Wynell Davis
Mrs. Wynell Davis, 92, of Davisboro died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at the Washington County Regional Medical Care Facility.

Mrs. Davis, a native of Washington County, was the daughter of the late Floyd and Mamie Cobb Burgamy. She had lived most of her life in Jefferson County where she worked at Mirk's Drug Store. She was a member of the Davisboro Baptist Church.

The funeral was July 4 at 11 a.m. at Davisboro Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Glover officiating. Burial was in Davisboro City Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Davis; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of the arrangements.

Jack Z. Greenway
Mr. Jack Z. Greenway, 71, of Augusta died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital.

Mr. Greenway, born in Bartow, worked as a printer for Lily Tulip/Sweetwater Cup Manufacturing Co. and retired after 44 years. He had 30 years of service as a baseball, football and basketball official for the Georgia High School Association and was inducted into the USSSA Georgia Hall of Fame in 1998. He served as president and was active with T. Harry Garrett Elementary School PTA and Tutt Middle School PTA.

The funeral was July 2 at 11 a.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Columbia Road Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Phillips from St. John United Methodist Church officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Maryott Greenway; three sons, Paul H. Greenway, Martinez, Wayne Z. Greenway and Jack G. Greenway, both of Augusta; two stepsons, Alfred C. Brown, Encinitas, Calif. and Phillip N. Brown, Lawrenceville; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 246 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907.

Jere Wasden Lewis
Mrs. Jere Wasden Lewis, 53, of Louisville died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.
Mrs. Lewis was born Dec. 12, 1949, in Augusta. She was a homemaker and a member of Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

The funeral was July 13 at 6 p.m. at the Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Hendrick officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Samuel Lewis; three children, Jonathan Samuel (Margaret) Lewis, Joy Meadows Lewis and Matthew William Lewis; her parents, James Wasden and Elaine Fortner Butler; a brother, James Wasden, and half-siblings, Doug Wasden, Brad Wasden and Jena Wasden Farrow.

Memorials may be made to the Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Jere Lewis Memorial Fund for Wycliffe Bible Translators.

Russell B. Caughey Sr.
Mr. Russell B. Caughey Sr. of Wadley died Tuesday, July 1, 2003.

A memorial service was held on July 3 at 4 p.m. at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. David O. Davis officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Caughey; two sons, Brent Lawson, Palm City, Fla., and Russell B. Caughey Jr., Bartow; and four grandchildren, Mesha Lawson, Brent Lawson Jr., Tylor Rae Caughey and Russell (Trey) B. Caughey III.

Johnny Brown
Mr. Johnny Brown, 54, of Augusta died Monday, July 7, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta.

Mr. Brown, a native of Avery, was a sales representative at American Concrete and formerly the plant manager at Claussen Concrete. He served in the Georgia National Guard for six years.

The funeral was July 10 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Poteet & Son Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial was at Waldens United Methodist Church Cemetery at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Marvin Goodman officiating.

Survivors include his parents, Ralph and Helen Brown, Avera; a daughter, Shannon Brown (Steve) Jenkins, Martinez; a brother, Ken Brown, Auburn, Ala.; two sisters, Carol B. Logan, Greenville and Caren B. Skinner, Avera; and a granddaughter, Scarlett Jenkins.

Pallbearers were Bobby Ownes, E.R. Hughes, James Hutton, Billy Brantley, Toney Heard, Ken Ashe, Gene Brown, Paul Brown and Dr. Roger Brown.

Memorials may be made to the Walden Cemetery Fund, 5837 Hwy. 88 West, Stapleton, GA 30823.

Thomas Poteet & Son - Funeral Directors, Augusta, was in charge of the arrangements.

Gladys Mae Sanders Smith Williams
Mrs. Gladys Mae Sanders Smith Williams of Wadley died on July 9, 2003, at her residence in Wadley.

The funeral was July 15, 2003, at 3 p.m. at San Clair Baptist Church in Wadley with the Rev. Kenneth Davis officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Luther Williams; one son, Eddie James Smith, Patterson, NJ; two daughters, Alice Smith, Wadley, and Venette Williams Cobb, Midville; three sisters, Marion White, Wadley, Gaynell Sanders, Louisville and Alice Barge, Trenton, NJ; and three brothers, Wayne Sanders Jr. and Roy Sanders, Swainsboro, and Charles Sanders, Burlington, NJ.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

Albert L. "Daddy" Gibbons
Mr. Albert L. "Daddy" Gibbons, 51, of Louisville died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at Jefferson Hospital.
Mr. Gibbons, a native of Jefferson County, lived here most of his life. He was a member of Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church.

The funeral was July 16 at 2 p.m. at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his brothers and sisters, Joe Gibbons, Louisville, Sam Gibbons, Augusta, Josephine Durden and Charlie Durden, Wadely, Lillie Mae Dates, Pittsburg, Va. and Jerome Jordan, Jacksonville, Fla.; his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Gibbons, Louisville; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Dixon M. Glover
Mr. Dixon M. Glover, 79, of Atlanta died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at DeKalb Medical Center.

Mr. Glover grew up in Monticello and graduated from North Georgia College. He was a World War II veteran and returned to receive his masters degree from the University of Georgia. He was an educator serving for 38 years as a teacher, coach and principal beginning in Dublin, Wrens, Commerce and Cartersville. He retired as principal from Druid Hills High School of Atlanta after 13 years. He served as a field representative of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur. He was a member of the Laurel Ridge Lodge Lions Club and a member of the Atlanta Senior Golfers Association.

A memorial service was held July 16 at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Adams Glover; a daughter, Callie Spencer, Duluth; his sons, Dixon Glover III, Houston, Tex., Robert T. Glover, Ponte Vedra, Fla., and Allen A. Glover, Grayson; a sister, Mary K. Tamson, Danville, Va.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A.S. Turner and Sons was in charge of the arrangements.

Jewel H. Jennings
Mrs. Jewel H. Jennings, 85, of Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center died Friday, July 18, 2003.

Mrs. Jennings, a native of Jefferson County, was preceded in death by her sister, Nellie Hadden.

The funeral was July 21 at 2 p.m. at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Goodman officiating. Burial was in West View Cemetery in Augusta.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

James Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lillie "Inez" Landrum Usry
Mrs. Lillie "Inez" Landrum Usry, 85, of Gibson died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Usry, a native of Glascock County, was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Gibson. She was the wife of the late Jessie Usry. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melinda Anderson.

The funeral was July 18 at 3 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Doug Mays, Marvin Goodman and Terry Addis officiating. Burial was at Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include her sons, Algernon Usry, Stapleton, Kenneth Usry, Wrens, Harold Usry, Sandersville and Garry Usry, Thomson; her daughters, Edith Walden, Augusta, Wanda Metz, Oconee and Lynne Jenkins, Thomson; a sister, Virginia Thigpan, Hiawassee; a godson, Sidney L. Usry, San Diego, Ca.; and 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were her grandsons.

Memorials may be made to the Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Jessie Roy Robertson
Mr. Jessie Roy Robertson of Wadley died Monday, July 14, 2003.

The funeral was July 19 at 11 a.m. at Gordon Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Freddie Lewis officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie Thompson Roberson; a stepson, Eddie Gamble, Moncks Corner, SC; two sisters, Clemmie Johnson, NY, and Mary England, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

Sara Ann Bobo Henderson
Mrs. Sara Ann Bobo Henderson, 58, of Thomson died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta.
Mrs. Henderson, a native of Wilkes County, was the daughter of Amanda Darracott and Ralph Graydon Bobo Sr. She graduated from Washington High School and Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. She had lived in Thomson since 1967 and was employed by the McDuffie County Board of Education for 23 years as an elementary teacher. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and other school and civic organizations. She was a member of Thomson First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Henry Henderson.

The funeral was July 28 at 2 p.m. at Thomson First United Methodist Church with Dr. George Freeman and the Rev. Brian Davis officiating. Burial was in the Louisville City Cemetery.

Survivors include her son, William Trent Henderson, Thomson; one brother, Graydon (Pat) Bobo, Washington; two sisters, Jean (Edwin) Bobo Sayer, Lexington and Carol (John) Bobo Grooms, Calhoun; four nieces, three nephews and an aunt.

Pallbearers were Roger Burton, Chad Hammond, Craig Reese, Brad Smith and Jeff Wood.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Music Ministry, P.O. Box 8, Thomson, GA 30824.

Wilburn Jenkins
Mr. Wilburn Jenkins, 83, of Louisville died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at the Bethany Home in Millen.

Mr. Jenkins, a native of Tennessee, was a retired carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received the purple heart and the distinguished service award. He was of the Baptist faith.

A graveside service was held July 29 at 3 p.m. in the Louisville City Cemetery with the Rev. Frank Wright officiating.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Nellie Wright, Chattanooga, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews, and friends, Mrs. Margaret Johnson and Robert and Sylvia Clements, all of Louisville.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Louisville Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.
