MRS. LILLIE MAE HILL

Mrs. Lillie Mae Hill of Franklin died Feb. 13, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Graveside services will be held today at Crestwood Cemetery in Gasden, Ala.,

McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan.

MR. WILLIE H. HILL

Mr. Willie H. Hill, 54, passed away Jan. 31, 1997 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Born Aug. 15, 1942 in Coweta County, Mr. Hill was a member of New Hope AME Church in Haralson.

Funeral services were held Feb. 12 at Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home with evangelist Inez Moreland officiating, assisted by the Rev. James Alexander and the Rev. R.W. Sutton. Interment followed at White Oak Grove Cemetery in Haralson with Henry Tolbert, C.L. Smith, Laron Calhoun, Tyre Calhoun, Bud Calhoun Jr., and Andre Clowers serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his father, Willie C. Hill; brother, Willie Ed Hill of Atlanta; aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Gould, Margie White, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Walker, all of Newnan, Daisy Murphy, Louvenia Hill, both of Atlanta, Inez Strickland of Haralson; and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hill of Newnan.

MR. LUTHER THOMAS MORAN

Mr. Luther Thomas Moran, 82, of Spring Street in Newnan died Feb. 11, 1997 at a Newnan hospital.

A native of Carroll County, Mr. Moran was the son of the late Della Pearl Phillips and Thomas Appleton Moran. He was retired from Bibb Manufacturing Company and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie East Moran, and a daughter, Jane Walker.

Funeral services were held Feb. 14 at Almon Funeral Home with the Rev. David A. Arrington officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Frances Cusick of Waynesville, Mo., Shirley Seale of Martha's Vineyard, Mass., Bernice and Bobby Hosmer of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Juanita and Milam Yarbrough of Newnan, Sheron and Bobby Duffey of Newnan, Teresa and Charles Stanford of Newnan; sons and daughters-in-law, James B. and Shirley Moran of Moreland, Tony and Debra Moran of Senoia; sisters, Vera Lee Clark of LaGrange, Opal Jones of Newnan, Maureen Williams of Carrollton; 27 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

MR. HARRY C. SMITH

Mr. Harry C. Smith, 80, of Grantville died Feb. 10, 1997 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.

Born May 3, 1916 in Coweta County, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Walter and Tommie Kate O'Neal. He was a member of Luther G. Watkins Masonic Lodge and a member of First Baptist Church in Grantville.

Mr. Smith served 21 years with the Grantville Police department, retiring as police chief. He was a member of the Peace Officers Association of Georgia.

Funeral services were held Feb. 12 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Willard Dean officiating. Interment followed at the Grantville Cemetery with Everett Hendrix, Mike Plant, Lem Kee, David Plant, Jimmy Pye and Doug Jewell serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Plant Smith of Grantville; son, Charles Smith of Newnan; and grandchildren, Will Smith and Charlsie Smith of Newnan.

MR. RICHARD M. BORDERS

Mr. Richard M. Borders, 43, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., formerly of Newnan, died Sept. 9, 1997 at his home.

Born Oct. 27, 1953 in Rome, Mr. Borders was a boilermaker with Local No. 26.

A memorial service will be held Sept. 20 (today) at 2 p.m. at Arnco Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Eidson and the Rev. John Yost officiating.

Survivors include his brother, Ronald Lee Borders of Fernandina Beach; sister-in-law, Regina Borders; nephews, Shane Borders, Troy Borders; niece, Mahalia Borders; great-nieces and great-nephews.

MR. JAMES LEWIS BRADBERRY

Mr. James Lewis "Brad" Bradberry, 85, of Grantville died Sept. 17, 1997 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.

Born Jan. 31, 1912 in Coweta County, Mr. Bradberry was the son of the late Charlie and Hattie Mae Morris Bradberry. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Moreland Baptist Church.

Mr. Bradberry was retired from the William L. Bonnell Co. after 24 years.

Graveside service was Sept. 19 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan with the Rev. Willard Dean officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Cole Bradberry of Grantville, and nieces.

Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Grantville.

MR. WILLIAM GETER

Mr. William "Will" Geter of Greentop Road in Newnan died Sept. 16, 1997 at the Wesley Wood Center in Atlanta. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Sellers-Smith Funeral Home in Newnan.

MR. WILLIAM A. JUSTISS

Mr. William A. "Bill" Justiss, 77, of Hogansville died Sept. 17, 1997 at Molena Nursing Home in Molena.

Born Aug. 13, 1920 in Coweta County, Mr. Justiss was the son of the late Warner and Eva Rosser Justiss. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was retired from William L. Bonnell Co. after 30 years.

Mr. Justiss was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Grantville, where he was a member of the choir.

Funeral was Sept. 19 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral home with the Rev. Kara Stalcup officiating. Interment followed at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville with Chris Denney, Chuck Brazell, Hilton Odom, Sammy Hubbard, Everett Hendrix and J.C. Daniel serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his daughter, Datha Whitner of Manchester; sisters, Ruth Denney of Newnan, Marion Shaddix of Columbus; and grandchildren, Chris Denney and Ashley Denney.

MRS. VIRGINIA JOHNSON MOORE

Mrs. Virginia Johnson Moore, 85, of Moreland died Sept. 17, 1997 at Franklin Healthcare Center.

Born March 15, 1912 in Coweta County, Mrs. Moore was the daughter of the late William and Abigail Hunter Johnson and the widow of Warner E. Moore. She was a member of Moreland Baptist Church.

Funeral was at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Willard Dean officiating. Burial followed at Southview Cemetery in Moreland.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Cathy Moore of Moreland; grandchildren, Michael S. Moore of Minot, N.D. and Steven W. Moore of Moreland.

MR. JOHN WILLIAM "J.W." THOMPSON

Mr. John William "J.W." Thompson, 87, of J.W. Thompson Road in Moreland died Sept. 16, 1997 at his home.

Born Dec. 2, 1909 in Coweta County, Mr. Thompson was the son of the late Joseph Samuel Thompson and Hattie Eurah (Evans) Thompson and the husband of the late Nellie Kate (Hunter) Thompson. He was a member of White Oak Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Moreland.

Mr. Thompson was a retired clerk at Cureton and Cole store and retired as a bus driver after 43 years with a longer service record than any driver in the state.

Funeral was Sept. 18 at White Oak Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Moreland with the Rev. Rabun Williams officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jerry Eley. Burial was at the church cemetery with J.C. Hunter, James Newby, Mutt Hunter, Jacky Hunter, Kirk Thompson, Dick Thompson, Randy Cox and Don Smith serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his sons, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood (Mary Jane) Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby (Alma Jane) Thompson, all of Moreland; sisters, Lavonia Thompson Smith, Virginia Thompson Cauthen, both of Moreland; brother, George Thompson of Moreland; brother-in-law, Cecil Hunter of Moreland; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the White Oak Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Moreland cemetery fund.

Mr. Tolerson Watkins Jr., 54, of Marietta died Sept. 13, 1997 at Hospice Atlanta.

Born Dec. 13, 1942 in Coweta County, Mr. Watkins was a member of Summer Hill Baptist Church in Moreland. He was a graduate of Central High School and held a bachelor's degree. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Funeral was Sept. 18 at Summer Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. J.T. Coleman officiating, assisted by the Rev. C. Davis. Interment followed at Eastview Cemetery with the Central High School Class of 1961 serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Carrie M. Watkins of Riverdale; daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Alton (Montina) Billings of Senoia, Quantina B. Watkins of Cleveland, Ohio; mother, Lula Pearl Watkins of Atlanta; step-son, Curtis Jones of Madison, Ala.; brother, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Cecil Watkins of Decatur; sisters, Mr. and Mrs. John (Georgia) Huggins of Woodbridge, Va., Brenda C. Watkins of Cleveland; mother-in-law, Edwerna Jones of Madison; brother-in-law, Billie Jones of Huntsville, Ala.; sister-in-law, Catherine Jones of Huntsville; uncle, Artell Watkins of Cartersville; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
