Travis M. Lee, 31

Travis M. Lee, 31, died Saturday, September 20, 2008, in a motorcycle accident in California. Travis was a 1995 graduate of Metter High School and served in the United States Navy for 10 years. Travis was a Navy Seal and served on the U.S.S. John C. Stennis and the U.S.S. Cowpens in the Middle East. He was stationed in several ports including Norfolk, VA, Japan and San Diego, California. At the time of his death, Travis was an Emergency Medical Technician and his hobby was building model ships.
He is survived by his wife and daughter, Lynn and Gretchen Lee and a loving extended family all of Sacramento, CA ; his parents, Hoke and Deanna Lee; sisters and brothers - in - law, Tammy and Danny Durden, Tracy and Timmy Holloway; nephews, Smith Holloway, Seth Holloway and Zac Durden; a niece, Judsi Durden, all of Metter; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 5, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, in Metter.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 26, 2008, at Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home in Sacramento, CA. Burial with Military Honors was at Valley National cemetery in San Diego, CA.

Shirley Williams Sikes, 65

Shirley Williams Sikes, 65, of Cobbtown and Hagan, passed away Wednesday morning, September 24, 2008, at 4:15 a.m. at the Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro. She was born in Candler County and graduated from Collins High School in 1961. She was a former insurance agent, owner and business manager of several local businesses. Her latter years were spent enjoying interior decorating and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Williams.
She is survived by her husband, Rayford “Bully” Sikes of Cobbtown and Hagan; her mother, Sydney Green Williams of Cobbtown; four daughters and sons - in - law, Michelle S. and Richard J. Bowen of Perry, Darla K. and Michael L. Burkett of Portal, Angela A. and Russell D. Belding of Glennville, Kimberly C. and Kevin Johnson of Powder Springs; and one son, Casey G. Smith of Cobbtown; two brothers, William Grady Williams and Herman Alton “Al” Williams both of Cobbtown; 12 grandchildren, Stephanie Duckworth, Bryan Duckworth, Kameron Burkett, Ashlyn Belding, Kyler Johnson, Kamille Burkett, Kaitlyn Johnson, Haden Belding, Hunter Morris, Alissa Smith, Evan Belding and Keaton Johnson; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Pastor Jim Sutton officiating. Burial was in the Sunlight Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Allen Thigpen, Joe Waters, Tom Young, Randy McRae, Lemuel Waters and Steven Newsome.
Remembrances may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, POB 531, Statesboro, GA 30459 or the Special Olympics, P.O. Box 501177, Atlanta, GA 31150 - 1177 in honor of her brother, Grady Williams and niece, Heather Williams.

Marcus “M.F.” Brazell, 90

Mr. Marcus “M.F.” Brazell, age 90, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 25, 2009, at the Meadows Nursing Center in Vidalia. The Tattnall County native had lived in Evans and Tattnall Counties all of his life. He was a member of the silent generation of World War II veterans of Pattons Third Army Corp who landed in Utah Beach and fought throughout Europe and was in Luxenburg when the war ended. He farmed many years in Evans County and retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the VFW Post 7764 and the Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Claxton. He was preceded in death by his wife Euretta Brazell.
He is survived by his daughter and son - in - law, Janice and Rabun Phillips of Reidsville; sons and daughters - in - law, Marcus J. Brazell and fiance’ Kim Wyatt of Vidalia and Wayne and Denise Brazell of San Antonio, TX; sister, Jacqueline Lumpkin of Reidsville; brother, E.O. Brazel of Reidsville; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers were Eddie Brazel, Bobby Strickland, Kevin Brazell, Gary Callaway, Sam Lott, and Ronald Moss.
Funeral services were conducted 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2009, from the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Reidsville City cemetery with military honors.
Memorials may be made to: Trinity Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 521, Claxton, GA 30417. Guido Evangelistic Association, P.O. Box 508, Metter, GA 30439, or charity of donors choice.

Lutrell Ward Durrence, 72

Lutrell Ward Durrence, 72, passed away, Sunday, January 25, 2009, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Telfair County native had lived in Glennville for the past 49 years. She was a retired schoolteacher, having taught in Tattnall and Long County Schools for over 20 years. She served as principal of Glennville Christian Academy and was a member of Glennville Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Mabel Ward and niece, Donna Haymons.
She is survived by her husband of 49 1/2 years, Eugene Durrence of Glennville; children, Pamela Durrence and Kyle and Leisha Durrence, all of Glennville; sister and brother - in - law, Willene and Fred Haymons of McRae, GA; grandchildren, Tiffany Taylor, Jessica, Kaleb and Alex Durrence; niece and nephews, Kathi, Lee and Lew Durrence, Bob and Rob Haymons and several other relatives.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at 11 a.m., at the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Julian Ward and Reverend Oscar Rowe, Jr., officiating. Burial followed in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rob Haymons, Lew Durrence, Bob Haymons, Ron Taylor, Lee Durrence and Kaleb Durrence.
Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home of Glennville was in charge of the arrangements.

Yovani Maya Garcia, infant

Yovani Maya Garcia infant child of Isabel Garcia and Fidel Maya - Rios of Reidsville passed away January 21, 2008 at Memorial Health Medical University. The other survivors include a brother Eduardo Maya Rios of Reidsville.
Funeral Services will be conducted at a later date in Mexico.

Marion Jordan Hinson, 65

Marion Jordan Hinson, 65, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2008.
She was born April 30, 1943, in Reidsville, Georgia, she was a loving daughter to Mr. Thomas Clarence Jordan and Mrs. Alma Simms Jordan. She was a graduate of Reidsville High School, captain of the cheerleaders, and an alumni of Georgia Southern University. She was a wonderful mother to two loving sons, Sean Micheal Hinson and Patrick Shannon Hinson, who now miss her dearly and always will. She was a 30 - year loyal and hard - working employee of the Medical University of South Carolina and retired in 2005.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the Reidsville City cemetery with Rev. Marc Foster officiating.

Leilani Hodges, 58

Leilani Hodges, 58, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009, at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. The Daytona, Florida, native had lived in Florida most of her life. She was employed in the health care industry as a caretaker for the elderly.
Survivors include children, Serenia and Mark Hendrix of Glennville, Shannon Powell of Gainesville, FL and Tina and Bill Sallette of Claxton; sisters, Melody Whitesides of SC and Sherry Price of Atlanta; brothers, Mickey Johns of SC and Danny Johns of Glennville; grandchildren, December, April, Madlyn and Matthew Sallette, Jacob and Melissa Powell; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2009, from the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Kenny Edwards officiating followed by a private burial.

Victor Pabon, 68

Victor Pabon, 68, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 24, 2009, at his residence in Claxton. The Puerto Rico native had lived in Claxton for the past seven years. He was a US Army Veteran and was a retired security officer from GM Motors. He attended the Primera Iglesia Bautista Agape in Claxton.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Maria Juarez of Claxton; two daughters, Luz C. Torres of Glennville and Marisol Pabon of Puerto Rico; son, Victor M. Torres, Jr. of Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren, Cesar Torres, III, Yamil O. Torres, Alex M. Torres, Aleysha L. Torres, Henry Rodriguez and Noelia Rodriguez; four great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services were conducted Tuesday, January 27, at 11:00 a.m., from the Primera Iglesia Bautista Agape. Interment followed in the Reidsville City Cemetery.

Derrell Weitman, 68

Derrell Weitman, 68, died at his residence on Monday, January 26, 2009, under the care of his family and Georgia Home Health Care Hospice. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area all his life. He was retired from Rayonier Corporation after 26 years of service, and was a farmer. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Bessie Weitman; and a sister, Mary Ann Mobley.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Weitman of Glennville; sons, Mark Weitman and Kevin Weitman, both of Glennville; brother, Lester Weitman, Jr., and Carolyn of Auburndale, Florida; sisters, Eloise Weitman, Diane and Mike Folsom, and Cheryl and Robbie Durrence, all of Glennville; grandchildren, Katey and Kristen Anderson, Kara Weitman, Shanea Weitman, and Carsyn Weitman; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 29, at Watermelon Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Ray, James Weitman, David Todd, Dennis Stanfield, Wayne Mobley, and Ricky Wilson.

Sister Rosetta Brewton Woodruff, 45

Sister Rosetta Brewton Woodruff was a devoted wife and mother, who always put the interest of her family first. She saw to it that her family, child, and love ones were given the best she could provide, in loving care and spiritual nourishment. She was born to the parents of Mr. Felton Brewton, Sr., and the late Mary Ann Brewton on February 28, 1963. She was a 1981 graduate of Claxton High School. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Kenneth Woodruff on March 23, 1984 in Claxton, GA. To this union, one son was born, Christopher Woodruff.
She joined the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Daisy, GA, at an early age under the leadership of Rev. C. L. Anderson, where she served as a faithful member. She was the President of the Missions Auxiliary. She also sang in the choir.
Later, she joined Bethel A. M. E. Church, Surrency, GA, under the leadership of Rev. Vivian B. Woodruff where she served until she was called home to be with the Lord. In her spiritual growth and walk with the Lord, she attended Bible study faithfully. She will be remembered the most for her untiring service with the Women’s Missionary Society, where she served as secretary. She worked on the Finance Committee. She was also a choir member.
She was an active supporter of Living Word Christian Center Church in Lyons, GA, under the leadership of Bishop Caverous J. Boggs where she served on the Women’s Auxiliary, attended Bible study faithfully and sang in the choir.
On January 22, 2009, God reached out His hand and called her home. She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband, Kenneth Woodruff and a son, Christopher Woodruff; a loving father Felton Brewton, Sr. of Claxton, GA; a father and mother - in - law: Thomas and Rev. Vivian B. Woodruff; four sisters: Paulette (Rev. Donnell) Benjamin, Debra (Stanley) Mincey, Bernette Brewton, all of Claxton, GA, and Tamika Brewton of Washington, D.C.; four brothers, Earl (Gwen) Brown, Warnell (Lucille) Brewton, Felton Jr. (Trina) Brewton, all of Claxton, GA, and Donnell (Shirley) Brewton, of North Augusta, S.C.; two sisters - in - law: Rev. Sharlene Woodruff Hendley and LaWanda Stewart - Burrison.
She also leaves to mourn, four Godchildren; ten aunts, Gertie Mae Appleby of Salisbury, Maryland, Bertha Gross of Boston, MA, Ella Mae McCloud of Pembroke, GA, Loretta Brewton, Clara Brewton, Catherine Brown, Rosetta Burgess, Willie Jane McCray, Edna Mae (Jimmy) McKever all of Daisy, GA, and Louise (Richard) Penn of Savannah, GA; three uncles: Paul Brown of Salisbury, Maryland and Johnny (Mary Alice) Brown of Daisy, GA, and Roosevelt (Lillie West) Brewton of Claxton, GA; one great - aunt, Pauline Walker of Statesboro, GA; one great - uncle, Manzie Lee of Tampa, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and sorrowing friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at St. James AME in Glennville, Georgia, with burial in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery in Claxton, GA.
King and Son’s Funeral Home of Glennville, GA, was in charge of arrangements.
