MRS. SANDRA G. HARRIS

Mrs. Sandra G. Harris, 36, of Railroad Street in Moreland, died Aug. 29, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Oct. 27, 1960 in Newnan, Mrs. Harris was the daughter of the late Hazel Lavonia (Dingler) Reynolds. She was a homemaker and a member of Gordon Road Church of Christ.

Funeral services were held Aug. 31 at McKoon Funeral Home with Mansel Carpenter officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Harris of Moreland; father, Thomas Carlton Garner of Newnan; daughter, Crystal Harris of Moreland; son, Brian Harris of Moreland; sisters, Mary Robertson of Newnan, Debbie Epps of Senoia; and brothers, Kenneth Ray Garner of Moreland, Tommy Garner of Newnan.

MRS. KATIE LEE MANUS

Mrs. Katie Lee Manus, 72, of Bremen died Aug. 31, 1997.

Born March 5, 1925 in Lancaster County, S.C., Mrs. Manus was the daughter of the late Robert and Lucinda Hunter and the widow of George L. Manus. She was a member of Bremen First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Sept. 3 (today) at 11 a.m. Hightower Funeral Home in Bremen with the Rev. Frank Powers officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Clem with her family serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Manus of Newnan, George Manus of Waco, Roger Manus of Austell; daughter, Vivian Eidson of Newnan; and 10 grandchildren.

MRS. DESSIE MAE SHUMAKE

Mrs. Dessie Mae Shumake, 92, of Harris Drive in Newnan died Aug. 28, 1997.

Born April 28, 1905 in Carroll County, Mrs. Shumake was the daughter of the late Tommy and Mary Gibbs Armstrong and the widow of Pete Shumake. She also was preceded in death by her son, G.C. Harris; brother, Walter Armstrong; and sister, Lucille Roberts.

Funeral services wre held Aug. 31 at Shiloh Independent Methodist Church with the Rev. Edward Helton, the Rev. Troy Smith and the Rev. Herschel Armstrong officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Christine Johnson of Aberdeen, Ohio; sons, William Morris of Newnan, Bobby Helton of Lexington, Kent.; grandchildren, Dale Pope, Frankie Harris, Shannon Britt, Tina Gifford, Vickie Ashby, Tonya Windom, Bobby Joseph Helton; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

MR. EDWARD DeANGELO WARE

Mr. Edward DeAngelo Ware, 31, of Welcome-Sargent Road in Newnan passed away Aug. 28, 1997 at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta.

Born March 12, 1966, Mr. Ware attended Western Elementary School, Central Middle School and Newnan High School, graduating in 1986. He worked at Hardee's, O.P. Evans and Bibb Co.

Mr. Ware was a member of Powell Chapel United Methodist Church.

Memorial services were held Sept. 1 at Powell Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. R.W. Sutton officiating, assisted by the Rev. Felton James and the Rev. Willie Lee Geter.

Survivors include his children, Marcus Antwon, Maria Chrishunn, Maurice DeAngelo; parents, Willie Mae Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Celia) Ware; grandmothers, Ella Mae Meriwether, Edna Mae Paige; sisters, Bonsha Ware, Lavasia Bell, Roshelle Ware; brother, Damon Ware; aunts, Ada Parks, Mr. and Mrs. Garnette (Dorothy) Smith, Jacqueline Meriwether, Doris Brown, Shirley Petty, Portia Ball; uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Calvin (Betty) Sutton, Mr. and Mrs. Alga (Teresa) Meriwether, Mr. and Mrs. Theo (Lynn) Meriwether; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Velethia) Gates, Leroy Gates, Annette, Darius, Demeterius Gates, all of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. Arlonzo (Ruby) Jackson of Englewood, N.J.; nieces; nephews and cousins.

MR. KEITH BARTON

Mr. Keith Barton, 36, died Aug. 24, 1997.

Funeral services will be held Aug. 30 (today) at 1 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.

Survivors include his daughter, Ashley Barton of Uvalda; father, George Barton of Canton; mother, Ginny Adams of Newnan; brother, Russell Barton of Canton; sister, Belinda Arrington of Newnan; nephews, Lee Calhoun, Will Arrington, Taylor Barton; and nieces, Stephanie Barton, Kristine Barton, Elizabeth Arrington, and Melody Arrington.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Coweta County chapter of the American Heart Association.

MISS LURLINE BRYANT

Mrs. Lurline Bryant, 90, of Newnan died Aug. 28, 1997 in Newnan.

Born March 29, 1907 in Luthersville, Mrs. Bryant was the daughter of the late Henry L. McKoon and Helena Gresham (Wyche) McKoon. She was a retired U.S. government civil service office clerk.

Graveside services will be held Aug. 30 (today) at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Hearn officiating.

Survivors include her sisters, Edna Braswell, Louise Burton, both of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. Harold and Inez Miller of East Point; and brother, Mr. and Mrs. James and Lois McKoon of Newnan.

MR. DANNY CARDEN

Mr. Danny Carden, 43, of McDonald Road in Sharpsburg died Aug. 26, 1997 at his home.

Born Dec. 14, 1953 in Spalding County, Mr. Carden was the son of the late Dan and Betty Jane (McKnight) Carden. He was a house painter and a member of the Methodist faith.

Funeral services were held Aug. 28 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Whitlock officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ted Padgett. Interment followed at the Senoia City Cemetery with Clyde Lucus, Jimmy Harris, Kenneth Gable, Steve Dunnigan, Tim McKnight and Charles Eady serving as pallbearers and Stevie Swann serving as an honorary pallbearer.

Survivors include his son, Shane Lackey of Gwinnett County; daughters, Alicia Carden, Stephanie Carden, both of Jonesboro; sister, Mr. and Mrs. Tony (Deborah) Moran of Senoia; and grandmother, Mable Langford of Senoia.

MRS. ANNIE LEE BAILEY DERRING

Mrs. Annie Lee Derring, 61, of Poplar Road in Newnan passed away Aug. 23, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born July 22, 1936 in Fayette County, Mrs. Derring was the daughter of the late Willie Lewis Bailey.

She was a member of Sword of the Lord Church.

Funeral services were held Aug. 28 at Sword of the Lord with brother Randy Hall officiating, assisted by the Rev. Roy Zackery, pastor Gary K. Taylor and Elder Houston. Interment followed at Eastview Cemetery with the Board of Deacons of Sword of the Lord serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her Mattie R. Bailey; children, Mrs. and Mrs. Gary (Angela) Hudson, Mr. and Mrs. Otis (Cynthia) Kendall, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony (Barbara) Wynn, Mr. and Mrs. Neal (Sherry) Hagley, Milton Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Reid James Reid; sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Willie Mae) Tolbert, Mr. and Mrs. Junior (Mattie Vera) Dorsey, Mr. and Mrs. John (Gloria) Neely Hattie P. Hardy; brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Willie H. Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel C. Bailey, Larry Bailey; 17 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

MRS. DOROTHY GRIFFIN EVANS

Mrs. Dorothy Griffin Evans, 62, of Paces Landing Way in Newnan passed away Aug. 22, 1997 at DeKalb County Medical Center.

Born Nov. 29, 1934 in Coweta County, Mrs. Evans was the daughter of the late Emmitt and Mary W. Griffin and the widow of Willie Evans.

Funeral services were held Aug. 27 at Summer Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. J.T. Coleman officiating, assisted by the Rev. A. Stewartson, and the Rev. R. Teagle. Interment followed at the church cemetery with members of the Summerhill Baptist Church Board of Deacons and Trustee Board serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Evans Bailey of Newnan, Dorothy Evans Alexander of Detroit, Mich.; step-children, Willie Evans Jr., Murrell Addie of Decatur; grandsons, William and Dwayne of Detroit; great-grandson, Deshawn of Detroit; son-in-law, Barry Bailey Sr.; sisters, Sarah Walker, Hazel Griffin, Ellen Heath, all of Detroit; brother, Mr. and Mrs. James (Mary) Griffin of Newnan; and aunt, Selina M. Davison of Chattanooga, Tenn.

MR. RICHARD THOMAS GUNNELS

Mr. Richard Thomas Gunnels, 38, of Newnan died Aug. 25m 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Jan. 9, 1959, Mr. Gunnels graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and from Auburn University with a degree in aerospace engineering. He joined the U.S. Air Force and attended flight school, reaching the rank of captain and earning the honor of the Ninth Air Force Top Gun. He was selected as a member of the Gunsmoke Team.

Mr. Gunnels was employed by Delta Air Lines as a first officer. He was a coach with the Coweta County Soccer Association and a member of First United Methodist Church in Newnan, where he served on the Administrative Board, as a Sunday School teacher. He was a past president of the AGAPE Sunday School Class and a member of the United Methodist Men.

Memorial services were held Aug. 28 at First United Methodist Church in Newnan with the Rev. Gary Parrish officiating, assisted by the Rev. Terry Thompkins and the Rev. Jimmy Hood. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife, Melinda Burgin Gunnels of Newnan; daughters, Janet Marie Gunnels, Amanda Jill Gunnels; parents, Lt.-Col. (USAF Ret.) and Mrs. Thomas Gunnels of Shalimar, Fla.; sisters, Mr. and Mrs. David (Susan) Nelson of Naples, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Ron (Margaret) Jacobs of Birmingham, Ala.; and brother, Ray Gunnels of Shalimar.

Memorial contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church in Newnan.

MR. PHILLIP B. HOLTWICK

Mr. Phillip B. Holtwick, 75, of Dallas, Texas died Aug. 26, 1997 in Dallas.

Born Oct. 15, 1921 in Dover, Kan., Mr. Holtwick was the son of the late Charles J. and Mary B. Holtwick. He graduated with degrees from the University of Georgia and George Washington University. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps and as healthcare administrator for Catawba Hospital near Roanoke, Va.

Mr. Holtwick served as a healthcare consultant to the U.S. surgeon general in Saudi Arabia. He later became owner/broker of Century 21 Mark IV Realtors in Dallas.

Funeral services were held Aug. 28 at Restland Wildwood Chapel with the Rev. Ray Hennigh officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Estelle Fleming Holtwick of Dallas, formerly of Newnan; son and daughter-in-law, Cass and Cathyren Holtwick of Dallas; daughter and sons-in-law, Karen and Martin Walsh of Denver, Colo., Suzanne and Paul Jukes of Erie, Penn.; grandchildren, Maxx Holtwick, Martin Walsh, Nathan Walsh, Lindsey Jukes, David Jukes; and sister, Maxine Graves of Overland Park, Kan.
