HAMPTON, S.C. -- Miss Annie Mae Chassereau, 87, died Sept. 16 at Allendale County Hospital.
The native of Hampton County retired from Westinghouse Corp. in Hampton as a press operator. She attended the Christian Church.
SURVIVORS: a sister, Nina C. Platts of Hampton; a niece, Virginia Mick of Hampton; a nephew, Tuggie Platts of Hampton; and a great-niece, Jessica Platts of Bamberg.

Robert G. Dickey
WAYNESBORO -- Robert G. Dickey, 42, died Sept. 16 at Burke Medical Center.
The native of Jenkins County was a longtime resident of Waynesboro and a former employee of Samsons Mfg.. He was a member of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church and attended the Holiness Church.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Judy L. Dickey of Waynesboro; a son, Jessy Griner of Metter; three daughters, Karen Rebecca Hooks of Metter, Stacy Oglesby of Sylvania and Amy Freland of Statesboro; and eight grandchildren.

Shirley M. Glover
YEMASSEE, S.C. -- Shirley M. Glover, 60, died Sept. 14 at the home of her daughter in St. Marys, Ga.
The Charleston native lived in Yemassee most of her life. She attended Hampton County schools and graduated from the former North District Training School in Varnville. She studied with the Advance Schooling for Floral Design in Columbia.
She was employed as a floral designer with Nix Florist Inc. in Hampton, Margaret's Florist in Walterboro, Rudene's Florist in Yemassee and most recently with Silk-n-Web in Yemassee. She was a member of Pilgrimford Missionary Baptist Church in Yemassee and served as a missionary.
SURVIVORS: two sons, Army Maj. Nathaniel R. Glover of Hinesville and James Glover of Charleston; two daughters, Virginia Glover of Yemassee and Shelia Ethridge of St. Marys; an adopted daughter, Adrian K. Hamilton of Charlotte; her stepmother, Willa Mae Major of Charleston; a sister, Ivey Lee Brown of Atlanta; a brother, Clarence Ellis of Philadelphia; a stepbrother, Henry Primus of New York City; nine grandchildren, a great-grandchild and other relatives.

William O. Grice
METTER -- William Ottis Grice, 90, died Sept. 17 at Candler County Hospital.
The Evans County native moved to Candler County in 1952. He was a retired farmer and a coporal in the Army Air Force in World War II. He was a member of the VFW, served on the board of directors for the Farm Bureau and was a deacon of Excelsior Baptist Church since 1957. He was a Sunday school teacher of the Adult Class for 40 years and was the widower of Frances Wilson Grice.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Christine Dowd Grice of Metter; two sons, Larry Grice of Portal and Paul Dowd of Statesboro; five daughters, Willene Brown, Pat Dekle and Clara Monroe, all of Metter, Ernestine Parsons of Clermont, Fla., and Terri Bell of Twin City; a brother, Herschel Grice of Claxton; a sister, Lillie Blocker of Brunswick; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Robert D. Henderson
LUDOWICI -- Robert D. Henderson, 61, died Sept. 16 at home in Long County.
The native of Carthage, Ill., lived in Liberty and Long counties the past 28 years. He retired from Hinesville Fire Department after 17 years. He was a member of the VFW and the Coastal YMCA and retired after 20 years as sergeant first class in the Army.
SURVIVORS a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Jason Roark of Columbia; a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Tina Henderson of Hinesville; a brother and sister-in-law, Terry Lane and Bert Henderson of Galesburg, Ill.; a half brother and sister-in-law, Don and Joy Ballard of Florida; two sisters, Patricia Cochran and Tracey Ulrich, both of Nantuckett, Conn.; and three grandchildren.

Parris M. Hillmon
Parris M. "Skip" Hillmon, 46, died Sept. 12 at home.
The Wayne County nativespend most of his life in Wayne County. He was a retiree of the Army and sent the last several years in Savannah.
SURVIVORS: a daughter, Melaine Hillmon of Austin, Texas; a son, Michael Hillmon of Killeen, Texas; three sisters, Rhonda Wright, Fredelyn Attical, both of Screven, and Kay Hillmon of Atlanta; four brothers, Larry Bentley of Waycross, Bernard Hillmon of Colorado Springs, Colo., Richard Hillmon of Westminister, Colo., and Freddie Hillmon of Screven; three grandchildren ad a host of other relatives.

Jessie E. Hilton
Jessie Edward Hilton, 78, died Sept. 16 at a Charleston hospital.
The Dorchester, S.C., native attended Dorchester schools and Draughon's Business School in Savannah. He was an Navy veteran and had worked in the pulp paper industry where he retired as superintendent for Continental Can.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Mary Bunch Hilton of Bonneau; a brother, Haskell Hilton of St. George; a sister, Molly Van Woodberry of Grover; a granddaughter, Shannon D. Knor of Chicago; two great-grandsons, a great-granddaughter and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Vernon Kersey
REIDSVILLE -- Vernon Kersey, 67, died Sept. 16 at home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
The native of Toombs County lived in Reidsvlle since 1982 before moving to Long County a year ago. He was a Baptist and a former security guard for Sea Pines Plantation on Hilton Head Island.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Irene Kersey of Ludowici; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Kathy Kersey of Ludowici and Danny and Vickie Kersey of Glennville; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

LaForrest G. Lucas
WAYCROSS -- Mrs. LaForrest Griner Lucas, 85, died Sept. 18 at Satilla Regional Medical Center.
The native of Patterson lived many years in Glynn and Pierce counties. She was a resident of Baptist Village at the time of her death and was the widow of Guy Lucas.
In Glynn County, she was an active member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church. After retiring from the Brunswick Water Department, she returned to Patterson and Patterson Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of Patterson Garden Club and a prolific writer of poetry.
SURVIVORS: a sister, Elouise G. Hyers of Baptist Village; a nephew and guardians, Edward and Diane Hyers of Patterson; and several other nephews, several nieces, many great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives.

N.H. Lynch
SWAINSBORO -- N.H. Lynch died Sept. 12 at Emanuel Medical Center.
He was born and educated in Candler County. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Swainsboro.
SURVIVORS: three daughters, Ann Meekins and Sylvia Holmes, both of Swainsboro, and Martha Peebles of Brunswick; four sons, Melvin Jackson, Lamar Franklin and Jocephus Franklin, all of Swainsboro, and Harry Franklin of Atlanta; his mother, Lean Smith of Swainsboro; two sisters, Marie Bell and Barbara Green, both of Swainsboro; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
SERVICE: 2:30 p.m. today at Trinity Baptist Church, burial in Swainsboro City Cemetery.

Melvin Martin
JESUP -- Melvin "Mel" Martin, 60, died Sept. 15 at home of an apparent heart attack.
The Byers, Texas, native lived in Wayne County the past two months and was an independent trucker.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Rose Holland Martin of Jesup; a daughter, Gina Brown of San Diego; a son, Shayne Martin of Corona, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Donna Padilla of Devol, Okla., Debbie Robinson of Waurika, Calif., and Dewanna Harding of Byers; four sisters, Janice Davis of Grandbury, Texas, Sue Ricketts of Old Fort, N.C., Peggy Hertel of Midland, Texas, and Julia Anderson of Haskell, Texas; three brothers, Ernest Martin of Grandbury, Milton Martin of Electra, Texas, and George Martin of Keller, Texas; three grandsons, and eight stepgrandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
