MR. ROY HOLTZCLAW JR.

Mr. Roy Holtzclaw Jr., 56, of Poplar Road in Newnan died Feb. 24, 1997 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Atlanta.

Born Jan. 1, 1941 in Coweta County, Mr. Holtzclaw was the son of the late Lee Holtzclaw. He was a U.S. Marines veteran and a construction worker.

Funeral services were held Feb. 25 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Franklin Treadwell officiating. Interment followed at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Carroll County with Freddie Cox, Chris Costlow, Tim Holtzclaw, Jim Holbrook, Steve Holbrook and Billy Burgess serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his mother, Hallie Mae Holtzclaw of Newnan; daughters, David and Kelly Lashley of Newnan, Rhonda Pettway of Atlanta; sister Catherine McWhorter of Newnan; brother, Bradford Holtzclaw of Augusta; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

MISS ORA LEE HOWINGTON

Miss Ora Lee Howington, 90, of Hogansville died Feb. 27, 1997 at the Brian Center of Nursing Care in LaGrange.

A native of Winder, Miss Howington was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville and was retired from Uniroyal Inc.

Funeral services will be held March 2 (tomorrow) a 2 p.m. at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville with Dr. Jimmy Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Hogansville Cemetery.

MR. WILLIE LARRY JACKSON

Mr. Willie Larry Jackson of Beckman Street in Palmetto passed away Feb. 25, 1997 at Twelve Oaks Convalescent Home in Jonesboro.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Sellers-Smith Funeral Home.

MRS. MARGARET EVELYN LONG MAY

Mrs. Margaret Evelyn Long May, 74, of Hilltop Nursing Home in Fulton County died Feb. 25, 1997 after an extended illness.

Born Oct. 25, 1922 in Carroll County, Mrs. May was the daughter of the late Lee and Leila Pitts Long. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

Graveside services were held Feb. 27 at Flovilla City Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Smith and the Rev. Joel Brown officiating.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John and Sandy May of Jackson; brother, J.B. Long of Sargent; sister, Jesse Hanson of Newnan; niece and nephew, Wanda and Jesse Harris of Sargent and six grandchildren.

MR. MICHAEL MARCUS

Mr. Michael Marcus, 40, of Hampton Street in Newnan passed away Feb. 21, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Sept. 20, 1956 in Atlanta, Mr. Marcus was the son of the late James L. Marcus. He graduated from Douglas High School in Atlanta.

Funeral services were held Feb. 26 at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. J.C. Neal officiating. Interment followed at Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery in Moreland with relatives and friends serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his mother, Rosa L. Marcus; brothers, Harvey G. Marcus, James A. Marcus; sister-in-law, Josephine Marcus; nieces; great-nephews; aunts and uncles.

MISS ELIZABETH BORDERS

Miss Elizabeth Borders, 82, of Hogansville died Feb. 20, 1997 at Alvista Care Home in Greenville.

Born Oct. 17, 1914 in Columbus, Miss Borders was the daughter of the late John Thaddeus Borders and Minnie Lewis Borders. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and the Amazing Grace Sunday School Class.

Funeral services were held Feb. 22 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Marty Few officiating. Interment followed at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Survivors include her sister, Ora Mae Borders of Hogansville; foster daughter, Alice Tomme of Forest Park; four foster grandchildren; and six foster great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice LaGrange Charitable Trust or the Alzheimer's Association.

MR. HARVEY G. BRAND

Mr. Harvey G. Brand, 70, of Franklin died Feb. 22, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born May 12, 1926 in Coweta County, Mr. Brand was the son of the late George and Elizabeth Redding Brand. He was a member of McIntosh Baptist Church and a maintenance foreman with the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Mr. Brand was preceded in death by his children, Udeoria Brand and Gleenis Brand.

Funeral services were held Feb. 25 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home in Newnan with the Rev. Lyndsey Maxwell officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with Frank Crook, Curtis Hines, Lenward Bassett, Mike Cabrera, Bill McCullough and Jeremy Striblin serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Brand of Franklin; children, Malone Brand of LaGrange, Ghami Brand of Franklin, Mignon Brand of Dallas, Texas, Glenda Duncan of Franklin; sister, Christine Adams of Franklin; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

MRS. MARVIN (BENNIS NATIONS) DUKE

Mrs. Marvin (Bennis Nations) Duke, 83, of Seavy Street in Senoia died Feb. 18, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born in Fayette County, Mrs. Duke was the daughter of the late James Andrew Nations Jr. and Birdie Edmondson. She was a retired school teacher having taught in the Coweta and Fayette school systems for more than 40 years. She was a member of Senoia United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Feb. 20 at Senoia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carol Cook officiating. Interment followed at Senoia City Cemetery.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Alma Duke of Senoia; grandchildren, Marty Duke, Jeffery Duke, Aimee Duke, all of Newnan; sister, Parker Cleveland of Senoia; brother, John Nations of Macon; nieces and nephews.

Miss Quamel Renee Gibbs of Ball Street in Newnan passed away Feb. 20, 1997 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Funeral services were held Feb. 22 at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home with evangelist Laura Carter officiating. Interment followed at Eastview Cemetery.

Survivors include her parents, Gregory Gibbs and Youlanda Pope; sister, Cherhonda Pope; brother, Marcellas Pope; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. (Sadie Heard) Marshall, Nancy Gibbs; aunts, La'Shonya Heard, Cherhonda Pope, Peki Pope, Tracy Pope, Trena Gibbs; uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Tyrone Pope, Gregory Pope, Darnell Gibbs, Eric Gibbs and Brian Gibbs.

Mrs. Maria Goolsby, 91, of Savannah Street in Newnan passed away Feb. 20, 1997 at Starcrest of Newnan.

Born June 25, 1905 in Coweta County, Mrs. Goolsby wasa member of St. John Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Feb. 25 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. J.T. Coleman officiating, assisted by the Rev. W.J. Johnson and other ministers. Interment followed at Eastview Cemetery with the deacons of St. John Baptist Church and Zion Hill Baptist Church serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her children Charles Goolsby, Ollie L. Favors of Newnan, Hugh Goolsby of East Point, Mr. and Mrs. Tom (Flora) Goolsby of Atlanta; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

MRS. CALLIE HORSLEY

Mrs. Callie Horsley, 84, of Garden Terrace Nursing Home in Douglasville died Feb. 23, 1997.

Born June 14, 1912 in Carroll County, Mrs. Horsley was the daughter of the late Gordon and Viola Wilson Boatright and the widow of Colbert C. Horsley. She was a homemaker and a member of Cross Plains Baptist Church.

Mrs. Horsley was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jean Marshall, and brothers, Ray Rigsby and Bud Rigsby.

Funeral services were held Feb. 24 at Cross Plains Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Rice officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery with Timmy Boatright, Randy Cansler, Bobby Boatright, James Williams, Ronnie Rigsby and Tim Patterson serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her son, James Terry Horsley of Buchanan; son-in-law, Gordon Marshall of Carrollton; sisters, Christine Rigsby of Douglasville, Mildred Boatright of Newnan, Melba Phillips of Oregon; nieces and nephews.
