Addie Mae S. Ward

Mrs. Addie Mae Smith Ward, 92, died March 1 at Chatham Nursing Home.

She was born in Telfair County and lived in Savannah since 1942. She was a retired seamstress having worked for The Formal Shop. She was a member of Southside Church of God, the Southside Church of God Ladies Auxiliary, Trailblazer's Lunch and Prayer Group and Senior Sunday School Class.

SURVIVORS: a daughter, Ernestine W. Johnson of Savannah; four sons, Paul H. Ward of Midway, J. Virgil Ward and Frank O. Ward, both of Savannah and Ray W. Ward of Guyton; a stepbrother, V.E. Dubose of Savannah; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Friday at Southside Church of God, burial at 4 p.m. in Lone Hill Methodist Church cemetery in West Green.

Mary Alice C. Watkins

PEMBROKE -- Mary Alice Cribbs Watkins, 83, died Feb. 29 at home under the care of Hospice Savannah.

She was a native of Emanuel County and lived in Bryan County for most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Christian Renewal Assembly of God in Pembroke.

SURVIVORS: a son and daughter-in-law, David Cribbs and Wye Tony Cribbs of Riverdale; daughters and sons-in-law, Genelle and Ray Powell of Ellabell, Bernice and Mark Ozburn of Athens, and Catherine and Pete James of Buckeye Lake, Ohio; a brother, Samuel M. Stephens of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Gertrude Stephens Lloyd of Flomaton, Ala.; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

SERVICES: 1 p.m. today at Christian Renewal Assembly of God Church, burial in Lower Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Beatrice Williams-Anthony

Mrs. Beatrice "Sister" Williams-Anthony, 72, died Feb. 29 at home.

She was born in Savannah and attended the Chatham County public schools. She was a member of First Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and attended One-Hour Watch Bible Study Class. She was the widow of James Anthony Sr.

SURVIVORS: four sons, Dr. James Anthony Jr. of Douglas, Lester Anthony and Battiste Anthony, both of Savannah and Leroy Anthony of Atlanta; six daughters, Yvonne A. Smalls, Margie A. Colson, Catherine A. Moore, Louise Anthony and Eleanor Anthony, all of Savannah and Jeanette A. Harper of Atlanta; a brother, David Williams of Savannah; 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

VISITATION: Friday noon-5 p.m. at First Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and 7-9 p.m. at Temple of Glory Community Church.

FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Saturday at Temple of Glory Community Church, burial in Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Wallace R. Beasley Sr.

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- Wallace R. Beasley Sr., 77, died Jan. 4 at his home.

He was a native of Fleming and resided in Savannah for most of his life before relocating to Fernandina Beach 15 years ago. He retired in 1971 from the U.S. Civil Service at the Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah. He then owned and operated Beasley Painting Contractors until retiring again in 1996. He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the 118th Field Artillery and the Georgia National Guard. He was a Master Mason in Acacia Lodge #452 in Savannah and American Legion Post #54 in Fernandina Beach. He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: two sons, Wallace Robert Beasley Jr. of Fernandina Beach and James R. Beasley of Savannah; a sister, Lorraine (Ralph) Slater; four grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home in Fernandina Beach.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday at the Springhill Baptist Church, burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Savannah.

Isabelle M. Becker

VIDALIA -- Mrs. Isabelle M. Becker, 88, died Jan. 3 at the Bethany Home Nursing Center.

She was a native of Dade County, Fla., and lived all of her life there, moving to Vidalia in 1995. She retired from Florida Power and Light after 20 years. She was a former member of Florida City United Methodist Church, and a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Vidalia.

SURVIVORS: a daughter and son-in-law, Norma B. and Jack Caves of Vidalia; a son and a daughter-in-law, Dr. C.R. and Camille Becker of Homewood, Ala.; a sister, Ingeborg Becker of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two brothers, Rudolph Mattson of Fort Pierce and Richard Mattson of Macon; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

SERVICE: 11 a.m. today at Murchison Funeral Home in Vidalia, burial in Palms Woodlawn Park in Naranja, Fla.

Thomas W. Burrows Sr.

HARDEEVILLE -- Thomas William Burrows Sr., 78, died Jan. 4 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

He was born in Kingstree. He was founder of T.W. Burroughs Realty and had been in real estate for the past 50 years in the Lowcountry. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bluffton, where he had served as deacon and a former member of Bluffton Mens Club.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Rea Courtney Burrows of Hardeeville; a son, Stephen C. Burrows of Bluffton; grandchildren, Tommy Burrows III, Stephen Burrows Jr., and William K. and Jack Burrows, all of Bluffton, Ronald Bergen of Hinesville and Brenda Michaels of Bluffton; and five great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Sauls Funeral Home in Ridgeland.

FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Bluffton, burial in Bluffton cemetery in Bluffton.

Patsy V. Colbert

Patsy V. "Williams" Colbert, 80, of Fairlawn, Ohio, died in Atlanta while moving to Hinesville Dec. 30.

She was born in Raleigh, N.C., and graduated from Hugh Morson High School in Raleigh. She and her family moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., and then she took a secretarial post in Baltimore for several years.

During World War II, she joined the "Bombadears, " a volunteer organization formed to support the Army Air Corps. She was the widow of Robert T. Colbert. She earned the responsibilities of a SAC (Stratcgic Air Command) wife in Savannah. She had spent many years in Ohio, after her husband's retirement.

SURVIVORS: sons, Robert W. Colbert of Hinesville, Jeffrey Colbert of Kent, Ohio and Gregory Colbert of Winchester, Mass.; a sister, Virginia Watts of Silver Lake, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel in charge.

Inurnment will take place in the Memory Garden of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Hinesville at a date to be announced.

Johnnie C. Dais

Johnnie Cleveland Dais, 86, died Jan. 3 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.

He was born on St. Helena Island, S.C. He worked as a messenger for the Corps of Engineers. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: daughters, Lynette Dais Malone of and Michele Dais Tucker, both of Atlanta, and Stacey Shellman of Richmond Hill; a sister, Thelma Nelson of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Leroy W. Simmons Sr. of Savannah; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

SERVICES: noon Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, burial in the Catholic Cemetery.

D'Loryne Daniel

MILLEDGEVILLE -- D'Loryne Daniel, 76, died Jan. 4 at Craig Nursing Home in Milledgeville.

She was born in Bellville. She was a retired teacher and was a member of The Bellville Methodist Church.

SURVIVORS: a sister, Nell Daniel of Dublin; five nieces and nephews, Lee Beasley of Atlanta, Gloria Fulghum of Summertown, George Beasley of Dublin, Mary Taylor of Gainsville, Christine Hyde of Richmond, Va.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 2 p.m. today at The Bellville Methodist Church, burial in Brewton Cemetery.

Rex A. Edmonds

STATESBORO -- Rex A. Edmonds, 55, died Jan. 4.

He was born in High Point, N.C., and lived in Augusta most of his life, before moving to Statesboro in 1981. He was the owner of Wood Product Imports in Metter.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Donna Kay Edmonds of Statesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Angel and Drew Williams of Nevils; two sons, Bryan Rushing of Statesboro and Paul Edmonds of Augusta; his mother, Rena Edmonds of Augusta; a sister, Betty Redd of Augusta; two grandchildren, Bryce Annette and Toby Lane Williams of Statesboro; and several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL: 2 p.m. today at Jake A. Futch Funeral Home, Statesboro, burial in Brannen family cemetery.

Walter M. Flowers

PHILADELPHIA -- Walter Morris Flowers, 83, died Dec. 28 at the home of his daughter Mirian Hayes.

He was a native of Burton, S.C. He was educated at the Old Shanklin School in Burton and moved to Delaware, where he worked as a pipefitter supervisor. He was also well known in the boxing arena as a professional lightweight boxer.

SURVIVORS: two daughters, Mirian Hayes of Philadelphia and Frances Williams of Sicklerville; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and cousins including, Elizabeth Gadsden of Lady's Island and the Rev. Reuben Green of Burton.

MEMORIAL SERVICES: 11 a.m. today at Marshel's Wright-Donaldson Home For Funerals, burial in Rhett Cemetery.
