MRS. EVELYN WADDELL

Mrs. Evelyn Waddell, 78, of Hawthorne Drive in Newnan died Aug. 1, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Oct. 7, 1918 in Newnan, Mrs. Waddell was the daughter of the late James Elbert Wood Sr. and Viola Iown Webb Wood. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Newnan and a retired supervisor at Playtex Corp.

Funeral services were held Aug. 3 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. O. Eugene Tyre officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Larry Cook, Kenneth Cook, Tommy Cook, Glenn Cook, James Wood, Kevin Cook, Chris Cook, Jason Cook and Bill Davis serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John (Sonya) Moore of Newnan; grandson, Michael Moore of Newnan; sisters, Vivian Hunter of Senoia, Corrine Wallace of Newnan; brothers, T.J. Wood of LaGrange, Murlyn Wood of Conyers; nieces and nephews.

MR. HARRY G. WALLER

Mr. Harry G. Waller, 72, of Waverly Circle in Newnan died Aug. 1, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born March 12, 1925 in Luthersville, Mr. Waller was the son of the late Blanchard LaFayette Waller and Mattie (Wiseman) Waller. He was a retired staff manager at Gulf Life Insurance and was a member of the Methodist faith.

Graveside services were held Aug. 3 at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville with the Rev. Bill Dean officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Taylor Waller of Newnan; daughter, Pat Waller Collier of Flowery Branch; son, Greg Waller of Newnan; grandson, John Taylor Collier of Flowery Branch; and brother William Howard Waller of Luthersville.

MRS. AGNES FLUELLEN ANDERSON

Mrs. Agnes Fluellen Anderson, 48, of Newnan passed away July 26, 1997 at Hospice LaGrange in LaGrange.

Born Dec. 22, 1948 in Coweta County, Mrs. Anderson was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Corinth.

Funeral services were held July 31, 1997 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. J.C. Strickland officiating, assisted by the Rev. Gary Johnson, the Rev. J.L. Hendrick and the Rev. J.W. Russell Jr. Interment followed at the church cemetery with Mark Fluellen, Louis Richardson, Pete Richardson, William Griffin, William Martin and Melvin Vinson officiating.

Survivors include her children, Randy, Nicole, Roosevelt; daughter-in-law, Ve'va Anderson; grandchildren, Asia Anderson, Devin Anderson; sisters, the Rev. and Mrs. Gary (Marie) Johnson, Mae Thelma Richardson; brothers, William Fluellen, Samuel Fluellen; aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie (Hazel) Geter, Hilda Turner, Willie Potts, Helen Potts; and uncles, Charles Potts and Albert Potts.

MR. WILBUR CARL HAYES

Mr. Wilbur Carl Hayes, 84, of Paducah, Kent. and formerly of Grantville died July 29, 1997 in Paducah.

Born Jan. 1, 1913 in Senoia, Mrs. Hayes was the daughter of the late Venton W. Hayes and Clara Jordon Hayes. She was a member of Grantville First Baptist Church and a retired lead packer at General Mills.

Funeral services were held Aug. 1 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. D.L. Moody officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Tommy Campbell, Gary Hayes, John Hayes, Ricky Slaton, Michael Thacker and David Thacker serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughters, Frances Campbell of Paducah, Mary Carsey of Athens, Ohio, Becky Hayes of Independence, Mo., Nellie Jo Thacker of Newnan; sons, Carl Hayes of Independence, Wilbur Hayes Jr., Jerry Hayes and Larry Hayes, all of Newnan; brother, Roy Hayes of Devore, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

MRS. MAMIE LOU JACKSON

Mrs. Mamie Lou Jackson, 86, of Millard Farmer Road in Newnan died July 28, 1997 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born Jan. 2, 1911 in Fairburn, Mrs. Jackson was the daughter of the late William David Jackson and Mary Elender (Teague) Jackson and the widow of Oliver Austin Jackson. She was a member of Mills Chapel Baptist Church and a retired textile worker.

Funeral services were held July 31 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Dean officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bob Daugherty. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Harley Long, James Ferrell, David Jackson, Vince Nunn, Byron Hinesley and Douglas Jackson serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd (Lunelle) Nunn, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis (Mary Ella) Chapman, all of Newnan; son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis (Mina) Jackson of National City, Calif.; brother in law, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn (Ruth) Jackson of Decatur; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and and one great-great-grandchildren.

MRS. MARSHA E. McKELPHIN

Mrs. Marsha E. McKelphin, 34, of Stonehaven Drive in Newnan passed away July 28, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born July 22, 1963 in Vicksburg, Miss., Mrs. McKelphin was employed by West Paces Ferry Hospital and office manager of Doctor's Place. She was the wife of John McKelphin.

Funeral services and burial will be held in Vicksburg.

MR. W.A. (BILL) ROQUEMORE

Mr. W.A. (Bill) Roquemore, 73, of Lakeland, Ga. died July 29, 1997 at his home.

Born Dec. 21, 1923 in Macon, Mr. Roquemore was board chairman emeritus of Patten Seed Company in Lakeland and the operator of seven golf courses on the south side of Atlanta.

Mr. Roquemore attended North Georgia College and enlisted in the Army Air Corps after Pearl Harbor. At 19, he was first pilot and crew member on a Martin B-26 bomber and flew a B-26 to Europe a year later to join a bombardment group.

At 21, Mr. Roquemore was a captain with 54 missions. He later received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with nine oak leaf clusters and five battle stars.

Mr. Roquemore led the group formation of between 36 and 54 bombers in the 387th Group, which after World War Two was declared to have the best record for accuracy out of more than 100 American bomber groups.

He continued flying as a pilot in the Air Force Reserves, quitting as a lieutenant.

After a short newspaper career as editor of the Lanier County News, Mr. Roquemore went into business with his father-in-law, Lawson Patten, who owned and operated a small see cleaning plant.

From that beginning, he built a turfgrass sod and seed and golf business with operations in several states and worldwide sales.

Mr. Roquemore served as mayor of Lakeland from 1955-57 and as chairman of the Lanier County Development Authority.

Funeral services were held July 31 at First Baptist Church in Lakeland with the Rev. Jimmy Gunter and the Rev. Bob Pierce officiating. Serving as pallbearers were W.A. "Bill" Roquemore III, Christopher Roquemore, Jay Roquemore, Bucky Roquemore, Hogan Roquemore, Willie B. Chason, Ben Copeland and Wendell Godbee.

Survivors include his wife, Nell Patten Roquemore; sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. (Pam) Roquemore Jr., Mr. and Mrs. John P. (Barbara) Roquemore, Mr. and Mrs. James W. (Karen) Roquemore, Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. (Jan) Roquemore; daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff (Lee) Burton; brother, John Roquemore; and 11 grandchildren.

MRS. OPAL LESTER TOMPKINS

Mrs. Opal Lester Tompkins, 80, of Lovelace Street in Newnan passed away July 26, 1997 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born Aug. 15, 1916 in Coweta County, Mrs. Tompkins attended Wesley Chapel Church School and graduated from Ft. Valley State College. She taught in the Coweta County School System for 33 years.

A member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, she served as superintendent of Sunday school, president of the chancellor choir, program chairperson and chairperson of the Council on Ministries.

Funeral services were held July 29, 1997 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. J.C. Neal officiating, assisted by Dr. Frank Lewis, the Rev. R.W. Sutton and the Rev. Larry Barner. Interment followed at Sunset Cemetery with the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Men serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughters, Gracie Cannon, Marionette King; son-in-law, Jerome King; grandchildren, Marquis Cannon, Kioka Cannon, Moira King, Kendale King; great-grandchild, Amber Render; sister, Grethel Lovelace; and sisters-in-law, Lydia T. Godfrey, Fannye T. Watson and Clara T. Greer.

MR. FRANKLIN 'DINK' BUNN

Mr. Franklin "Dink" Bunn, 59, of Fairburn died July 24, 1997.

Mr. Bunn was a veteran of the Korean conflict and the owner of Palmetto 66 Garage.

Funeral services were held July 27 at David-Streumpf Funeral Home with the Rev. Mack Lively and Joanie Waits officiating. Interment followed at Mozley Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Taylor Bunn; daughter, Sherry Mote of Fairburn; brothers, Tamladge Bunn of Palmetto, Bernard Bunn of Union City, William Roger Bunn of Illinois, Sam Bunn of Forest Park; and sisters, Mattie Cochran of Fayetteville, Mary Bell Smith of Stockbridge and Betty Campbell of Morrow.

MR. HUGH E. DeLOACH

Mr. Hugh E. DeLoach, 76, of Warner Robins died July 25, 1997 at his home.

Born March 22, 1921 in Dothan, Ala., Mr. DeLoach was the son of the late Mae Whitehurst DeLoach and Ocie Lee DeLoach. He was a retired aircraft mechanic from Robins Air Force Base and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War Two.

Graveside services were held July 26 at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville with Dr. Jimmy Brown officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Davis DeLoach of Warner Robins; sons, Hugh E. DeLoach Jr., William DeLoach, both of Warner Robins, Jesse Lee DeLoach of Lone Oak; sisters, Evelyn Haines of Jonesboro, Iris Roberson DeLoach of Kansas City; brother, Jack DeLoach of Warner Robins; and three grandchildren.

MR. THOMAS DOYLE GOODROE

Mr. Thomas Doyle Goodroe, 80, of Franklin Road in Newnan died July 21, 1997 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.

Born Nov. 19, 1916 in Newnan, Mr. Goodroe was the son of the late Joseph Thomas Goodroe and Izzie (Roberts) Goodroe. He was a member of Westview Christian Church and a U.S. Army veteran.

Funeral services will be held July 23 (today) at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home with Tony Sullivan officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Goodroe of Newnan; sisters, Sadie Eidson, Letha Goodroe, both of Newnan, Barbara Mashburn of Columbus; and a brother, Maurice Goodroe of Mobile, Ala.
