Mrs. Alice Adams Rowe
Mrs. Alice Adams Rowe departed this life Thursday, May 15, 2008, at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 23, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the San Claire Baptist Church and Cemetery, Wadley, with Elder Johnnie B. Johnson officiating.

Survivors include her children, Ruthie (Bill) Harrison of Akron, Ohio, Margery Rowe, David (Helen) Rowe, Barbara Rowe of Long Island, N.Y., and Elvan (Beatrice) Rowe Jr. of Pinole, Calif.; her brothers, Albert (Lillie Dail) Adams of Orlando, Fla., Jessie (Sally) Adams of Wadley, Thomas Adams of Long Island, N.Y.; sisters-in-law, Inellie Lampley of Decatur, and Florence Bryant of Dothan, Ala.

Family maybe contacted at the residence 1605 Brown’s Terrance Road, Louisville or at Davis Funeral Home.

Miss Marvetine Terrell of Louisville entered into rest on Friday, May 9, 2008.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Clair Baptist Church, Keysville. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Lonquetta "Mekell" Wallace
Mrs. Lonquetta “Mekell” Wallace, 29, of Augusta departed this life Sunday, May 11, 2008, at the Medical College of Georgia.

She was a native of Jefferson County, a 1999 graduate of Jefferson County High School and attended Augusta Technical College majoring in cosmetology. She was adopted by Mr. Ed Wallace.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Brinson Hill Church and Old Bethel Cemetery.

Her adopted father, Edward Wallace, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her mother, Linda Stephens of Augusta; father, Alonzo McIntosh Sr. of Wadley; stepfather, David Warthen of Augusta; two children, JerQuetta Lataisia Alazae Flournoy and Jerkheiveus Devon Flournoy, both of Augusta; grandmothers, Idella Knight, Bernice McIntosh of Wadley; five sisters, Kametria Stephens of Augusta, Tiffany Stephens of Savannah, Tasheena Heggs, Heather Heggs, and Nicole Gilmore of Wadley; two brothers, Alonzo McIntosh Jr., Armorian McIntosh of Wadley; uncles and aunts, Bernard Washington of Louisville, Leola Jackson of Augusta, France Greene of New York, Wadley and Larry Stephens of Florida, Candace Reddin of Tampa, Fla.; great-aunts, Betty (Walter) Price of Bartow, Ziffie Marshall of Tampa, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ivera Clark, 108, of Wrens were held Sunday, May 25, 2008, at the First Baptist Church, Stapleton, at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Frank Seabrooks, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Vining Cemetery.

Survivors are daughter, Mary Lue Brown, Wrens; grandson, Roman Gilpen; and a host of great-grandchildren, family and friends.

Mr. Wayne Paul Hall
Mr. Wayne Paul Hall of McBean entered into rest Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Ft. Gordon.

He was a gardener, hunter and fisherman. He was retired from Bell South Telephone Company.

Funeral services were held at Pine Hill Baptist Church, Friday, May 23, 2008, at 10 a.m. with Reverend Robert Driggers and Pastor Paul Hall officiating. Burial followed at New Bethel Baptist Church in Bartow.

He is preceded in death by his wife Judy Hall.

Survivors include his wife, Stella Oglesby Hall; sons, Paul (Rita) Hall, Millsboro, Del.; Chris (Colleen) Hall, Augusta; daughter, Cindy (Vince) Goodwin, Hephzibah; stepson, Brandon (Amanda) Baker, Sardis; stepdaughter, Tammy (Jerry) Williams, Millen; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Larry (Carolyn) Hall; and three nephews,

Pallbearers were Charles Allen, Craig Hall, J.L. Blackburn, Brandon Baker, Charles Brigham and Buddy May.

Honorary pallbearers were Chris Mann and Phillip Story.

Mr. Alvin Hart, 66, of Bronx, N.Y. entered into rest Tuesday, May 20, 2008.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 26, 2008, at 3 p.m. at Spread Chapel AME Church, Stapleton, with Rev. Timothy Lewis officiating. Rev. Dr. Alvonia McCoy, eulogy.

Survivors include six children; two sisters, Carol Ludell Lawrence, Bronx, N.Y. and Muriel Jean Pitts of Wrens.

Mr. Johnny Jones Jr.
Mr. Johnny Jones Jr., 22, of Waynesboro departed this life on Tuesday, May 20, 2008.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 23, 2008, at Jones Grove Baptist Church, Rosier, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Clary Dishmond Jr. officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Kylan Jones of Waynesboro; parents, Johnny and Tosha Jones of Waynesboro, and Angela McGruder of Louisville; three brothers, Christopher Holmes of Augusta, Dennis Jones of Louisville, and Jonathan Jones of Waynesboro; four sisters, LaShanda Jones of Hattiesburg, Miss., Jaquanna and Erin Jones of Waynesboro, and Tremeka Jones of Louisville; grandmother, Marie Jones of Millen; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Anthony of Waynesboro; one niece, Destini Woods of Hattiesburg, Miss.; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Ms. Mattie Pearl Lewis, 65, of Louisville departed this life Thursday, May 22, 2008, at a local hospital.

Ms. Lewis was a native of Jefferson County, a member of the Ebenezer CME Church, a 1965 graduate of Jefferson County High and was employed for many years with the Jefferson County Board of Education as a lunchroom server.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 25, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the Ebenezer CME Church and New Fleming Baptist Church Cemetery, Bartow.

Survivors include her mother, Lola Pearl Lewis Allen of Louisville; her siblings, a host of cousins and friends.

Mrs. Wilhelmina Howell McCormick
Mrs. Wilhelmina Howell McCromick, 93, Midville departed this life, Tuesday, May 20, 2008.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the Bark Camp Baptist Church and cemetery, Vidette.

Survivors include her stepdaughter, Eleanor Hill; several cousins, Georgia London, Willie Robert Mosley and Vanessa Pierce of Midville, Rev. Eddie (Tasha) Mosley of Waynesboro, Ester and Lloyd Dixon of Margate, Fla., Earlene Mosley of Dorchester, Mass., and Jerry Pierce of Hephzibah; Caretakers, Charlie Williams of Davisboro, Johnnie M. Pierce, Charlie Hudson, Mary Howard, Angela Boggs, Joan Hall and Jim Sherrod of Midville.

Miss Vera Neal
Miss Vera Neal, 79 of Thomson entered into rest Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

Miss Neal was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County and was the daughter of the late Jack Columbus Dudley Neal and the late Bertha Newsome Neal. She retired as a seamstress from Thomson Company; worked at Uniroyal and was a nurses aide at McDuffie County Hospital. Miss Neal was also a member of Washington Heights Baptist Church of Thomson.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2008 at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sonny Peevy officiating. Internment followed at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include nephews, Boyd McNair, Greensboro, and Paul McNair, Thomson; nieces, Helen Channel, Wrens, Faye Brown, Missouri, Sherry Fulmer, Dearing, and Shannon Greene, Dearing.

Memorials may be made to Washington Heights Baptist Church.

Mrs. Janet L. Newman
Mrs. Janet L. Newman, 50, of Blythe entered into rest Thursday, May 15, 2008.

Mrs. Newman was a sales person at Haverty’s Furniture Store.

Memorial services were held Saturday, May 24, 2008, at 3 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel, with Race Lariscy officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn Newman; and her son Jeremy Johnson.

Mrs. Ellie Mae Woods Williams, 99, formerly of Midville, Cross-Green Community, died Friday, May 16, 2008, at the Stapley Nursing Home in Philadelphia.

Funeral services were Sunday, May 25, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the Piney Grove Baptist Church, Cross-Green Community, Emanuel County, with Rabbi Joseph B. Rhodes officiating and Rev. Robert Louis Stephens assisting.

Mrs. Jessie Bell Brown
Mrs. Jessie Bell Brown, 97, of Wrens passed on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Glendale Nursing Home in Wadley.

Funeral services for Mrs. Brown were held on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the New Zion Baptist Church, Wrens, with the Rev. Dr. W.L. Jones, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Stone Springfield A.M.E. Church cemetery, Stapleton.

Survivors include two daughters, Viola Neal-Hill, Wrens, and Alice Ruth (Ed) Smith, Mullins, S.C.; one son, Albert (Yvonne) Walker, Evans; one stepson, James (Plexie) Brown; three stepdaughters, Ollie Brown, Emma Swan and Sarah Flournoy, all of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a friend, Emma Nelson, Wrens; several generations of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Ivera Douglas Clark
Mrs. Ivera Douglas Clark, 108, of Wrens entered into rest on Tuesday, May 20, 2008.

Mrs. Clark was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Forest Douglas on Jan. 1, 1900 in Stapleton.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 25, 2008, at the First Baptist Church, Stapleton, at 4 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Frank Seabrooks officiating. Interment was in the Vining Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lue (Ernest) Brown, Wrens; one brother, Charlie (Christen) Pollen, Dearing; grandson, Roman Gilpen, Augusta; four great-grandchildren, Denise (Maurice) Wimberly, Augusta; Sharon (George) Sims, Wrens, Melissa (Willie) Nelson, Louisville; Franklin Gilpen, Augusta; 10 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; one granddaughter-in-law, Barbara Gilpen, Augusta; friend, Francis Connell; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Sue Collins, 71, of Thomson were held on Friday, May 30, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Thankful Baptist Church, Gibson, with Pastor, Rev. Leroy Hudson officiating. Interment, was in the churchyard cemetery.

Survivors include five daughters, Mary E. Carter, Janice (Larry) Crawford, both of Augusta, Patricia (Kevin) Baird, Columbia, S.C., Geraldine (Herman) Brisbon-Mathis, Thomson, and Candes (Jeff) Hood, Springlake, N.C.; one brother, Frankie Lee Carter, Thomson; five stepdaughters, Charlenia Collins, Betty Crawford, both of Boston, Mass., Deborah Griffin, Linda Hunt, and Monica Murphy, all of Thomson; 13 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
