CAMAK, Ga. - Funeral services for Mr. Isah Hudson, 74, of Camak, were held on Monday February 11, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Cody Grove Baptist Church in Warrenton with the Rev. Andrew Grant officiating. Interment was in the churchyard cemetery.

Survivors include a devoted wife, Lizzie Hudson, Camak; three daughters, Betty (Lonnie) Daniels, Camak, Connie (J. B.) Winfrey, Mesena and Angela Marie (Nathaniel) Deloach, Augusta; seven sons, Frank (Loretta) King, Alfonso Hudson, all of Augusta, Isaiah (Maureen) King, VA, Herbert Hudson, Camak, Sylvester Hudson, Thomson, Larry Hudson, Wrens, and Nathaniel Hudson, Germany; a sister, Mammie (Charles) Turman, Thomson; two brothers, Wyman Hudson, Mesena and R. L. Hudson, Camak; 52 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Bessie Fowler, Augusta; two aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Haynes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Doris Shurling Scruggs Harris

ATLANTA, Ga. - Mrs. Doris Shurling Scruggs Harris, 87, formerly of College Park, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at the Ashton Woods Health Care Center in Atlanta.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Sisters Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Burt Parker officiated.

Pallbearers were Steve Guthrie, Evans Guthrie, Dylan Tyson, Tris Tyson, Herman Channel, and Lamar Hawkins.

Survivors are her sister Mary Guthrie of Dandridge, Tenn., brothers, Rodger Elmer Shurling of Evans and Billy Eugene Shurling of Thomson and 13 nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made to the Sisters Baptist Church, 1807 E. McCarty St., Sandersville, GA. 31082.

May and Smith Funeral Directors of Sandersville was in charge of these arrangements.

Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Schutt Culbert

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Schutt Culbert, 86, wife of Harry Culbert, entered into rest Friday, March 28, 2008, at University Hospital.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Dr. Michael Davenport officiating.

She is survived by three sons, David Sheilds of Augusta, Barry Culbert of Thomson and Billy Culbert of Goose Creek, SC; daughters, Karen Pruitt of Augusta and Elaine Wondoloski of Lawrenceville, GA; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Culbert was born in Phildelphia, PA to the late Robert and Bertha Schutt. She was a member of Druid Park Bible Church.

Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, 2502 Richmond Hill Rd, Augusta, GA, 30906, were in charge of arrangements.

Gail Huff
July 9, 1951 - September 13, 2009

Celebration of Life services for Brenda Gail Huff, 58, of Augusta will be held on Thursday, September 17, at 7:00 pm at the Church of God of Prophecy in Augusta, and on Sunday, September 20, at 3:00 pm at 506 Thomson Rd in Washington, with Pastor Steve Airey officiating at both services. She died on Sunday, September 13, 2009, at the Medical College of Georgia.
Gail was a native of Wilkes County and the daughter of the late Woodrow W. and Josie Hammock Huff. She had made her home in Augusta since 2006, attended the Church of God of Prophecy, and was a blessing to all whose lives she touched.
Survivors include her son, Marc Norman of 13 Fifth Circle, Winterville, GA, 30683; brother and sister-in-law Gary and Margaret Huff of Chamblee; and two nephews, Chris Huff of Winder. and Joel Huff of Espanola, NM.

Ann Stanley
November 2, 1953 - September 13, 2009

MRS. ELIZABETH ANN STANLEY , 55 of Boneville Rd. Dearing, Ga. entered into rest on September 13, 2009 at Doctor’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of James Stanley.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Ferrell officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jason Burnley, Chuck Cason, Shawn Elmore, Billy Elmore, Steve Jordan and Joey Tuten. Honorary pallbearers will be McDuffie County School Bus Drivers.

Mrs. Stanley was born in Richmond County, Georgia but lived most of her life in McDuffie County, Georgia. She was retired from Sears as a service technician and retired from the McDuffie County Board of Education as a Bus Driver. Mrs. Stanley was a Baptist by faith.

Survivors include her husband, James Stanley of Dearing; Sons, Doug Lord and his wife Kay of Thomson, Bobby Stanley, Matt Stanley both of Dearing; two grandchildren, Kaytie and Macy Lord; Mother, Barbara Milford of Augusta; brothers, Ralph Milford of Charlotte, Tom Milford of Augusta and one sister, Sue Hillman of Waynesboro. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Billy Milford.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society P. O.Box 1725 Augusta, GA 30903-1725.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

David J. Dismuke
February 14, 1949 - September 10, 2009

Mr. David Joseph Dismuke, Sr., 60, husband of devoted wife Melba Ligon Dismuke entered into rest Thursday, September 10, 2009 at his residence in Dearing, GA. Mr. Dismuke was born in Richmond County, Georgia but lived in McDuffie County for the past 12 years, where he was a member of Second Baptist Church in Thomson. Mr. Dismuke was a successful businessman and home builder. He worked for over 25 years in the retail grocery business, advancing his career with BI-LO Food Stores to become at the time the youngest area supervisor. After BI-LO Mr. Dismuke also worked as a food broker for Port Brokerage and Acosta. Mr. Dismuke was fortunate to also have a career in residential home building that matched his talents and passion. He worked for over 15 years as a general contractor in the Augusta area specializing in the construction of custom homes. He was owner of Colonial Home Builders and then McDuffie Contracting until his passing. Family members in addition to his wife include: his mother, Ellen Dismuke of Hephzibah; brother, Mike Dismuke and wife Lorraine of Hephzibah; sisters Karen McGowan and husband Charles of Evans, and Donna Black and husband Tommy of Hephzibah; daughters Barbara and fiancé Dean Ellisor of Lexington, SC, Jenni Mims and husband Lee of Dearing, and Holly Lewis and husband Kirk of Dearing; sons David Dismuke, II and wife Jennifer of Durham, NC, and Steven Dismuke of Dearing. “Pop” also dearly loved his 9 grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Blake, Morgan, Robin, Caleb, Cole, Gracie, and Luke. Mr. Dismuke was preceded in death by his father Joseph Dismuke. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Ken Gross officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Cranford, Brett Jenkins, Randy Johnson, Donald Greene, Austin Greene, and Adam Greene. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Friday at Beggs Funeral Home in Thomson, GA (595-4100).

Wylie A Dallas

January 12, 1946 - September 9, 2009

Mr. Dallas, son of the late Wylie and Marjorie Kennedy Dallas was born in Wilkes County but had lived in Lincoln County all of his life.. He was a retired foreman from Martin Fireproofing. A devout Christian, Mr. Dallas was a member of Goshen Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and Sunday School Teacher. He was a devoted husband of 42 years, father and grandfather who loved hunting, fishing and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Deidra.
Survivors:

Daughter: Meredith D. Brooks
Grandson: Dallas Brooks, all of Lincolnton
Brother: Albert H. “Buddy” Dallas of Gibson, Ga.

Gavin Wayne Butts
October 5, 1983 - September 8, 2009

GAVIN WAYNE BUTTS 25 of Shadowmoor Drive Thomson, GA entered into rest September 08, 2009 in Columbia County, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larron Pilgrim officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Butts was born in Russell, Kansas and was a 2002 graduate of Lincoln County High School. He was a salesman with Pool Heating and Air and was also a former police officer for the City of Lincolnton.

Survivors include his fiance’, Amber Buckner; children, Jayson Myles Buckner and Willow Mae Butts ; parents, Wayne and Donna Butts and sister, Cassandra Jowers, all of Thomson; brothers, Jerry Armstrong, Missouri, Chris Butts, Idaho, Joe Butts, Athens; paternal grandmother, Carolyn June Butts, Thomson; nieces and nephews, Alex Butts, Marie Diaz and Dominic Raye.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Reba Sturdivant Brewer
Retired Supervisor
WARRENTON, Ga. - Mrs. Reba Sturdivant Brewer, 80, beloved wife of Mr. Roy L. Brewer, died Monday, April 7, 2008, at the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., April 10, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of Warrenton, with Dr. Ray Hope and Rev. Wayne Ghann officiating. Burial followed in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Brewer, a native of Taliaferro County, was the daughter of the late Clyde and Elizabeth Sherrer Sturdivant. She was a retired Line Supervisor with Garland Knitting Mills and a homemaker. Mrs. Brewer was a member of the First Baptist Church of Warrenton and the Laura Lee Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Mr. Roy L. Brewer, daughter in law, Carolyn W. Brewer of Thomson, son in law, T. Larry Rachels of Warrenton, four grandchildren, Andy (Vicki) Rachels, Jeremy Rachels, Chris Brewer, and Christi Brewer, two sisters, Shirley Ghann and Mary Dawn Williams both of Madison, Ga., one brother, Tom Sturdivant of Martinez. Her two children, Carroll Brewer and Joan Brewer Rachels, preceded Mrs. Brewer in death.

Pallbearers were the Deacons of First Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Laura Lee Sunday School Class.

Mr. George A. Malcomb

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. George A. Malcomb entered into rest Wednesday, April 23, 2008.

Mr. Malcomb retired from the U.S. Army as well as civil service at Fort Gordon. He was a member of the Fleming Masonic Lodge #718 F. & A.M.; VFW Post #7778 in Thomson; Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Augusta, Orient of Georgia, 32nd degree Mason.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Fleming Christian Church at 11 a.m. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Full military honors were accorded by the ceremonial detachment at Fort Gordon.

Honorary pallbearers were the Fleming Masonic Lodge #718 F. & AM.

Survivors include his daughter, Linda Rackard, and her husband Ted Rackard; son, Eddie Malcomb, and grandchildren, Brandi Ellane Farmer and Dustin Allen Farmer.
