Tommy Joe Boyd

Tommy Joe Boyd, age 62, of Bethlehem died November 5, 2006.

Born in Kentucky, he was the son of the late Green and Violet Boyd of Kentucky. He died after a courageous fight with lung cancer, he was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church of Monroe, GA.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Smith Memory Chapel in Winder, GA.

The Rev. Roy Turk officiated and interment followed in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

He was married to his wife Gaylee Boyd of Bethlehem for 26 years.

He is survived by: Daughters: Sarah Harper of Bethlehem, Emily and Daniel Meeks of Winder, and Kelli Boyd of Winder.

Grandchildren: David & Kayleigh Harper & Kaden Meeks, the light of his life.

Sisters: Barbara Collier of Estil, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews that will miss him very much.

Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Mary’s Hospice, P.O. Box 6588 Athens, GA 30604.

Smith Funeral Home of Winder Georgia was in charge of arrangements.

Ree O'Kelley Brooks

Ree O’ Kelly Brooks, 93, of Monroe died October 22, 2006.

A native of Walton County, she was a daughter of he late Joseph A. O’Kelley and Mattie Churchill O’kelley. She was married to the late Dave Glass, the late Hulon Davis and the late James Brooks. She retired from Oxford Mfg., was a former Pink Lady with the hospital auxiliary and a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held October 24, 2006 in the chapel of Arthur Bowick Funeral Home.

The Rev. Chris Conner officiated and interment was in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Scott Sullivan, Leslie Croft, Ernest Lovern, Mark Malcom, Wayne Brown and Larry Childs.

She is survived by step-children: Carol Norris of Johnson City, TN., Darryl Brooks of Fayetteville, Evelyn Havel of TN, Frances Queen of Monroe, Sara Hannay of Athens, and Marshall Glass of Loganville; sisters: Bernice Mangam of Griffin, Mary Sue Davis of McDonough and Margaret Henson of Monroe; brothers: J.T. (Grace) O’Kelley and Gene (Iris) O’Kelley of Monroe, Donald (Sue) O’Kelley of Loganville and Lamar (Jean) O’Kelley both of Monroe, Donald (Sue) O’Kelley of Loganville and Lamar (Jean) O’Kelley of Bethlehem; nieces and nephews.

Arthur Bowick, Inc. Funeral Directors were in charge of the arrangements.

Willie J. Fulcher

Willie J. Fulcher, 78 of Madison, died on Nov. 7, 2006. He was born in Jackson County on May 2, 1928 to the late William Fulcher and the late Carrie Garrett Fulcher.

He was married to his wife: Willie Mae Fulcher for 59 years. He preceded in death by his son: the late Jerry William Fulcher.

Surviving are: wife: Willie Mae Fulcher, Madison; children: Jr. Fulcher, Covington, Elaine and Mike Prowell, Rutledge, Sheryl and Vance Greeson, Rutledge, Jimmy and Delores Fulcher, Cumming, Mike and Sheila Fulcher, Monroe, Robin Fulcher, Cumming and Sissy McDowell, Madison; 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home. Intermment followed at Social Circle City Cemetery.

Meadows Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.

Annette C. Long

Annette C. Long, 94, of Monroe died November 2, 2006.

A native and life long resident of Walton County, she was a daughter of the late Reubin and Amelia Stephens Cooper. The widow of Jeff Harold Long, she had worked for Carwood Mfg. Co. and retired from Kuppenheimer Corp. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held November 5, 2006 in New Hope United Methodist Church. The Rev. Chris Laskey, The Rev. Lynn Head and The Elder Ronnie Loudermilk officiated and interment was in the church cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Carolyn and Charles Autry of Oxford, Rebecca and Snooky Wright of Monroe, Dianne and Dewey Mathis and Kaye and Randall Allgood both of Jersey; sons and daughters-in-law: Jack and Ida Long of Scottsdale AZ and Jerry and Bessie Long of Greenville, SC.; brother and sister-in-law: Ray and Margaret Cooper of Monroe; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver: Vicky Wright. She was predeceased by a grandson: Kelly Wright; and brothers; Hugh Cooper and Gene Cooper and sister: Ruth Richardson.

Wiley Brown, Sr.

Wiley Brown, Sr. age 60 of Loganville died Thursday, 2:OOPM November 2, 2006. Memorial services were held Sunday, November 5, 2006 in the Loganville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Mr. Terry Spurlin officiated.

Mr. Brown was a contractor for Lewis-Sheron Textiles in Atlanta and Owner & operator of A & W Fabrics in Loganville, he was preceded in death by his parents: Clayton & Blanche Brown, Sr. and brother, Clayton Brown, Jr. He is survived by: Wife: Ada Brown of Loganville; children: Tina Ann Johnston of Social Circle; Kimberly Dawn Williams of Monroe; Wiley Lee Brown, Jr. of Loganville; Brothers: Charles Brown of Conowingo of Maryland, Fred Brown of Washington, DC, John Brown of Florida; sisters: Helen Garofallo, Mary Dempsey of Philadelphia, PA.; Lois Grisby, Sally Holcomb, and Janet Murphy all of Florida; grandchild: Krista Anna Williams of Monroe.

Charles Melvin (Chuck) Hewell, Jr.

Charles Melvin (Chuck) Hewell, Jr.,75, of Monroe died November 3, 2006.

A native and life long resident of Walton County, he was a son of the late C. M. Hewell, Sr. and Lucy Cosby Hewell. He was owner of C. M. Hewell Plumbing for 28 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the First united Methodist Church, a member of Generous Warren Lodge # 20 F. & A.M. and served in the U. S. National Guard.

Funeral services were held November 6, 2006 in the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Margaret Adams officiated. Interment was in Rest Haven Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brian Mills, Steven Roberts, Hewell Prince, Jr., Robert Bass, Brian Kozloski and Preston Delashmit.

He is survived by his widow: Bobena Dover Hewell; sons and daughter-in-law: Mell and Kathy Hewell of Monroe; daughters and sons-in-law: Gail and Greg Epting of Covington and Cindy and Paul Amos of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren: April Mills, Holly Roberts, Joy Hewell, Gracie Hewell, Maggie Amos, Madelyn Amos, Jessica Epting and Lindsey Epting; great-grandchild: Carlie Roberts; nephew: Hewell Prince of Monroe. He was predeceased by sisters: Hilda Malcom and Mozelle Hewell.

Eva Mae Barton

Eva Mae Barton, 90, of Monroe died Nov. 1, 2006. She was born on Oct. 3, 1916, in Walton County to the late Bay Greer and the late Katie Greer. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Warren Preston Barton.

Surviving are: daughter: Wanda Barton Jenkins, Thomson; sons and daugter-in-law: Glenn and Delores Barton, Monroe, Georgia and Phillip Greer, Monroe; grandchildren: Brett Barton, Madison, Barry Greer, Monroe, Preston Jenkins, Thomson and Carl Jenkins, Thomson; great grandchildren: Bailey Greer, Monroe.

Funeral Services were held at 2pm., Saturday, Nov. 4 at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Blount officiating. Interment followed at Westlawn Cemetery.

Meadows Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.

John Hubert “Hugh” Crim

John Hubert “Hugh” Crim, 68 of Monroe died, Nov. 3, 2006. He was born in Bessemer, AL to the late Samuel Dewitt and the late Bertie Viola Horton Crim.

He was of Christian faith and retired as Vice President of A.L. Williams Information Network Systems, was a life member of NRA and graduated from Auburn University with a BA in Accounting in 1960.

Survivors are: wife: Gloice Walker Crim; children: John H. Crim, Jr., Loganville, Byron Turney, Dahlonega, Carey Turney, Cumming, Rodney Turney, Jasper, Doug Turney, Jasper; daughter: Julie L. Michael, Loganville; brother: Robert Crim, Kingston; sister: Louise Darby, Bessemer, AL; 16 grandchildren and one great grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, Nov. 6 at 11 am at Smith Memory Chapel. Interment followed at Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Lonnie Rogers Moon, Sr.

Lonnie Rogers, Moon, Sr., age 54 passed away on Nov. 1, 2006. He was born on Sept. 17, 1952 in Walton County to the late R.V. Moon and the late Pearline Greene Moon.

“Roger” was a Plumber most of his life, most recently spent alot of time with his brother “Eddie” and working for his electrical business. Roger never met a stranger, he was an outgoing person he loved his children and grandchildren very much and will be missed by all.

Surviving are: daughter and son-in-law: Michelle and Fred White, Monroe; son and daughter-in-law: Lonnie and Jodi Moon, Snellville; sisters: Gloria Meeks, TN and Annie Pearl Ewing, Walnut Grove; brothers: Eddie (Linda Faye) Moon, Social Circle; Robert (Orie) Moon, Conyers; grandchildren: Jolynn White, Monroe; Sarah Jean and Chase Moon, Snellville.

Funeral Services were held at 3 pm on Sunday, Nov. 5 in the chapel of Meadows Funeral Home, with brother Jake Davis officiating. Interment followed at Corinth Christian Church Cemetery.

Harold Russell Harless
Harold Russell Harless, 82 of Loganville passed away on Tuesday, Dec.19, 2006. Born and raised in Narrows, VA, he served in the Pacific during World War II. He was a skilled pipe fitter/welder by trade and worked on many projects in the Washington D.C. area. He resided for many years in Howard County, MD and retired to Loganville in 1986. He loved and took great pleasure in his pets, was an avid reader and loved to “tinker” in his shop. His final journey (cancer) was a life-lesson in courage, dignity and love. He will be greatly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Lois; son: Michael (Tricia); grandsons: Michael Jr. and Jason; great grandchild: Ashley; sister: Eloise Ratcliff; a host of nieces, nephews and their families, wonderful friends, neighbors, and “Best Pal” Bill.

Jack Calhoun, age 67 of Monroe, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006. Funeral services were held at 11 AM on Friday, December 22, 2006 at Faith Baptist Church, Monroe, GA. The Rev. Chris Conner officiated. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery, Monroe. Mr. Calhoun was an avid hunter, a member of Faith Baptist Church, founder & owner of Green Ranger Delivery Service in 1980 and was preceded in death by daughter Melinda Sublett and brother Bill Calhoun in 2003. Leland “Lee” Allen Russ, of Monroe, died on Dec. 19, 2006. He was born in Du Page County, IL on Jan. 17, 1938 to the late Leo Sylvester Russ and the late Elizabeth Koch Russ. He was the last of eight children. Surviving are: wife: Shirley Russ, Monroe; daughter and son-in-law: Jennifer and Michael Manning, Loganville; grandchildren: Haley, Annalee, Calin and Justin, all of Loganville.

Norman Robert Breheim, a resident of Summers Landing Assisted Living of Monroe, passed away suddenly Dec. 12, 2006. Mr. Breheim was preceded in death by his wife Viola G. Breheim. He served in the US Army as 2nd Lt. Infantry during WWII. He is survived by two sons: Robert Norman Breheim and David Joel Breheim; daughter: Barbara Ann Blackwell and Laura Jean Breheim and Loyal Boston Terrier: Katie Lady. Charlotte Green, age 69 of Loganville, died Sunday, December 10, 2006. Funeral services were held at 3 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2006 in the Loganville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. The Rev. Glenn Stephens officiated. Burial was in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, Loganville. A retired seamstress with Kuppenheimer, Mrs. Green served breakfast at Chick Fil A in Loganville, was a member of the Red Hat Society and Sharon Baptist Church. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother.
