MRS. RUBY HALL

Mrs. Ruby Hall, 68, of Grantville died April 6, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Jan. 1, 1929 in Coweta County, Mr. Hall was the daughter of the late Joe Wheeler Boswell and Hattie Gray Boswell and the widow of James W. Hall Jr. She was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held April 8 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. David Arrington officiating. Interment followed at Southview Cemetery in Moreland with Timothy Hall, Randy Hall, Jeff Hall, Greg Hall, John Hall and George Woodell serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her sons, David Hall, Robert Hall, Andrew Hall, all of Grantville; four sisters, Ellen Mason of Calhoun, Nell Justiss of Newnan, Jody Haynes of Douglasville, Nancy McAlister of Anderson, S.C.; brothers, George A. Boswell, Bobby Boswell, both of Calhoun, Leroy Boswell of Powder Springs, Harry Boswell of Newnan; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

MR. CLIFFORD FRED "C.F." HARRIS

Mr. Clifford Fred "C.F." Harris of Russell Circle in Newnan passed away April 1, 1997 at St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta.

Born June 8, 1943 in Newnan, Mrs. Harris was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. (Elizabeth) Harris. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church, where he served on the usher board.

Funeral services were held April 5 at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. John Farmer officiating, assisted by the Rev. J.T. Coleman and other ministers.

Interment followed at Sunset Cemetery with Walter Reid, Marvin Reid, Anthony Reid, Juan Curtis Redwine, James Henry and Curtis Jenkins serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his brother, Thomas E. Harris Jr. of Newnan; sister, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin (Rosa) Reid of Atlanta; nieces, Vanessa Redwine Harris, Sabrina Redwine Henry; nephews, Juan Curtis Redwine, Walter Reid, Marvin Redi, Anthony Reid; nine great-nephews and three great-nieces.

MRS. HELEN SAYERS KELLY

Mrs. Helen Sayers Kelly, 88, of Sandy Springs, formerly of Newnan, died April 6, 1997.

Born Nov. 23, 1908 in New York, N.Y., Mrs. Kelly was the widow of Daniel A. Kelly and a graduate of Randolph Macon College in Lynchburg, Va., where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta fraternity.

After a career in fashion merchandising with Macy's in New York, she moved to Newnan and bought Kersey's Inc. a women's specialty shop which she ran from 1954 to the early 1980s. She was a member of the Newnan Pilot Club and St. George's Womens Auxiliary and volunteered at Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Funeral services were held April 8 at St. George Catholic Church in Newnan with Monsignor Daniel O'Conner and Father Leo Herbert officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Ann McKinley of Atlanta; sons, Larry Kelly, Buddy Kelly, both of Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Marjorie Sayers Redmond of Mineral Point, Wisc.; and grandchildren, Michael McKinley, Matthew McKinley, Meg McKinley, Courtney Kelly, Jenny Kelly, Ashley Kelly, Kimberly Kelly and Morgan Kelly.

MRS. MATTIE PEARL KENDRICK

Mrs. Mattie Pearl Kendrick, 79, of Stone Mountain passed away April 7, 1997 at Atlanta Hospice.

Born Sept. 30, 1917 in Coweta County, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd Hill. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Moreland and was later a member of Universal Life Church in Atlanta and a member of the Eastern Star. She was married to Charlie Kendrick.

Funeral services were held April 5 at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Hill officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Moreland with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Williams of Stone Mountain, Annie Walton of New York; step-daughter, Margaret Kendrick; son-in-law, Isaac Walton; sister, Minnie Evelyn Hill of Newnan; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

MRS. SALLIE FANNIE MORROW

Mrs. Sallie Fannie Morrow, 89, of Newnan died April 2, 1997 at Peach County Hospital.

Born Dec. 30, 1997 in Franklin, Mrs. Morrow was the daughter of the late Glenn and Dice (Phillips) McKenzie and the widow of Harvey Morrow. She was a member of the Baptist faith and a retired textile worker.

Mrs. Morrow was preceded in death by children, George Morrow, Willie Frances Robards and Harvey Morrow.

Funeral services were held April 5 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike White officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Glenn McKenzie, Marvin McKenzie, Larry McKenzie, Doyle McKenzie, Frank McKenzie and Deck McKenzie serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughter, Sara Hopson of Newnan; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

MR. HESTER JAMES PARHAM

Mr. Hester James Parham, 85, of Sewell Mill Road in Newnan died April 4, 1997 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Atlanta.

Born Sept. 25, 1911 in Temple, Mr. Parham was the son of the late Leonard Cornelius Parham and Ada (McRae) Parham. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Annie Phillips, Lester Parham, Duval Parham and Curtis Parham.

Mr. Parham was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and a retired assistant superintendent at Southern Mills.

Funeral services were held April 7 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Searcy Jackson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Travis Eidson. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the deacons of Macedonia Baptist Church serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Annie (Sewell) Parham of Newnan; son, Mr. and Mrs. Gary (Libby) Parham of Newnan; a sister, Mable Pitts of Smithville, N.C.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

MR. J. MARION ROBERTS

Mr. J. Marion Roberts, 92, of LaGrange died April 4, 1997 at West Georgia Medical Center.

A native of Cedartown, Mr. Roberts was the son of the late Daniel Lowther and Estelle Russell Roberts. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Arnall Roberts and a son, Arnall Roberts.

Roberts was a 1927 graduate of Mercer University in Macon and later served on the school's board of trustees.

He was a teacher, football coach and basketball coach at LaGrange High School from 1929-36 and was a retired agent with Equitable Life Insurance Company.

Mr. Roberts was a member and former deacon of First Baptist Church of LaGrange. His civic activities included work with the Boy Scouts of America, for which he received the Silver Beaver Award.

He was a member and former president of the LaGrange Lions Club, serving as a district governor. Mr. Roberts was a former disaster chairman of for the Troup County chapter of the American Red Cross.

Funeral services were held April 7 at First Baptist Church of LaGrange with the Rev. Richard Shiver, the Rev. Weston Alford and the Rev. Albert T. Turnell officiating. Interment followed at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Vann and Jan Hall Roberts of Dalton; granddaughters, Katherine Roberts, Sara-Kate Roberts, both of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Frances Roberts of Los Gatos, Calif.; sister-in-law, Mrs. C.A. Moody of Newnan; nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of LaGrange, Mercer University or LaGrange College.

Mr. Donald Romell Scott, 43, of Atlanta passed away April 5, 1997 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Sellers-Smith Funeral Home.

MS. WILLIE NEILL

Mrs. Willie Neill, 82, of Atlanta and formerly of Newnan died April 2, 1997 at Wesley Woods of Atlanta.

Born April 28, 1914 in Newnan, Ms. Neill was the daughter of the late Leonard P. Neill and Lily Bradley. She was a member of Briarcliff United Methodist Church and was retired from Arnall Mills.

Graveside services will be held April 5 at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

Survivors include her nieces, Mary Neill Lester of Atlanta, Teresa Neill Marshall of Panama City, Fla.; and nephew, Bradley J. Neill of Ft. Carson, Colo.

Memorial contributions can be made to Newnan First United Methodist Church, 33 Greenville St., Newnan, Ga., 30263.

MR. JOHN T. THOMPSON JR.

Mr. John T. Thompson Jr., 72, of LaGrange died March 31, 1997 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

Born April 8, 1924 in Chambers County, Ala., Mr. Thompson was the son of the late John Thompson Sr. and Rosa Tucker Thompson. He was a member of United Congregational Christian Church in LaGrange and was retired from Milliken Company.

Graveside services were held April 2 at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange with the Rev. Robert J. Dodds officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Thompson of LaGrange; son and daughter-in-law, Roger A. and Patricia Thompson of Newnan; granddaughters, Allison Lee Thompson, Meredith Dee Thompson, both of Newnan; sister, Merlene Tucker of Newnan; and nieces, Philene T. Robinson of Newnan and Charlene T. Pearson of Columbus.
