MR. OFFET DANIEL

Mr. Offet Daniel, 73, of Belk Road in Newnan passed away Feb. 26, 1997 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Decatur.

Born May 21, 1923 in Franklin, Mr. Daniel was the son of the late Sam Ben and Sallie Kate Daniel. He was preceded in death by a sister, Orla Lee Hodges, and brothers, Shelton Daniel and James Williams.

A military veteran, Mr. Daniel was employed by Sears, Roebuck and Company and C&S Bank before his retirement. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witness faith.

Funeral services were held March 1 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Brother Paul Barber officiating, assisted by Brother Bill Sprinkle. Interment followed at Sunset Cemetery with his grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Daniel; daughters, Martha Woodruff of Atlanta, Gennie White of Decatur, Julia Hagan of Riverdale, Clara Meriwether, Catherine Daniel, both of Newnan; sons, Oscar Daniel of Fairburn, John Daniel of Decatur; son-in-law, Terry White; daughters-in-law, Gwen (John) Daniel, Gwen (Oscar) Daniel; sisters, Martha Long of Chattanooga, Tenn., Mildred Callaway of Franklin, Winnie Sue Dunson of Chattanooga, Louise Williams of Michigan; brothers, Clinton Daniel of Franklin, Willie B. Daniel of Anniston, Ala., Quincy L. Daniel of Franklin; 13 grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews.

MR. WILLIE EARL DIXON

Mr. Willie Earl Dixon, 69, of Burnham Road in Newnan died March 3, 1997 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born July 15, 1927 in Chamber County, Ala., Mr. Dixon was the son of the late Jewell and Minnie Dixon. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Dixon, and a daughter, Diane Dixon.

Retired from Vulcan Materials Co., Mr. Dixon was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Riverview, Ala.

Funeral services were held March 4 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Fleming officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with Buren Lassetter, Jimmy Lassetter, Marion "Slim" Broome, Roy K. Duncan, James Thompkins and Danny Searels serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his children, Donald and Kathy Dixon, Jerry Dixon, Dennis and Holley Dixon, all of Newnan, Mark and Kathy Newman of Moreland; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

MS. HELEN ECHOLS

Ms. Helen Echols of Palmetto passed away March 1, 1997 at South Fulton Medical Center in East Point.

Survivors include her sisters, Annie Ruth Echols of Palmetto, Julia E. Ware, Oreather Knight, Lucille Graddy and Leola Rosser, all of Newnan.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home.

MR. ERIC J. FAVORS

Mr. Eric J. Favors of Newnan passed away March 1 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Sellers-Smith Funeral Home.

MR. FRANK L. HARRINGTON

Mr. Frank L. Harrington, 67, of Bailey Drive in Newnan died Feb. 19, 1997 at Dogwood Health Center in Fairburn.

Born Oct. 2, 1929 in North Carolina, Mr. Harrington was the son of the late Luther and Cornelia (Hammett) Harrington. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan and a retired salesman with Gulf Life Insurance Co.

Funeral services were held Feb. 21 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Helms officiating. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan with members of the David Stripling Sunday School Class serving as pallbearers and honorary escort.

Survivors include his wife, Sara P. (Potts) Harrington; daughters, Mr. and Mrs. David (Sandy) Moore of Lawrenceville, Dana Harrington of Franklin; son, Kenneth Harrington of Milledgeville; brothers, George Harrington, Ed Harrington, both of Newnan; and grandsons, Ben Moore and Chris Moore.

Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Newnan.

MR. WILLIAM LARRY JACKSON

Mr. Willie Larry Jackson, 51, of Palmetto passed away Feb. 25, 1997 at Twelve Oaks Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 30, 1945 in Coweta County, Mr. Jackson attended school in Fulton County and worked with Minix Tile Company.

Funeral services were held March 1 at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home in Newnan with the Rev. J.R. Williams officiating, assisted by the Rev. Sandra Domineck, the Rev. Ralph Tutman and the Rev. Melvin Henry.

Interment followed at Floral Hill Cemetery in Palmetto with Rodney Rich, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Rich, Antwuan Jackson, Michael Cook, Demetrius Jenkins and John Cook serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his friend Bernice Daniel of Fairburn; mother, Alma Shropshire of Palmetto; sisters, Marie Cook of Palmetto, Mary Rich, Helen Jackson, both of Atlanta; brothers, Albert Jackson of Duluth, Johnny Jackson of Fairburn, Joseph Jackson of Palmetto; sisters-in-law, Freddie Jackson, Pearline Jackson; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

MR. KENZIE ANDREW JONES

Mr. Kenzie Andrew Jones, 77, of Conyers died Feb. 1, 1997.

Born Nov. 30, 1919 in Carroll County, Mr. Jones was the son of the late Will and Earline Jones. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray M. "Bill" Jones.

Mr. Jones moved to Coweta County in 1933 and later moved to Atlanta, where he worked at and retired from Ballard Optical Company.

Graveside services were held Feb. 3 at Green Meadow Memorial Park in Conyers with the Rev. Mike Smith officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Coleman Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Bennie and Katie Jones of Jackson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Mike Williams of Portsmouth, Va., Mabel Holloway of Newnan, Roy and Evelyn Mooney of Forest Park; nieces and nephews.

MR. LELAND P. LAMB

Mr. Leland P. Lamb, 75, of Happy Valley Circle in Newnan died March 3, 1997 at Hospice LaGrange.

Born Jan. 1, 1922 in Charleston, S.C., Mr. Lamb was the son of the late Pasco Perry Lamb. He was a member of Tri-County Baptist Church and a retired Eastern Airlines mechanic.

Graveside services will be held March 7 at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with the Rev. Ron Whitlock officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Daly, Robbins Holley, Charles Ervin, Tom Joiner, Tommy Hawk, A.J. Holcombe and Richard Collier.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Lamb of Newnan; sons, Gilbert Allen Lamb of LaGrange, Bruce William Lamb of China Grove, N.C., David Pasco Lamb of Ft. Lewis, Wash.; daughters, Gloria Jeanine Danley of Charlotte, N.C., Linnet Esther Yohman of Leominister, Mass.; mother, Mary Lamb of Shreveport, La.; sisters, Juanita Kahler of Shreveport, Roberta Fulford of Ocala, Fla.; brothers, Vernon Lee Lamb of Ocala, Doyle Lamb of Sebring, Fla., Melvin Lamb of Clearwater, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren.

MRS. NETTIE G. LEWIS

Mrs. Nettie G. Lewis, 90, of Newnan died March 2, 1997 at Franklin Health Care.

Born May 27, 1906 in Alabama, Mrs. Lewis was the daughter of the late William W. and Maude (Gay) Faulkner and was the widow of Arthur L. Lewis Sr. She was a member of West End Christian Church and worked for Cluett Peabody as a machine operator.

Graveside services were held March 4 at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta with the Rev. Terry Thompkins officiating.

Survivors include her son, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. (Hazel) Lewis Jr. of Newnan; grandsons, A. Lee Lewis, G. Reed Lewis, Tim W. Lewis, all of Sharpsburg; sisters, Eula Mae Mitchell of New Madrid, Mo., Ora Holt of Memphis, Tenn., Ivey Simmons of St. Louis, Mo.; six great-grandchildren.

MR. MARVIN LUTHER MAYFIELD

Mr. Marvin Luther Mayfield of Tyrone died March 2, 1997.

Funeral services will be held March 5 (today) at Parrott Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Long and Pastor Ron Stribling officiating. Interment followed at Sharon Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Mayfield; daughters, Sherry Moss of Fayetteville, Donna Haynes of Palmetto; mother, Edna Mayfield of Fayetteville; sister, Linda Haynes of of Clermont, Fla.; brothers, Edward Mayfield of Senoia, Tommy Mayfield of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Kenneth Mayfield of Fayetteville; grandchildren Rachel Moss, Jonathan Moss, Amber Haynes; nieces and nephews.

MRS. NELLIE JO G. PAYNE

Mrs. Nellie Jo G. Payne, 80, of Newnan died March 2, 1997 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.

Born Feb. 13, 1917 in Clem, Mrs. Payne was the daughter of the late Cecil F. and Bessie Mae (Bearden) Godbee and the widow of Vester H. Payne. She was a retired textile worker.

Funeral services were held at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Crenshaw officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bill Dean. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Survivors include her sister, Florice Godbee of Newnan.

MRS. JODIE REYNOLDS PAYTON

Mrs. Jodie Reynolds Payton, 82, of Newnan died March 2, 1997 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born Dec. 1, 1914 in Tallahassee, Fla., Mrs. Payton was the daughter of the late Rubin J. and Martha (Sisson) Mulkey and the widow of C.B. "Jack" Payton. She was a member of Elim Baptist Church and a retired sales clerk from Kessler.

Funeral services were held March 4 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Alderman officiating, assisted by Clay Henry. Interment followed at Elim Baptist Church Cemetery with Allen Payton, Aaron Payton, Farron Payton, Damon Payton, Jimmy Morris, Scott Morris, Shane Cox and Randy Cox serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Payton Morris, Karen Payton Cox, both of Newnan; son, Jack "Buster" Payton of Newnan; sisters-in-law, Nell Payton, Connie Payton, both of Newnan; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
