and Julius Palmer of Midway; 31 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

SOPERTON - Mrs. Iney Phillips Phillips, 84, died June 24 at Treutlen County Nursing Home.

She was born in Emanuel County and was the widow of David A. Phillips. She retired from Soperton Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church near Soperton.

SURVIVORS: a son and daughter-in-law, Wilton R. and Barbara Phillips of Stockbridge; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jimmie Sue and Carl Waller of Loganville, Janet and Bobby Cone, Patricia and Glenn Wilcher and Becky and Gerald Hooks, all of Soperton; two sisters, Lena Wright of Putnam Hall, Fla., and Wylene Smith of Garden City; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

He was born in Steubenville, Ohio, and lived in Statesboro for several years. He was a member of Historical First African Baptist Church and was a retired electrical assistant.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Elizabeth Carney of Statesboro; a stepson, William Hendley of Statesboro; a sister, Azella Johnson of Gainesville, Ohio; two brothers, Hubert and Van Carney, both of Steubenville; a granddaughter, Brenda Logan of Miami; two great-grandchildren, Leonda and Robert Logan, both of Miami; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She was born in Dixie and lived on St. Simons Island since 1961. She retired from Little St. Simons Island Resort in 1994 after 11 years of service. She was a director of Alice in Wonderland Day Care until 1974.

SURVIVORS: two daughters, Carol G. Barnes of Frog Level, Va., and Ginny G. Miller of Brunswick; a son, Virgil Griffin of Albuquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren, a great-grandson, two sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law, a grandson-in-law and four nephews.
