HARDEEVILLE - Telia Mae Smith Lassiter, 83, died Dec. 1 at Alterra Sterling House on Hilton Head Island.

The Grays native was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Hardeeville.

SURVIVORS: a son, Ronald E. Lassiter of Bluffton; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Joseph R. Barker of Hilton Head Island; a stepson, James A. Clatlin of West Hills, Calif.; and grandchildren, Lauren Barker of Hilton Head, Melissa Lassiter of Bluffton, Chad G. Lassiter of Sandy, Utah, Jason Lassiter of Macon, and Ryan Lassiter of Bluffton; and a step-grandchild, Cheri Clatlin of West Hills.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Sauls Funeral Home in Ridgeland.

FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Sunday at Maye River Baptist Church in Bluffton, burial in the church cemetery.

William H. Lee Sr.

William Henry Lee Sr., 80, died Nov. 30 at Hospice Savannah.

He was born in Savannah and was a World War II veteran, having served in the Merchant Marines. He retired from Union Camp Corp., having worked as a millwright. He was a member of Montgomery Presbyterian Church, a member of the Barber Shoppers Quartet, a member of Zerubbabel Lodge #15 F&AM;, the Scottish Rite Consistory-Valley of Savannah and Alee Shrine Temple.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Dorothy Harrison Benson Lee of Savannah; a daughter, Linda Lee Woodward Burke of Savannah; a sister, Deanie Cola Lee Sullivan of Screven; three grandchildren, Cynthia L. Woodward and William Scott-Miller Woodward, both of Savannah and Michelle L. Woodward of Madeira Beach, Fla.; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. todayat Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 3 p.m. Sunday at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, burial in Bonaventure Cemetery.

Robert F. Livingston

SOPERTON - Robert F. Livingston, 66, died Dec. 1 at the V.A. Medical Center in Dublin.

He was the widower of Doris Powell Livingston and Algie Chambers Livingston. He was retired from the Navy having served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He attended Lothair United Methodist Church.

SURVIVORS: five sons, Robbie Livingston of Jacksonville, Fla., Charles, Chester, Everett and Eddie Livingston, all of Soperton; a sister, Beatrice Clements of Soperton; three grandchildren, Robin Livingston of Jacksonville, and Robert Lee Livingston and Caleb Livingston, both of Soperton.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Sammons Funeral Home.

FUNERAL: 4 p.m. Sunday at Sammons Funeral Home, burial in Rosemont cemetery in Treutlen County with military honors.

Johnny D. Mincey

GLENNVILLE - Johnny Dorsey Mincey, 50, of White Pines community died Nov. 29 at home.

He was born in Tattnall County and was a graduate of Tattnall Industrial High School in Reidsville. He was a brick mason and self-employed. He was a member of Oak Grove AME Church in Manassas.

SURVIVORS: two daughters, Cassonya Frazier of Glennville and Mengia Dixon of Orlando, Fla.; three sons, Lee Harris of San Antonio and Donnie Mincey and Dorsey Derrick Mincey II, both of Glennville; his mother, Thelma Johnson of Glennville; two sisters, Lethea Dean Revis of Hempstead, N.Y., and Gloria Jean Brown of San Antonio; five brothers, Fenton Mincey, Ollie Mincey, Cleveland Mincey and Levon Johnson, all of Glennville and Earl Mincey of Atlanta.

VISITATION: 7-8 p.m. today at King and Son's Funeral Home, Glennville.

SERVICE: 1 p.m. Sunday at Oak Grove AME Church, Manassas, burial in Glennville City Cemetery.

Jimmie W. Miness

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Jimmie W. Miness, 65, died Dec. 1 at home.

The Liberty County native lived in Charleston for the past 38 years. He owned the One Hour Valet Laundry and Dry Cleaners in Charleston for 30 years. He was active in the Cutting Horse Association in Charleston for many years and was a founding member of Live Oak Church of God in Hinesville.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Louise Kennedy Miness of Charleston; a son, Darrell Miness of Charleston; a brother, Ellis Miness of Hinesville; two sisters, Fay Morris and Bobbie Jean Poole, both of Hinesville; and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Carter Funeral Home, Oglethorpe Chapel in Hinesville.

FUNERAL: 2 p.m Sunday at Carter Funeral Home, Oglethorpe Chapel, burial in Wells Family cemetery near Hinesville.

James W. Owens

James Wilson Owens, 87, died Dec. 1 in Swainsboro.

He was born in Jesup and lived in Savannah for more than 82 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple for more than 68 years and was deacon emeritus of the church and was a member of Baraccas Sunday School Class for more than 40 years. He was retired from Great Dane Trailers, having served as a supervisor.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Ouida Lanier Owens of Savannah; three daughters, Shirley O. Wilder of Midway, Margaret O. Harvey of Rincon and Harriett O. Ray of Swainsboro; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel.

FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Baptist Temple, burial in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.

Clara Parrish

SYLVANIA - Mrs. Clara Parrish, 93, died Nov. 30 at Screven County Hospital.

The South Carolina native was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Hilltonia.

SURVIVORS: a son, John W. Parrish of Hilltonia; a daughter, Lizzie Cooper of Patterson, N.J.; a sister, Eva M. Lewis of Waynesboro; 26 grandchildren and 93 great-great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: noon-6 p.m. today at Sylvania Funeral Home.

FUNERAL: 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, burial in Dickey Grove Cemetery.

Willie B. Prescott

SYLVANIA - Willie Bill Prescott, 91, died Nov. 28 at home.

He was born in Screven County. He had been an employee of the Coca Cola Bottling Co., for many years and later was retired from Augusta Concrete Company in Augusta. He was a member of Little Bethel AME Church.

SURVIVORS: four sons, Hubert Prescott of Sylvania, Andy Prescott of Hilltonia, Mickey Prescott of Millen and Gary Prescott of Sylvania; six daughters, Mimie L. Sims of Atlanta, Grace Prescott of East Orange, N.J., Joyce Tanksley, Nell Brinson and Betty Prescott, all of Hilltonia, and Linda Prescott of Sylvania; 70 grandchildren, 141 great-grandchildren, 34 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

SERVICE: 1:30 p.m. today at St. Andrews Untied Methodist Church in Sylvania, burial in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Alberta K. Sparks

MOUNT JULIET, Tenn. - Alberta Kitchings Sparks died Nov. 29.

She was born in Savannah.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Leon Sparks; three children, Barbara Jean Marsh, Craig Sparks and David Sparks; two brothers, Reggie Kitchings and Lantis Kitchings; and four grandchildren.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10 a.m. today at Hermitage Funeral Home.

Henry W. Wallace

BEAUFORT - Henry Watson Wallace, 18, died Nov. 30 at Fernandina Beach, Fla.

The Beaufort native had attended Beaufort Academy from first through the eighth grade. He was formerly a student in the Wilderness Program at the John de la Howe School in McCormick in 1997. He graduated to the main campus. He completed the tenth grade at de la Howe with full academic honors with the highest grade point average in the 1998-99 school year. He was voted "Best All Around Boy" on campus by the staff. He became an on-campus counselor to his fellow students. He then completed his education through local home schooling. He was also formerly employed as a preparation cook for Plum's Restaurant.

SURVIVORS: his mother, Patricia Hollis Wallace of Beaufort; his father, Henry W. Wallace of Ruffin; a half-brother, Clay Wallace of Beaufort; a half sister, Christie Trezevant of Beaufort; his paternal grandmother, Juanita C. Wallace of Round O and his maternal grandfather, Thomas W. Hollis, Jr., of Winnsboro.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 11 a.m. Monday in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. -- Esther V. Alonso, 81, died April 4.

She was born in Cuba and moved to Melbourne in 1980 from Bethesda, Md. She was a retired teacher and Realtor. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Melbourne.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Dr. Marcelo Alonso of Melbourne Beach; daughters, Esther Capotosta of Pennington, N.J., Cristina D'Erasmo of Silver Spring, Md., Marta Street of Savannah and Teresa Thompson of Danville, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL MASS: 10 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Hattie Jones Anderson, 64, formerly of Crocketville, S.C., died March 30.

She was born in Hampton County, S.C.

SURVIVORS: her husband, Robert Anderson of West Palm Beach; a daughter, Jacqueline Manning of Kansas, Mo.; three sisters, Emma Wright of Varnville, S.C., Mary Montgomery of Columbia, S.C., and Evelyn Jones of Columbia; five brothers, Arthur Jones of Daytona Beach, Leander Jones Jr. and Frankie L. Jones, both of Crocketville, Marvin Jones of Columbia and Henry Jones of Cummings, S.C.; and three grandchildren.

FUNERAL: 10 a.m. Saturday at Roanoke Missionary Baptist Church, West Palm Beach.
