Mr. Albert Harold Wren
GIBSON, Ga. - Mr. Albert Harold Wren, age 80, of Gibson, entered into rest Sunday, May 9, 2004 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center, Thomson.
He was the devoted husband of Calene Rahn Wren for 57 years.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Warrenton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ted Miller and Dr. Gary Hadden officiating. Burial was in Johnson cemetery in Warrenton.

Mr. Wren was a native of Glascock County and the son of Honorable Charlie Ross Wren, a former member of the Georgia House of Representatives, and Gertrude Hadden Wren of Gibson. He was a 1941 graduate of Warrenton High School and graduated from Georgia-Alabama Business College of Macon. He was employed by Buckeye Cotton Oil Company, Augusta, prior to service in the Army. He was a veteran of World War II and served in Patton's Third Army, 4th Armored Division, and was a participant in the famous Battle of the Bulge.

He was a member of the Iron Hill Advent Christian Church of Dearing for a number of years where he served as Deacon and Treasurer. He attended Warrenton First United Methodist Church and was a member and former President of the Sarah G. Clary Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Warren County Farm Bureau, American Legion Post No. 96, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Thomson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Gertrude Wren; sister, Agnes Wren Lankster and brother, Charlie Roswald Wren.

Survivors include beloved wife, Calene Rahn Wren; son, Donald Ross Wren and his wife, Rhonda, of Gibson; five grandchildren, Johna Wilkes, Columbia S.C., Tara Wilkes Smith, Macon, Jay Wilkes, Athens Ga., Tara Searcy, Gibson and Travis Braswell, Thomson and three loving great-grandchildren, Taylor Wren Smith and Tanner Elizabeth Smith of Macon and Payton Searcy of Gibson.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Sarah G. Clary Sunday School Class. Active pallbearers were S. D. Pearson, Paul Searcy, Charles Lankster, Ralph Hadden, Wade Rabun, Lynwood Johnson, Jim Rivers and Joey Kaney.

Memorials may be made to the Warrenton First United Methodist Church, 303 E. Main St., Warrenton Ga. 30828.

Mrs. Margaret Berry
Retired Bookkeeper
AUGUSTA, Ga.- Entered into rest Monday, May 3, 2004 at Beverly Manor Nursing Home, Mrs. Margaret Berry, 76, beloved wife of Milton Berry of 52 years.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 5, 2004 in the Crawford Avenue Chapel of Platt's Funeral Home with the Rev. Grover C. Lee, Jr. officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Berry was the daughter of the late H. L. (Dick) Brooks and the late Sallie Reeves Brooks.

Mrs. Berry retired after 31 years of service as a bookkeeper at Walker Realty and was a member of Little Briar Creek Baptist Church in Warrenton.

Additional survivors include a son, Milton M. Berry, Jr., Augusta; two brothers, Leon Brooks, California and Bob Brooks, Edgehill, Ga.; two sisters, Ruby B. Walden, Wrens and Betty B. Bryant, Thomson; a step-sister, Linda Montgomery, Martinez and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were George Berry, III, Bryan Berry, Charles Berry, Ri chard Drummond, Joe Holley and Joe Messore.

Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 2200 Lake Park Blvd. NE, Atlanta, Ga. 30308.

Platts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jannie Belle Poole Connor

APPLING, Ga.- Entered into rest at McDuffie County Hospital on Saturday, May 1, 2004, Mrs. Jannie Belle Poole Connor, wife of the late Frank C. Connor of Appling, Ga.
Mrs. Connor was the daughter of the late Judge Lloyd P. Poole and Alice Poole. She lived in Columbia County, all of life and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia County.

Two sisters, Mrs. Mary Lou Poole Connor and Mrs. Louise Poole Walker preceded her in death.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Edgar 'Joy' Whitaker, Appling; one grandchild, Deidra Gregory, Appling; one sister, Mrs. Willie M. Googe, Martinez.

A graveside service was held in Harlem City cemetery on Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Robert C. Rayner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Thomson Manor Alzheimer Wing, 511 Mount Pleasant Road, Thomson, GA 30824.

Ms. Samantha L. Prickett Green
DEARING, Ga.- Ms. Samantha L. Prickett Green, 29 of Washington Drive, Dearing, Ga, entered into rest May 1, 2004, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
She was the beloved mother of Courtney Michelle Prickett and Haley Renee Prickett. Other survivors include her mother and father, Carol and Johnny Green of Dearing, Ga.; a brother, Robert Graham of Cleveland, Ga.; five sisters, Patricia Etterle of Keysville, Ga., Elizabeth Minard of Windsor, S.C., Kathy Kitchen of Commerce, Ga., Carolyn Poston of Arkansas, and Lina Beth Fields of Orangeburg, S.C.; two nephews, Brian and Daniel Poston; her maternal grandmother, Celeste Graham of Thomson, Ga.; her paternal grandparents, John H. and Jessie Mae Green of Augusta, Ga.; and a host of loving and caring friends.

Ms. Green was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Reese Graham and by her paternal grandmother, Voila Green.

Ms. Green had lived in Dearing most of her life. She was a member of Dearing Full Gospel Church and was employed with the Waffle House.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Dearing Full Gospel Church with Revs. Jerry D. Rockefeller and Eddie L. Renew officiating. Interment followed in the Harlem City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were be Dean Bracknell, Terrell Holloway, David Merkson, Pokey Pebbles, Buddy Tucker, and Warren Wrens.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James Roy Hamilton

THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. James Roy Hamilton, 87, beloved husband of Mrs. Irene Hamilton of Grovetown, Ga., died Thursday, April 29, 2004, in the St. Joseph Hospital.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 1, 2004, in the Thomson First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Hamilton was a native of McDuffie County. He was retired from the Ford Motor Company. He was a member of Thomson First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Mens Bible Class.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Irene Hamilton, Grovetown; his son, Jim Hamilton, Powder Springs; two sisters, Mary Gunby and Annie Amerson, both of Thomson; a brother, Sterling Hamilton, Thomson; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were members of the Mens Bible Class.

Mrs. Howard Pierce Hooks
WARTHEN, S.C. - Mrs. Howard Pierce Hooks, age 78, of Mills Lindsey School Road in Warthen died Sunday, May 2, in North Augusta, S.C.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville. The Rev. Tim Nardi officiated with burial in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Hooks was a native of Washington County, the son of the Late Eulas Hooks and the late Minnie Rowland. He was a retired department store clerk and a disable Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Hooks attended the Baptist Church.

Survivors are his sisters, Joann H. Nardi of Belvedere, S.C., Ruth H. Usry of Milledgeville, Ga., Betty H. Gilman of Warner Robins, Ga., and Christine H. Branch of Thomson, 13 nieces and 10 nephews.

May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jessie Eugene Kirby

DEARING, Ga.- Entered into rest May 1, 2004, at the McDuffie County Hospital, Thomson, Mr. Jessie Eugene Kirby, 53, of Dearing.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at 2 p.m., in the Adams Chapel Cemetery, Dearing.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Kirby of Augusta and Jessie L. Kirby, Jr., Denver Colo.; two sisters, Brenda Lewis, Dearing and Minnie Lewis, Dearing and two grandchildren.

Mr. James Marsh

THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. James Marsh, 75, beloved husband of Mrs. Dot Landrum Marsh of Arnall Street, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, in the Medical College of Georgia Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 5 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2004, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Dr. Wilfred Bellamy and Rev. John Cook officiating.

Mr. Marsh was a native of Washington Co., but had lived in Thomson for many years. He was retired from Civil Service. He was an Army veteran of WW II. He was a member of the Thomson Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dot L. Marsh, Thomson; his son, Rex Marsh, Thomson; two sisters, Elizabeth Doggette, Augusta and Joyce Tomlinson, Flint, Mich. and two brothers, Paul Marsh and Billy Marsh, both of Warrenton.

Memorials may be made to the Thomson Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 398 Thomson, GA 30824.

Mr. Robert McGruder
AUGUSTA, Ga.- Mr. Robert McGruder of Wheeler Road entered into rest Sunday, April 25, 2004 at the Doctors Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Beulah Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Sam Davis officiating. Burial was in Walker Memorial Park.

He was a native of Columbia County, Georgia and a member of Beulah Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors are one daughter, Robbie McGruder, Los Angeles, Calif.; one son, Johnny Lee (Gretta) McGruder, Atlanta; four step-sons, Ron (Carolyn) Dorsey, Jackie Dorsey, Augusta, Eddie Dorsey, Jacksonville, Fla., and William Bussey, Thomson; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Mr. George Anderson

DEARING, Ga.- Mr. George Anderson, 93, widower of Mrs. Bessie Anderson, of Fort Creek Church Road, died Sunday, April 25, 2004, in Doctors Hospital.
Funeral services were held April 27, 2004, in the Fort Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Phillip Bray and Rev. Boyd Reeves officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was a native of McDuffie County. He was a retired farmer and had retired from construction. He was a member of Fort Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Anderson and his son, Wayne Anderson.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra West, Dearing; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Doris Turner Jordan

AUGUSTA, Ga.- Mrs. Doris Turner Jordan, beloved wife of the late Mr. Eugene M. Hall Sr., entered into rest on Saturday, April 24, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Platt's Crawford Avenue Chapel with Dr. Eleazer Benenhaley officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.

A native of Edgefield, S.C., Mrs. Jordan was a waitress at Ramada Plaza for 10 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Hall Ivey of Augusta; four sons, Jimmy Pardue of North Augusta, S.C., Eugene 'Bubba' Hall, Jr., of Martinez, Larry W. Hall of Hephzibah, and Charles 'Rick' Hall, Sr. of Thomson; a sister, Essie Lee Christie of Columbia, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Brian E. Hall, Amanda Hall, Michael A. Ivey, Lorie L. Turner, April Hill, Richard Hall and Katie Pardue; six great-grandchildren, Tierra Ivey, Merica Ivey, Garrett Turner, Tyler Turner, Sophia Hill and Grace Hill.

Her son, the late Douglas Morgan Hall, preceded Mrs. Jordan in death.

If so desired, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2623 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30904.

Active pallbearers were Michael A. Ivey, Brian E. Hall, Richard Hall, Lance Turner, Jim Hill, Junior Johnson, Jason Alford and Seth Kirkland.
