MRS. SHERRIE ANN HAYNES

Mrs. Sherrie Ann Haynes, 23, of Newnan died July 22, 1997 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born Dec. 16, 1973 in Coweta County, Mrs. Haynes was a homemaker and a member of Primrose Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held July 25 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Ball officiating. Interment followed at Sharpsburg Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Christopher Kevin Haynes; son, Christopher Daniel Haynes; father, Dennis A. Lee of Newnan; mother, Marilyn Millians of Newnan; sister, Tammie Marie Lee of Sharpsburg; brothers, Jody Allan Lee of Jonesboro, Christopher Timothy Lee of Grantville; grandparents, Charles and Geraldine Hogan of Union City, Ruby R. Lee of Newnan.

MR. NATHANIEL HERNDON

Mr. Nathaniel "Nath" Herndon, 71, of Mary Jane Road in Newnan passed away July 19, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Oct. 25, 1925 in Coweta County, Mrs. Herndon was a member of Rocky Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Luthersville. He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Amey.

Funeral services were held July 24 at Rocky Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. J.T. Coleman officiating, assisted by the Rev. C. David, the Rev. R.L. Teagle and the Rev. J.W. Russell Jr. Interment followed at Clark Chapel-New Mt. Bethel Cemetery with his grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his daughters, the Rev. and Mrs. Charlie (Georgia Mae) Teagle, Lucy Ann Herndon, Mr. and Mrs. C.L. (Dangrean) Smith, Mary Louise Sinkfield; sons, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph (Mary Ruth) Amey, Joel Nathaniel Herndon, Bobby Herndon; sisters, Mary Jane Teagle, Henrietta Gates, Mr. and Mrs. Willie (Easter Mae) Teagle, Julia Robinson, the Rev. and Mrs. Earlie (Maeonia) Maddox, Sara F. Herndon; brothers, Robert L. Derring, Willie Henry Herndon; 45 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

MRS. SIGNE TURNQUIST PATTERSON

Mrs. Signe Turnquist Patterson, 96, of Franklin died July 23, 1997 in Newnan.

Born Dec. 30, 1900 in Two Harbors, Mich., Mrs. Patterson was the daughter of the late Louis and Johanna Janssen Turnquist and the widow of Phil Patterson. She was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Berg, Elna Lafferty, Edith Method, Mildred O'Grady, Alice Turnquist and brothers, Warner Turnquist and Roland Turnquist.

Funeral services will be held July 26 (today) at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home with Tony Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow later at Lakeview Cemetery in Two Harbors.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Dale Fjeran of Franklin; grandchildren, Scott Pearson of Springfield, Va., Mark Pearson of Chicago, Ill., Barbara Starkey of Crystal River, Fla., great-grandchildren, Kerri Boettcher, Patricia Pearson, Mike Pearson, Dan Starkey, Ryan Starkey, Mary Starkey; great-great-grandson, Robbie Boettcher; step-great-grandchildren, Joshua Casey, Jonathan Casey, Joanna Casey, Heather Fjeran, Olivia Fjeran and nieces.

MRS. FANNIE LEE SEWELL

Mrs. Fannie Lee Sewell, 84, of Alexander City, Ala., formerly of Newnan, died July 23, 1997 at Chapman's Nursing Home in Alexander City.

Born Aug. 24, 1913 in Carroll County, Mrs. Sewell was a member of Unity Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Funeral services will be held July 26 (today) at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Milton Sewell of Alexander City; sons, Howard Sewell of Alexander City, Richard Sewell of Hayesville, N.C.; sister, Johnnie Mae Wojtowicz of Marietta; grandsons, James Sewell, Howard Sewell Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jacob Howard Sewell, Preston Sewell and Megan Sewell.

Mrs. Opal Sprayberry of Roscoe died July 24, 1997 at Southwest Christian Hospice. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by McKoon Funeral Home.

Mrs. Patricia Tate, 73, of Jasper, Tenn. died July 22, 1997 in Newnan.

Mrs. Tate was the daughter of the late Newt and Agnes Davis Thompson and the widow of James E. Tate. She was preceded in death by brothers, Eual Thompson and Cecil Thompson.

Funeral services were held July 24 at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Webb officiating. Interment followed at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper.

Survivors include her sisters, Burma Winkles, Hazel meadows, Syble Burns of Newnan, Faye Morris of Bremen; brothers, Wendall Thompson, Roger Thompson of Newnan, Billy Thompson of Sequatchie; nieces and nephews.

MR. ROOSEVELT TEAGLE

Mr. Roosevelt Teagle, 81, of Duluth passed away July 21, 1997 at his home.

Born Dec. 15, 1915 in Coweta County, Mr. Teagle was a member of King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, Kent. and was a member of the Blanton House Singers.

Mr. Teagle attended Newnan public schools and was retired from the state Employment Office in Louisville.

Funeral services will be held July 26 (today) at 1 p.m. at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. R.W. Sutton and the Rev. Charles Elliott officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery with his grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, James and Rosetta Garnett of Atlanta; daughter, Robin Teagle of Louisville; sons, Robert Pendleton, Preston, Ronnie, Maurice Teagle of Louisville, Willie Teagle of Chicago, Ill.; sister and brother-in-law, the Rev. Costella and Lula Bell Gray of Louisville; brother and sister-in-law, Lemmie and Catherine Teagle; sisters-in-law, Ruth, Florine, Frances Teagle of Newnan, Alice Teagle of Louisville; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Born Oct. 31, 1911 in Coweta County, Mr. Whatley was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Moreland.

Funeral services were held July 23 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with elder Ray McWilliams officiating, assisted by the Rev. L.W. Booker, the Rev. Charles Smith, the Rev. Larry Warner and the Rev. J.T. Coleman. Interment followed at the church cemetery with her his nephews serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his sisters, Oza McWilliams, Josephine Rush of Newnan; nephew, the Rev. W.R. (Martha Nell) Zachary of Newnan; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Thomas Doyle Goodroe, 80, of Franklin Road in Newnan died July 21, 1997 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.

Born Nov. 19, 1916 in Newnan, Mr. Goodroe was the son of the late Joseph Thomas Goodroe and Izzie (Roberts) Goodroe. He was a member of Westview Christian Church and a U.S. Army veteran.

Funeral services will be held July 23 (today) at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home with Tony Sullivan officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Goodroe of Newnan; sisters, Sadie Eidson, Letha Goodroe, both of Newnan, Barbara Mashburn; and a sister, Maurice Goodroe of Mobile, Ala.

Mr. Charles "Sonny" Malphus Sr., 54, of Oak Court in Newnan died July 20, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Oct. 28, 1942 in Tampa, Fla., Mr. Malphus was the son of the late Cheatham Charles Malphus and Katherine Stephens Malphus. He was a member of First Assembly of God and a car salesman at Gentry Motor Co.

Funeral services were held July 22 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. M. Gloria Gilstrap officiating, assisted by the Rev. B.J. Tyner. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with Brent Billitteri, Chris Allen, Oliver Gentry III, John Scott, J.R. Scott and Scott Ballenger serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Malphus of Newnan; children, Stephanie L. Smith, Charles Stephen Malphus Jr., Tiffany N. Malphus, Meghan D. Malphus, Brittany D. Malphus, all of Newnan; sisters, M. Gloria Gilstrap of Gainesville, Claudia K. Nix of Newnan; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Ruby Lois Ozmore, 83, died July 10, 1997 at her home.

Born Nov. 21, 1913 in Newnan, Mrs. Ozmore was the daughter of the late Henry and Cora (Kent) Quick. She was a member of Lovejoy Methodist Church and a seamstress.

Graveside services were held July 21 at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Crenshaw officiating.

Survivors include her daughter, Maureen Ozmore of Decatur; sons, Edward Ozmore, Durand Ozmore, both of Newnan; and a sister, Christine Beckom of Newnan.

MRS. PEGGY LARKIN SAUCIER

Mrs. Peggy Larkin Saucier, 69, of Hogansville died July 19, 1997 at the Florence Hand Home in LaGrange.

Born Aug. 22, 1927 in Sumrall Miss., Mrs. Saucier was the daughter of the late William and Ruby Conerly Larkin and the widow of Forrest E. (Buck) Saucier. She was a retired payroll clerk for the Dixie Division of West Point Pepperell Company in LaGrange.

A member of First United Methodist Church of Hogansville, she was a volunteer at at Hogansville Child Care Center.

Funeral services were held July 21 at First United Methodist Church of Hogansville with the Rev. Charles Ritter. Interment followed at Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery in the Lone Oak community with David Gill, James Still, J.C. Daniel, Bill Arnold, Dennis Bruggeman and Jeb Howington serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Shea and Doug Williams of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; sons and daughter-in-law, Steve and Loretta Saucier of Lone Oak, Keith Saucier of Hogansville; sisters, Golda Still of Austell, Betty Smith of Clayton, Kay Kelley of Metarie, La.; and granddaughters, Amanda Anne Williams of Signal Mountain, Rachel Anne Saucier, Sarah Kay Saucier, both of Lone Oak.
