NORTON - Nettie A. Ryals Norton, 87, of St. Marys died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001 at Camden Medical Center in St. Marys.
She was a native and lifelong resident of St. Marys and had been a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Marys and the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Davis Norton. Survivors include a daughter, Ruby Green of St. Marys; five sons and daughters - in - law; Roy and Iris Norton of St. Marys, Albert "Gene" and Janis Norton of Panama City, Fla., and Anthony L. and Yvette Norton of Jacksonville, Fla., and Joseph and Pat Norton of St. George; one sister and brother - in - law, Leona and Burney Green of Fernandina, Fla.; one brother, Petty Ryals of Fernandina, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
A visitation was held Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001 at Edo Miller - Dekle Wainwright Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2001 with the Rev. Steve Kegley and the Rev. Hilton Gillespie officiating.
Active pallbearers for the service will be Todd Norton, Anthony Norton, Jeff Harrison, Robert Lee, Rick Raulerson and Craig Kehoe. Honorary pallbearers will be the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove cemetery in St. Marys.

SHELTON - JACKSON - Coi Lizmaysung Shelton - Jackson, almost 3 years old, of St. Marys died on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001.
Shelton - Jackson, affectionately known as "Miss Coi, " was considered a special little girl who touched people with her enduring and happy spirit. It was said that she inspired many with an innocent wisdom that did not come from time or experience but from a closeness with God.
Survivors include her parents, Michael and Nancy Jackson; her brothers, Louis, Garrison and her twin, Caiza; grandparents, Louis and Sung Chi Shelton of Rochester, N.Y. and the late Elizabeth Jackson of Miami, Fla.; aunts, Maysha Shelton of Rochester, N.Y., Kathy Harris of Miami, Fla. and Pam Jackson of Fayetteville, N.C.; uncle, Ronald Jackson of Fayetteville, N.C.; godmother, Betsey Larcom of St. Marys; and a host of relatives and friends.
Friends will be received on Saturday, Dec. 8 at he family's home, located at 1107 Sussex St. in St. Marys (Kingsbrook Subdivision across from Mary Lee Clark Elementary School) from the hours of 2 to 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that guests bring an unwrapped toy so that it may be donated in the deceased's name to the Camden County Court Appointed Special Advocate program.

SUAREZ - Angel Jesus Suarez, 65, died on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001 at the Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.
He was born to Miguel Angel Suarez and Coral Coca Suarez on July 31, 1936 in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
Suarez moved to the United States in 1959. In 1973 he began his own business, Luquillo Screens.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Rosario Suarez of Kingsland; one son, Angel M. Suarez of Cumming; one daughter, Lillian Vesely of Kingsland; and six grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Edo Miller - Dekle - Wainwright Funeral Home of Kingsland.

McCARLEY - Donald Harrison McCarley, 73, of St. Marys died on Friday, Nov. 30, 2001 at the St. Marys Convalescent Center of an extended illness of Huntington's Disease.
McCarley was a native of Oklahoma. He had resided in Camden County for the past six years.
McCarley was retired from Kerr - McGee Chemical Plant of Trona, Calif. as an instrument technician with 33 years of service.
He was a self taught electronic technician who enjoyed flying. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include his wife, Vida Joyce McCarley of St. Marys; a daughter, Teresa Ann Bagley of St. Marys; three sons, John P. McCarley of Aztec, N.M., Donald J. McCarley of St. Cloud, Minn. and Larry D. McCarley of Ridgecrest, Calif.; one sister, Olene Nisbett of Las Vegas, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; nine great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America, Georgia Chapter, P.O. Box 15298, Atlanta, Ga. 30333.
Allison Memorial Chapel of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.

BRACK - Arthur Benjamin Brack, 50, of Waverly died on Friday, Nov. 30, 2001 in the Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center in Brunswick.
Brack was a native of Savannah. He had been a resident of Waverly for the past 20 years. Brack was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended the Waverly United Methodist Church.
Brack was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation as an engineering technician.
Survivors include his son, Edwin "Allen" Brack of Waverly; a daughter, Carrie Brack of Waverly; four brothers, Don Brack of Griffin, Joe Brack of Mcclenney, Fla., Craig Brack of Waverly and Terry Brack of Brunswick; three sisters, Martha Brack of Tallahassee, Fla., Karen Brack of Atlanta and Nancy Brack Franklin of Oak Harbor, Wash.; his former wife, Lauren Corbitt of Waverly; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 3 from the Waverly United Methodist Church, with pastors Bob Vickery and Elliott Foss officiating. Interment followed in Homeward cemetery in Waverly.
Active pallbearers were Mark Brack, Jay Brack, Rex Stalvey, Greg Sumner, Walter Helms, Lee Greene and Randy Copeland.
Honorary pallbearers were men of the Waverly United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Waverly United Methodist Church.
Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home of Brunswick was in charge of arrangements.

CREWS - Cauley Crews, 78, of Kingsland died on Monday, April 8, 2002 at Brian Center Inn on St. Simons Island.
Crews was a native of Brantley County. He had resided in Camden County for the past 50 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Sallie O'Donnell Crews of Kingsland; three sons, Perry (Anne) Crews of St. Marys, Roy (Bonnie) Crews of White Oak and Charles (Shirley) Mathiez of Anniston, Ala.; two daughters, Shirley (Robert) Marr and Sandy (Tony) Chambliss, both of St. Marys; Two brothers, Julian Crews of St. Marys and J.L. Crews of Atkinson; one sister, Murialdean Miller of Callahan, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 13 great - grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 10 at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, with Pastor Andrew Gillis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Ga. 31525.
Allison Memorial Chapel of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.

THOMAS - Katie Sawyer Thomas, 90, of St. Marys died on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at her residence.
After living in Virginia Beach, Va., she had resided in Camden County for the past nine years.
She was a former member of the Kempsville Baptist Church at Virginia Beach.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca (Charles) Eberhardt of St. Marys; two grandchildren, Charles Howard Eberhardt and James Douglas Eberhardt; and one great - grandchild, Owen Thomas Eberhardt.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 6 in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, with Dr. Kelly J. Burris officiating.
Allison Memorial Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.

JOHNSON - Lottie Walker Johnson, 83, of Trenton, N.J. died on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Johnson was born to Boysie Walker and Obenia Kennedy Walker on Oct. 15, 1918 in Camden County. She attended the public schools of Camden County; to advance her education she moved to Princeton, N.J.
She was employed by Skillman Hospital until her retirement. She attended church at Oak Hill United Methodist Church from youth to adulthood.
Survivors include her brothers, Floyd (Eugene) Walker and Leonard Walker of Riverside, Calif. and Louis (Sarah) Walker of Camden County; sisters, Luvessie Huey, Peggie Reed and Obenia Kight, all of Camden County, Ruth (Robert) Daniels of Cincinnati, Ohio and Sarah (Clarence) Fountain of Washington, D.C.
A wake was held from 7 to 8 p.m. inside the memorial chapel at Myers Funeral Home on Saturday, April 6.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 7 at 3 p.m. at the Oak Hill United Methodist Church in the Tarboro community of White Oak, with Rev. Marcell Myers officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Luther Walker, Jim Reed, Leonard Lawrence, Barry Reed, Laverne Waker and Robert Walker.
Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Benjamin, Edward Woodard, Douglas Kight, Phillip Mack, Sip Thomas and King Rhodes.
Myers Funeral Home of Woodbine was in charge of arrangements.

STRICKLAND - Otis E. Strickland, 87, died on Sunday, April 7, 2002 at the Baptist Village in Waycross, after an extended illness.
Strickland was born in Manor, the son of the late Samuel Arthur Strickland and Maggie Henderson Strickland and the widower of the late Frances Emily Wright Strickland.
He had lived in Camden County for 55 years, where he and his late wife operated the Strickland Grocery and Variety Store in Woodbine for 32 years.
He was a member of the Woodbine United Methodist Church, and a veteran of World War II, where he served with the U.S. Army.
Strickland was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin Strickland, Sam Strickland Jr. and Hoover Strickland; and one sister, Vernelle Cribb.
Survivors include a son, Stan Strickland and his wife Tonya of Savannah; a daughter, Jean Sedwick and her husband Hal of Kingsland; three brothers, Henry and Zeke Strickland of Waycross and Bill Strickland of Homerville; four sisters, Gertie Hewitt, Mary Lou Inman, Aileen Collins and Blanche Taylor, all of Waycross; five grandchildren, Pamela Scarbrough of Groton, Conn., Angela Gore of Goose Creek, S.C. and Jennifer, Tim and Rhett Strickland, all of Savannah; two great - grandchildren, Miranda Gore and Joelle Strickland; a devoted friend, Lucille Roach of Waycross; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family received friends at the Miles - Odum Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 10 at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Homeward cemetery near Waverly.
Miles - Odum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

BAKER - Joseph Solomon Baker, 79, of Yulee, Fla., died on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Baptist Medical Center - Nassau in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
Baker was born April 7, 1923, in Gross, Fla., to the late Steve and Maggie Baker.
He grew up in the Gross community and attended the public schools of Nassau County. After serving a tour of duty in the United States Army, he was later employed at Container Corp. where he retired after many years.
On Sept. 18, 1951, he was united in marriage to Luverta Johnson Baker.
Survivors include his wife, Luverta Baker of Yulee; brothers, David A. Baker of Jacksonville, Fla. and John (Vera) Baker of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; sister, Sadell (Major) Mitchell of Kingsland; sisters - in - law, Alice Baker of Jacksonville and Jerriel L. Drummond of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a devoted sister - in - law, Marie Baker of Yulee; brother - in - law, Elliott Richo Sr. of Fernandina Beach; a devoted brother - in - law, Ammie Lee (Yvonne) Johnson of Kingsland; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends; and four goddaughters, Delphene Joseph and Gina J. Hall, both of Kingsland, and Adrian Johnson and Brea Blue, both of Fernandina Beach.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 in the chapel of Sunset Funeral Home in Kingsland.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10 at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach, with Rev. Darien K. Bolden officiating. Interment was at Bosque Bello cemetery in Fernandina Beach.
Active pallbearers were the deceased's nephews.
Sunset Funeral Home of Kingsland was in charge of arrangements.
