Harold Gray Rooks, 80

METTER--Funeral for Harold Gray Rooks, 80, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial will be at Rosemary Cemetery.
He died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at Candler County Hospital.
Mr. Rooks was a native and lifelong resident of Candler County and lived in the Union Community. He was a retired farmer, U.S. Army veteran of World War II and member of VFW and Farm Bureau.
Survivors include one brother, Bill Rooks of Augusta; two sisters, Martha R. Bird of Metter and Kathleen Cavin of McDonough; several nieces and nephews.
Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Home, Hooks Chapel of Metter had charge of arrangements.

Muris Lanier Gay Sr., 70

MILLEN--Graveside service for Muris Lanier Gay Sr., 70, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Elam Baptist Church cemetery near Millen with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating.
He died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.
A native of Jenkins County, Mr. Gay was a construction worker and farmer. He was a member of Elam Baptist Church near Millen. He was brother of the late Dee Gay and the late Riner Gay.
Survivors include three daughters, Becky Martin of Bainbridge, Paulette Butler of Barnesville and Malissa Bazemore of Guyton; one son, M.L. Gay Jr. of Swainsboro; four sisters, Rebie Johnson of Garfield, Eris Wright of Homestead, Fla. and Margaret Blackburn and Tommie Canady, both of Millen; one brother, Tyree Gay of Augusta; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Raymond Blackburn, Randy Blackburn, Franklin Johnson, Mitchell Johnson, Fern Johnson, Ricky Johnson and George Wright.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary has charge of arrangements.

Lartie B. Kea, 76

ADRIAN-- Funeral for Lartie B. Kea, 76, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Everett Foskey officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
He died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Kea, a native of Emanuel County and son of the late William Jordan and Fossie Sandifer Kea, lived most of his life in Dublin. He was retired from J.P. Stevens, East Dublin after 42 years. He attended New Life Church of the Nazarene in Adrian. He was preceded in death by a son, John R. Kea.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Dell Johnson Kea; one son, Ron Kea of Dublin; a sister, Eloise Morris of Adrian; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Underwood, Gerald Shurling, George Reid Kea, Clark Morris, Dick Walden and Joel Kea.
Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers of J.P. Stevens, East Dublin.
Sammons Funeral Home of Soperton has charge of arrangements.

Catherine W. Bright, 55

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Catherine W. Bright, 55, was held Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Greater St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. Bennie Brinson and Elder Charles Spikes officiating. Burial was at Adrian Memorial Cemetery.
She died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002 at Doctor's Hospital.
A Johnson County native, Mrs. Bright was a graduate of Emanuel County Schools. She was a member of House of God Church. She was a graduate of Paine College with a B.A. in Criminal Justice. She was also a foster parent for several years and a substitute teacher in Richmond County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Bright; her daughter, Joy Keisa Bright; and her father, Willie Lee Williams.
Survivors include her mother, Fannie L. Williams of Swainsboro; two daughters, Katresa J.B. Grissom and Kendra Nicole Bright, both of Augusta; two sisters, Ruby L. Williams of Camden, N.J. and Elder Mae Bivins of Swainsboro; four brothers, Willie Lee Williams Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa., Curtis Williams of Swainsboro, Clinton Thomas and Curmit Williams, both of Augusta; and several relatives.
Pallbearers were Jamaal Rountree, Antonio Bradburn and Bobby Lloyd.
Mosley's Funeral Home, Inc. had charge of arrangements.

Tralonda Latrice Williams, 16

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Tralonda Latrice Williams, 16, was held Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Smith Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Benji Waters officiating. Burial was at Stillmore City Cemetery
She died Oct. 26, 2002, at Emanuel Medical Center after a brief illness.
A native of Emanuel County, Miss Williams was a 10th grade student at Swainsboro High School and member of the Partnership Club and JROTC. She was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church where she sang in the youth choir.
Survivors include her mother, Annie Williams of Swainsboro; father, Quenton Clark; stepfather, George D. Young; two sisters, Amber Clark and Latasha Clark, both of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; one brother, Jamie Clark of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Pallbearers were Jeffery Clark, Larry Williams, Terrence Carlyle Andrew Clark, Paul Curle and Kevin Bell Sr.
Mosley's Funeral Home, Inc. had charge of arrangements.

Wauline Carswell Jackson, 48

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Wauline Carswell Jackson, 48, was held Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Midville with Evangelist I.B. Snell officiating. Burial was at Green Cemetery.
She died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, after an extended illness.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Jackson was the daughter of the late Curtis and Almetta Carswell. She received her education in the public schools of Hillsboro County, Tampa, Fla. She was a housewife and member of the Ada Grove Pentecostal Church of Swainsboro.
Survivors include two daughters, Enika Shicker of Midville and Tranika Carswell of Charleston, S.C.; two sons, Enoch Carswell and Unrico Carswell, both of Midville; two brothers, Curtis Carswell Jr. of Atlanta and Freddie Carswell of Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Mary Knight, Minister Orinetta McGruder and Elouise Kelly, all of Midville; five grandchildren and several relatives.
Pallbearers were Cedric Carswell, Delvecchio Kelly, Dennis Kelly Jr., Demetrius Knight, John Knight Jr. and Izell McGruder III.
Honorary pallbearers were Gordon Carswell Jr., Willis Harmon, Dennis Kelly and Izell McGruder.
Jogresan Mortuary, Inc. of Wadley had charge of arrangements.

Eva Oliver Collins, 89

METTER--Funeral for Eva Oliver Collins, 89, was held Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at Cedar Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Wilson and the Rev. Johnny Beasley officiating. Burial was at Lake Cemetery.
She died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at Candler County Hospital.
A native of Screven County, Mrs. Collins lived most of her life in Candler County. She was a retired inspector for Twin City Manufacturing Co. and member of Cedar Street Baptist Church, Mary Sunday School Class and Golden Agers. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Harley Collins Sr.
Survivors include one son, John Collins of Metter; three daughters, Jo Nell Beasley of Midway, Andrea Davis of Valdosta and Linda Kirkland of Summertown; one sister, Clara Bell of Alexander; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Hugh Dorsey Price, 84

WADLEY--Funeral for Hugh Dorsey Price, 84, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002 at 3 p.m. at Nails Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Lumpkin, the Rev. Randy Walden and the Rev. Jim Rawls officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
He died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002 at Jefferson County Hospital of Louisville.
Mr. Price, formerly of Louisville, was born in Johnson County and lived in Wadley the past two years. He was a retired carpenter and member of Nails Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Belle W. Price of Louisville; one daughter, JoAnn Brantley of Kite; one brother, Buford Price of Wrightsville; two sisters, Sarah Alexander of Pembroke and Ola Hatchett of Sandersville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Alan Brantley, Michael Brantley, Jamie Hieronymus, Franklin McTier, Larry Purvis and Brent Cason.
Honorary pallbearers are W.P. Brown and T.W. Williford.
Smith Funeral Home of Wadley has charge of arrangements.

C. A. Price, 91

TWIN CITY--Funeral for C.A. Price, 91, was held Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Baptist Rest Primitive Baptist Church of Twin City with Elder Tommy McGee and Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial was at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
He died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at Statesboro Nursing Home.
A native of Johnson County, Mr. Price was the son of the late P.G. and Trudie Mathis Price. He was a master carpenter and member of the Baptist Rest Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nyla Faye Price of Twin City; one daughter, Marsha Price Greer of Douglasville; one son, Drew Price of Gibson; a sister, Lula Mae McNeely of Kite; three brothers, Doyce Price of Summertown, P.G. Price of Beach Island S.C. and Shirkey Price of Columbus; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were nephews, Jon Price, David McNeely, George Lumpkin, Larry Price, Denny Price, Rickey Price, Harry Price and Dean Price.
Honorary pallbearers were Emmitt Rountree, Lee Rountree, Phagen Watson, Charles Woods, Johnny Scott, Sonny Trapnell, Billy Brown and Jessie Scott.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Ruby Kight Garland, 71

SWAINSBORO-- Funeral for Ruby Kight Garland, 71, was held Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at 3 p.m. at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Bert Flanders and the Rev. Donnie Bush officiating. Burial was at Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
She died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta after an extended illness.
A native of Johnson County, Mrs. Garland was a homemaker and member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. She was wife of the late Howard Otis Garland and mother of the late Larry Sheppard and Effie Sheppard.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Janice Prickett of Matthews; five sisters, Doris Adams of Glenwood, Joann Mason and Emmer Cooper, both of Kite, Juanita Bush of Swainsboro and Ernestine Harper of Forsyth; one brother, J.T. "Red" Kight of Swainsboro; 3 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 3 adopted children.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.
