Mr. Willie Edward Latimer
MITCHELL, Ga. - Mr. Willie Edward Latimer of Mitchell, departed this life on April 21, 2006 at the McDuffie Regional Hospital in Thomson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2006, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Warrenton with the Rev. J.A. Lockhart officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Deacon Latimer was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher and Deacon Board.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Lizzie P. Latimer, three sons, Sgt. 1st Class Willie D. Latimer, Augusta; Jimmie Latimer and Lorenzo Latimer, Lincolnton; five daughters, Carol Sue Latimer, Mitchell; Betty Burns, Christine Kuhn both of Warrenton; Edna Lewis, East Point; and Celestine Morgan, Decatur; one sister, Annie D. Lemons, one brother, James C. Kitchens, twenty-five grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren.

Dawson's Mortuary was in charge of services.

Mr. Dennis Allen Hughes
Retired Heavy Equipment Operator
THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Dennis Allen Hughes, 59, widow of Mrs. Barbara Ann Stevens Hughes, died Monday evening June 19, 2006 in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services were held 11 a.m. Thursday June 22, 2006 in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Adrian Burrell officiating. Burial followed in the Magnolia Baptist Church cemetery in Gibson.

Pallbearers were Timmy Usry, Glenn Allen, Ricky Phillips, Stan Morris, Tim Smith and Robert Milford.

Mr. Hughes was a native of McDuffie County and had worked with Knox Rivers and retired from Reeves Construction as a Heavy Equipment Operator.

He is survived by daughter, Lisa Marie (Ronnie) Black of Gibson; son, Jutson Marcus Hughes of Gibson; two sisters, Martha Phillips of Thomson, and Bobbie Scott of Hephzibah; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Sis. Susie Mae Gant
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Funeral service for Sis. Susie Mae Gant of Augusta, was held on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 3 p.m. at the Poplar Head Baptist Church of Christ, Dearing, with Rev. David Lowe officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Bedell and a son, Mr. James Edward Gant, both of Augusta; surrogate mother, Ms. Moriah Johnson of Harlem; two sisters, Ms. Daisy Taylor of Boston, Mass. and Ms. Thelma Ivery of Thomson; four brothers, Mr. Grady Rogers of Pa., Mr. Clarence Ivery of Miami, Fla., Mr. Jimmy Ivery and Mr. Austin Ivery both of Thomson; son-in-law, Mr. Levi Bedell of Augusta; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Deacon Charlie Ranger
WARRENTON, Ga. - Funeral services for Deacon Charlie Ranger of Warrenton, were held Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 3 p.m. at the Cody Grove Baptist Church, Rev. Augustus Lockhart, officiating, interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors are a devoted wife, Mrs. Mary Lee Ranger of Warrenton; three stepsons, William Johnson, Ellenwood, Robert (Betty) Johnson, Lithonia, and Ronnie (Willene) Johnson of Decatur; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Haynes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Eddie Thomas
THOMSON, Ga. - Funeral service for Mr. Eddie Thomas, 83, of Thomson, was held on Friday, February 24, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Whiteoak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Few, Pastor, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Thomas was a McDuffie County native and a member of the Whiteoak Grove Baptist Church and its Usher Board.

Survivors are his children, Mamie L. Butler (Charles), Decatur, Ga., Barbara T. Wilcher (Moses), Sarah Cobb (Roy), Nellie Pearl Thomas and Ralph Thomas, all of Thomson, May Joyce Huff and Wendy Thomas of Atlanta and Leroy Thomas (Theresa) of Springfield, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Iris Allen Dozier
Retired Uniroyal Employee
THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Iris Allen Dozier, 84, widow of Mr. E.S. Billy Dozier, died Thursday, August 3, 2006, at Heartland Hospice.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2006, in the Shiloh United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Taylor & Rev. Tim Corbin officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Dozier was a native of Barrow County, retired from Uniroyal and was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Gale Dozier Sutton, Thomson; two sons, William David Dozier Sr., Appling, and Roger Allen Dozier, Thomson; sister, Inez Vaughn, Conyers; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were William David Dozier Jr., John S. Dozier, William A. Dozier, Johnny M. Markwalter, Larry Adams, Brent Nevil, Stan Driver, and David Perkins. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Dozier, Larry Tankersley, Cecil Bullard, Bob Bullard, Bud Farr, and Lee Ashmore.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shiloh Methodist Church cemetery fund.

Mrs. Eula Mae Reese World
THOMSON, Ga. - Funeral services for Mrs. Eula Mae Reese World, 74, of Thomson, were held on Monday, February 27, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Shiloh Baptist Church, Cadley, Ga. with Rev. Andrew Grant officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors are four children, Velmon Reese, Melvyn (Luvon) Reese, Bethany McIntosh and Altonya Reese, all of Thomson; two sisters, Jannie Reese and Annie Lampkin, both of Thomson; two brothers, Albert Reese of Thomson and Lonzie Reese of Cambridge, M.D.; three grandchildren, Corliss Reese of Statesboro, Ga., Monique (Chris) Shorty of Clarksville, Tenn. and Terrell McIntosh of Thomson; one great-grandchild, Jacayla Shorty of Clarksville; other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mr. Jimmy (Pee Wee) Cody, Sr.
THOMSON, Ga. - Funeral service for Mr. Jimmy (Pee Wee) Cody, Sr., of Thomson, was held Thursday April 6, 2006 at 3 p.m. at the Greater St. James AME Church, Thomson, Rev. Gerald Caldwell officiating. Interment was in Westview Cemetery.
Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Beatrice Cody of Thomson; three daughters, Shannon C. Deristel, of Virginia, Nakeisha Cody and Aneatra Cody both of Thomson; one son, Jimmy Cody, Jr., of Thomson; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa L. Dawson of Thomson and Mrs. Annie L. King of Baltimore; two brothers, Mr. Willie Cody, Jr. and Horace Cody both of New Jersey; five grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Levonia Hill Neloms
THOMSON, Ga. - Funeral services for Mrs. Levonia Hill Neloms, 68, of Thomson, were held on Sunday, April 9, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Springfield Baptist Church, Thomson with Rev. Tracy Lee officiating. Interment was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Survivors are one daughter, Carolyn (Charlie) Castleberry and one son, Ronnie Neloms, all of Thomson; mother, Mrs. Claudia Mae Hill of Camak; eight sisters, Julia Kearse, Patricia Hill, Brenda Hill, Joann (Raymond) Hunt, all of Thomson, Thelma Rhodes of Warrenton, Gladys Hill of Atlanta, Yvonne Hill of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Gracie Rogers of Detroit, Mich.; six brothers, Wesley (Geraldine) Hill, Larry (Betty) Hill, Ricky (Valarie) Hill, all of Decatur, Ga., Samuel (Yolanda) Hill of Thomson, Jerome (Creola) Hill of Asbury Park, N.J. and Aaron (Mattie) Hill of Queens, N.Y.; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

The Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ethel Mae Moss
THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Ethel Mae Moss of Thomson entered into rest February 19, 2006 at University Hospital in Augusta.
Survivors are husband, Mr. George Moss Sr, Thomson; three daughters, two sons, one sister, 22 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 1 pm at Jones Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Robert Mixon, pastor; Rev. Haywood Dock, eulogist.

Mr. John Perry Lloyd
Retired U.S. Air Force
THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. John Perry Lloyd, 79, of Thomson, entered into rest April 17, 2006 at his residence.
He was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis Stewart Lloyd.

Survivors include, a son, Hal "Buddy" Perry Lloyd (Jane), Thomson; daughter, Patricia Ann Lloyd, Thomson; brother: W.R. Lloyd, Jr., Harlem, sisters: Francis English, Thomson; Louise Johnson- Thomson; Jane Davenport, Macon; two grandchildren: Joshua "Zeke" Lloyd and Ethan Lloyd.

Mr. Lloyd was born in McDuffie County, Georgia and was the son of the late William R. Lloyd and the late Myrtle "Mer" Sleister Lloyd . He was retired from the U. S. Air Force after 20 years of service and was retired as shop foreman from Knox-Rivers. Mr. Lloyd was also a member of Washington Heights Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, former Sunday School Director and worked with the Youth.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at Washington Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Sonny Peevey officiating.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers were Deacons and Members of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class of Washington Heights Baptist Church. Interment followed in Westview cemetery with full military honors.

Memorials may be made to Washington Heights Baptist Youth and Building Fund or the West Virginia Mission Trip.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
