Edna Virginia Norris
Miss Edna Virginia Norris, 80, of Gibson died Monday, March 19, 2007, in the Warrenton Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Miss Norris, a native of Glascock County, was the daughter of the late James Samuel and Sallie Williams Norris.

The funeral was March 21 at 2 p.m. in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Richardson officiating.

Burial was in the Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include one sister, Fannie Belle Johnson, Stapleton; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were G.T. Norris, James Norris, Wayne Norris, Kenneth Norris, Jason Norris and John Alvin Brooks.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Ferman “Jack” Roberts
Mr. Ferman “Jack” Roberts of Thomson died Thursday, March 15, 2007.

The funeral was March 19 at 3:30 p.m. at New Zion AME Church with the Rev. William Wright Jr. officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Roberts; one son, Leon Roberts; two stepsons, James Ervin Roberts and Eldley Roberts, all of Perry, Fla.; three sisters, Juanita Moss, Lucille (Ervin) Kendrick and Nancy (Robert) McNair; three brothers, Austin Roberts, George Willie (Linda) Roberts and Sam Roberts, all of Thomson; two aunts, Georgia Mae Jones and Katrina Roberts, both of Thomson; and several other relatives.

Thomson Funeral System was in charge of the arrangements.

Juanita Greenway Sammons
Mrs. Juanita Greenway Sammons, 79, of Wadley died Friday, March 23, 2007, at Jefferson Hospital.

Mrs. Sammons, a native of Jefferson County, had lived all her life in Wadley.

She was a retired hairdresser and a member of Wadley First United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Edward Greenway.

The funeral was March 26 at 2 p.m. at Wadley First United Methodist Church with Dr. Larry Sauls officiating.

Burial was in the Wadley Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Bonita Handy and Jan (Greg) Gaston, Wadley, and Ginger (Albert) Hall, Swainsboro; one son, Bruce (Lynn) Sammons, Martinez; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Horace Harrell, Ronnie Greenway, Randall Greenway, Larry Watkins, Mark Greenway, William Hall and Johnnie Hall.

Memorials may be made to the Wadley First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 36 W. Calhoun St., Wadley, GA 30477.

Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Elliot Hartwell Stewart
Mr. Elliot Hartwell Stewart, 71, of Hephzibah died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at University Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Stewart was a native of Louisville.

The funeral was March 26 at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Revs. Charlie Peters and Marion Jay officiating.

Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Survivors include his wife, Fronia Stewart.

Memorials may be made to the Dallas Heights Baptist Church, 2404 Boykin Road, Hephzibah, or the American Heart Association, 1105 Fury’s Lane, Suite D, Augusta, GA 30907.

Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, Augusta, was in charge of the arrangements.

James A. Williams Sr.
Mr. James A. Williams Sr., 56, of Bartow died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Williams, a native of Jefferson County, was the son of the late Charlie and Mamie Lou Fleming Williams and the widower of the late Mrs. Katie McKinnie Williams.

He attended Jefferson County Public School and was a member of the New Fleming Baptist Church.

He was a certified diesel mechanic and a certified air condition technician.

The funeral was March 24 at 2 p.m. at the New Fleming Baptist Church and Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. C.L. Cason officiating.

Survivors include his children, Demetria (Derrick) Members, Rochester, NY, Rodney (Shelia) McKinnie, Louisville, Kimberly L. Williams, Stone Mountain, and James A. (Kira Jordan) Williams Jr., Wrens; his siblings, Charlie Mae Braddy and Mamie Johnson, Far Rockaway, NY, Evelyn (Jimmy) Flonnory, Ruby (Moses) Armstrong, Diane Blackwell and Barbara (Shannon) Wells, Atlanta, Jean (Hubert) Flonnory, John (Cleathia) Williams, Johnny (Velma) Williams, Bartow, Morris (Joyce) Williams, Swainsboro, and Mattie (Isaiah) Flounory, Louisville; his mother-in-law, Ezra Flournoy, Wadley; aunts, Nonie Morgan, Bartow, and Roberta Gibbons, Calif.; six grandchildren; and several other relatives.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lois Armstrong Alexander
Mrs. Lois Armstrong Alexander of Evans died Saturday, March 10, 2007.

Mrs. Alexander, a native of Orleans County, was the daughter of Samuel and Rogester Leonard Armstrong.

Shewas a 1950 graduate of Joseph S. Clark High School and attended Corpus Christi Church.

She worked for many years at ACE Hardware. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Benjamin Alexander.

A funeral mass was held March 16 at 11 a.m. at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church and Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans, La., with Father Ray Bamberger officiating. Survivors include her sister, Geraldine A. Lewis; nieces and nephews, Kim (Stephens) Ballard, Marsha Morris, Karen (Arthur) Johnson, Jacob (Lydia) Johnson Jr., Joshua (Willinede) Johnson, Derek (Trina) Lewis Sr., and Jonathan (Shelia) Riley; great nieces and nephews, and other relatives.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Billy L. Boulineau
Mr. Billy L. Boulineau, 80, of Wrens died Monday, March 12, 2007, at Jefferson Hospital.

Mr. Boulineau, a native of Jefferson County, was the son of the late Joe and Ethel Boulineau.

He was retired from Civil Service and was a member of Way’s Baptist Church.

The funeral was March 14 at 3 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Jordan and Pastor Johnny Boulineau officiating.

Burial was at Way’s Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes Boulineau; one daughter, Debra (Steve) Norton, Wrens; two grandchildren, Annie and Johnnie Norton; a sister, Nelle Irwin, Louisville; a brother, John T. Boulineau Sr., Augusta.

Pallbearers were Patrick Boulineau, Bennett Boulineau, Tim Boulineau, Robert Boulineau, Jim Bush, Charles Dillard, Bobby Irwin, William Irwin and Lee Lewis.

Honorary pallbearers were Steve Anderson, Kenneth McDonald, Leon Zeigler, R.S. Zeigler, Walter Prescott, Richard Waters, Edward Newsome, Bill Marsh, Melvin Evans, Bill Tinsley, Leonard “Tubby” James and Marvin Reese.

Robert Cheely
Mr. Robert Cheely of Augusta died Monday, March 12, 2007.

Mr. Cheely was a native of Glascock County but made his home in Augusta.

He was a member of Beulah Grove Baptist Church and a 1961 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School.

He retired from Kelloggs Company and was formerly employed by Murray Biscuit Company and St. Joseph and Grace State Hospitals.

The funeral was March 17 at 11 a.m. at Beulah Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Davis officiating.

Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Cheely; daughter, Terry Lewis-Hale; son, Joseph Anthony Cheely; five sisters, Rosa Gibson, Augusta, Pauline Baker, Mitchell, Josie Gaston, Greensboro, NC, Erma (Stan) Jackson, High Spring, Fla., and Muriel (Harvey) Hutchinson, Gainesville, Fla.; two brothers, Ollie Wilcher Jr., Chicago, William Robert Wilcher, Mitchell; his mother-in-law, Ophelia Leaverett; and five grandchildren.

The Historic Dent’s Undertaking Establishment was in charge of the arrangements.

Rubie L. Kemp Green
Mrs. Rubie L. Kemp Green died Sunday, March 11, 2007, in Jacksonville, Fla.

Mrs. Green, a native of Jefferson County, was a member of Limestone Baptist Church. She was the daughter of Willie and Sudie Jackson Kemp Sr.

The funeral was March 17 at 2 p.m. at Limestone Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny R. Sampson officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her son, Tommie (Clara) Kemp, Wadley; sister, Mattie Bell Harris, N.Y.; nephews, Derrick Brinkley, Donald (Willie Mae) Brinkley and Milvinia Kemp, Wadley, Morris Brinkley, Maxine (Steven) Brinkley and Harriett Brinkley, Philadelphia, Pa., Melinda Kemp, Tammie (Horace) Brown, Fla., David Kemp, Charles Kemp and Leroy Kemp; goddaughter, Corine Scott, NY.

Lee Little Romer
Mrs. Lee Little Romer, 93, of Louisville died Saturday, March 17, 2007.

Mrs. Romer, a lifelong resident of Louisville, was a member of Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, the Missionary Society and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Jefferson Hospital.

She was a retired nurse with the office of the late Dr. Walter Revel.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kinsley Gird Romer, and a son, Kinsley Gird Romer Jr.

A memorial service will be held March 24 at 2 p.m. at Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with the Rev. William Anderson officiating.

Private interment will be in the Louisville City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

Survivors include a son, James W. Romer, Burlington, NC; a daughter, Patty Guill, Richardson, Texas; a sister, Ellen Lesesne, Columbia, SC; and three grandchildren, Dennis Jarret Guill Jr., Lee Romer Guill and Laura Wells Romer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, in behalf of the Laura Romer Ministry, P.O. Box 9, Louisville, GA 30434, or Friends of Historic Downtown Louisville, 605 Mulberry St., Louisville, GA 30434.
