MRS. OPAL FRANCES CLARK BANKS

Mrs. Opal Frances Clark Banks, 79, of Sargent died Sept. 1, 1997 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born Sept. 17, 1917 in Meriwether County, Mrs. Banks was the daughter of the late Marvin Johnson and Lelia Argrove. She was preceded in death by husbands, Ray Clark and Render Banks, and son, Charles Clark.

She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Sept. 2 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward Helton officiating, assisted by the Rev. Clarence Burnham. Interment followed at Happy Hill Cemetery in Carroll County with Tony Cook, Kevin Shipley, Tony Vaughn, Shane Blankenship, Barry McKee and Tim Langford serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her son, Clifford Clark of Meriwether County; daughters, Sue Moore of Meriwether County, Brenda Cook of Carrollton, Linda Noles of Grantville; sisters, Ethel Webb of Carrollton, June McWhorter of Memphis, Tenn.; brother, Fred Johnson of Roopville; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

MR. RONALD 'RON' MICHAEL BOOKER

Mr. Ronald "Ron" Michael Booker, 49, formerly of Newnan, died Aug. 26, 1997 at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Mr. Booker was born April 25, 1950 in Oceanside, Calif.

Funeral services were held Aug. 30, 1997 at Lake Forest Church of Christ in Southhaven, Miss. Interment followed at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Debra; stepdaughter, Shawn Merrie, Shannon Merrie of Horn Lake, Miss.; parents, Robert and Bonnie Booker of Newnan; brothers, Greg Booker of Lawrenceville, Rick Booker of Dallas, Texas; and sisters, Bonnie Reynolds of Houston, Texas, Laura Forrest of Sharpsburg.

MRS. LETITIA MARIE PHILLIPS BREWSTER

Mrs. Letitia Marie Phillips Brewster, 50, of Hill Street in Newnan passed away Sept. 2, 1997 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born June 19, 1947, Mrs. Phillips was the daughter of the late Lewis Phillips and the widow of Aaron Brewster. She was preceded in death by a brother, James R. Phillips.

Funeral services were held Sept. 5 at Mount Olive United Methodist Church with the Rev. W.C. Golphin officiating, assisted by the Rev. H. Kemp and Bishop Wilfred Durrah Jr.

Interment followed at Eastview Cemetery with Jamison Durrah, Alvin White, Truman Render, Vincent Smith, Carlton Taylor and Marantonio King serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his sons, Charles B. Phillips, Gregory Brewster; daughters-in-law, Precilla Brewster, Mary Elizabeth Phillips; grandchildren, Ashley, Adrienre Brewster, Asia K. Phillips; mother, Frances Phillips; sister, Rosa Kate Phillips Williams; aunts, Alice Elder, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford King; uncles, Mr. and Mrs. George Durrah, Albert Durrah, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Durrah, Leon Phillips of Atlanta, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Phillips; sisters-in-law, Mildred Brewster, LaRose Phillips of Newnan; brothers-in-law, Tony, Leon, Horace, James and Charles Brewster; nieces and nephews.

MR. WILLIAM LAWSON COLE

Mr. William Lawson Cole, 75, of Roswell died Sept. 3, 1997.

Mr. Cole was a former president of Wells Fargo Armored Service Corporation having served with the company from 1949-1979. He become the owner of Risk Survey Services of Ft. Myers, Fla. and Atlanta.

He was also a sales representative for Procter & Gamble, Distributing Co. from 1946-1949, as well as the Consejero Delegado managing director of Transportes Blindados, S.A. in Madrid, Spain from 1974-1988.

Mr. Cole was a former member of the Miami Florida Rotary Club, the Miami Executives Association, the Miami Club, the Riviera Country Club of Coral Gables, the Memphis Country Club, the Five Lakes Outing Club in Hughes, Ark. and the Anniston Country Club.

Mr. Cole was also a former member of the European Security Transport Association, the Spain Security Transport Association, and the Ligue Internationale des Societe de Surveillance. He was the former vice chairman of the Private Security Services Council and the American Society for Industrial Security.

Mr. Cole was also the former president of the National Armored Car Association. He served as a deck officer with the U.S. Maritime Service, a lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve and an officer/instructor for the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

He served in the North Atlantic, the South Atlantic, Italy, Caribbean and European theaters.

Graveside Services will be held Sept. 6 (today) at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Dr. Watson Mills officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine Cole of Roswell; sons, James W. Cole of Tampa, Fla. and Steven B. Cole of Street-Somerset, England; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sharpsburg Baptist Church, 6413 Georgia Highway 54, Sharpsburg, Ga., 30265.

MISS NANCY SUE PHILLIPS

Miss Nancy Sue Phillips, 84, of Greenwood Circle in East Point died Aug. 21, 1997 at Southwest Christian Hospice.

Born Dec. 4, 1912 in Coweta County, Miss Phillips was the daughter of the late Thomas Fred Phillips and Ophelia Eugenia (Smith) Phillips. She was retired from the U.S. Army.

Graveside services were held Aug. 24 at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Don Helms officiating.

Survivors include her sister, Ruby Inez Phillips of East Point; sisters-in-law, Helen Phillips of Newnan, Joyce Smith Phillips of Sargent; nephew, Richard J. Phillips of College Park; nieces, Hilda P. McWhorter, Debra Phillips Spavone, Dura Kissel, all of Newnan; great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to Southwest Christian Hospice, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, Ga., 30291.

MR. ROBERT FRANK TURNER

Mr. Robert Frank Turner of Gordon Road in Senoia passed away Sept. 2, 1997 at Newnan Hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Sellers-Smith Funeral Home.

MR. EDWARD DeANGELO WARE

Mr. Edward DeAngelo Ware, 31, of Welcome-Sargent Road in Newnan passed away Aug. 28, 1997 at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta.

Born March 12, 1966, Mr. Ware attended Western Elementary School, Central Middle School and Newnan High School, graduating in 1986. He worked at Hardee's, O.P. Evans and Bibb Co.

Mr. Ware was a member of Powell Chapel United Methodist Church.

Memorial services were held Sept. 1 at Powell Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. R.W. Sutton officiating, assisted by the Rev. Felton James and the Rev. Willie Lee Geter.

Survivors include his wife, Mittie; children, Marcus Antwon, Maria Chrishunn, Maurice DeAngelo; parents, Willie Mae Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Celia) Ware; grandmothers, Ella Mae Meriwether, Edna Mae Paige; sisters, Bonsha Ware, Lavasia Bell, Roshelle Ware; brother, Damon Ware; aunts, Ada Parks, Mr. and Mrs. Garnette (Dorothy) Smith, Jacqueline Meriwether, Doris Brown, Shirley Petty, Portia Ball; uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Calvin (Betty) Sutton, Mr. and Mrs. Alga (Teresa) Meriwether, Mr. and Mrs. Theo (Lynn) Meriwether; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Velethia) Gates, Leroy Gates, Annette, Darius, Demeterius Gates, all of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. Arlonzo (Ruby) Jackson of Englewood, N.J.; nieces; nephews and cousins.

MRS. SUSIE KIMBRELL WILSON

Mrs. Susie Kimbrell Wilson, 85, of Hapeville died Aug. 21, 1997 at Southern Regional Hospital.

Born Feb. 14, 1912 in Douglas County, Mrs. Wilson was the widow of Worth A. Wilson. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Aug. 23 at Horis A. Ward Fairview Chapel in Stockbridge with the Rev. James Ward and the Rev. Scott Brown officiating. Interment followed at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Wilson of Hapeville; son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Emily) Wilson of Turin; and grandchildren, Kevin Wilson and Karla Wilson of Turin.

MRS. MATTIE A. BARBOUR

Mrs. Mattie A. Barbour, 87, of Peachtree City died Aug. 30, 1997.

Born Jan. 26, 1910, Mrs. Barbour was the widow of Roland R. Barbour.

Funeral services will be held Sept. 3 (today) at 11 a.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Raleigh, N.C. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh.

Survivors include her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Eulogio (Jean) Candedo of Washington, N.C.; sons, Mr. and Mrs. Bill (Maxine) Barbour of Peachtree City, Mr. and Mrs. Roland (Christine) Barbour Jr. of Raleigh; sister, Kathleen Barkley of Statesville, N.C.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

MR. JERRELL FLEMING

Mr. Jerrell Fleming, 66, of Newnan died Aug. 28, 1997 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born Feb. 13, 1931 in Georgia, Mr. Fleming was the son of the late Raymond R. Fleming and Cora Iula (Willingham) Fleming. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Baptist faith.

Funeral services were held Sept. 1 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. David Arrington officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Proctor) Fleming of Newnan; daughters, Roxanne (Randy) Caswell, Robin Autry, all of Newnan; sons, Phil (Sharlette) Fleming of LaGrange, Steve (Marie) Fleming of Newnan; sisters, Estelle Holtwick of Dallas, Texas, Rhudine Shelton of Augusta; brothers, the Rev. Jimmy Fleming, Bobby Fleming, Grady Fleming, all of Newnan; and sister, Wendy Buyer of Ft. Wayne, Ind.

MR. PAUL BENNETT FERRELL

Mr. Paul Bennett Ferrell, 84, of Raymond Carson Street in Newnan died Aug. 29, 1997 at Southwest Christian Hospice.

Born March 31, 1913 in Grantville, Mr. Ferrell was the son of the late Joel Stephen Ferrell and Fannie (O'Brien) Ferrell. He was retired from William L Bonnell Company and a barber.

Mr. Ferrell was a member of Mt. Gilead Methodist Church in Sharpsburg.

Funeral Services were held Aug. 31 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Hamilton officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with Harry Roberston, Fred Cox, Joe Cox, Ed Robertson, Harold Miller and Charles Robertson serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Grace (Duke) Ferrell of Newnan; daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Billy (Emily) Johnston of Evergeen, Ala.; granddaughter, Susan Johnston of Evergreen; step-sons, Wesley McKoon, Thomas L. McKoon; step-grandchildren, Brian McKoon, Melissa Proctor.
