Bobby H. Pressley
Bobby H. Pressley, 61, of LaGrange died Monday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Pressley, born June 21, 1939, was the son of the late Sammy and Maybell Blankenship Pressley. He had lived here all his life, retired from the City of LaGrange and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors, include two daughters, Michelle Pressley Sherrod of LaGrange and Denise Pressley Jones of Hogansville; a son, Garrett Pressley of LaGrange; two sisters, Lois Knight and Peggy Hale; three brothers, Billy Pressley, Loyd Pressley and Riley Pressley; his former wife, Polly Pressley, all of LaGrange; eight grandchildren and four great - grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Pressley.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Friendship Baptist Church in LaGrange with the Rev. James Moon officiating. Burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville
The body has been taken to the home of Polly Pressley at 234 Rutland Circle where the family will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9.
The Claude A. McKibben & Sons Funeral Home of Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Merlene Shipul
Mrs. Merlene Godfrey Shipul, 77, 704 S. Lee St., died Monday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Shipul, born May 20, 1923, in Troup County, was the daughter of the late Orren Felton and Bernice Beatrice Gilbert Godfrey. She had lived here most of her life, was a homemaker and had been employed at the Hillside Plant of Callaway Mills. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Spraggins of West Point and Vera Joiner of Fayetteville N.C.; two brothers, Tom Godfrey of Gatesville, Texas and Jim Godfrey of Acworth; a nephew, Pete Hightower of West Point; a niece, Sue Hightower of LaGrange; a brother - in - law, Don Ramsey of West Point; a close friend, Donna Watts of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Charles Shipul, and a sister, Frances Beatrice Hightower.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Howard officiating. Entombment in Shadowlawn Mausoleum.
The family will be at her home and will receive friends Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ed Bishop
George Edward (Ed) Bishop, 67, of 910 Callaway Avenue died Sunday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Bishop, born January 26, 1934, in LaGrange was the son of the late Albert Edward and Mabel Fuller Bishop. He had lived here all his life and was operations manager of ServiceMaster and was formerly employed at the Unity Plant of Milliken & Company. He attended Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Barbara Bishop; three daughters and sons - in - law, Susan and Ronnie Barnes, Elaine and John DeLong and Lynn and Steve Morgan; two sons and daughters - in - law, Charles and Tricia Bishop and Bobby and Brenda Bishop; 11 grandchildren; a sister, Betty Brooks, all of LaGrange; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Chapman and Max McCord officiating. Burial will be in Meadoway Gardens.
The family will be at his home and will recieve friend this evening at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road from 7 until 9.

Mrs. Julia M. Haynes
Mrs. Julia M. Haynes, formerly of LaGrange, died Friday at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Springs, Md.
The family will be at the home of her sisters, Annie Foster at 609 Chattahoochee St., and Lorene Boykin at 200 Kings Park Lane.
Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Oshia Culberson
Oshia Culberson, 27, of 2436 County Line Road in Atlanta died Thursday.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Hogansville with the Rev. W.E. Geter officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery.
Thrash and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Dewey Smith
Robert Dewey Smith, 75, of Hogansville died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Born October 27, 1925, in Habersham County, Mr. Smith had lived in Hogansville since 1987 and was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Hogansville Senior Center.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Smith and Lisa Smith, both of Hogansville; and a sister, Allene Waters of Newnan.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Claude A. McKibben & Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville with Dr. Jimmy Brown officiaitng. Burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evenng from 7 until 9.

Taylor Michelle Gay
Taylor Michelle Gay, of 119 Old Airport Road, Apt. 167, died Friday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Survivors include her parents, Tina and Shane Gay; grandparents, Sharon and Eddie Wood, Judy and Freddie Walker and Rick and Sherrie Gay, all of LaGrange; great - grandparents, Troy and Quinnie Wood of Douglas, J.W. and Myrtle Taylor of Sasser and William and Betty McCollough.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Rosemont Baptist Church with the Rev. Aaron McCollough officiating. Burial will be in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.
The family will be at their home and will receive friend this evening at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road from 6 until 8.

Mrs. Dot Teel
Mrs. Dorothy Teel, 90, of 4295 Hopewell Church Road died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Betty Jean Warbington in Vienna, Ga.
Mrs. Teel was born Oct. 24, 1910, in Fredonia, Ala., to the late Benjamin T. and Mattie R. Edwards James. She had lived with her daughter and son - in - law in Vienna for the past three years, having lived most of her life in the Hopewell Community. She and her late husband, George W. Teel, owned and operated Teel's Grocery Store. She was a homemaker and a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Survivors beside her daughter Betty Jean Warbington include two other daughters, Joyce Wright of Mountville and Dotty Croker of Smyrna, and seven grandchildren and nine great - grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church with the Revs. Danny Courson, Bobby Carpenter and T.P. Hadley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at her home and will receive friends at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary this evening from 5 until 7.

Mrs. Shirley M. Hester
Mrs. Shirley M. Hester, 48, of 1246 Hightower Road in Hogansville, died Friday at Columbus Medical Center.
Mrs. Hester was born Sept. 3, 1952, in Heard County to Rachel Shelnutt of LaGrange and the late Mallory Lewis Shelnutt. She lived in Hogansville for most of her life and was a homemaker.
Survivors beside her mother include her husband, Jerry B. Hester of Hogansville; one son and daughter - in - law, Waylon and Patricia Hester of Greenville; four grandchildren, Rayvn Lea Hester and Harlee Sierra Hester of Greenville, Tiffany Douglas and J.C. Douglas of Hogansville; one sister, Sara Jean Douglas of Hogansville; four brothers and sisters - in - law, Larry and Brenda Shelnutt, Wayne and Marie Shelnutt, Charles Shelnutt and Hulett Shelnutt, all of LaGrange; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services will take place Monday at 1 p.m. at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Chapel with the Rev. Tina Lashley officiating. Burial service will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will be at Mrs. Hester's home and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 until 9.

Paul Johnson
Paul Johnson, 73, of Columbus, formerly of LaGrange, died Saturday morning in Columbus.
Mr. Johnson was born Feb. 15, 1928, in Randolph County, Ala., to the late Melvin and Ethel Robinson Johnson. He lived in LaGrange for most of his life, was an air force veteran, retired from Coca - Cola and was a member of Old Pathway Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Osborne Johnson of Columbus; a sister and brother - in - law, Joyce and Harry Ullman of Macon; and a brother and sister - in - law, Gary and Linda Johnson of Thomaston.
Funeral services will be held today at 4 p.m. from the graveside in Shadowlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Mitchell officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Striffler - Hamby Mortuary this afternoon from 3 until 3:45.
The family requests that all flowers be omitted and donations be made to Old Pathway Baptist Church.
Funeral arrangements by Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road.

Roger L. Payne
Roger L. Payne, 47, of 30 Thornton St., died Tuesday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Payne, born July 1, 1953, in Franklin, was the son of Mrs. Sarah Payne of LaGrange and the late Robert Lee Payne. He had lived here most of his life, was employed at Interface Flooring Systems and was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Lanett, Ala.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Mrs. Pat Payne; a sister, Kathy Payne; a brother, Billy Payne; a sister - in - law and brother - in - law, Geraldine and Mike Duke, all of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Duke, the Revs. Mike Gay and Gary McNeily officiating. Entombment will be in Shadowlawn Mausoleum.
The family will be at the homes of his sister - in - law and brother - in - law, Geraldine and Mike Duke, at 3489 Hogansville Road and his mother, Mrs. Sarah Payne, at 36 Thornton St., and will receive friends this evening at the funeral home from 7 until 9.

Garnett Towns
Garnett Towns of 4733 Greenville Road died Friday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Towns, born in Troup County, was the son of the late Johnny and Ruth Edward Towns. He was a deacon of True Gospel Deliverance Church.
Surivivors include four brothers and two sisters - in - law, Johnny Towns of Mountville, Isaiah and Linda Towns of Greenville, Bennett and Jacqueline Towns of Hogansville and Arthur Towns of LaGrange; two sisters, Earnestine Towns of Mountville and Nettie Towns Daniel of Atlanta; two uncles, Richard Edwards and Lonnie Edwards, both of Hogansville; a close niece, Markriyianni Towns; and several other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at True Gospel Deliverance Church on Highway 100 in Greenville. with Pastor Robert L. Hopson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at his home.
West Georgia Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
