Myers Futch, 76

TITUSVILLE, FLA.--Graveside services for Myers Futch, 76, were held Saturday, May 31, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Union Grove cemetery of Emanuel County.
He died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Parrish Medical Center.
A native of Emanuel County, Mr. Futch moved to Brevard County in 1956 after serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of Ironworkers Union Local 808 for 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Futch of Titusville, Fla.; three daughters, Dianne Migilis of St. Augustine, Fla., Janet Rosel of Titusville, Fla. and Judy LeBeau of Lake City, Fla.; one son, Mike Futch of Titusville, Fla.; three stepchildren, Benjamin Morel of Kildare, Ga., Andrew Morel and Donna Morel, both of Titusville, Fla.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Russell Perry Scarboro, 85

WADLEY--Funeral for Russell Perry Scarboro, 85, was held Monday, June 2, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Wadley Methodist Church with Dr. Larry Sauls and the Rev. Kenneth Watkins officiating. Burial was at Wadley City Cemetery.
He died Saturday, May 31, 2003, under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
A native of Johnson County, Mr. Scarboro lived in Wadley all his life. He was a former member of Wadley City Council and former member of Jefferson County School Board. He owned and operated Scarboro Service Station and Garage of Wadley for many years, was a retired vocational education teacher of Wadley High School and a retired correctional officer of Jefferson County PWC. Mr.. Scarboro was a veteran of World War II, member of American Legion Post 225, and member of Wadley United Methodist Church where he served as administrative board chairman, lay leader and Sunday school teacher of the men's Bible class for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Inez Whitened Scarboro of Wadley; one daughter, Daphne Scarboro Sanders of Wadley; one brother, Joe Scarboro of Harridan; ones sister, Virginia Scarboro Smith of Augusta; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Greg Scarboro, Craig Scarboro, Keith Scarboro, Miles Scarboro Jr., James Moxley and George Moxley.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the men's Bible class and administrative board members of Wadley United Methodist Church.
Smith Funeral Home of Wadley had charge of arrangements.

Alma Ruth Brown, 84

TWIN CITY--Funeral for Alma Ruth Brown, 84, was held Sunday, June 1, 2003, at 3 p.m. at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Beasley and the Rev. Ronnie Collins officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.
She died Friday, May 30, 2003, at Metter Nursing Home after an extended illness.
A native of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church of Twin City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus C. Brown and son, Harvey Lee Brown.
Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Jones of Baxley and Ester Spires of Alexander; two sons, James Brown and David Brown, both of Twin City; one sister, Naomi Branting of Tampa, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Shannon Brown, Vincent Spires, Roger Spires, Earl Spires, Henry Crosby and Kevin Ronco.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Bernice White Byrd, 81

STILLMORE--Funeral for Bernice White Byrd, 81, was held Saturday, May 31, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Stillmore Deliverance Center with Elder James Blair officiating. Burial was at Stillmore City Cemetery.
She died Friday, May 23, 2003, at Candler County Hospital after an extended illness.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Byrd attended public schools and was a member of First Baptist Church of Stillmore.
She is survived by one sister, Sallie Camper of Stillmore; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Reno Tapley Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

India Gay Rountree

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for India Gay Rountree was held Saturday, June 14 at 2 p.m. at Swainsboro First United Methodist Church. Officiating were Rev. Benji Varnell, Rev. Nita Crump-Howard and Rev. Wayne De Fore. Burial was at Twin City Cemetery.
Mrs. Rountree died Friday, June 13 at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.
Mrs. Rountree was born Feb. 15, 1910 in Jenkins County and was the daughter of the late Batt and Susanna Gay. A longtime resident of Emanuel County, she was the widow of Olan Perry Rountree. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Rountree Reid; a son, Mike Rountree of Canoochee; two sister, Kate Gay Lanier of Millen and Leah Gay Brock of Clarkston; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Will Gay, Wesley Hendley, Ronald Wade Rountree, Robert Rountree, Harry G. Merritt, Bill Rogers Jr., Darriel Lane, James Byrd Flanders and Jeff Peebles.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Rountree, Sid Shepherd, Ralph Foskey, Butch Frye, Charlie Cowart, Woody Key, Bill Carmichael and Greg Bennett.
Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

George H. White, 61

STATESBORO--Funeral for George H. White, 61, was held Tuesday, June 17 at 2 p.m. in the Jake A. Futch Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Gary Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Brannen Family Cemetery.
Mr. White died Sunday, June 15 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
A native of Emanuel County, he lived most of his life in Bulloch County. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a self-employed contractor. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie N. White of Statesboro; two daughters, Angie Webb of Portal and Vickie Lynn White of Twin City; five sons, Stephen White of Register; Hank Fielders of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and Ricky Stacy White, Roger Earl White and Roy James White, all of Statesboro; four sisters, Linda Rountree of Swainsboro; Martha Campbell of Vidalia; Vera Deal and Annie Ruth Underwood of Twin City; three brothers, Gray White of Statesboro; Bill White of Camden, S.C.; and John White of Twin City; and 12 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joe Underwood, Calvin White, Jack "Buddy" Brinson, Jack White, Tommy White and Steven Davis. Honorary pallbearers were David Morris, G.G. Lynn, Randy Morris, Jerry Jennings and Greg Jennings.
Jake A. Futch Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Willie (Pocket) Hannah Jr., 77

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Willie (Pocket) Hannah Jr. was held Tuesday, June 10 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Mosley Funeral Home. He died June 5 at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was born May 9, 1926 in Emanuel County to the late Willie Hannah Sr. and Della Hannah of Twin City. He was a lifelong resident of Twin City where he met and married the late Mary Elizabeth Hannah. He was a member of Roundtree Chapel Baptist Church for many years. He retired from Lifeline Manufacturing Company after 30 years of service.
Survivors include five sons, James Willie Mitchell of Jacksonville, Fla.; Dennis Johnson and Billy Johnson, both of Twin City; Phillip Johnson of Powder Springs; and Donald Johnson of Villa Rica; a daughter, Jeannette McDaniel of Palm Coast, Fla.; six grandchildren, 14 other grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Isaiah Bennifield, Kelvin Carlyle, Anthony Clonts, Pip Baitey and Ennis Warren.
Mosley Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Diane Taylor, 53

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Diane Taylor was held Sunday, June 15 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Mosley Funeral Home with Elder D.G. Mosley officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
She died Thursday, June 12.
She was born in Ridge, Md., Aug. 29, 1949.
Survivors include two daughters, Valarie Bryan and Benita Turner, both of Swainsboro; a son, Zachary Bryan of Chesapeake, Va.; a sister, Jeanette Price of Ridge, Md.; two brothers, Andrew Jenifer of Washington, D.C. and Francis Greenwell of Lexington Park, Md.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
Mosley Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Willie Gene Mincey, 54

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Willie Gene Mincey was held Saturday, June 14 at 2 p.m. at Union Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. William McLeod officiating. Burial was in Union Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Mincey died Monday, June 9 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla.
He was born in Emanuel County Oct. 16, 1948 to the late Archie Dee Mincey and Rosielee Clark. He was a resident of Emanuel County for several years before moving to Bacon County, Fla. He was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Mincey of Oak Park; and Melissa Bell of Vidalia; two sons, Timmy Clark and Anthony Mincey, both of Swainsboro; four sisters, Queeny Mae Mincey and Gloria Doyle of Swainsboro; Daisy Mincey of Twin City; and Ella Mincey of Rincon; three brothers, Archie Mincey of Twin City; Ray Clark Jr. of Waycross; and Carl Mincey of Swainsboro; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Truman McKinney Jr., Don McKinney, Clarence Turner, Keran McKinney, John McKinney and Leon McKinney.
Mosley Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Cleon 'Pete" Johnson, 69

TWIN CITY--Funeral for Cleon "Pete" Johnson will be held Wednesday, June 18 in the chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Rev. Donald Youngblood officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
He died Sunday, June 15 at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 30, 1933 in Emanuel County to the late Leon and Annie Sutton Johnson. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Norma Jean Hudson of Twin City; two sons, David Johnson and Christopher Johnson, both of Twin City; two daughters, Mrs. Sharlene McCoy of Wrightsville and Crystal Hall of Twin City; a brother, Franklin Johnson of Orlando, Fla.; three sisters, Nellie Pruitt and Annette Hall, both of Twin City; and Martha Jean Bryant of Augusta; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lamar Hall, Irwin Brinson, Joshua McCoy, Bishop Pruitt, Homer Hudson and David Hudson.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
