Freddie Lee “Peanut” Morgan
Mr. Freddie Lee “Peanut” Morgan, 46, of Louisville died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at Jefferson Hospital.

Mr. Morgan, a native of Jefferson County, was a member of the Gordon Grove Baptist Church. He was a 1978 graduate of Louisville High School.

The funeral was Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. at Gordon Grove Baptist Church and Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Webb officiating. Survivors include his parents, Geneva “Polly” Reese and John Willie Reese Jr., of Louisville; three children, Levar Strowbridge, Freddie Little and Nancy Little of Wadley; his siblings, Albertha M. Heggs, Hephzibah, Thelma Reese, Willie Reese III, Daisy Reese, Phyllis Reese, Martha (W.J.) Warthen and Brenda Gordon, all of Louisville.

Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Juanita Nelms
Mrs. Juanita Nelms of Louisville passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006.

Mrs. Nelms was the daughter of Theordore Fischer and Amazette Meade Fischer of Golden City, Mo.

Private graveside services were held Oct. 8 at Bartow Cemtery.

Survivors include her husband, Jon Nelms; her son, Daniel Nelms, Louisville; her daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Michael Horne, Louisville; a sister, Sheila Williams, Golden City, Mo.

Richard Wayne Scarboro
Mr. Richard Wayne Scarboro, 32, of Wadley died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006.

Mr. Scarboro, born in Richmond County, was a carpenter.

Graveside services were Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Wadley Cemetery with the Rev. William Thompson officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Kelly Scarboro; three sons, Christopher Scott Arthur, Chace Allen Scarboro and Austin Wade Scarboro; his father and mother, Miles, Jr. and Barbara Scarboro, Wadley; two brothers, William Russell Scarboro, Hephzibah, and Robert Scarboro, Lincolnton; and a sister, April Michelle McGahee, Wadley.

Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Johnnie Paul Williams
Mrs. Johnnie Paul Williams, 90, of Louisville died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at Jefferson Hospital.

Mrs. Williams, a native of Jefferson County, was a homemaker and a member of Colemans Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Dewitt Paul, Loring A. Paul and Lynwood P. Paul; and three sisters, Daisy P. McLendon, Elizabeth Paul and Margaret Paul.

The funeral was Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. at Colemans Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Barbara Nelson and Ray Garren officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include three nieces, Betty Bowman, Wadley, Ann P. McGahee, Jesup, and Barbara M. Nelson, Dublin; one nephew, William D. Paul, Athens; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Colemans Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Ruth Paul, River Rd., Wadley, GA 30477.

Lamar Williams
Mr. Lamar Williams of Wadley died Friday, Oct. 6, 2006.

The funeral was Oct. 12 at 2:30 p.m. at Hudson Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Herman Baker officiating. Burial was in the Kingdom Life Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Maggie Jackson Williams; father, Cleveland Williams Jr., St. Petersburg, Fla.; a daughter, LaTasha W. (James) Morgan, Wadley; two stepdaughters, Angie Jackson, Wadley, and LaTonya Jackson, Augusta; a stepson, Lee Edward Jackson, Wadley; four sisters, Minister Marie Brown and Marion Johnson, Wadley, Katherine Swint, Louisville, and Lorraine Williams, Lakeland, Fla.; a brother, Edward Williams, Lakeland, Fla.; and several other relatives.

Pallbearers were Johnny Collins, Walter Lee Jackson, Freddie Knight and Bobby Green.

Hudson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

Lou Queen Chavis
Mrs. Lou Queen Chavis, 74, of New York City, N.Y., died Tuesday, March 7, 2006.

Mrs. Chavis was a native of Orangeburg, S.C., and retired from Montgomery Ward.

The funeral was March 13 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Orangeburg. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her mother, Effie Chavis, Orangeburg; children, Ethel (Joe) Vance, Dale City, Va., Deloris (Freeman) Battle, Wrens, and Anthony Chavis, New York; her siblings, Willie Chavis, Bronx, N.Y., Estelle (Fred) Frederick and Daysell Chavis, Orangeburg, and Gladys Chavis, Palm Bay, Fla.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

George Flournoy
Mr. George Flournoy, 67, of Wadley died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at the Medical College of Georgia.

Mr. Flournoy, a native of Jefferson County, was the son of the late Hues Gibbons and Lula Flournoy. He joined the Ebenezer CME Church at an early age. He worked at Knox Rivers Construction Company for several years before starting his own business.

The funeral was March 11 at 2 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Ebenezer CME Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Perry Price Flournoy, Bartow; his children, George K. (Geneva) Flournoy, Randy (Angie) Flournoy, Chuckie (Cynthia) Flournoy, Pamela Flournoy and Robin Flournoy, Wadley, Steven Flournoy, Tony (Alicteen) Flournoy and Stacey Flournoy, Louisville, and Shannon Flournoy, Bartow; his siblings, Arthur Flournoy, Wadley, and Willie (Dorothy) Flournoy, Louisville; 20 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and several other relatives.

Zora P. Meadows
Mrs. Zora P. Meadows, 102, of Wadley died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Jefferson Hospital.

Mrs. Meadows was born in Johnson County and had lived in Wadley for the past 40 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wadley Baptist Church where she was a member of the Victory Bible Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Massey W. Meadows, her daughter, Pamela Ackridge, and her great-grandson, Jeremy Blake Meadows.

The funeral was March 9 at 2 p.m. at Wadley Baptist Church with the Revs. Tom Harrison and Donald Lumpkin officiating. Burial was in the Wadley Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Donald Meadows, Wadley; a granddaughter, Brandie Akridge Brady, Oak Park; a grandson, Jeremy P. Meadows, Midville; four great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Benjie Leaptrott, David Way, Jimmy Price, Kenny Everette and Ollie Freeman Jr.

Katie Wells Overstreet
Mrs. Katie Wells Overstreet, 82, of Gibson died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at Gibson Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Overstreet was a native of Glascock County and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Graveside services were held March 14 at 1 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery with Layman Lewis Wells officiating.

Survivors include her son, Willie E. Overstreet, Thomson; three daughters, Mary Ann Trotter, Augusta, Bonnie L. Morris, Beech Island, S.C., and Betty Ruth; three brothers, John Willie Wells, Alma, George Wells, Baker, La., and Lewis Wells, Gibson; three sisters, Mary Usry, Gibson, Florrie Arrington, Twin Falls, Idaho, and Rendia Kent, Collinsville, Okla.; and three grandchildren.

Gregory T. Price
Mr. Gregory T. Price, 38, of Gibson died Wednesday, March 8, 2006.

Mr. Price, a native of Richmond County, had lived in Gibson all his life. He was a graduate of Glascock County High School class of 1987. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Sterling Williford, his maternal grandparents, Lester and Ruth Walden, and granddaddy, Harold Price Sr.

The funeral was March 10 at 2 p.m. at Gibson United Methodist Church with the Revs. Griffin Thompson and Bill Seaman. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his son, Jared Caleb Thomas Price; his parents, Paul and Dale Price, Gibson; two brothers, Doug (Lori) Price, Gibson, and Chris (Jessica) Price, Evans; two sisters, Judy Price, Gibson, and Angela (Brent) Coxwell, Gibson; four nephews, Will Price, Lewis Watkins, Lyle Watkins and Austin Coxwell; two nieces, Emily Price and Paige Price; paternal grandmother, Doris Williford.

Pallbearers were Les Walden, Eddie Walden, Jess Reid, Bill May, Lee Griffin, Keith Price, Bryan Bopp and James Hawkins.

Honorary pallbearers were the class of 1987.

Mary Ruth Davis
Mrs. Mary Ruth Davis, 71, of Athens died Wednesday, July 26, 2006.

Mrs. Davis, a native of Jefferson County, was the daughter of the late John David Sr. and Mary Swint Adams. She graduated from Wrens High School in 1953, received her business education degree from the University of Georgia and taught at Commerce High School from 1957-1962. She was active with the Town and Country Garden Club for over 30 years and was a member of the Prince Avenue Baptist Church since 1961 where she was a member of WMU, sang in the church choir and worked with the GAs. She is preceded in death by her brother, J.D. Adams.

The funeral was July 27 at 3 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jonathan Kammerer and Bill Ricketts officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Memorial Park.

Survivors include her husband, Horace G. Davis Jr.; a beloved niece, Karen Adams-Dimery, and her children Matthew and David Dimery.

Pallbearers were Ralph Almond, Jim Evans, John Pugh, Chuck Carson, Herbert Logan, Richard Turpin, Matthew Dimery and David Dimery.

Honorary pallbearers were the Seekers Sunday School Class of Prince Avenue Baptist Chruch.

Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth H. Hutchins
Mrs. Ruth H. Hutchins, 95, of Atlanta died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.

Mrs. Hutchins, formerly of Moxley Community, was a native of Emanuel County. She operated Ruth’s Country Store in Moxley for many years. She was the oldest member of the Moxley United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband C.W. Hutchins Sr.; her parents, Samuel J. and Anna Hall; and four brothers and two sisters.

The funeral was July 29 at 2 p.m. at Moxley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Lovejoy officiating. Burial was in the Moxley Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Charles W. (Dianne) Hutchins Jr., Atlanta; two grandchildren; one sister-in-law; one nephew and several nieces.

Pallbearers were Steve Raines, Thad Raines, Charles Smith, Wynder Smith, Harry McGray and Roy Gaston.

Frances A. McDaniel
Mrs. Frances A. McDaniel, 86, of Georgetown, S.C., died Wednesday, July 26, 2006.

Mrs. McDaniel, a native of Jefferson County, was the daughter of the late Rufus Walter Anglin and Rutha Frances Dial Anglin. She was a homemaker and a member of Friendfield Presbyterian Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Ray McDaniel, and son Thomas M. McDaniel

The funeral was July 29 at 2 p.m. in Victory Christian Fellowship with the Rev. Rod Reid officiating. Burial was in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include two sons, Elliott (Cindy) McDaniel, Georgetown, and David (Lucy) McDaniel, Mt. Pleasant; four daughters, Raynelle M. (Wayne) Baize, James Island, Rutha Camlin, Georgetown, Susan M (Paige) Sawyer, Georgetown, and Hope M. (Blake) Talley, Colorado Springs, Colo.; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 5005 LBJ Fwy., Ste, 250, Dallas, Tex. 75244.
