MR. GLENN THOMAS "TOMMY" FAULKNER SR.

Mr. Glenn Thomas "Tommy" Faulkner Sr., 69, of Gordy Place in Newnan died March 14, 1997 at Piedmont Hospital.

Born Aug. 3, 1927 in Coweta County, Mr. Faulkner was the son of the late Daniel Jefferson Faulkner and Irene (Prickett) Faulkner. He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Thomas Faulkner Jr.

Mr. Faulkner was a member of First Baptist Church and BPOE and was a retired manager for Independent Insurance Co.

Graveside services were held March 16 at at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with Dr. Gene Tyre officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were Fred Morgan, Donald Spradlin, Clinton Burks, Steve Butler, Glenn Bexley and John Simmons. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Kuehl, Carlton Ingram, Charles Barrett, Bill Jackson and Dale Spradlin.

Survivors include his wife, Mary (Gill) Faulkner of Newnan; sons, Jeff Faulkner of Lilburn, Al Faulkner of Newnan; daughter, Mary Jane Thompson of Haralson; sister, Madelyn Luckett of Franklin, Tenn.; and brother, Dr. William A. Faulkner of Rome.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.

MR. TYRE EUGENE HARRIS

Mr. Tyre Eugene Harris, 87, of Jacksonville, Fla. died March 15, 1997.

Born Aug. 21, 1909 in Barney, Ga., Mr. Harris was the son of the late Tyre E. Harris and Myrtice Hunter Harris.

Mr. Harris served in the U.S. Navy from 1927 until 1957. His duty stations and assigned vessels included the USS Wright, Sandpiper, MGP Dahlgren, USS Saratoga, USNAS Pearl Harbor, USNAS Pensacola, USS Ranger, USS Wasp, USNAS Coco Solo Canal Zone, USNAS San Diego, Calif., Nattc Chicago, USS St. Louis and USS Jacksonville.

During World War II, Mr. Harris was assigned to the Pacific Fleet as a machinist mate and flight deck attendant.

Graveside services were held March 17 at Senoia City Cemetery with the Rev. Carol Cook officiating.

Survivors include his son, Tyre E. Harris; daughter, Myrtice Harris Craig of Jacksonville, Fla.; and grandchildren, Raina Dale, Daphne Craig and Mark Craig.

MR. HORACE R. HEGGOOD

Mr. Horace R. Heggood, 51, of Cedar Court in Newnan died March 11, 1997 at St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta.

Born April 27, 1945 in Spaulding County, Mr. Heggood was the son of the late Horace and Lena Bell Gaddy Heggood. He was a member of Mills Chapel Baptist Church and worked at the Kmart warehouse.

Funeral services were held March 13 at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Allan Mathura officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Heggood of Newnan; sons, David and Casey Heggood of Senoia, Horace and Clara Heggood of Newnan, Michael Heggood of Newnan; daughter, Angie and Rick Moreland of Franklin; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

MRS. BARBARA ANN MAYNARD

Mrs. Barbara Ann Maynard of Cumming died March 12, 1997.

Funeral services were held March 15 at Ingram Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Robinson officiating. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Maynard of Cumming; children, James "Butch" Maynard of Dawsonville, Tony and Karen Maynard of Cumming, Suzanne and Kirk Goodman of Newnan; grandchildren, Chad Goodman, Erin Goodman; sister, Mary Frances "Pug" Grady of Decatur; and mother-in-law, Anita Maynard of Covington.

MR. JAMES ARTHUR "BUCKSHOT" MUNSON

Mr. James Arthur "Buckshot" Munson, 57, of J.D. Walton Road in Newnan died March 13 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Munson was an auto mechanic and operated his own shop.

Funeral services were held March 15 at the Loranie Assembly of God Church in Stockbridge with the Rev. Charles Moody officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.

Survivors include his mother, Leora Munson of Stockbridge; son, James Donald Munson of Newnan; daughters, Shirley Spradlin, Brenda Munson, both of Newnan, Lynda Baldwin of Hogansville; brothers, Claude Munson of Mountain City, Junior Munson of Covington, Leroy Munson of Stockbridge, Charles Munson of Conyers; sisters, Margie Bledsoe of Zebulon, Barbara Landrum of Dawsonville, Betty Agee of Covington; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

MRS. MATTIE KATE SMITH

Mrs. Mattie Kate Smith of Pinson Street in Newnan passed away March 15, 1997 at Newnan Hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home.

MR. WILLIE ROY TEAGLE

Mr. Willie Roy Teagle, 76, formerly of Newnan, passed away March 12, 1997 in Louisville, Kent.

Born Feb. 12, 1921 in Newnan, Mr. Teagle was a member of Jones Chapel Methodist Church in Newnan and later joined First Virginia Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was retired from Southern Railroad Company.

Funeral services were held March 17 at Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home with the Rev. R.W. Sutton and the Rev. L.W. Booker officiating. Interment followed at Jones Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery with family friends serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Mae Howard Teagle; daughters, Lenora Teagle and Melanie D. Robards; son-in-law, James Andre Robards; sister, Lula Grey; brother-in-law, the Rev. Costella Grey; brothers, Roosevelt Teagle of Louisville, Lemmie L. Teagle of Newnan; sisters-in-law, Catherine Teagle, Frances Teagle, Ruth Teagle, Florine Teagle; aunt, Lizzie Watts; grandchildren, Ricky and Chanice; nieces and nephews.

MRS. LUCY KATHERINE WHITE

Mrs. Lucy Katherine White, 86, of Newnan died March 15, 1997 at Newnan Hospital.

Born March 28, 1910 in Newnan, Mrs. White was the daughter of the late Robert Houston Ware and Julia Valania (Davis) Ware and the widow of Frank M. White Sr. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Newnan and a former member of Cascade Methodist Church.

A homemaker, Mrs. White volunteered with the PTA, cub scouts and girl scouts.

Funeral services were held March 17 at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Parrish officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Zeke Fanning, George Jarrard, Col. Deke Deakin, Clinton Burks, Hugh Farmer, Pope Jones and Frank Bridges serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn W. Schuett of Newnan; son, Frank M. White Jr. of Newnan; grandchildren, Asa Franklin Johnson, Lisa Johnson Jarrard; great-grandchildren, Davis Britton Johnson, Matthews Grady Jarrard, Cole Hardin Johnson; nephew, Robert R. Paris; and nieces, Julia Paris and Francis Paris Barker.

Memorial contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church of Newnan.

Mr. William Yates 'Tic" Atkinson III

Mr. William Yates "Tic" Atkinson III, 85, of Newnan died Sept. 28, 1997, at Newnan Hospital.

Born Sept. 9, 1912 in Coweta County, Mr. Atkinson was the son of the late William Y. Atkinson Jr., who served on the Georgia Supreme Court for many years, and Lourette Simms Atkinson. Mr. Atkinson was the grandson of former Georgia Gov. William Yates Atkinson and Susie Cobb Milton Atkinson.

A member of First Baptist Church, Mr. Atkinson was a graduate of Newnan High School and the University of Georgia Law School. An attorney, he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Graveside services will be held held Oct. 2 (today) at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Dr. Eugene Tyre and the Rev. Don Helms officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Margurite Atkinson of Newnan; children, Margaret Susan Scheer, William Y. Atkinson IV, both of Atlanta, Romelle Atkinson Duncan, James C. Atkinson of Newnan; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Foundation or First Baptist Church of Newnan.

Mr. Eddie Lamar Freeland

Mr. Eddie Lamar Freeland, 65, of Country Club Road in Newnan passed away Sept. 28, 1997, at Southern Regional Medical Center in Atlanta.

Born March 3, 1932 in Coweta County, Mr. Freeland was a member of St. John Baptist Church and was retired from Georgia Power Company.

Funeral services were held Oct. 1 at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. J.W. Russell Sr. officiating, assisted by the Rev. John Farmer, the Rev. R.W. Sutton and the Rev. Toney Mosley. Interment followed at the church cemetery with Georgia Power employees serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include his mother, Pauline Freeland; wife, Fannie Freeland; sons, Lonnie Freeland, Ezzard Charles Freeland, Tony Freeland, Ronald Smith of Newnan and Rodney Smith of Atlanta; daughter, Annie Rochelle Higgs of Decatur; brothers, Johnny Freeland of Atlanta, Nathaniel Freeland of Chicago; sisters, Wylene Jackson, Jeanette Crossland of Atlanta; aunts, Dora Herring, Clyde Sinkfield; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lena Hall

Mrs. Lena Hall, 78, of Georgia Highway 154 in Newnan passed away Sept. 25, 1997, at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born May 14, 1919 in Coweta County, Mrs. Hall attended Macedonia School in Coweta County and was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Roscoe.

Funeral services were held Sept. 29 at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. R.W. Sutton officiating, assisted by the Rev. E.J. Best, the Rev. Robert Melson and the Rev. H.W. Creecy Jr. Interment followed at Eastview Cemetery with Larry Black, Robert Bohannon, Harold Dix, Sonny Dix, Charlie Glenn, James Hall, James Merritt, Melvin Spearman and Chris Thomas Jr. serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughters, Claudia Mae Berry and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie (Sheila) Johnson Jr., all of Newnan; son, Walter Powell of Newnan; grandchildren, Martha Denise Powell of West Palm Beach, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. James (Sandy) Merritt, Natasha Huggins, Nathan Johnson, all of Newnan; great-grandchildren, Randy Lee Tolbert, Nakela Berry, Shequenda Merritt, Jamesha Merritt, James Merritt Jr., Pyllicia Thomas; nieces and nephews.
