THOMSON, Ga. - Funeral services for Mrs. Josie A. West were held on Sunday, April 9, 2006 at 4 p.m. at the Piney Grove Baptist Church, Dearing, Rev. Sylvester Nabritt, officiating. Internment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors are an uncle, Vennie Calhoun, of Thomson; a niece, Mabel Daggett Faison (Hardy); nephew, Rudolph J. Daggett (Janette) of Cleveland; dedicated cousins of Thomson, Odessa Thomas (Bobby), Wayne Calhoun and Louis McCorkle and a host of relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cecil Floyd Minor
PADUCAH, Ky. - Mr. Cecil Floyd Minor, 63, formerly of Dearing, died Sunday, April 2, 2006, in the Heartland Regional Center in Manion, IL.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 6, in the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Harlem, with Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating. Burial was in the Church cemetery.

Mr. Minor was retired from the automobile business having worked at Tommy Blair's Courtesy Autoplex for the past 14 years of his career. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, was a life member of Post 1191 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion Post 31. He was of the Baptist Faith.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Workman and two great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Junior Inglett.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Judy Minor, Dearing; Keith and Shannon Albert, Dearing; seven grandchildren, David Workman, Pam Workman, Russ Minor, Brendan Albert and Barrett Albert, all of Dearing, and Miranda Albert and Brannon Albert, both of Evans; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Walker Workman, Dearing.

Pallbearers were David Workman, Russ Minor, Keith Albert, Kevin Albert, Jimmie Brannon, and Ed Brannon.

Mr. Thomas "Tom" Rushin Jr.
Mechanic
EDGEFIELD, S.C. - Mr. Thomas "Tom" Rushin Jr., 38, of Edgefield, S.C., son of Thomas (Tommy) Rushin Sr. and the late Peggy Reese Rushin, died May 25, 2006 at Edgefield County Hospital.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 25, at 2 p.m. at Edgefield First Baptist Church with burial in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.

Mr. Rushin was born in Augusta and was a mechanic. He was a member of Edgefield First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Thomas (Tommy) Sr. and Betty Rushin; two brothers, Travis Rushin, Aiken, and Tyler Rushin, Clover, S.C.; two sisters, Elisa Spray, North Augusta and Elaine Daly, Gaffney.

Memorials may be made to the Edgefield County Hospital, P.O. Box 590, Edgefield, S.C. 29824.

Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Beatrice Erma Morris
Retired Seamstress
THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Beatrice Erma Morris, 82, beloved wife of Mr. Louis Morris of Holt Street, died Saturday, January 28, 2006 in the Medical College of Georgia.
Memorial services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2006 in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating.

A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Morris was a daughter of the late Weaver and Nora Brown Adkins. She retired after 25 years as a Seamstress from Thomson Company and was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Oglethorpe County and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Bernice Adams, Ruth Sanders, Agnes Usry, Emily Smith and a brother, W.H. Adkins and is survived by beloved husband of 57 years, Mr. Louis Hatfield Morris of Thomson; son, Greg Morris of Thomson; five sisters, Helen Harper, Ruby Turner, Imogene Cowart, Mavis Bramlett and Credele Ariel; several nieces and nephews.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Margie Parrish Hinton
Retired Beautician
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Mrs. Margie Parrish Hinton, 83, died Monday, May 22, 2006, at Ocochee Regional Medical Hospital in Milledgeville.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2006, at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson, with Dr. James M. Ramsey, pastor of Thomson First Baptist Church, officiating.

A native of Carroll County, Mrs. Hinton moved to Thomson in 1943 following completion of Cosmetology School in Valdosta. She married Wilton Hinton in 1945, shortly after his return from active duty in World War II, and operated Margie's Beauty Shop until her retirement in 1987. Mr. & Mrs. Hinton were active members of Thomson First Baptist Church, where Mrs. Hinton was a faithful member of Grace Sunday school class. The couple made their home in Thomson until moving to Milledgeville in 2001.

Survivors include husband, Wilton Hinton; a brother, James Parrish of Greensboro, Ga.; one son, Bill Hinton (Jill) of Milledgeville; one daughter, Ann Hayduk (Fred) of Wadsworth, Ohio; four grandchildren, Scott Hayduk (Sally) of Wadsworth, Jon Hayduk (Tavia) of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Rebecca Hinton of Athens, Ga. and Sky Hinton of Milledgeville; three great grandchildren, Tevin, Molly and Peyton.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Thomson First Baptist Church.

Mr. Willie James "Boo Boo" Huff
THOMSON, Ga. - Funeral services for Mr. Willie James "Boo Boo" Huff, 39, of Thomson, were held on Sunday, January 29, 2006, at 3 p.m. at the Jones Grove Baptist Church, Bishop Winston Grier officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors are mother, Mrs. Doris Huff; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Lucille Huff, both of Thomson; four sisters, Bernice Huff, Flora Jean Kitchens and Deborah Stephens, all of Thomson, Dorothy Ann Huff of Augusta; three brothers, Randy Huff of Thomson, Ricky Huff and Danny Huff of Wrens; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends; and a special friend, Becky Ann Fountain of Thomson.

The Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Moses Kendrick, Jr.
THOMSON, Ga. - Funeral services for Mr. Moses Kendrick, Jr. of Thomson, were held Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Lithonia Baptist Church, Camak, Ga., Minister Tracy Reese, officiating, interment in Briscoe Cemetery.
Survivors are one son, Troy (Lynette) Kendrick of Atlanta; two daughters, Brenda Kendrick of Thomson and Jocelyn Kendrick of Augusta; two sisters, Shirley Crawford of Augusta and Sarah Kendrick of Thomson; two brothers, William Kendrick of Thomson and Joseph Jackson of Augusta; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Glenn Hyman
Retired Civil Service
NORWOOD, Ga. - Mr. Glenn Hyman, of Norwood, entered into rest January 25, 2006, at University Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Ruth May Hyman and the late Susie Hyman.
Mr. Hyman was a lifelong resident of Warren County and the son of the late Samuel Thomas Hyman and the late Janie Reese Hyman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a European- African Service Medal with a Bronze Star for his service. Mr. Hyman also retired from civil service as a carpenter, was the Cattleman of the Year for 2004, a member of the Reese-Hyman American Legion, the VFW Post #7778, a member of New Providence Baptist Church and served as a deacon for more than 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth May Hyman, Norwood; sons, Larry Alton Hyman (Renell), Evans, Barry Glenn Hyman (Betty), Norwood; daughters, Beverly Whaley (William), Evans, Ann Hubbard, Norwood, Nell Hobbs (Thomas), Avera, Ga.; sisters, Dorothy Shiflett, Augusta, Margaret Hobbs, Augusta, Barbara Jean Eaton, Warrenton; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Hyman was preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbie Edge, and a grandson, Brian Thomas Hyman.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2006, at New Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Crawford officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Reese-Hyman American Legion and VFW Post #7778.

Memorials may be made to New Providence Baptist Building Fund, 656 Magnolia Dr. N.W., Thomson, GA 30824 .

Mr. Eunice C. Williams
CHICAGO, Ill. - Funeral service for Mr. Eunice C. Williams, 76, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Thomson, was held Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Thomson, Rev. Courtney Miller, Eulogist, interment in the churchyard cemetery.
Survivors are three sons, Freddie "Raheem" Williams of Atlanta, Herbert (Charlotte) Williams of Chicago and Anthony (Yvette) Williams of Chicago; one daughter, Myra Williams of Atlanta; three brothers, James (Ida Mae) Williams, Tommy C. (Eunice) Williams and J.T. Williams all of Thomson, Ga.; three sisters-in-law, Mamie Williams and Dora Williams both of Thomson and Brenda Williams of Atlanta; 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mr. Charlie Lee Ivey
DEARING, Ga. - Mr. Charlie Lee Ivey, 73, of Dearing, passed away Monday May 22, 2006.
Funeral services were held Saturday May 27, 2006, 2 p.m. at United Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, Elam Church Rd., Norwood, with Rev. Dorothy Hart, officiating.

Burial was held at Society cemetery in Mesena.

Mr. Ivey leaves to cherish his memories many loving children, grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Geraldine H. Montgomery, 62, of Thomson, entered into rest May 25, 2006 at Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, Ok. She was the beloved wife of Floyd Tommy Montgomery.
Additional survivors include, daughter, Terri Lynn Wilson Dawson (Peck), Thomson; step-son, Russell Thomas Montgomery (Jennifer), Thomson; step-daughter, Krystal Lord (Randy), Thomson; brothers, Hubert D. Haire, Sr., Appling, and William J. Haire, Sr., Mobile, Ala.; sisters, Ina H. Urian, Joyce H. Newsome, Brenda H. Thomas, all of Thomson, Karen H. Walden and Vickie H. Arrington, both of Matthews, Ga., and Reba H. Baggett, Augusta, and seven grandchildren, Nick Dawson, Kristian Dawson, Garrett Montgomery , Katelyn Montgomery, Jackson Montgomery, Taylor Lord, Kelsey Lord.

Mrs. Montgomery was born in Greenville, Tenn. but lived in Thomson for 55 years. She was the daughter of the late Hubert D. Haire, Sr. and the late Bertha Shelton Haire. Mrs. Montgomery was a Tax Preparer, a member of the Thomson First United Methodist Church, a member of the Matthews Community Relay for Life Team of Jefferson County and a dedicated supporter of the Mt. Moriah Campground, Matthews, Ga.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, June 4, 2006 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Tom Kerr and Joe B. Walden officiating.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Moriah Campground P. O. Box 5 Matthews, Ga. 30818 or the Cancer Treatment Center of America 10109 East 79th Street Tulsa, Ok. 74133.
