WILLIAM CLARK

William Rice Clark, 82, of LaFayette, formerly from Rising Fawn, died Monday, Dec. 10, in a local hospital. He was a lifelong resident of north Georgia, a US Army World War II veteran and a Baptist. Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his son Billy Leon Clark. Survivors include: wife, Mamie Lee Clark; two sons, William Dee Clark, LaFayette, Jerry Lebron Clark, Cleveland, Tenn.; one daughter, Essie Delilah Hawkins, LaFayette; two brothers, I.G. Clark, Trenton Buddy Clark, Chattanooga, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held today at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Bradford officiating. Interment will follow in Hawkins Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

ALICE DURHAM

Alice M. Durham, 93, of Lookout Mountain died Saturday at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Lookout Mountain's Hinkle Community. She was a member of the Lookout Mountain Baptist Church. She attended the Payne Chapel United Methodist Church. Durham was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucinda Williams; husband, Robert E. Durham, Sr.; grandson, Thomas Thrush. Survivors include: four daughters, Hazel Neal, Rosa Lee "Jack" Veal and Shirley Jean Bull, all of Lookout Mountain, Anna Lou Hilton, Marshall, Mo; two sons, Bobby Durham, Tenton, Jim Durham, Ringgold; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Lane Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Smith and the Rev. Fred Bradford officiating. Interment was in Lakewood Memory Gardens South. Arrangements were by South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home in Rossville.

WILLA INMAN

Willa Dean Inman, 76, of Flat Rock, Ala., died Dec. 5 at her residence. She was a member of Higdon Holiness Church. Inman was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Inman; parents, C.B. and Annie Lue Culpepper; three grandchildren. Survivors include: two sons, Steve Inman, Tiftonia, Tenn., Benny Inman, Ider, Ala.; three daughters, Nannette Black, Ider, Ala., Cheryl Strickland, Chattanooga, Spring Shelton, Fall Creek Falls, Tenn.; four sisters, Betty Wilbourn, Bonifay, Fla., Shirley Boren, Bryant, Ala., Freddie Scoggin, Cartersville, Phyllis Dehart, Flat Rock, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday in Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with the Brother Edwin Spurgeon officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Home in Ider, Ala.

STELLA CARVER

Stella Carver, 86, of Wildwood died Oct. 19. She was preceded in death by husband Frank Carver and her parents. Survivors include friend Keith Bailey. Arrangements by Moore Funeral Home, Trenton

HOWARD GOTHARD

The Rev. Howard Gothard, 82, of Henagar, Ala., died Oct. 19 at his residence. Gothard was a World War II veteran and member and former pastor of Harmony Grove Baptist Church. He was a member of Ider Masonic Lodge. He is survived by wife Lorene Gothard; son Gene Gothard, South Pittsburg, Tenn.; son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Gothard, New Hope, Tenn.; daughter and son-in-law Ruby and Charles Mayo, Kimball, Tenn.; daughter Crystal Parham, Chattanooga; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; brothers James Aubrey Gothard, Bridgeport, Ala.; sisters Lillian Irene Tiffin, Bridgeport, Ala., and Susie Ivey, Union Grove, Ala. Funeral services were held Oct. 22 from Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with brothers Ben Barrentine and Kenneth Brown and fellow ministers officiating. Interment was held at Mountain Home Cemetery. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Chapel, Ider, Ala.

BOBBY RAY JOHNSON

Bobby Ray "Tiny" Johnson, 71, of St. Augustine, Fla., died Oct. 19. He grew up in the Daus community near Dunlap, Tenn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in Korea. He is preceded in death by parents Foster Johnson and Lucille Frizzel Johnson Hogue. He is survived by wife of 50 years Helen Thompson Johnson; sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Kara Johnson, Tony and Barbara Johnson; and brother and sister-in-law Charles "Buck" and Joy Johson of Trenton. Funeral services were held Oct. 24 at Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine, Fla.

JAMES PELL JR.

James Albert Pell Jr., 56, of Chattanooga died Oct. 19 in a local hospital. He was a longtime resident of Chattanooga and was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by father James Albert Pell Sr., and daughter Ginger Ann Southerland. He is survived by mother Virginia Ramey, Trenton; son James Albert Pell III, Chattanooga; daughter Robyn Nicole Pell, Chattanooga; brothers Gary Pell, Rising Fawn, Donnie Wise, Chattanooga; sisters Susie Tucker and Pat Quarles, both of Chattanooga; six grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Oct. 21 in the chapel with chaplain Ron Berryman officiating. Interment was held at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home, Trenton, Ga.

DORIS POWELL

Doris Chapman Powell, 69, of Rossville died Oct, 22 at her residence. She was a member of Fairview Church of God. She is preceded in death by parents James and Estelle Chapman, husband Almon Powell, daughter Regina Powell, and brothers Bernard and Eldon Chapman. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Jimmy and Marilyn Powell, Terry and Brandi Powell; daughters and sons-in-law Debra and Floyd Rhodes, Peggy and Don Lowrance, all of Rossville; six grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Garry and Peggy Chapman, Rossville, Darrell and Nancy Chapman, Ider, Ala., Gerald and Dortha Chapman, Flat Rock, Ala.; sister and brother-in-law Darlene and Chuck Abercrombie, Ider, Ala.; half-sisters Billie Townson and Marie Hurst, Flat Rock, Ala.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Oct. 25 at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with brothers O.A. Bethune and Carthell Camp officiating. Interment was held in New Hope Cemetery. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Chapel, Ider, Ala.

BESSIE MEARSE

Bessie W. Mearse, 89, of Pisgah, Ala., Rosalie Community, died Dec. 3 in North Jackson Nursing Home in Bridgeport, Ala. She was born in Jackson County, Ala., and was a member of Free Hill Baptist Church in Rosalie, Ala. Mearse was preceded in death by her parents, William and Johnnie McCormick Walker; husband, Emmett O. Mearse. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Jo and Kenneth Rooks, Henagar, Ala.; two grandsons, Larry Rooks, Chattanooga, Tenn., Jack Rooks, Huntsville, Ala.; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Dec. 5 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Watson Williams officiating. Interment was in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens in Jackson County, Ala. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

WILLIE RHODES

Willie Van Rhodes, 86, of Bryant, Ala., died Dec. 4 in a local hospital. He was a resident of Bryant, Ala. for 28 years, was retired from Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta, was a U.S. Army World War II veteran serving in the Pacific theater and New Guinea. Survivors include: wife, Ida M. Rhodes; sister, Sarah Bullard, Ringgold; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Dec. 6 in Mountain View Church of God in Bryant, Ala. with the Pastor Ron Johnson officiating. Interment was in Mountain View Church of God in Bryant, Ala. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

Lora E. Yates, 79, of Pisgah, Ala., Rosalie Community, died Dec. 3 in Scottsboro, Ala. She was born in Rhea County, Tenn., and was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Rosalie, Ala. Yates was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Ada Brown Howder; grandson, Kip Kirby. Survivors include: husband, Edward Yates, Pisgah, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jim Kirby, Pisgah, Ala.; brother, Henry Howser, Wasilla, Alaska; sister, Ruby Patrick, Denver, Colo.; grandsons, Marcus Kirby and Jimmy Charles Kirby, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Lora, Nicole, and LeAnne Kirby. Funeral services were held Dec. 5 in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Watson Williams officiating. Interment was in Rosalie Cemetery. Arrangements were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

AUDREY CHAMBLEE

Audrey Marzlee Chamblee, 81, of Bryant, Ala., died Jan. 26 in a local hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Bryant, Ala., a housewife and a Baptist. Chamblee was preceded in death by her husband, Irby Chamblee; daughter, Shirley Smith. Survivors include: two daughters, Sarah Ann Mantooth, Chatsworth, Linda Mashburn, Lookout Mountain; two sons, Bud Chamblee, Trenton, Rickey Chamblee, Chatsworth; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Jan. 29 in Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with the Rev. Truman Shrader and the Rev. Steve Townson officiating. Interment was in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala.

EMMA HESTER

Emma Mae Hester, 81, a lifelong resident of Rising Fawn, died Jan. 27 at her home. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Hester was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Hester, Sr. Survivors include: four daughters, Francis Clark, Valley Head, Ala., Jimmy Sue Phillips, Jasper, Tenn., Patricia Myrick, Gadsden, Ala., Geraldine West, Rising Fawn; three sons, William, Eddie, and Russell Hester Jr., all of Rising Fawn; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Jan. 29, in Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Thompson officiating. Interment was in Head Springs Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

KENNETH HAUN

Kenneth David Haun Sr., 57, of Hollywood, Ala., died Dec. 11. Haun was retired from Trenton Spinning Mill of Trenton. He was a member of the High Praise Church of God in Ider, Ala. He preceded in death by father J.T. Haun, mother Carrie Bell Haun, and brother John Thomas Haun. Survivors include wife Linda C. Haun of Hollywood, Ala.; son David Haun; son and daughter-in-law Michel L. and Trevia D. Haun all of Hollywood, Ala.; sister and brother-in-law Joyce and J.C. Daniel of Chattanooga; brothers and sisters-in-law Charles and Kathleen Haun of Chattanooga and Jimmy and Wilma Haun of Lebanon, Tenn.; grandsons Austin Cordale Haun and Kaleb Christopher Haun; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Dec 13 in the Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Kenneth Bethune and Dee Bethune officiating. Interment was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bryant, Ala. Arrangements were by Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton.

MARTHA KEYS

Martha Faye Keys, 70, of Sylvania, Ala. died Dec. 9 at Erlanger Medical Center. Survivors include daughter Denise Harris of Sylvania; brother Melvin Browder of Boaz; five grandchildren; one great grandchild. Funeral services were held the Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dewayne Clifton officiating. Interment was in the Mountain View Memory Gardens. Arrangments were by Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala.

ODELL LOWERY

Marion Odell Lowery, 58, of Trenton died Dec. 3 at NHC Healthcare in Rossville. Lowrey was born in Houston, Texas and was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by mother Ruby Mae Yarber, father Elzer Rado Lowery and step-mother Sarah Ella Lowery Survivors include wife Linda Cureton Lowery of Trenton; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Mary Klitzke of San Diego, Calif.; sisters and brothers-in-law Glenda and Lee Roy Bailey and Ellen and Gerald Lynch all of Ider; several step-children and step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Corner Stone Funeral Chapel.

MILDRED MCMAHAN

Mildred Farr McMahan, 88, of Trenton died Dec. 6. McMahan was a lifelong resident of Trenton, a homemaker and former manager for the Gannaway-Riley Dime Store in Trenton. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by husband Hoyt DeVries, Paul Wilson and Tommy McMahan, sons Billy Frank Devries and E.A. DeVries. Survivors include son and daughters in law Paul and Pat Wilson of Trenton, Melba Howard of Cleveland, Tenn., eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in the chapel with the Rev. A.C. Durham officiating. Interment was in the Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

ROYCE MORGAN

Royce C. Morgan, 77, of Lookout Mountain died Dec. 9. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a resident of Lookout Mountian for 53 years, retired truck driver, and was of the Holiness faith. He was preceded in death by parents Robert and Mamie Morgan and brother Opha Morgan. Survivors include wife Dolly Morgan; sons and daughters-in-law Starolyn and Ellene Morgan and Leslie and Regina Morgan all of Bryant, Ala.; sister and brother-in-law Reba and Bob Glasgow; sisters Clona Smith; brother Dee Morgan all of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; grandchildren Stephanie and Jeff Bingham, Chelsey and Chase Morgan; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Dec. 11 in the chapel with the Revs. Shirley Byrum, Royce Cornelison and Claude Wooten officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Nathan, Bradley and Dale Wooten, Tim Morgan, Morris and Brent Glasgow. Arrangements were by Moore Funeral Home in Trenton.

Hobert Lee Ray, 91, of Henagar died Dec. 5 at Crown Health Care in Fort Payne, Ala. Survivors include sister Sue Shirley of Ider and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Dec. 7 at Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donald Kendricks officiating. Interment was in the New Home cemetery at Henagar, Ala. Melvin "Junior" Young, 46, of Soddy Daisy, Tenn. died Dec. 10 at Memorial North Park.
