THOMSON, Ga.- Mr. W. DeWitt Campbell, 53, of Tankersley Road, Thomson, entered into rest March 4, 2004, at the Medical College of Georgia.
He was the beloved husband of Sandra Porter Campbell. Survivors are wife, Sandra P. Campbell, Thomson; sons, Patrick R. Campbell, Chattanooga, Tenn., Tyler A. Campbell, Augusta, Ga.; brother, Harold W. Campbell, Fredericksburg, Va. Mr. Campbell was born in Richmond, Virginia and was the son of the late Walter Campbell and the late Minnie Lee Dinsmore.

He had lived in Nashville, Tenn., before moving to Thomson five years ago. Mr. Campbell was a Baptist and retired as an accountant.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Vest officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 1725, Augusta, GA, 30903-1725.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ralph A. Hart (Punchie)

THOMSON, Ga. -- Funeral services for Mr. Ralph A. Hart (Punchie) of Thomson, were held on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Springfield Baptist Church, Thomson, Rev. F.D. Favors, Pastor, officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson.
Survivors are his devoted wife, Mrs. Barbara J. Hart; daughters, Shymeka Hart (Kenneth) of Augusta, Tasha Hart of Thomson; sons, Jermaine Jackson (Ulonder) Of San Diego, CA, Ralph Tony Hart, Jr. of Thomson; brothers, Frank (Lois) James of Evans, Clarence Hart of Thomson, Eugene Hart of Kings Mountain, N.C. and Leonard (Cathy) Hart of Hephzibah; nine grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Annie Grace Johnson

MITCHELL, Ga. - Mrs. Annie Grace Johnson, 70, entered into rest Monday, March 5, 2007, at her residence.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Full Gospel Church with Rev. Everett Johnson, Rev. Charlene Griswold and Rev. Jacky Downs officiating. Interment was in the Mitchell City Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson was a native of Washington County. She was a member of Mitchell Full Gospel Church and she was retired from Stapleton Garment Company as a supervisor after 43 years of service. She enjoyed sewing and gardening very much.

Mrs. Johnson was survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Mr. Gene Johnson of Mitchell; one daughter, Harriett Powell and her loving husband, Ron of Mitchell; one brother, James Jordan of Louisville; three sisters, Jessie Mae Chalker of Thomson, Sara J. McNeeley of Gibson and Virginia Moore of Avera; five grandchildren, Jason (Monona) Parrish, Tabby (Michael) Pittman, Tonya Parrish, Teresa Parrish and Beth Powell and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb and Easton Pittman.

Pallbearers were Ron Powell, Michael Pittman, Charles Roberts, Jr., Teddy Cooper, Buck Parrish and Jacky Haywood.

Honorary pallbearers were James May, Sam Griswold, Gee T. Chalker and Billy Hadden.

Memorials may be made to the Mitchell Full Gospel Church in care of Carol Markins, P.O. Box 212, Gibson, GA 30810.

Sheppard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Walter S. Robinson
GROVETOWN, Ga. - Mr. Walter S. Robinson, 72, beloved husband of Betty Robinson, entered into rest Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Doctors Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at Platt's Belair Road Chapel with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment followed in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

A native of Edgefield, S.C., Mr. Robinson resided in Columbia County for 22 years. He served in the U.S. Army for seven years and retired from Prather Construction after 20 years. He was a life long member of the West Augusta Baptist Church.

Survivors other than his wife, Betty Robinson of Grovetown, include four sons, Dale Robinson (Rhonda), Graniteville, S.C., Stanley Robinson (Suzzane), Warrenville, S.C., Russell Robinson (Joy), Grovetown, and Douglas Robinson (Kathryn) of Evans; four daughters, Debra R. Franks(Steve), Warrenville, S.C., Beverly Fuller (Jack), Grovetown; Melanie R. Gee (Mike), North Augusta, and Patsy R. Smith (Iziah) of Hephzibah; six sisters, Polly Watson, Lexington, S.C., Grace Derrick and Nealie Fields both of Trenton, S.C., Irene Hutchinson and Mae Harrelson both of Martinez and Sue Phillips of Thomson; 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Loyd Cliett, Stacey Phillips, Tracy Phillips, Daniel Robinson, Tommy Callahan and Rick Cliett.

Platt's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Frances Biggerstaff Jones

EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Frances Biggerstaff Jones, 77, wife of the late James E. Jones, entered into rest at the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services were held on Friday March 16, 2007 at Bellevue Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m. with Rev. Grover Lee officiating.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Law and her husband, Wayne of Thomson, Sandra King and her husband, Wesley, of Appling; five grandchildren, Lee King Fox, Beth King Carter, Robert King, Christopher Law, Joseph Law; five great-grandchildren, Brooks Carter, Banks Carter, Benjamin Carter, Libby Lee Carter, Emily Law.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by one daughter, Shelby Jones Henderson, and a brother, Billy Biggerstaff.

Mrs. Jones retired from the Columbia County Board of Commisioners, she was a member of the Martinez Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Miriam May Benson

NORWOOD, Ga. - Mrs. Miriam May Benson, 84, beloved wife of the late Jack H. Benson, died peacefully at her daughter's home on Wednesday March 8, 2006.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the First Assembly of God, 1613 Fenwick Street, Augusta, with the Revs. John F. Moore & Baxter Stanley officiating. Interment services followed at 1 p.m. in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson.

Mrs. Benson, a native of Glascock County was a resident of Warren County for almost 60 years before moving to Augusta to live with her daughter. She was a devoted housewife and mother and gave her whole life to her family and her animals. After she moved in with her daughter, she brightened many lives with her beautiful smile and loving personality. She was a member of the Cleopatra chapter #241 of the Eastern Star and Norwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Benson attended First Assembly of God for the last five years.

Survivors include her daughter, Jackie Benson Barnes, Augusta; four sons, Norman "Butch" Benson, Columbia, Thomas H. (Lynn) Benson, Atlanta, Michael "Mike" (Alice) Benson, Brunswick, and Dennis (Kathy) Benson, North Augusta; four grandsons, Tony, Stacy, David, and Jeff. Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her parents, John Roy and Gladys Lockhart May, and a sister, Zelma Lokey Hiney.

Pallbearers were members of the First Assembly of God.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Rd. Augusta, GA 30904, or Norwood Baptist Church C/O Mrs. Betty Jo Hadden 2906 Macon Highway Warrenton, GA 30828, or First Assembly of God, 1613 Fenwick St., Augusta, GA 30904.

Mr. Ferman "Jack" Roberts

THOMSON, Ga. - Funeral Services for Mr. Ferman "Jack" Roberts, of Thomson were held on Monday, March 19, 2007, at 3:30 p.m. at the New Zion Hill A.M.E. Church with Rev. William Wright Jr. officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Roberts; one son, Leon Roberts; two stepsons, James Ervin Roberts and Eldley Roberts all of Perry, Fla.; three sisters, Juanita Moss, Lucillie (Ervin) Kendrick and Nancy (Robert) McNair; three brothers, Austin Roberts, George Willie (Linda) Roberts, and Sam Roberts all of Thomson; two aunts, Georgia Mae Jones and Katrina Roberts, both of Thomson, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Ralph E. Bales

MITCHELL, Ga.- Rev. Ralph E. Bales, 87, loving husband of the late Mrs. Glenice Cooper Bales, entered into rest March 13, 2004, at Washington County Regional Medical Center, Sandersville.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Monday, March 15, 2004, at the Mitchell Full Gospel Church, Mitchell, with the Rev. Chris Williford, Rev. Jacky Downs and Rev. Eddie Renew officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Rev. Bales was a native of Washington County, but lived in Glascock County most of his life. Rev. Bales was founder and Sr. Pastor of Mitchell Full Gospel Church for 29 years. He was a farmer, carpenter, brick mason and a school bus driver. Rev. Bales loved his congregation at his church very much.

Rev. Bales was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Rev. Bales is survived by one son, Gary Bales; two daughter, Cristal Hunnicutt and Kay Downs, all of Mitchell; two brothers, Roger Bales of Gibson and Bill Bales of Thomson; two sisters, Ethel Wood of Thomson and Louise McNeal of Gibson; six grandchildren, Brian Bales, Craig Hunnicutt, Melanie Williford, Chad Downs, Kyle Downs and Amber Downs; six great- grandchildren, Hayleigh Batchelor, Katelyn Hunnicutt, Brandon Usry, Carson Downs, Taylor Bales and the late Kelsey Hunnicutt.

Pallbearers were Ron Powell, Sam Griswold, Kent Daniel, Robert Landrum, Gene Johnson and James Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons.

Mr. Don William Wiley
Retired Flagman
DAWSONVILLE, Ga. -- Mr. Don William Wiley, 53 of Dawsonville, Ga., entered into rest March 8, 2005.
He was the son of Margaret Ann Kennedy Wiley and the late Frank Thomas Wiley, Jr. of Thomson, Ga. He was preceded in death by his brother, Duane T. Wiley. Don was a wonderful son, daddy, brother, uncle, great friend, and a very proud Papa. Don will truly be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.

Mr. Wiley is survived by his son, Chris (Kim) Wiley of Dawsonville, Ga.; daughter, Lisa W. (David) Chester of Dawsonville, Ga.; brother, Daryl (Laurie) Wiley of Thomson; two sisters, Dayna W. (Paul) Hicks of Cumming, Ga., and Detra W. (Tony) Pate of Thomson; and one granddaughter, Georgia Ann Chester.

Mr. Wiley was born in Corinth, Miss., but lived in the Gainesville and Dawsonville area most of his life. He was retired as a flagman with Southern Railway after 25 years of service. He coached Little League and was past President of the Dawson County Booster Club. Mr. Wiley was also a member of Etowah River Church of Christ.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Hicks and Tony Pate officiating. Interment followed in Westview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Kennedy, Nick Wiley, Brad Wiley, Shannon Stephens, Matthew Wilson, Robby McCleod, Terry Stephens and Tony Bennett. Honorary Pallbearer was Carson Wiley.

Mrs. Nellie McDaniel
AUGUSTA, Ga.-Entered into rest Sunday, March 7, 2004 at the Medical College of Georgia, Mrs. Nellie McDaniel of Grand Blvd.
Mrs. McDaniel was a native of McDuffie County, but made her home in Augusta. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of which Rev. Thomas Walker, is pastor, where she served on the Missionary Ministry.

Survivors include a devoted daughter, Mrs. Betty J. Moss; two sons, Mr. Alvin McDaniel, Augusta, Mr. Tilman McDaniel, Augusta; brother, Mr. Robert Hart, Thomson; sister, Mrs. Lorraine Jackson, Thomson; four devoted grandchildren, Ms. Yolanda Hart, Darrell McDaniel, Atlanta, Ms. Kenya Johnson, Charlotte, N.C. and Brandon McDaniel.

Arrangements will be announced later.

Mrs. Mozelle Ritley Kendrick

THOMSON, Ga. - Funeral services for Mrs. Mozelle Ritley Kendrick, 60, of Thomson were held Saturday, March 17, 2007, at 4 p.m. at the Springfield Baptist Church, with Rev. Frederick D. Favors, pastor, officiating.

Interment was in Hickory Tree Cemetery.

Survivors are her husband, Wymon Kendrick, Thomson; one daughter, Cindy Ritley, Thomson, and two grandchildren, Nina Ritley and Tyrall Ritley; five great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of arrangements.
