Bobby Smiley, 62

Bobby Smiley, 62, entered into rest, Saturday, January 19, 2008, at his daughter’s home in Stanfield, NC. He was born in Tattnall County, GA on May 24, 1945, to the late James Willie Smiley and Beulah Beatrice DeLoach Smiley. He worked as a Land Management Supervisor, and was a member of Botsford Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Onnie Anderson Smiley, of Waynesboro, GA; son, Joey James Smiley, of Aiken, SC; two daughters, Julie Smiley Barron, of Stanfield, NC, and Donna Smiley Fountain, of Middleburg, FL; two brothers, Glenn Smiley, of Savannah, and Billy Smiley, of Glennville, GA; sister, Joyce Ann Fennel, also of Glennville, GA.; five grandchildren, Zoe Jan Barron, Brandon Lee Smiley, Morgan Fountain, MaeKenzie Fountain, and Madison Fountain.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at Botsford Baptist Church, with Rev. Wayne Dixon and Rev. Mike Holland officiating. Interment followed at the Botsford Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Botsford Baptist Church Building Fund, 825 Botsford Baptist Church Rd., Waynesboro, GA, 30830.

Eloise D. Stubbs, 76

Eloise D. Stubbs, 76, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah. She had lived in Glennville most of her life and was retired from Central Pharmacy after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Glennville Free Will Baptist Church and attended Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Swinton F. Stubbs of Glennville; children, Sherill Brannen, Pam and Gary Gantt and Sandy Stubbs, all of Glennville; sisters and brothers - in - law, Julia and Jim Tootle of Glennville and Carolyn and Rex Parr of Opp, AL; sister - in - law, Marcelle Foresman of Glennville; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 20, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Elder David Summerford and Elder W.H. Durrence officiating. Burial followed in Loves Chapel Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Larry Stubbs, Eddie Grooms, Al Grooms, Derwood Tootle, David Tootle and Jim Callaway.

Dan Collins, Jr., 91

Mr. Dan Collins, Jr., 91, son of the late Mr. Dan Collins and the late Mrs. Maybell Moses, of Collins, was born on January 16, 1916, in Tattnall County, GA. On January 11, 2008, he departed this life at Tattnall Community Hospital. He was employed by Curry Company for over 50 years. In the year of 1941, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Mrs. Mittie Brown Collins. To this union five children were born. One daughter, Brenda Carswell, and two adopted sons, Cecil and Clarence Mosley, preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn, three daughters, Elaine (Winton) Bacon of Claxton, GA, Margaret Lowe of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Donna Ransom of Oxon Hill, MD; one son, Paul (Tonya) Collins, III, of Tattnall County; adopted children, Madelyn Walker and Burke Brown of Jacksonville, FL; ten grandchildren, twenty great - grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Professional services were entrusted to Harper’s Funeral Home.

Irene Weaver Harrelson, 71

Mrs. Irene Weaver Harrelson, 71, passed away early Saturday morning, January 12, 2008, at her residence.
The Laurens County native had lived in Claxton many years moving to Collins five years ago. She was a homemaker and attended Full Gospel Tabernacle in Collins. She was preceded in death by her son, Billy Harrelson, and a daughter, Regina Harrelson.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James Harrelson of Collins; two daughters, Dorothy Harrelson and Tonia Fletcher of Collins; three sons, Danny Weaver of Reidsville, Hugie Harrelson and Emory Bud Harrelson, both of Collins; a sister, Betsy Kelly of Richmond, KY; two brothers, Billy Rae Weaver of Collins and Huie Weaver of Claxton; seventeen grandchildren, numerous great - grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Howard Ward, Kenny DeLoach, Jerry Douglas, Jamie Swat, Ray Collins, and Kenny Gibson.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 14, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Nelms officiating. Interment followed in the Collins Baptist Church Cemetery.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Vance Harris, 47

Mr. Vance Harris, 47, of Ball Ground, GA, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at North Fulton Regional Hospital. He was a contractor in the construction business and of Protestant faith.
Survivors include his loving partner, Agnes Walters, Ball Ground; sons, Jeremiah Harris and Hunter Harris, Ball Ground and Brian Wade, Mansfield, GA; daughters, Danielle Harris, Mansfield, GA, and Hope Harris, Ball Ground; mother, Carolyn Harris, Canton; father and stepmother, R. Don and Patsy Harris, Ellijay; brother, Ricky Harris, Augusta; sister, Lana Shuman, Reidsville.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Gayton officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Harris Family Support Fund, c/o Regions Bank, 2653 Marietta Hwy., Canton, GA 30114.

Ivory D. Parker, 81

Brother Ivory D. Parker, 81, was born on April 8, 1926, in Ludowici, GA, to the late Mr. Willie and Hattie Parker.
Brother Ivory was a faithful worker until his illness would not allow him to work any longer. He was also a faithful member of Zion Temple and if he could help you he did especially when it came to giving you a ride where you needed to go.
Brother Ivory D. Parker departed this life on January 9, 2008. He was preceded in death by his son, Ivory D. Parker, Jr., eight brothers and two sisters.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary Parker of Jesup, GA; seven daughters, Betty Mae Lanier of Jesup, GA, Barbara Woods of Midway, GA, Thresa Parker of Buffalo, NY, Cynthia M. Tyron (L. Johnson) of Waldorsd, MD, Ivory Lee Bentley (Tony) of Texas, Crystal Renee Mason of Lyons, GA, and Darlene Lynette Outler (Michael) of Lyons, GA; one step - daughter, Gertrude James of Glennville, GA; one sister - in - law, Wornie E. Cummings of Glennville, GA; and a host of grandchildren, great - grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at Zion Temple Church of Christ in Glennville, GA, with Elder Robert Cooper presiding and Elder Abel Huston officiating. Pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Parker.
King and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lilly Ruth Parker, 73

Lilly Ruth Parker, 73, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2008, at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center in Statesboro. The Long County native had lived in Glennville for many years and in the Statesboro area for the past several years. She was a homemaker and a member of Ludowici First Baptist Church and a former member of Glennville First Christian Church. She is preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Ethelwynn “Pet” Howard.
She is survived by her children, Wyndy Kicklighter Mitcham of Rogersville, MO, Brian Kicklighter of Pooler, Valerie Kicklighter Ellington of Soperton; sisters, Mary Lou Parker Hodges of Colonial Heights, VA, and Lenore Parker Sharp of Ludowici; brothers, H.G. Smith of Kingston, TN, Jerry E. Parker of Screven and Thomas H. Parker, Jr., of Garden City; grandchildren, Ansley and Andrew Kicklighter and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 17, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Ludowici First Baptist Church with Reverend Eric Rentz, Reverend Price Chapman and Reverend George Grimes officiating. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Jones Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hodges, David Parker, Bryan Parker, Benjamin Smith, Trey Combs and Ron Sharp.
Remembrances can be made to Ludowici First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 489, Ludowici, GA 31316.

Averett Lee Pearson and Ashtin Carter Pearson, infants

Averett Lee Pearson and Ashtin Carter Pearson, infant twin sons of James Ashley Pearson and Kristin Marie Waters, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at Evans Memorial Hospital.
Other survivors include, paternal grandparents, Wesley Dean Pearson of Reidsville and Starlet Griffis of Glennville; maternal grandparents, Ronnie Waters of Reidsville and Kendra Marie Pearce of Glennville; maternal great grandparents, Earl and Ruth Wilkins of Glennville, Ann Martin of Ellabelle and Hazel Bullock of Screven, GA; paternal great grandparents, Bobby and Mary Ann Ray of Glennville; and several great aunts, great uncles and cousins.
Graveside Funeral Services were held Saturday, January 12, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Stoney Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Edward G. Pinder, 85

Edward G. Pinder, 85, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Coastal Manor Nursing Home. The Dade County, Florida, native had lived in Miami, Florida, for many years moving to Glennville several years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Belcher Oil Company in Miami. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Glennville. He is preceded in death by his wife, Trudy Rolls Pinder, and daughter, Barbara Rowe.
He is survived by a sister, Beatrice Tipton of Cocoa, FL; brothers, Rubin Daniel Pinder of Lauderhill, FL, and Samuel Pinder of Lake City, GA; three grandchildren, Tina Rushing, Reggie Rowe, and William Rowe; five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 13, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Pentecostal Church with Reverend James M. Holland and Reverend Randy Watts officiating. Burial followed in Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wilton Foster, Albert Bacon, Terry Nickell, Rick Jones, Glenn Poole and Norman Cohen. Honorary pallbearers were Men of First United Pentecostal Church.

Cynthia (Cindy) Burkhalter Block, 56

Cynthia (Cindy) Burkhalter Block, 56, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born in Toombs County and had lived in Glennville all of her life. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and a homemaker. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her father, Herbert J. Burkhalter.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Charles Block of Glennville; daughter and son - in - law, Jamie and J.K. Crews of Reidsville; mother, Johnnie Burkhalter of Glennville; sisters and brothers - in - law, Jeannette and Eddie Taylor of Macon, Paulette Groover, Debbie and Robert Dasher and Rhonda and Royce Kennedy, all of Glennville; brothers and sisters - in - law, Bubba and Holly Burkhalter of Glennville, Charles and Wynette Burkhalter of Claxton, Terry and Earlene Burkhalter, Randy and Lisa Burkhalter, Ricky Burkhalter, all of Glennville; several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 3, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Brannen - Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Oscar Rowe, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles Block, Bubba Burkhalter, Charles Burkhalter, Terry Burkhalter, Randy Burkhalter and Ricky Burkhalter.
