Mrs. Helen Newton Rabun

AUGUSTA, Ga.- Mrs. Helen Newton Rabun of Augusta entered into rest August 31, 2004 at Doctors Hospital. She was the wife of Mr. Billy M. Rabun.
Mrs. Rabun, a native of Jenkins County, lived most of life in Augusta. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Steve Rabun, Grovetown, Chris I. Rabun, Lincolnton; four daughters, Cindy Lee Bryson, Grovetown, Billie Lynn Elledge, Grovetown, Tina Marie Kitchens, Hephzibah, Vickie Kelley, North Augusta; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services were conducted Friday September 3, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, with Rev. Phillip A. Winsett officiating.

Ms. Etta Belle Baxter
AUGUSTA, Ga.- Ms. Etta Belle Baxter entered into rest Friday, August 20, 2004 at University Hospital.
Ms. Baxter was a native of Mississippi, but made her home in Augusta. She served in the United States Army and was a retired nurse.

She is survived by a son, Allen Baxter; daughters, Carrie Easten, Bonnie Tebeau, Connie Long, Jeanne Peterson, Christina Baxter; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, August 25 at 1 p.m. at the Georgia Veterans Memorial cemetery in Milledgeville, Ga.

Mrs. Helen June Bolander
THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Helen June Bolander, 69, of Thomson, entered into rest August 28, 2004 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Burley Bolander for over 50 years.
Survivors include her husband; Burley Andrew Bolander; son; Andrew Eugene Bolander; daughters, Charlotte Jane Wishon, Barbara Lou Abbott (Mike) and Tama Lynn Shelton, all of Thomson; brothers, Jack Reed, Howard Reed, Jerry Reed and Fred Reed all of Oklahoma; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bolander was preceded in death by a son; Joe Bolander and a grandson; Troy Bolander.

Mrs. Bolander was born in Oklahoma and was the daughter of the late Jerry Reed and the late Alice Northup Reed. She lived in Thomson for over 35 years coming from Oklahoma. Mrs. Bolander was also a Baptist and a homemaker.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Crawford officiating.

Pallbearers were Pete Gross, Timmy Gay, Mike Abbott, Chris Crawford and Mike McGrother. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Linda Joann Daniel Cannon
ROEBUCK, S.C.- Mrs. Linda Joann Daniel Cannon, 62, died Tuesday, August 24, 2004, at her home.
Born April 3, 1942, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jack and Lois Kate Summey Daniel. She was a former clothing distribution clerk.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Oliver Cannon of the home; two daughters, Donna Laizure of Roebuck, and Linda Lively of Thomson; a son, David Hicks of Gaffney; a brother, Jerry Summey Daniel of Augusta; a sister, Delphine Chenney of Albuquerque, N.M.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Jo Hicks; a brother, Donnie Daniel and a sister, Martha Jean Bradley.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2004, at Good Shepherd Memorial Park conducted by the Rev. Rickey Millwood.

Mrs. Helen R. Jones
HARLEM, Ga.- The Funeral for Mrs. Helen R. Jones, 81, of Harlem, was held on Saturday, August 28, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Water Branch Baptist Church, Grovetown. Elder John Thomas officiated. Interment was at Woodlawn Christian Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery, Harlem.
Survivors are 12 sons, James Jones, Hollywood, Fla., Rev. Nathan Jones, Jr., Andrew Jones, Sammy Jones, Edward A. Jones, Rev. Casey L. Jones, Freddie L. Jones, Gary Jones, and Melvin Jones, all of Harlem, Clinton Jones and Alfred Jones, both of Grovetown, and John Jones, Augusta; six daughters, Annie Mae Thomas, Rosie L. Jones and Frances Moore, all of Harlem, Alma Jones and Ruth Douglas, both of Augusta, and Alice Jones of Dearing, one sister, Mrs. Laura Ramsey Jackson, Augusta, a sister-in-law, Ms. Hazelean Jones of New York, N.Y., 46 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mildred Lucille Krantz

THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Mildred Lucille Krantz, 82, of Thomson, wife of the late Raymond T. Krantz, entered into rest on Friday, August 27, 2004, at Gibson Health and Rehab Facility.
Graveside funeral services were held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Monday, August 30, 2004, at 10 a.m., with Father Edward O'Conner officiating.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Baygents, Thomson; brother, William Ford, Harlem; sister, Margaret, North Augusta; two grandchildren, Lily Herman Rowe and Benjamin R. Herman, both of Augusta and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Grace Rowe. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Krantz was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Carolyn Krantz.

A native and lifelong resident of Augusta, Mrs. Krantz made Thomson her home in 1999. She was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Augusta and a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Thomson. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Mr. Lowell Wayne Mitchell

THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. Lowell Wayne Mitchell, 47, of Guill St. Thomson, entered into rest August 27, 2004, in Columbia County. He was the beloved son of Jessie J. Mitchell and the late Ralph Mitchell.
Survivors include his mother, Jessie J. Mitchell, Jewell, Ga.; brother, John A. (Gloria) Mitchell of Mesena, Ga.; sister, LeGaye M. (Dickie) Lindley of Honea Path, S.C.; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Irene Jackson, Warrenton; nephews, Kent Dooling and Jackson Lindley.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Augusta, grew up in the Jewell Community and lived in Thomson for the past four years. He was an electrician and was a 1976 graduate of Briarwood. Mr. Mitchell was also a member of Jewell Baptist Church.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 30, 2004, at Jewell Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Terry Braswell, Jr., officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jewell Baptist Church cemetery Foundation, c/o Doris Gockel, P.O. Box 387 Jewell GA 31045.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thomas L. Paul
Civil Service retiree
HARLEM, Ga.- Entered into rest Friday, August 20, 2004, at his residence, Mr. Thomas L. Paul, 86, husband of Mrs. Melba Utley Paul, of Harlem.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2004, at Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum, Augusta, with the Rev. Randy Dunaway officiating.

Mr. Paul, a native of McDuffie County, was a retired Civil Service Engineer, Fort Gordon. He was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church of Thomson, and an avid fisherman and hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Melba Utley Paul; four sons, Thomas A. Paul (Peggy), of Dallas, Texas, John C. Paul, of Norwood, Raymond L. Paul (Carol), of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Michael D. Paul (Sandee), Martinez; one daughter, Wanda P. Judy (L.J.), of Ladson, S.C.; one brother, Gibson Paul (Norma), Thomson; one sister Jessie Wooten, Augusta; eight grandchildren, Tonya Kukielski, Rusty Judy, Candace Judy, Chad Paul, Steven Paul, Michael D. Paul, Jr., Michelle Paul, and Andrew Paul; and four great-grandchildren, Christopher Paul, Nicholas Paul, Kyle Kukielski, and Casey Kukielski.

If so desired, memorials may be made to the Saint Joseph Hospice Care, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904.

Honorary pallbearers were eight grandchildren, Tonya Kukielski, Rusy Judy, Candace Judy, Chad Paul, Steven Paul, Michael D. Paul, Jr., Andrew Paul, and Michelle Paul.

Mrs. Shirley Ann Rhodes

APPLING, Ga.- Mrs. Shirley Ann Rhodes, 67, beloved wife of Mr. A.S. Rhodes, entered in to rest Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at the residence.
Funeral services were conducted from the Graveside on Friday, August 20, 2004, at 1 p.m., at the Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. David Pittman officiating.

Mrs. Rhodes was born in Augusta. She was a Homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother and a dedicated wife and will be missed greatly by all who loved her.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Joe Rhodes of Appling and Bruce Mason of Thomson; one daughter, Gail McKenzie of Martinez; two sisters, Bonnie Marano of Appling and Doris Hope of Augusta; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Platt's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bernice Williams Thompson

MARTINEZ, Ga. -- Mrs. Bernice Williams Thompson, 85, wife of the late Emmit Perdue and Joseph Hankinson Thompson, entered into rest on Sunday, August 29, 2004 at her residence.
Family members include her daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Bob Johnson of Lakeview, Mich., Elene and Jesse Davidson of Harlem, Laura and Thom Daniel of Louisville, Karen and Jack Ford of Martinez; sons, Charles Perdue of Bolivar, Tenn. and Jimmy Perdue of Augusta; sister, Barbara Woodward of Augusta; brothers, Harvey Faglier of Statesboro and Joe Faglier of Dearing; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

Mrs. Thompson was also preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur Williams, G.C. Faglier, Ted Faglier and Gene Faglier and a sister, Agnes Carpenter.

Mrs. Thompson was a native of Jefferson County and had lived in the Augusta area since 1976 and was a member of Flowing Wells Worship Center.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at 11 a.m. from Thomas Poteet & Son Chapel with Rev. Bobby Renew officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were nephews.

If so desired, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Rd. Augusta, Ga. 30904.
