BRADFORD - Winston “Tyler” Bradford, 28, of Duluth, GA, died July 19, 2006. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 22nd, at Simpsonwood United Methodist Church in Norcross. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. at Simpsonwood United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Tyler, a native of Sarasota, FL, was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. While in the U.S. Army, he worked in Special Operations and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (twice), National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Preceded in death by his mother, Lynne Ezell Bradford, he is survived by his sister, Teale Larissa Bradford of Duluth, GA; aunts & uncles, Susan E. Helen C. Jinks, age 89, of Norcross, GA died January 12, 2010. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11:00 am at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm at Jackson Memorial Park, Commerce, GA. The family will receive friends Friday, January 15, 2010 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Jinks was a member of the Peachtree Corners Baptist Church and a former member of North Peachtree Baptist Church. Thomas Jefferson Bailey
Thomas Jefferson Bailey, 84, of Duluth, GA, died January 18, 2010. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21st, at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home in Norcross. Mr. Bailey was a native of Norcross and retired from Amoco with 32 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who participated in seven battles over the islands in the Pacific. Janet T. Miller
Janet T. Miller, 87, of Tucker, GA, passed away on April 30, 2010. Mrs. Miller, “our little red-headed angel”, will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a clerk for Southern Bell for 10 years, retired from the IRS after 20 years of service as a manager and was a dedicated member of Northlake Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, and friend. Preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie C. Miller, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Dwayne Williams of Stone Mountain; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Kathy Miller of Tucker; her grandson and granddaughter, Andy and Jessie Miller of Tucker, her granddaughter, Candy Hopkins and her husband, Richard, of Powder Springs; her two great-grandsons, Taylor and Avery Hopkins of Powder Springs; her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Thelma Miller of Jacksonville, FL; her niece, Carol Lee of Andrews, TX, and her nephew, Robert Miller of Taylors, SC; and numerous cousins and lifelong friends. Miss Polly Jones, 84, of Norcross, GA passed away November 1st, 2009. She was preceded in death by her father, Eustace; her brother, Robert; her mother, Nancy; and her sister Grace Ceran. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Bruce Ceran of Chicago, IL; her niece, Barb Adams and husband, Rick of Elburn, Ill; many special and loving cousins; and her beloved cat, Charlie. Colonel John A. Adams

Colonel Adams was born in Norcross, Georgia, where he attended high school. He graduated from preparatory school at Monroe A&M, Monroe, Georgia. Colonel Adams played baseball on the Norcross City Baseball Team and later played semi-pro baseball with several teams in the Atlanta area. In 1938, he signed a professional baseball contract to pitch for the Atlanta Crackers in the Southern League, throwing his first no-hit no-run perfect game in July 1939. He also spent time playing for the Waycross, Georgia and Ocala, Florida teams. After Pearl Harbor and the beginning of World War II, Colonel Adams entered the Army Air Corps and completed pilot training. He remained in the Air Force as a pilot for thirty-one years. One of the last surviving three-war veterans in Georgia, his service continued through World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Other postings included assignments in Turkey, North Africa, Okinawa, Nicaragua, Beirut, Panama and Japan. For more than fifteen years, Colonel Adams performed duty as Flight Instructor, Test Pilot, and Instrument Check Pilot on C-47 and B-25 aircraft. He was a pilot and Aircraft Commander on B-17 and B-29 aircraft and was one of the early military pilots to fly jet aircraft. In 1957, as pilot and Aircraft Commander of a B-29, Colonel Adams was a member of the Arctic Aerial Expeditionary Force, which accomplished the first aerial mapping of the arctic areas from Southern Alaska to the North Pole. For this duty, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal by President Eisenhower. During his career, Colonel Adams flew twenty types of aircraft from bi-wing to jet aircraft. In 1971, while acting as Director of Operations for Tan Son Nhut Air Base in Saigon, Vietnam, Colonel Adams flew 224 combat missions. His aircraft was shot down on his 204th mission and he crash-landed his airplane. He was rescued and returned to fly additional combat missions before returning to the United States. His decorations for this service include the Bronze Star with Valor, a second Meritorious Service Medal, several Air Medals and the Vietnam Honor Medal. Colonel Adams served three years as Chief of the United States Air Force Mission to Nicaragua. During this period, he supervised the reorganization and upgrade of the Nicaraguan Air Force. For this action, the President of Nicaragua presented him with the Distinguished Service Medal, the highest award presented to a non-citizen of Nicaragua. In 1968, Colonel Adams was participating in a military exercise onboard a Nicaraguan Naval Ship that sunk in the South Atlantic. He was thrown overboard without a life preserver and remained in the water for hours until a rescue ship picked him up. Colonel Adams was a graduate of the United States Air Force Command and General Staff College, Squadron Officers School, Special Air Warfare Counterinsurgency School, the Military Assistance Institute, and the Joint Service Air Ground Operations School of Languages in Spanish. He was also a graduate of the Air Force Tropic Survival School, Arctic Survival School, and Jungle Survival School. In addition, Colonel Adams was a graduate of the U.S. State Department Foreign Service Institute, the Joint Service Inspector General School, and the Joint Service Uniformed Code of Military Justice School. Colonel Adams was a student of Texas A&M University, Georgia Tech, Wofford College, University of Alabama, Georgia Military Academy, and Tokyo University. He was a Certified Attorney under the Uniformed Code of Military Justice and served as a defense lawyer, prosecutor, and judge of the court. Colonel Adams retired from the United States Air Force in 1973. Since retiring, he served eight years as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Gwinnett County Library System and eight years as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Lake Lanier Regional Library System. He served three years as a member of the Senior Advisory Board to the Gwinnett County Public Superintendent. In 1987, he received the Annual Public Service Award, presented by the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce. Colonel Adams was further active as a founder of the First Security National Bank; a Director and past President of the Norcross Lions Club; a member of the Board of Trustees of the Norcross Woman’s Club; a teacher of the Senior Bible Class at Norcross First Baptist Church since 1987; President of the Pinckneyville Community Association; and a founding Director, Treasurer and Secretary of the Norcross Old Timers Baseball Association. Colonel Adams was a Director of the Gwinnett County Unit of the American Cancer Society since 1975, including three terms as Co-President and three terms as Co-Chairman of the Board with his late wife, Martha. In addition to his civic service, his passion over the last forty years was the development of one of the largest private vineyards in Georgia, growing some seventeen varieties of Muscadine grapes. Colonel Adams was preceded in death on July 1, 2008 by his wonderful wife of sixty-three years, Martha Miller. Colonel Adams is survived by two sons, Ronald S. Adams and John A. Adams, Jr. and wife Sherry; four grandchildren, John A. Adams III, Ronald “RJ” S. Adams, Jr. and wife Michelle, Carrie Adams Sellers and husband Cory, and Calvin John Green; and one great-grandchild, Ronald “Buddy” S. Adams III. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 7th, at 1:00 p.m. at Norcross First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at H.G. Wright Cemetery in Norcross. The family will receive friends Friday, November 6th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Arlyne M. Jackson
Arlyne M. Jackson, age 86, of Oakwood, GA, died November 7, 2009. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs. The family will receive friends Monday, November 9, 2009 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Myrtle F. Gregg

Mrs. Myrtle F. Gregg, age 70, of Acworth, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at her residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2006 from the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Clent Boling officiating. Interment will follow in the Cherokee Memorial Park.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Conley and Doris Bowers of Acworth; stepsons, Paul Gregg of Cartersville and Roy Gregg of Marietta; stepdaughters, Velma Atkins and Pearl Ray both of Canton, Hazel McTaggart of Kennesaw and Betty Johnson of Cartersville; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The family is receiving friends after 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Leonard Myles Dunston
Leonard Myles Dunston, 77, while surrounded by family members, passed away peacefully June 11, 2008. Born in Glencoe, Alabama, he had resided in Woodstock, Georgia for the past twenty-seven years.

A lifelong consumate sales professional and veteran of the United States Navy where he served as Dental Technician on the USS Sierra, he was also a Cherokee County Master Gardener and served the Cherokee County Justice Center as Bailiff. But his greatest accomplishment of which he was most proud was that of being a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Married to the love of his life for fifty-seven years, he and his bride raised three girls in Albany, Georgia. The family now includes three sons-in-law, five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

With a keen sense of humor, an outstretched hand and a mint, he charmed his way into the hearts of everyone he met. Fondly known as the "Candy Man", he enjoyed serving as bailiff in the annual trial of the Big Bad Wolf vs. The Three Pigs in the Cherokee County Court System.

A doting father and grandfather, Mr. Dunston leaves to carry on his legacy, his wife of fifty-seven years, Vee Dunston, brother and sister-in-law Rindall and Mamie Dunston, daughters Pam Mullins, Cindy Dunston Quirk and Anita Juilianna, sons-in-law Paul Mullins, Steve Quirk and John Juilianna, grandchildren Shannon Kislat, Katie Demirjian, Jonathon, Hilary and Jeremy Juilianna, grandsons-in-law Thomas Kislat and Eric Demirjian, and great-grandson Patrick Demirjian.

Visitation for friends will be Friday, June 13 between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at Sosebee Funeral Home in Canton, Georgia. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday June 16 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association.

Ola Agnes Rampley

Mrs. Ola Agnes Rampley, age 88 of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at her residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2007 from the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Earl Nelson, Rev. Travis Childers and Rev. Jimmy Rampley officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends all day Thursday and until the funeral hour Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rampley was a homemaker and member of New Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Shirley and the late Roy Rampley, Earl and Jean Rampley, Eva Mozell and Hilburn Childers, Ola and Earl Nelson, Johnny and Doris Rampley, Obie and Gertrude Rampley, Annie and Bobbie Childers, Rachel and Gary Champion, Mamie and Ralph Childers and Daniel Rampley; 42 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren and 37 great-great grandchildren also survive.

Steven Mark (Otis) Foster

Mr. Steven Mark (Otis) Foster, age 46, of Canton, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Kennestone Hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2007 from the Sosebee Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends after 5 p.m. Friday and until the funeral hour Saturday.

Mr. Foster served in the U.S. Army and was a carpenter. He was Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Kelly Foster; mother, Linda Foster of Canton; brother, Donald Scott Foster of Canton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kelly Bagley, BugMan and Jerri McPherson, Frank and Lynn VandeVander and Dawnie and Larry Pinkard; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Albert R. Dulaney

Mr. Albert R. Dulaney, age 57, of Dallas, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2007 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007 from the Turner Chapel A.M.E. church with Pastor Kenneth Marcus officiating. Mr. Dulaney will Lie-in-state from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Kennesaw Memorial Park.

Mr. Dulaney was a minister and member at Turner Chapel A.M.E. He also served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his Brothers, Jamal Bell and Frederick Bell Jr. both of Philadelphia, PA.; sisters, Gwendolyn Lewis, Jacqlyn Fisher, Carolyn Baysmore, Marilyn Bell, Roslyn Bell and Evelyn Bell all of Philadelphia, PA.; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive.

A Wake will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2007 from the Turner Chapel A.M.E.
