MISS ASHLEY NICOLE WALLACE

Miss Ashley Nicole Wallace died Jan. 6, 1997.

Funeral services were held Jan. 9 at Higgins and Sons Funeral Home in Fairburn with the Rev. Harvey Self officiating. Interment followed at College Park Cemetery.

Survivors include her parents, Doug and Dana Wallace; brothers, Andrew Joseph Wees, Keith Dewaine Underwood; grandparents, Carol Jane Landers, Pam Alexander, J.R. Alexander, Geraldine Alexander, great-grandmother, Eloise Wallace; aunts and uncles.

MRS. RUTH WILKERSON

Mrs. Ruth Wilkerson of Gary Summers Road in Senoia passed away Jan. 10, 1997 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

Funeral services will be announced later by Sellers-Smith Funeral Home.
DR. THOMAS S. BAILEY JR.

Dr. Thomas S. Bailey Jr. 81, of Savannah and Gulf Shores, Ala. died March 13, 1997 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Born in Newnan, Dr. Thomas was the son of the late Dr. Thomas Sargent Bailey Sr. and Sara Vickers Bailey. He was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force after 24 years of services and served under Gen. George Patton as a dental surgeon in the World War II Medical Corp.

After the war, Dr. Thomas commanded the Air Force Medical Clinics in Germany, England and Japan. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the retired Officers Association.

Graveside services will be held March 15 (today) at 4 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with full military honors.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Wynn Bailey of Savannah; daughter, Linda Karr of Amarillo, Texas; step-daughters, Wynn A. Creal, Dotty Armstrong, both of Atlanta, Louise A. Grotheer of Savannah; step-sons, Jesse J. Armstrong Jr. of Newnan and Lance Bailey of Albuquerque, N.M.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

MR. J.E. BOSWELL

Mr. J.E. Boswell, 82, of Franklin died March 7, 1997 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.

Born Nov. 17, 1914 in Coweta County, Mr. Boswell was the son of the late George and Elizabeth Phillips Boswell.

A member of Hogansville Church of Christ, Mr. Boswell was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer and a retired worker from Grantville Mills.

Funeral services were held March 9 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the minister Mansell Carpenter, minister Russell Wearden and minister Ronald Nation officiating.

Interment followed at Southview Cemetery in Moreland with Rick Coker, Brian Wood, Bobby Lowry, John Lowry, Rick Smith, Bobby Denney, Wayne Jones and Billy Tucker serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ruth Boswell of Franklin; daughters, Mary Alice Wood of Franklin, Allen Lowry of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sons, Joseph E. Boswell Jr. of Franklin, Michael Allen Boswell of Corinth; sister, Myrtle Jones of Grantville; brother, Henry Boswell of Buchanan; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

MRS. NITA BROWN

Mrs. Nita Brown of Peachtree City died Feb. 26, 1997.

Graveside services were held Feb. 28 at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City with Dr. Don Smith officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Frederick Brown Jr. of Peachtree City; daughter, Mike and Sandy Fleming of Sharpsburg; grandson, Ron and Dana Popiel of Jonesboro; great-grandchildren, Nick Popiel and Ashtin Popiel, both of Jonesboro; brother, John W. and Mayron Boyce of Birmingham, Ala.; niece, Anita Jones of Birmingham; and nephew, John W. Boyce Jr. of Atlanta.

Memorial contributions can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City Building Fund, 206 Willowbend Road, Peachtree City, Ga., 30269.

MR. T. GORDON CARTER

Mr. T. Gordon Carter, 87, of Sharpsburg died March 7, 1997 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born May 8, 1909 in Carroll County, Mr. Carter was the son of the late Alonzo and Linie (Morrow) Carter. He was a member of Turin Baptist Church and a retired supervisor from Southern Mills.

Funeral services were held March 9 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Deakins officiating. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan with Joe Gazaway, Paul Poole, Carlos Camp, Joe Mitchell, Gene Crunklin and Silas White serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Sophie (Newman) Carter; daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Susan) Williams of Macon; grandchildren, Van Williams of Los Angeles, Cheryl Williams of Atlanta; sisters, Louise Phillips of Whitesburg, Catherine Benton of Fairburn; and brothers, Roy Carter of Vero Beach, Fla., Grant Carter of Kingston, Tenn., and Charles Carter of Hemet, Calif.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or Turin Baptist Church.

MR. MARVIN EUGENE EDGE

Mr. Marvin Eugene Edge, 79, of Christian City in Union City died March 11, 1997 at Southern Regional Hospital.

Born Sept. 22, 1917 in Toccoa, Mr. Edge was the son of the late Balos Murphy Edge and Addie Martin (Williams) Edge. A member of Valley Hill Baptist Church, he was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a retired electrician from R.D. Cole Manufacturing Company and Kliklok. He was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.

Funeral services were held March 12 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Travis Eidson officiating, assisted by Lawrence Cole and the Rev. Rick Duncan. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Survivors include his son, Ferrell Edge of Newnan; daughter, Ann (Wallace) Hardy of Pine Mountain; step-children, Lajuana (Buddy) Pope of Carrollton, Miriam (Harold) Hubbard of Franklin, Lawrence Cole of Little Rock, Ark.; sisters, Mrs. Jackson (Mae) Stephens of Newnan, Mrs. Eugene (Helen) Williams of Royston; brothers, Roy (Beverly) Edge of Sharpsburg, Harry (Sherry) Edge of Forest Park, E.C. (Frauline) Edge of Newnan; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

MRS. MARTHA TANNER EIDSON

Mrs. Martha Tanner Eidson, 83, of Richardson, Texas died March 10, 1997 at Baylor Medical Center in Richardson.

Born May 20, 1913 in Wrightsville, Ga., Mrs. Eidson was the daughter of the late Bartow Tanner and Nana Luck Bullard and the widow of H. Ragan Eidson. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newnan and a retired accountant with Shell Oil Co.

Graveside services were held March 13 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan with the Rev. Gary Parrish officiating.

Survivors include her son, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Marjorie) Hansen of Richardson; grandchildren, Greg Hansen of Plano, Texas, Christopher Hansen of Allen, Texas; great-grandchild, Brittany Hansen of Allen, Texas; and brother, Thomas L. Bullard of Panama City, Fla.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the First Methodist Church of Newnan.

MR. ROBERT AUSTIN "BOB" GORDON

Mr. Robert Austin "Bob" Gordon, 89, of Newnan died march 11, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born March 6, 1908 in Laurel, Miss., Mr. Gordon was the son of the late Alexander and Lucy (Reeves) Gordon. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel.

Funeral services were held March 13 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Gene Tyre officiating, assisted by the Rev. Don Helms. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Bill Amis, Keith Fix, Scott Fix, Mark Fix, Harold Hayes, Sidney Gresham, Gene Miller and David Shefelton serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah E. (Martin) Gordon of Newnan; daughter, Debra Shefelton of Newnan; son, Robert Earl Gordon of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Robert Alan Gordon, Melinda Ann Gordon, April Shefelton, Gracie Shefelton; sister, Emma Catherine Chancellor of Laurel, Miss.; and brothers, Irby Gordon of Louisiana and Jarvis Gordon of Burkeville, Texas.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association.

MR. HORACE B. HEGGOOD

Mr. Horace B. Heggood, 51, of Newnan died March 11, 1997 at St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta.

Born April 27, 1945 in Spaulding County, Mr. Heggood was the son of the late Horace and Lena Bell Gaddy Heggood. He was a member of Mills Chapel Baptist Church and worked at the Kmart warehouse.

Funeral services were held March 13 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Allan Mathura officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Heggood of Newnan; sons, David and Casey Heggood of Senoia, Horace and Clara Heggood of Newnan, Michael Heggood of Newnan; daughter, Angie and Rick Moreland of Franklin; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Kenneth Bernard Henry, 34, of Palmetto passed away March 10 at Newnan Hospital.

Mrs. Fannie Mae Jones of Union City passed away March 13 at Georgia Baptist Hospital.

MR. JERRY F. KING

Mr. Jerry F. King, 55, of Newnan died March 2, 1997 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born Nov. 26, 1941 in West Virginia, Mr. King was the son of the late Lee Lesley King and Edith Jane (Reip) King. He was a member of the Baptist faith and a member of the Moose Lodge.

Mr. King was a U.S. Army veteran and a truck driver for the Army Air Force Exchange.

Funeral services were held March 5 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. James Calhoun officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dewey Digsby. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan with Joe Young, Sammy Whitten, Jerry Callahan, Mike Arrington, Ross Screws and Richard Lower serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Trudy (Greenwood) King of Newnan; daughter, Marilyn (Dwayne) Digsby of Newnan; son, Timothy (Allison) King of Newnan; sisters, Betty Howell of Louisville, Kent., Kinda Damron, Connie Moore, both of Pennsboro, W.V., Patty Daggett, Mary Lee Talrico, both of Parkersburg, W.V.; brothers, Bernard King of Parkersburg, W.V., Terry King, Gail King, both of Pennsboro, W.V., Paul King of Dallas, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
