Mrs. Velma L. Schrieber
Mrs. Velma L. Schrieber, 74, of 64 North Cary St., died Tuesday at her home.
Mrs. Schrieber, born April 17, 1926, in Chambers County, Ala., was the daughter of the late Grover and Ola Banks Lashley. She was a homemaker and a member of Gray Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Mary and Mark Twilley of the Louise Community; two sons and daughters - in - law, Frank and Janyth Pearce of LaGrange and John Will and Sandra Pearce of Five Points, Ala.; eight grandchildren; two great - grandchildren; four brothers, Gaines Lashley of Sumner, Grover Lashley of Albany, Lorenza Lashley of Redwood, Calif., and Bobby Lee Lashley of Vienna; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Gray Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Lamar Womack officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were directed by Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road

Angela Sewell
Angela Sewell, 37, of Grantville died Saturday.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul C.M.E. Church in Lone Oak with the Rev. Billy Glanton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Thrash & Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.

Christina Ann Alford
Christina Ann Alford, infant daughter of Steven and Mary Ann Dooley Alford of 116 Red Oak Trail in LaGrange, died December 24 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center in Greenville, S.C.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include a sister, Megan Alford; a brother, Steven Alford II; grandparents, Darrell and Carolyn Alford of Simpsonville S.C., Denis and Rita Pieri and Bob and Maria Dooley, all of Richwood, W. Va.; and great - grandparents, Hazel Alford of South Charleston, W.Va., and Leo and Ella Pieri of Florida.
Funeral services were at 10 this morning in Babyland in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at 232 Greenbriar Drive in Simpsonville, S.C.
Thomas McAfee Funeral Home in Greenville, S.C., was in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Curran S. Easley Jr.
Dr. Curran S. Easley Jr., 77, of 235 Baywood Circle died Monday at Hospice LaGrange.
Dr. Easley, born March 11, 1923, in Clover, S.C., was the son of the late Curran Sloan Sr. and Polly Jeter Easley. He had lived in LaGrange most of his life and was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. He was a pediatric physician and practiced in LaGrange from 1950 until 1992. He was founder of The Children's Clinic and a 1945 graduate of Emory School of Medicine. In 1993, the pediatric unit at West Georgia Medical Center was named in Dr. Easley's honor. He was a veteran of the United States Army Medical Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hollis Rawson Easley of LaGrange; two daughters, Hollis Strozier of Greenville, S.C., and Katherine Easley of Emerald Isle, N.C.; a son, Rawson Easley of LaGrange; five grandchildren and a granddaughter - in - law, James Strozier of Greenville, S.C., Jason and Allison Easley of Boiling Springs, S.C., Michele Cosgrove of Charleston, S.C., Michael Cosgrove and Andrew Cosgrove, both of Emerald Isle, N.C.; and a brother, James T. Easley of Taylors, S.C. He was preceded in death by a son, Curran Sloan Easley III.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Lori M. Lowe, the Rev. William A. Jones, retired Bishop of Missouri and former rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, and the Dr.. Paul R. Baxter officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at their home at 235 Baywood Circle, and will receive friends at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home from 6 until 8 this evening.
Memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of LaGrange, or to Camp Viola in remembrance of Dr. Easley's devotion to children.

Frank L. Humphries
Frank L. Humphries, 85, of Bluemont, Va., formerly of West Point, died Monday in Marshall, Va.
Mr. Humphries was the former owner of the Adjustment Agency, Inc., in West Point and past president of the Georgia Collectors Association. He was a 50 year Mason and a member of First United Methodist Church of West Point.
Survivors include a son, David Humphries of Bluemont, Va.; a sister, Kate Garrett of Greenville; and a brother, Dawson Humphries of the Big Spring Community. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa H. Humphries.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in West Point with the Rev. Joe Watson officiating. Burial will be in Marseilles Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 and after the burial service in the church social room.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of West Point in memory of Mr. Humphries.

Joseph David Arnold
Joseph David Arnold died Wednesday.
Mr. Arnold, a native of Mobile, Ala., was the son of the late Jack and Hattie Arnold. He was a textile worker.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Arnold of LaGrange; four sons and a daughter - in - law, Joe Jr. and Betty Arnold of Newnan, Donnie Davidson, Tony Pickett and Casanova Arnold, all of LaGrange; a daughter, Denise Arnold of LaGrange; his mother - in - law, Willie Bell Fanning of LaGrange; nine grandchildren; his stepmother, Ethel Arnold; five brothers and two sisters - in - law, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lee Arnold, James Arnold, Leo Arnold, Sherman and Rachel Arnold and Joe Lewis Arnold; two sisters, Betty Arnold and Bertha Arnold, all of Mobile; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Southview Cemetery with the Brother Marion Fitzpatrick officiating.
The family will be at their home at 1205 Elm St.
A service by Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cloie B. Stevens
Mrs. Cloie B. Stevens, 80, of 135 South Page St., died Sunday at her home.
Mrs. Stevens, born July 4, 1920 in Heard County, was the daughter of the late John C. and Martha Rice Meadows. She was employed by the Duracell Battery Company and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include four daughters, Hazel Brooks of LaGrange, Helen Brooks of Five Points, Ala., Hildra Ann Mosley of Houston, Texas, and Harvoline Stevens of Tampa, Fla.; two sons, Hershel Stevens of Standing Rock, Ala., and Harold Stevens of Northfolk, Va.; a sister, Brooksie Gosdin of Woodland, Ala.; 13 grandchildren, 20 great - grandchildren, a great, great - grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin C. Stevens and a son, Horace Stevens.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. EST Wednesday at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints at 115 Clark Street. The Rev. Ed White, Elder Terry Tankersley and Elder Oliver Booth will officiate with burial in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The body will be at her home until one hour prior to the funeral service.
Flowers will be accepted, or those desiring may make contributions to The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in memory of Mrs. Stevens.
Quattlebaum Funeral Home in Roanoke is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lora M. Franklin
A memorial service for Mrs. Lora M. Franklin, 91, of 101 Vernon Woods Drive will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Community Room of Vernon Woods Retirement Community at 101 Vernon Woods Drive.
Mrs. Franklin, who died December 21 at West Georgia Medical Center, was born July 15, 1909, in Walton County and was the daughter of the late Cicero William and Mable Duncan Martin. She was a retired cloth inspector from the Monroe Mill and a former member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church in Monroe. She had lived in LaGrange since June and was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Franklin.
Survivors include two daughters, Loretta Beall of LaGrange and Flora Jarrett of Charlotte, N.C.; a son, William Donald Franklin of Charleston, S.C.; several grandchildren and four great - grandchildren.
The Rev. Helen Henry will conduct the memorial service. All friends of the family are invited to attend.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road is in charge of arrangements.

Talmadge L. Davidson
Talmadge (Dude Bugg) Davidson, 53, of the New Harmony Community died Thursday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Davidson, born September 26, 1947, in Troup County, was educated in the West Point School System and was a 1965 graduate of Harrison High School. He was a member of New Harmony CME Church.
Survivors include two sons, Talmadge Jerome Davidson of Montgomery, Ala., and Eric Brewer of Valley, Ala.; his mother, Mary Davidson of West Point; three brothers, Michael Lovelace and Earl Lovelace, both of West Point, and Robert Lovelace Jr. of Jersey City N.J.; a sister, Peggy Lovelace of Brooklyn, N.Y.; an aunt, Louise Davidson of West Point; an uncle, Jimmy Lewis Davidson of LaGrange; and a close cousin, Susie Mae Lynch of West Point.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m at New Harmony CME Church with the Revs. Eddie Copeland and Lovett Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Miss Luzola Evans
Miss Luzola Evans, 64, of 205 Keyes St., died Friday at Hospice LaGrange.
A native of Troup County, she was the daughter of J. T. Evans and the late Mildred Evans. She was disabled.
Survivors in addition to her father, include an aunt, Mrs. Isabelle Williams of Ypsilanti, Mich.; several cousins and other relatives; and a very close friend, Juanita Harrell. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Christopher Evans.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerome Shipman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her cousin, Mrs. Betty Dalls at 110 Shoal Creek Drive.
West Georgia Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
