Mrs. Agnes Partridge Usry

THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Agnes Partridge Usry, of Thomson, entered into rest October 18, 2004, at Doctors Hospital.
Survivors include daughters, Terry Ferguson (Steve) of Thomson and Donnette Connell of Evans; sons, Sebran A. Partridge (Pat) of Fort Valley, Ga.; grandchildren, Beth Campbell, Ben Huffman, Michael Hayes, Lee Hayes, Joy Verner, Amy Connell and Josh Connell; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Emily Smith, Helen Harper, Ruby Turner, Beatrice Morris, all of Thomson, Credelle Ariail of Duncan, Texas, Mavis Bramlett of Atlanta and Imogene Cowart of Augusta; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Usry was born in Oglethorpe County, Ga. She was the daughter of Weaver Adkins and Nora Brown Adkins. She had lived most of her life in the Thomson area, and was a retired Seamstress. She worked at Thomson Company for over 25 years. Mrs. Usry was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Bruce Adkins, Gary Adkins, Ed Darby, Keith Verner, Greg Morris and Steve Ferguson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.

Mr. Dennis Wayne Dunaway
THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Dennis Wayne Dunaway, 43, of Thomson, entered into rest October 12, 2004.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., October 14, 2004 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Ferrell officiating.

Pallbearers were Lawrence Ashley, Tom Bentley, Adam Dye, Edward Gay and Chris Wallace. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery.

Rev. Larry D. Haire, Sr.
Minister
WARRENTON Ga.- Rev. Larry D. Haire, Sr., 56, entered into glory October 13, 2004 at his residence in Warrenton.
He was born in Marion, Ind. on May 25, 1948. He spent most of his life in Warrenton and Thomson. Rev. Haire was an evangelist and assistant pastor at Thomson Church of God. Rev. Haire was a board member at Mt. Moriah Campground in Matthews. He was also owner of Camak Diesel Service and Sassafras Hauling. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Mary Anne Haire; three children, Larry D. Haire, Jr. of Thomson, Rebecca Haire of Dearing and Jamie Haire of Warrenton; two grandchildren, Tre and Alex Sleister of Dearing; brothers and sisters include, Ina Urian of Thomson, Hubert Haire, Jr. of Appling, Joyce Newsome of Thomson, Brenda Thomas of Thomson, Geraldine Montgomery of Thomson, Joe Haire of Mobile Ala., Karen Walden of Matthews, Vickie Arr ington of Matthews, and Reba Baggett of Augusta.

He was welcomed home by his parents Rev. and Mrs. Hubert Haire Sr., of Dearing and two sisters, Barbara H. Chandler and Linda K. Haire.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Thomson Church of God. Services were officiated by Rev. Sammy Glass of Decatur, Tenn.; Rev. Ron Lawson of Thomson and Rev. Quint Shepherd of Sandersville, Ga.. Burial was at Sallie Hill cemetery in Warrenton.

Pallbearers were nephews of Rev. Haire, including J. R. Gilmer, Bill Gilmer, Tony Arrington, Barrow Walden, Travis Benson, and Kenny Ellis. Honorary pallbearers were also nephews.

Mr. Carl DeWayne Hawk
Supervisor, Castleberry Foods
THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Carl DeWayne Hawk, 37, of Thomson, entered into rest on October 15, 2004 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Penny N. Hawk.
He is survived by his wife, Penny N. Hawk; five sons, Christopher Sparbel, Lance Sparbel, Patrick Sparbel, Ben Hawk and Joseph Hawk; his daughter, Rebecca Hawk; and granddaughter, Rileigh Cadance Sparbel, all of Thomson; his father, DeWayne "Jake" C. Hawk, brother, Gary Hawk, two sisters, Dianne Junkins and Evelyn Hawk, all of West Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hawk was born in West Virginia to Dewayne "Jake" C. Hawk and the late Rebecca Sims Hawk. He lived in Virginia before coming to Thomson four years ago. He was a Seamer Tech Supervisor with Castleberry Foods in Augusta, a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop #125 and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2004 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. George Freeman officiating. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Honorary pallbearers were the Boy Scouts of America, Troop #125 and Pallbearers were Anderson Hilliard, Clint Hilson, Michael Lovett, Charles Martin III, Donnie Reese, Butch Sims, Christopher Sparbel and Lance Sparbel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 1725, Augusta, Ga., 30903-1725.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Retired SFC James Carlee Jukes
THOMSON, Ga.- Funeral services for Retired SFC James Carlee Jukes, 63, of Carver Street, Thomson, were held on Friday, October 15, 2004 at 1 p.m. at The Greater St. James A.M.E. Church, Rev. Gerald Caldwell, Pastor, officiating. Interment, with full military honors, was in Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Jukes was a graduate of Nash County School System and a retired Vietnam Era Veteran who served proudly in the US Army for 26 years. He was also retired from the Department of Defense, Fort Gordon. He worshiped at Greater St. James A.M.E. Church, where he served as Trustee. He served as Worshipful Master for Freedom Lodge #143, District Deputy Grandmaster and secretary for Georgia.

Survivors are two sons, Mark Jukes, Atlanta, Clark Jukes, North Augusta; three daughters, Sandra Campbell, Atlanta, Jacqueline Jukes and Kimberly Martin, both of Thomson; six grandchildren; stepmother, Mamie Jukes, Fayetteville, N.C.; a sister, Carrie Hinton, Tarboro, N.C.; two brothers, Edward McClellan, Patterson, N.J. and Llondell Jukes, Fayetteville, N.C. and other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sara Florence Kendrick
Painter
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Sara Florence Kendrick Painter, 88 of Thomson, entered into rest on October 16, 2004 at Warrenton Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was the beloved wife of the late William Harry Painter. She was preceded in death by her son, David L. Painter.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce P. and Lester Strother of Thomson; son and daughter-in-law, William Frank and Pat Painter of Charleston, S.C.; daughter-in-law, Jane Painter of Thomson; six grandchildren, Bruce Strother, Teresa P. Ashcraft, Keith Land, Michael Painter, and Frank Painter, Jr. and Karen Matthews; ten great-grandchildren, Whitney Lee Hillman, Kyle Dillon, Joshua Land, Elizabeth Land, Will Land, Matthew Painter, Bradley Painter, Valerie Painter, Cait Matthews and Ben Matthews and an honorary grandson, Bryce Whiddon.

Mrs. Painter was born on December 20, 1915 in Warren County, to the late Lurla Burt Kendrick and the late Joel Frank Kendrick. She was a homemaker and loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Young Memorial United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 18, 2004 at Young Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Walt Pledger and Rev. Katie Strals officiating. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Sam Brunson, Jimmy Painter, DeWayne Patrick, Roger Pitts, Bryce Whiddon and Butch Whiddon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Young Memorial United Methodist Church Youth Fund, 1711 Washington Road, Thomson, Ga., 30824 or Warrenton Health and Rehabilitation Center, 129 Norwood Road, Warrenton, Ga., 30828.

Mrs. Louise Perry
PHOENIX, Az.- Mrs. Louise Perry, 87, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away Oct. 7, 2004. She was a native of McDuffie County, but had lived in Philadelphia, PA, the last 50 years.
Survivors are two daughters, Louise Price and Willie Mae Thomas; one son, Zollie Perry; one sister, Clara Hamilton; one brother, Edward Kendrick; and 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Sgt. Tommie Steed
THOMSON, Ga.- Funeral service for Sgt. Tommie Steed, 33, of Thomson, were held on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the Springfield Baptist Church, Rev. William Mack, Eulogist. Interment was in Cobb Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Harlem.
Tom was a 1989 graduate of Harlem High School. He was a member of Cobb Grove Baptist Church. He was presently serving as a Sgt. in the Georgia National Guard, Unit Battery B, 1/214th FABN. He was a US Navy Veteran. He also worked with Georgia Pacific.

Survivors are his wife, Priscilla Steed of Thomson; four daughters, Jessica Spillers, Donimiquia Walker, Tommie Steed and Mya Steed, all of Thomson; two sons, Kevin Walker of Norfolk, Va. and Marquis Howard of Thomson; father, Mr. Willie 'WL' Steed of Harlem; five brothers and two sisters, Ernest Hammond, Seabrook, Md., Vernon Steed of Los Vegas, N.Y., Weldon Steed of Macon, Ga., Carolyn Steed, Smyrna, Ga. Velma Steed, Thomson; twin brothers, Tim Steed, Thomson and Charles Steed, Augusta; other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bobby Lewis Bohler
Retired Electrician
LINCOLNTON, Ga.- Mr. Bobby Lewis Bohler, 69, of Lincolnton, entered into rest October 10, 2004 at MCG.
Survivors include his sons, Victor Elliott Bohler, Thomson, Glenn Arness Bohler, Thomson, Sidney Lewis Bohler, Harlem; two daughters, Rhonda Faye Bohler, Dearing, Cheryl Lynn Bohler, Beech Island, S.C.; step-daughter, Tonya Gragg, Atlanta and six grandchildren.

Mr. Bohler was born in Lincoln County and was the son of the late Lewis E. Bohler and the late Minnie Lee Inglett Bohler. He was also retired as an Electrician with Ireland Electric.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel in Thomson, Ga. Interment followed in the Sweetwater Baptist Cemetery.

Mrs. Melrose Pope Clayton
Retired Samson Mfg.
WAYNESBORO, Ga.- Mrs. Melrose Pope Clayton, 86, entered into rest Sunday, October 3, 2004 at McDuffie Regional Hospital in Thomson, Ga.
Born in Jenkins County, Mrs. Clayton had lived in Waynesboro for over 50 years. Mrs. Clayton worked 35 years for Samson's Mfg. retiring in 1996. Mrs. Clayton was a member of the Rosemont Heights Baptist Church, Waynesboro.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday October 6, 2004 at Rosemont Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Alderman and Rev. Earl Saxon officiating. Burial followed at Burke Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Clayton was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Clayton and son, Don Roy Clayton.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Silas and husband, Cary, of Thomson; son, Frankie Clayton and wife, Cathy, of Waynesboro. Mrs. Clayton is also survived by five grandchildren, Kim Meadows, Rob Clayton, Craig Clayton, Clay Silas, Neal Clayton and four great-grandchildren, Trevor Clayton, Reed Clayton, Jackson Clayton and Hunter Clayton.

The following gentlemen have been asked to be pallbearers: Roy Black, Roy Pope, Tommy Clayton, Jesse Williamson, Kenneth English, Reimer Pope and Joey Phillips.
