DORA WINTERS

Mrs. Dora Winter, 91, of Bryant, Ala., died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in a local health care facility. She was a homemaker, a member of the Bryant Methodist Church and a lifelong resident of Bryant, Ala. Mrs. Winters was preceded in death by her husband, John Winters; parents, Balt and Callie Moore. Survivors include: two sons, Rev. Wayne Winters and James Winters, both of Bryant, Ala.; one daughter, Betty Talley, Bryant, Ala.; one sister, Aileen Reeves, Bryant, Ala.; four brothers, Cecil, Jim, and Hobert Moore, all of Bryant, Ala., and Earl Moore, Sale Creek, Tenn.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 4, in Sand Mountain Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with the Rev. James Helton officiating. Interment was in Ebenezer cemetery in Bryant, Ala. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala.

DEWEY BRADFORD

Clarence Dewey Bradford, 85, a life long resident of Rising Fawn, GA passed away at his home Sunday April 8, 2001. Mr. Bradford operated Bradford's Barber Shop for 30 years, was a retired carpenter, a member of Masonic Lodge #179 for 53 years and a member and former choir director or Rising Fawn Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Lott and Sarah Allen Bradford, son, Dewey Wayne Bradford, four sisters and nine brothers. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Margaret C. Bradford, Rising Fawn; Son and daughter in law Robert Dion and Linda H. Bradford, Rising Fawn; one grandson and wife Bruce D. and Deborah Bradford, Cleveland, TN, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Chapel of Moore Funeral Home, Trenton, GA with Reverends Fred Bradford, Henry Hooper and Billy Wallace officiating. Interment was held in Hannah Cemetery, Rising Fawn, GA. Memorial Contributions may be made to Georgia Baptist Children's Home or Masonic Children's Home of Macon Georgia. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton .

OLA CRAWFORD

Mrs. Ola Belle Marshall Crawford, 90, of Covington, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in Starcrest Nursing Facility in Conyers. She was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by her parents, William Riley and Lozie O'Dell Marshall; husband, Raymond F. Crawford; a daughter, Una C. Marona; two brothers, Dennis and Amon Marshall; a sister, Lou Ann Avans. Survivors include: several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held Thursday, April 5, in Beulah Chapel cemetery in Cartersville, Ala., with the Rev. Daniel Doresk officiating. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

MARDELL CRABTREE

Janie Mardell Crabtree, 94, of Trenton, formerly of Ider, Ala., died Feb. 13 at Dade Health and Rehab. Survivors include sister-in-law Nannie Jo Crabtree, Ider, Ala.; nieces Bettye Dunwoody, Ringgold, Donna Rae McCarthy, Leonard Town, Md., Jean Holcomb, Sylvania, Ala., Anne Kelley, Harrison, Ala., Shelia Crabtree, Henagar, Ala.; nephews Eddie Crabtree, West End, N.C., Eddie Ray Ladd, Henagar, Ala., and Gary Ladd, Rainsville, Ala. Funeral services were held Feb. 14 from Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roy Gearrin officiating. Interment was in Fuller Cemetery. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Chapel, Ider, Ala.

VIRGIL COOPER

Virgil "Jaybird" Cooper, 86, of Higdon, Ala., died Feb. 12 at his residence. He was retired from Ross-Meehan Foundry after 40 years of service. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Herman and Gynell Cooper, Flat Rock, Ala., Anthony and Joyce Cooper, Keene, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law Betty and C.D. Wright, Trenton, Charolette and Iven Miles, Brenda and Edward Evans, Diona and Roy Dobbins, Aundra and Rondell Robinson, all of Higdon, Ala., Pam and Wade Evans of Bryant, Ala.; sisters, Mary DeShazo and Bertha Holland, both of Chattanooga; brothers, Chester Cooper of Orlando, Fla.; 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funerals services will be held at 2 p.m. EST today at the Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Jimmy Hixson and Edwin Spurgin officiating. Interment will follow at Higdon Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 11 a.m., until service time. Arrangements by corner Stone Funeral Chapel, Ider, Ala.

WONLEY HENDRICKS

Wonley Dale Hendricks, 70, of Ider, Ala., died Feb. 8 at his residence. Hendricks was a member of the Henagar Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by parents Homer B. and I.B. Hendricks; son Thomas Lee Hendricks; brothers Aunzle, Cobi, Charles and Emory Hendricks; sister Betty Jean Hendricks. Survivors include wife Barbara Fleming Hendricks of Ider; son and daughter-in-law Wayne Earl and Karon Hendricks of Lavonia, Mich.; daughters and son-in-laws Teresa and Rex Beaty of Ider, Lesa and Greg Millican of Pisgah, Tami and Jamie Dalton of Wake Forest, N.C.; brothers Almond and Ronald Hendricks both of Pisgah; sisters Ernestine Stallings of Chattanooga, Gail McBryar of Trenton, Bobbie Sewell of Pisgah; five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Feb. 11 in Henagar Baptist Church with the Revs. David Hairston and Winston Jenkins officiating. Interment was in Green Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

IRVIN JACKSON

Irvin L. Jackson, 66, of Flat Rock, Ala., died Feb. 7. Jackson was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Dutton, Ala. Survivors include wife of 21 years Inez Jackson of Flat Rock, Ala.; son Chris Jackson of Dallas, daughter Misty Jackson of Gretna, La., step-son Scot Hill of Trenton; step-daughter Myra Guffey of Lookout Mountain; seven grandchildren; brothers David Jackson of Flat Rock, Ala., Earley Jackson of Cleveland, Tenn., Ralph Jackson of Bryant, Ala.; sisters Shirley Higdon of Higdon, Ala., Peggy Hakes of Ringgold, Clara Whitmire of Port Arthur, Tx., Dale Wilson of Pisgah, Ala., several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with brother Raymond Blevins officiating. Interment was in Brown's Gap Cemetery. Arrangements were by Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton. CHRISTOPHER LAWSON Christopher Lee Lawson, 14, of Woodville died Feb. 7 at his residence. Survivors include parents Arvil and Catherine Lawson of Woodville; brothers Jonathan Lawson of Woodville and Timothy Lawson of Whitwell, Tenn.; sister Jennifer Lawson of Woodville. Funeral services were held Feb. 10 in the Kerby Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Norman Ingram and Jerry Justice officiating. Interment was in Green Haven cemetery at Pisgah, Ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home.

BILLY MCCARTY

Billy Ray McCarty, 72, of Flat Rock, Ala. died Feb. 8. McCarty was retired from Mississippi Valley Steel in Chattanooga. He was a cattle farmer and was of the Baptist faith. McCarty was preceded in death by wife Dorothy McCarty. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Roger and Debbie McCarty in Bryant, Ala., Larry and Lousie McCarty of Flat Rock, Ala., brother Fred McCarty of Gadsdon, Ala., grandchildren Jeremy and Phillip McCarty of Flat Rock, Ala. Funeral services were held in Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clay Moreland officiating. Interment was in Hanna Cemetery. Arrangements were by Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton.

ALBERT TINKER

Albert Roy Tinker, 70, of Pisgah, Ala., died Feb. 8 in Huntsville. Tinker was an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by parents Leroy and Lillie Bell Tinker and sister Marie Tinker. Survivors include wife Joyce Tinker of Pisgah; daughters and sons-in-law Michele and Danny Hasting of Gurley; Miranda and Luke Kennedy, Monica and Kyle Stephens and Myra Tinker all of Pisgah; brothers Billy Tinker of Columbus, Joel Tinker of Henagar, Wallace Tinker of Pisgah; sisters Dora L. Shrader of Flat Rock, Overa Gant of Pisgah, Barbara Wilson of Jacksonville; six grandchildren; step-children Elizabeth and Brooke Stephens, Katlyn and Cayde Kennedy. Funeral services were held Feb. 11 in Kerby Chapel with the Revs. Bud Durham, David Smith and Charles Jones officiating. Entombment was in Green Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

ROY OVERDEAR

Roy A. Overdear, 89, of Ider, Ala., died Feb. 6 in Fort Payne, Ala. He was preceded in death by parents Oliver and Essie Brown Overdear, wife Ollie Mae Overdear; brothers Bill, Harold, and Carl Overdear; sisters Pauline Hall, Irene Nordahl, and Lousie Dunlap. Survivors include brothers Bud Overdear of Ider, Ala., Winston Overdear of Henagar; sisters Lois Suits of Ider, Essie Bryson of Chattanooga Valley, Tenn., Dessie Kishue of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Feb. 9 in Kerby Chapel with the Rev. Benjamin Young officiating. Interment was in New Home cemetery in Pisgah. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

ROBERT WOOLBRIGHT

Robert Woolbright, 87, of Trenton died Feb. 7. Woolbright was a lifelong resident of Trenton and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was retired from Southern Centrifugal after 41 years of service He was preceded in death by parents Robert A. and Katherine Gass Woolbright, wife of 50 years Edith Woolbright; son James R. Woolbright; grandson Robert Leo York; brothers Charles Woolbright and Gilbert Price; sister Ethel Walker. Survivors include wife Vivian Woolbright of Trenton; daughter and son-in-law Linda and David Brandenurg of Rising Fawn, Carolyn York of Trenton; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; step-children Charles, David, and Johnny Cannon, Susan Heather Davis, and Bruce Turner; 13 step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Feb. 10 in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Bill Shoffner and A.C. Durham officiating. Interment was in Trenton Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

LILA MCCORD

Mrs. Lila Annie McCord, 86, Flat Rock, Ala., died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at her residence. She was born in Dutton, Ala., the daughter of Tremp and Ida Leola Fleming and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mrs. McCord was preceded in death by her husband, Albin McCord; daughter, Carolyn Guy; brother, Elmer Fleming; sister, Vernie Anderson; grandsons, Chris, Greg, and Lamar McCord. Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, T.W. and Faye McCord, Rainsville, Ala., J.W. "Bucky" and Levoda McCord, Ider, Ala.; daughter, Judy Pope, Ider, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 11, in Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Bro. O.A. Bethune officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Home in Ider, Ala.

MATTIE OTT

Mrs. Mattie Mae Ott, 77, of Trenton, died Sunday, April 8, 2001. She was a life-long resident of Sand Mountain, a homemaker and a member of the Floral Crest Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mrs. Ott was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lillie Cloud. Survivors include: husband, Henry Levoy Ott; one daughter, Teresa Sampson, Bryant, Ala.; one son, Jerry Levoy Ott, Trenton; one sister, Betty Anderton, Bryant, Ala.; three brothers, Vernon Cloud, Chattanooga, Ray Cloud, Trenton, and Claude Cloud, Jr., Murphy, N.C.; two grandchildren, Tracy Atkins, Jerry Levoy Ott Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Lowe. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 10, in Sand Mountain Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Glass officiating. Interment was in Stephens Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala.

JIMMIE BOLTON

Jimmie Jackson Bolton, 97, of Trenton died Dec. 30. She was of the Church of God faith. Throughout the years she taught Sunday School at Kellys Ferry Church of God, Avans Church of God and was later a member of General Church of God.

She was preceded in death by husband Charlie Scott Bolton; daughters Mary Fischer and Bonnie McNabb; son Paul Bolton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by sons and their wives John and Gerthal, James and Willadean and Duvol and Joyce Bolton, all of Trenton, Reece Bolton and William and Unita Bolton of Chattanooga.; daughters and husbands Ethel and Verlon Brown of Huntsville, Ala., Sue and Joe Bolton of Rossville, and Judy and Sammy Jones of Trenton; daughter-in-laws, Tina Bolton of Trenton and Neocia Bolton of Chattanooga; 35 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren; sister Mary Burton of Dayton, Tenn., and brother George Jackson of Estille Springs, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Jan. 1 in the Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Anderson and Rev. Ferrell Smith officiating.

Pallbearers were Steve Bolton, Ronnie Bolton, Bruce Nelly Jr., Lamar NcNabb, Tony Jones and Johnny Forrester.

Interment was in Sequatchie Memorial Gadens in Kimbell, Tenn.

Arrangements by Ryan Funeral Home, Trenton.

ALTON BOMIAN

Alton Glenn Bomian, 65, of Bryant, Ala., died Dec. 28. He was a lifelong resident of Bryant, was a retired potato farmer and was of the Free Holiness Faith.

He was preceded in death by parents Sam and Minnie Bomian and sisters Shirley Huey and Opal Pritchett.

Survivors include wife Linda Bomian, daughter and son-in-law Ann and Ken Harding of Stevenson, Ala., brothers Leo Bomian and Sammy Bomian of Bryant, sisters Pauline Barnes and Kathy Calloway of Bryant, grandsons Jeremy and Susan Harding and Josh Harding, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Dec. 30 in the Bryant Chapel with Brother Edwin Spurgeon officiating.

Interment was in Oak Lawn Memorial Park.

Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala.

HOUSTON MORGAN

Houston Lee Morgan, 83, of Jasper, Tenn., died Dec. 30 in Chattanooga.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law James and Joy Morgan of Jasper, Tenn.; brothers Jr. Morgan of Dearborn, Mich., and Herbert Morgan of Fort Oglethorpe; grandchildren James Troy Morgan and Lisa Lanford; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Jan. 1 in Kerby Chapel.

Interment was in Unity cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Shankles officiating.

Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

MARIE SMITH

Clara Marie Smith, 80, of Rising Fawn died Dec. 31. She was a member of the Rising Fawn United Methodist Church. She was retired from Trenton Spinning Mill.

She was preceded in death by parents W.M. and Elsie Riddle and grandson Ricky Smith.

She is survived by daughters and their husbands Becky and Ben Byer and Debby and Chris Powell, both of Trenton; son Jim Smith, Jasper, Tenn., sisters Virginia Steele, Atlanta, Betty Wallin, Rising Fawn, and Barbara Smith, Wildwood; brothers Bill and Ernie Riddle, both of Rising Fawn; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Jan. 2 in the Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mitchell Smith and Chuck Carver officiating.

Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4355 Hwy. 58, Suite 101, Chattanooga, Tenn., 37416 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
