Lizzie Mae Frazier

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Lizzie Mae Frazier was held Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Wiggins officiating. Burial was at Swainsboro City Cemetery.
She died August 26, 2002, at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.
She is survived by three sisters, Carrie Scott, Isabelle Frazier and Isamae Frazier, all of Swainsboro; one brother, James Frazier of Swainsboro; a sister-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were friends and family.
Mosley's Funeral Home, Inc. had charge of arrangements.

Hattie Roberts Whitfield, 69

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Hattie Roberts Whitfield, 69, was held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Greater St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. Bennie Brinson officiating. Burial was at Swainsboro City Cemetery.
She died Aug. 31, 2002, at Fairview Park Hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. Whitfield was born in Swainsboro to parents Jack and Ruth Roberts. She was a member of the Greater St. James Baptist Church since an early age. She was employed at Emanuel County Hospital as an LPN for 35 years until her retirement in 1988. She was also a beautician for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Coleman Whitfield.
Survivors include three daughters, Lavonne Banks of Jersey City, N.J., Yvette Mercer, and Jacklyn Roberts, both of Swainsboro; one son, Aldene Roberts of Swainsboro; two sisters, Janie Roberson of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Annie Scott of Queens, N.Y.; one brother, Charlie Thomas of Swainsboro; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were friends and family.
Moseley's Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Ray Thomas Allen

Funeral for Ray Thomas Allen was held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at 4:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Stillmore with the Rev. Amos Hanson officiating and The Rev. James Clark assisting. Burial was at Stillmore City Cemetery.
He died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002 at Northwest Health Care Center after an extended illness.
Mr. Allen was a native of Emanuel County and member of Tucker Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masons.
Survivors include one daughter, Debra Bouie of Newark, N.J.; six sisters, Willie Mae Spann of Norma, N.J., Nellie Conner of Syracuse, N.Y., Mary George and Barbara Wilkins, both of Metter, Annie Lois Brantley of Twin City and Vera Ali of Atlanta; seven brothers, James Allen and Charlie Allen, both of Syracuse, N.Y., Delton Allen, Paul Allen, John Allen and Larry Allen, all of Atlanta, and William Allen of Twin City; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were nephews and flower bearers were nieces.
Mosley's Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

W.B. "Bill" Rhoden, 88

COBBTOWN--Funeral for W.B. "Bill" Rhoden, 88, was held Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002. at 2 p.m. at Cobbtown United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Sunlight Cemetery.
He died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002 at Toombs County Nursing Home.
A Tattnall County native, Mr. Rhoden was owner of the Jesup Sentinel newspaper for almost 30 years. He was a former Kiwanian and served on the Methodist Board of Stewards. He was also a member of Cobbtown United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school classes.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Rhoden of Cobbtown; one daughter, Dottie R. Hicks of Cobbtown; one sister, Marion Carmichael of Swainsboro and two grandchildren.
Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Home of Metter had charge of arrangements.

Raymond "Little Ray" James, 22

HEPHZIBAH--Funeral for Raymond "Little Ray" James was held Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at DeLoach Funeral Home, Hephzibah Chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Marion Jay officiating.
He died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, in Jefferson County from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Mr. James was a native of Richmond County and a lifelong resident of Hephzibah. He was a Hephzibah High School graduate and a member of Big K. Hunting Club in Summertown. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He played recreation baseball and softball and coached little league. He was employed by Mark Mims Landclearing of Hephzibah. He was also a member of Miracle Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Austin Bo James of Columbia County; his parents, Raymond and Evelyn James of Hephzibah; two sisters, Cassandra Ann James and Jennifer Lynn James, both of Hephzibah; one brother, Timothy Shawn James of Hephzibah; four grandparents and one great- grandfather.
Pallbearers were Daniel Nicoles, Lester King, Bill Shiver, Tim James, Brad Harmen, John Thomas Kitchens, Ruben Spively, Dusty Heitz and Chris Dore.
DeLoach Funeral Home of Hephzibah had charge of arrangements.

Adelle Salter Jones, 81

KITE--Funeral for Adelle Salter Jones, 81, was held Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at 4 p.m. at Claxton Grove Baptist Church in Kite with the Rev. Lewis Brantley officiating. Burial was at St. Paul Cemetery.
She died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002.
Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Abe Salter and Lannie Jackson Salter and the wife of the late George Lewis Jones. She was also the sister of the late Midas "Mike" Salter. She joined Claxton Grove Baptist Church at an early age. After getting married, she moved to Detroit, Mich. and joined the New St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church were she served faithfully as a Nurse's Guild.
Survivors include two brothers, Curtis Lee Salter of Kite and Alton Salter of Macon; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and relatives.
Honorary pallbearers were Rollie Oglesby, James Butts, Eculmus Brown, Curtis Thomas, L.C. Jackson and Wendell Jackson.
Active pallbearers were A.B. Salter, Emmett Salter, Michael Salter, Anthony Clover, Alvin Salter and Derek Clover.
Mosley's Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Barney Clayton Shepard Sr., 76

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Barney Clayton Shepard Sr., 76, was held Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Randall Ray officiating.
He died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at Johnson County Nursing Home in Scott after an extended illness.
A native of Johnson County, Mr. Shepard was a WWII Army veteran, retired owner of BCS Trucking, Co. and served many years with Swainsboro Police Dept. He attended Calvary United Methodist Church, was a past member of the Moose Club and an Honorary Emanuel County Deputy.
Survivors include his wife, Bonita Collins Shepard of Swainsboro; two daughters, Sandra Shepard Bailes of Atlanta and Callie Melissa Burch of North Augusta, S.C.; two sons, Barney Clayton Shepard Jr. and Clayton Lee Shepard, both of Swainsboro; and one sister, Louise Shepard of Kite.
Pallbearers were Johnny Durden, Allen Durden, Billy Fields, Donny W. Fields, Junior Mason, Willis Claxton, Terry Bell and Billy Page.
Honorary pallbearers were past and present employees of Swainsboro Police Dept. and members of Thunderwolves Motorcycle Club.

W. S. Boatright, 78

PORT WENTWORTH--Funeral for W. S. Boatright, 78, was held Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel. Burial was at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
He died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002 at Candler Hospital.
Mr. Boatright was a native of Emanuel County but lived in Port Wentworth for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth where he served as Deacon for several years. He was retired from Union Camp and served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He also enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Boatright of Port Wentworth; two daughters, Dianne Boatright of Port Wentworth and Gladys Sikes of Guyton; one brother, James Earl "Pete" Boatright of Swainsboro; one sister, Mae Jean Moore of Port Wentworth; two stepchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel had charge of arrangements.

Emmie Louise Waters, 94

REBECCA--Funeral for Emmie Louise Waters, 94, was held Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at 2:30 p.m. at Rebecca United Methodist Church with the Rev. Emory Corbett and the Rev. Guy Mathis officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
She died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at Ashburn Health Care after an extended illness.
A native of Atlanta, Mrs. Waters was the daughter of the late Jim W. and Mary Ann Fry Haynie. She was a member of Rebecca United Methodist Church, Rebecca United Methodist Women's Group and Lillian Gilmore Sunday school class. She was also a member of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas McArthur Waters Sr. in 1978 and her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Perry in 1998.
Survivors include two sons, T. M. Waters Jr., and Hal F. Waters, both of Rebecca; one brother, James W. Haynie of Cordele; one sister, Margie Cape of Cordele; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Waters, Donnie Gibbs, Chuck Perry, Mark Waters, Tim Holcombe and Burly Page.
Perry Funeral Chapel, Inc. of Ashburn had charge of arrangements.

Nell D. Radford Walke, 81

TALLAHASSEE, FLA.--Funeral for Nell D. Radford Walke, 81, was held Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church near Kite with Elder Woodrow Beasley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002 at her residence.
A native of Sparta, Mrs. Walke was a beautician and a member of the Elks Club and Moose Club. She was also a member of Thomasville Primitive Baptist Church and was the wife of the late Elder Cleon Radford and the late Ralph Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond H. Walke of Tallahassee, Fla.; one daughter, Fran Monk of Tallahassee, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Michelle Degan and Danielle Walke, both of Des Moines, Iowa; two stepsons, Jon Walke of Lom Poc, Calif. and Gary Walke of Bondurant, Iowa; two sisters, Ruth Batson and Gayle Moon, both of Greensboro; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.
