Mrs. Elizabeth Dixon Walker
ATLANTA, Ga. - Mrs. Elizabeth Dixon Walker died February 25, 2005.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 5, 2005, 1 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church in Sparta, Ga. Rev. Felton Poole and Rev. Samuel Duggan officiated, and interment was in Dixon Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include four children, Ronnie Grier, Brenda Grier Brown, Jacquelyn Corker and Samuel Grier, Jr.; one grandchild, Bethany Ruthyer Corker; three brothers, James Henry Dixon, Gordon Dixon, Thomas Dixon; one sister, Ruthye D. Kendrick.

Mrs. Janet Belles Burkett

GIBSON, Ga. -- Mrs. Janet Belles Burkett, 38, of Gibson, entered into rest Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2005, with Rev. Richard Kitchens and Rev. Steve Lamb officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Janet was a Baptist and a graduate of Warren County High School in 1985.

Survivors are her father, Howard E. Belles of Allendale, SC; her grandmother, Jessie Mae Usry; one son, Skyler James Burkett and Chacedie Lei Burkett of Gibson; six brothers, Rex Franklin Stephens of Augusta, William Clark Stephens of Dearing, James Howard Belles of Harlem, Charlie Thomas Clay of Thomson, Howard Clay of Augusta and Christopher Lee Clay of Augusta; one sister, Lisa Marie S. Rodriguez of Thomson; three aunts, Agnes Swint of Stapleton, Margaret Stevens of Dearing and June Kitchens of Thomson; three uncles, Juddy Wayne Gay of Walhalla, SC, Milo Gay of Augusta and Billy Gay of Thomson and father and mother-in-law, Julius Sr. and Pat Burkett of Gibson. Pallbearers are Joseph James Swint, Jaime Turner, Andrew Turner, Greg Lewis, Ralph Kitchens and Barry Mauck.

Donations may be made to Sheppard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 246, Gibson, Ga. 30810 for family expenses.

Sheppard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Otis Glen "Cotton" Davis
Retired textile cutter
CAMAK, Ga. -- Mr. Otis Glen "Cotton" Davis, 65, of Camak, entered into rest March 3, 2005 at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation. He was the beloved husband of the late Martha Brunson Davis.
Survivors include daughter, Glenda Simmons (Vernon, Sr.) of Thomson; step-son, Rick Kinney (Kristy) of Columbia, SC; brothers, Elwood Davis, Woodstock, Ga., James Davis, Martinez; sister, Christine Gay, Avera, Ga.; granddaughter, Harley Marie Shelton; four step-grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren.

Mr. Davis was born in Jefferson County, but lived in Camak most of his life. He was the son of the late John Thomas Davis and the late Mattie Mae Landrum. Mr. Davis was also retired as a textile cutter, served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam Era and was a Methodist.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Marvin Goodwin officiating.

Pallbearers were Gary Johnson, Steve Cooper, Henry Parham, Earl Smith, Wayne Hammett and Willis Stanley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans Association.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jane Massey Ginn
THOMSON, Ga. -- Mrs. Jane Massey Ginn, 61, of Idas Drive entered into rest on Monday, February 28, 2005 at Portsbridge Hospice in Macon.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005 at Rees Funeral Home with Mrs. Ginn's son-in-law, Patrick Cramer officiating.

Mrs. Ginn was a native of Athens and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, John H. Ginn; two daughters, Starry Dawn Morris and Velvet Denise Cramer, both of Macon; mother, Clara Bell Massey of Elberton; brother, Stuart Lynn Massey of Hull; one grandson, Jake Morris.

Mrs. Ginn was preceded in death by her father, Stuart Massey.

The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorials contributions be made to Portsbridge Hospice, 115 Arkwright Landing, Macon, Ga. 31201.

Mr. Clarence "Bubba" Jackson, Jr.
FAIRBURN, Ga. -- Funeral services for Mr. Clarence "Bubba" Jackson, Jr., age 64, of Fairburn, were held on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Williams Grove Baptist Church, Warren County with Rev. Larry Medlock officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors are wife, Mrs. Hattie Mae Roberts Jackson; six children; two sons, Odell (Tina) Battle of Atlanta, Jeremiah Jackson of Augusta; four daughters, Sallie Battle of Atlanta, Regina (Mike) Webb of Thomson, Jennifer Jackson of Atlanta and Almeia Jackson of Los Angeles; two stepdaughters, Christine (Roderick) Williams of Albany, and Angela (Steve) Scott of Tampa, Fla.; father, Mr. Levi Jackson of Thomson; five sisters, Virginia Jackson of Augusta, Ethel (Lynn) Mance and Minnie Jackson, all of Thomson, Barbara Ann Jackson of Augusta, Mary (JJ.) Smith of Atlanta; two brothers, Johnny Jackson of Wrens, and Larry (Louise) Jackson of Augusta; 17 grandchildren, an aunt, uncle, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Alberta Davis

THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Alberta Davis, 125, of Thomson, died Saturday, January 27, 2007 at her residence.

Survivors include a son, Will Thomas, and daughter, Irene Thomas, both of Thomson.

Services were held Sunday, February 4, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at Ingram Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Macedonia Baptist Church.

Mr. Ronald "Ronnie" Johnson, Sr.
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Ronald "Ronnie" Johnson, Sr. entered into rest Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at University Hospital.
Mr. Johnson worked as a Welder and Pipe Fitter.

Survivors include his sons, Ronald (Angela) Johnson, Jr., North Augusta, S.C., Justin Knight and Austin Knight, Alaska; daughter, Lisa Hall, Bath, S.C.; two brothers, James and Frank Johnson of Hephzibah; two sisters, Elizabeth Creel of Augusta and Anna McGee of Dearing; three grandchildren, Christian Johnson, Cody Smith and Steven Hall; several nieces and nephews; two special nephews, Ervin Johnson, and R.C. Shipley, a special niece, Alice Johnson and special friend, Carolyn Clark.

Burial will be private.

Ms. Gloria Young
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Ms. Gloria Young, 44, died Friday, May 19, 2006, in the St. Joseph Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 21, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Tunnell officiating. Burial was in the Dearing Memorial Cemetery.

Ms. Young was a native of McDuffie County, but had lived in Augusta for many years. She was a prep cook with Wife Savers.

Survivors include her brother, Carl Young, Augusta.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Holley, Keith Holley, Mark Holley, Bobby Dunaway, Jerry Dunaway, and Al Hooks.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Albert Ward

NORWOOD, Ga. - Mr. Albert Ward, of Norwood, Ga., died Saturday, May 10, 2008.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 18, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Rocky Branch Baptist Church, with Rev. Lyndon Heath officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include a loving daughter, Mattie Hammond; wife, Metrics Hammond; four grandchildren, Melvin Vaughn, Javarous Hammond, Shaquita Jenkins, Ceria Gaines; one great-grandson, Zymire Brown; four sisters, Lillie Ward, Decatur, Ga., Essie Burley, Annie Martin, Norwood, Ga., Mattie Heath, Stone Mountain, Ga.; special friend, Rosa Griffin; other relatives and friends.

Dawson's Mortuary was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mr. Bobby Lee Stewart, Jr.

DEARING, Ga. - Mr. Bobby Lee Stewart, Jr., 39, entered into rest Friday, May 9, 2008, husband of Michelle Widener Stewart.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Faith Baptist Church, with Dr. Don Widener officiating.

Mr. Stewart was born in Augusta and was a member of the Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle Stewart of Dearing; two sons, Christopher (C.J.) and wife, Lisa Kotlan, and Tony Stewart; one daughter, Courtney Stewart, Thomson; his mother, Nancy Stewart, Thomson; one brother, Linn (Christy) Stewart, Thomson. Additional survivors include grandson, Christopher Lian Kotlan, and several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Lee Stewart, Sr., and sister, Connie Stewart..

Pallbearers were Mark Wilson, Leo Strickland, Joey Overton, Bud Overton, Richard Walden and Wayne Johnson.

Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rosa C. Chapman
Retired Secretary
THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Rosa C. Chapman, 90, widow of Mr. Everett T. Chapman, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, in the Thomson Manor Nursing Center.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Dr. Leonard Dupree officiating.

Mrs. Chapman was a native of Greenville, S.C., but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was a retired secretary with Knox-Rivers Construction Company and was a member of the Thomson First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Carolyn Chapman, Thomson; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jordan Pickens Foldes
Retired Teacher
THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Jordan Pickens Foldes, 85, retired teacher, of Thomson, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Grace Langston Foldes; son, Lance Jordan Foldes and Kay Strickland Foldes, his wife of Rome, Ga; his daughter, Connie Foldes Dozier and William Alexander (Bill) Dozier, her husband, of Thomson; grandchildren, Rich Langston Foldes and Stephanie Sheppard Foldes, his wife of Sylvania, Ga; Jordan Alexander Dozier and William David Dozier, of Thomson; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Sumner Foldes, Sylvania; one brother, Ira Douglas Foldes, two sisters, Virginia Foldes Campbell, and Patricia Foldes Hoover, all of Tallahassee, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Foldes was a graduate of the University of Florida with degrees in vocational education and his entire career was spent in the field of education both as a teacher and administrator, in Statesboro. He was a devout Christian, an Ordained Deacon, and for many years a Sunday School Teacher. At the time of his death, he was a faithful member of Thomson First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, in India and occupied Japan. He was a loyal member of Kiwanis for many years and, at the time of his death, was an honorary member of the Thomson Kiwanis Club.

Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 11, in Westview cemetery with Dr. James Ramsey officiating.
