Mrs. Hazel Key
Mrs. Mary Hazel Key, 85, of Smiths, Ala., formerly of Louise Street, died Monday at Phenix Regional Hospital in Phenix City, Ala.
Mrs. Key, born July 18 1915, in Meriwether County, was the daughter of Charlie Golden and Joicy Lee Phillips Grant. She had lived here most of her life before moving to Alabama three years ago. She retired from Dunson Mill after 38 years and service and was a member of Dunson Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters - in - law, Richard and Linda Key of Smiths and Curtis and Carol Key of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Martha Brinkman of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 10 grandchildren 13 great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hayde P. Key.
Funeral services will be at 11 p.m. Thursday at Dunson Baptist Church with the Revs. Billy Bryant and Andrew J. Hall officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road from 6 until 8.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Dunson Baptist Church in Memory of Mrs. Key.

Mrs. Lena Truitt of 20 Fulton St., died this morning at her home.

Norman McGhee of 901 Taft St., died Monday at his home.
The family will be at the home of his sister - in - law, Emma McGhee at 251 S. Kite Drive.
Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Larry Davis
Larry Davis of 110 West Meadoway Drive died Wednesday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Davis, a native of Troup County, was the son of the late Will Carter and Hattie Davis Callaway. He was a 1963 graduate of East Depot High School and an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He had worked for Westinghouse.
Survivors include two daughters and a son - in - law, Larynne Davis of LaGrange and Cathy and Reginald Hemp of Riverdale; two sons and daughters - in - law, Craig and Zaneta Davis and Larry and Devita Davis, all of LaGrange; four sisters and two brothers - in - law, Carrie and Earl Snell and Martha Perez, all of Jamaica, N.Y., Annie Laura Burton of LaGrange, and Mary Lee and Edward Anderson of Decatur; nine brothers and two sisters - in - law, Louis and Dorothy Parham of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Luther Callaway of Cleveland, Ohio, John and Juanita Broome of Brooklyn N.Y., George Brewer of Atlanta, Gary Brewer, Leon and Joann Brewer, Charles and Janette Brewer and Alvin Callaway all of LaGrange, Nathaniel and Mary Brewer of Palatka, Fla.; five sisters - in - law and a brother - in - law, Annie and George Kelley, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Theola Brewer, Francis Brewer, Ruby Brewer and Barbara White, all of LaGrange; seven grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Brewer Davis.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Arbor Grove Baptist Church with Dr. H.J. Long officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at her home.
A service by Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home.

Mrs. Addie Lee Burke
Mrs. Addie Lee Burke, 89, of Dalton, formerly of Roanoke and LaGrange, died Saturday at Ridgewood Manor Health Care in Dalton.
Mrs. Burke, born February 7, 1912, in Roanoke, Ala., was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Nonnie Essie Hood Brown. She had lived in Dalton since 1960 and retired from World Carpet there. She was a member of McFarland Hill Baptist Church in Dalton.
Survivors include three sons and daughters - in - law, David B. Jr. and Carolyn Nichols and Kenny and Elizabeth Nichols, all of Dalton, and Roswell Nichols of Macon; a daughter and son - in - law, Blanch and Joe Guy of Newnan; a stepdaughter and stepson - in - law, Charlene and Obrian Seymour of Wadley, Ala; a sister, Edna Noles of LaGrange; nine grandchildren, 16 great - grandchildren; great - great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 4 this afternoon at Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Brown officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service this afternoon.

Charles Hunsicker Jr., 52, of 202 Brookcrest died Thursday at West Georgia Medical Center.

Jessie Jackson
Jessie (Jack) Jackson, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of LaGrange, died in Cleveland.
Mr. Jackson, born in Troup County, was the son of the late Walter and Edna Jackson. He retired from the City of LaGrange Street Department and was an Army veteran. He was a member of McGhee Chapel A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include five sisters, Lucille McFarland of Cleveland, Ohio, Elizabeth McGhee of LaGrange, Emma Dunson of Dayton, Ohio, Mary Amos and Dolly Jackson, both of Atlanta; a stepdaughter, Mary Ford of LaGrange; two stepsons, the Rev. King Harris of Rome and Bobby Harris of LaGrange; and an adopted son, Kerry Cofield of LaGrange. He was preceded in death by his wives, Willie Jackson and Ella Jean Jackson.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at McGhee Chapel A.M.E. Church on Hammett Road with the Rev. J.C. Tate officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 54 in Hogansville.
The family will be at the home of his sister, Elizabeth McGhee, at 607 South Harlem Circle.

Lester C. Malone
Lester C. Malone, 86, of LaGrange, formerly of Marietta and Gay, died Thursday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Malone, born January 24, 1915, in Colton, Calif., was the son of the late William and Maude Pringle Malone. He retired as an engineer at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in Marietta. He had lived in LaGrange since 1986. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and Highland County Club.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia W. Malone of LaGrange; a son, . Bill Malone; a daughter, Shelley Malone, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Marianne W. Drake of Douglasville and Susan W. Martin of Fayetteville; a stepson, Dr. Glen M. Watson of LaFayette, La.; 12 grandchildren and three great - grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at st. Mark's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Lori M. Lowe officiating. A private entombment will be in Shadowlawn Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road tonight from 6 until 8.

Mrs. Eleanor Leapard
Mrs. Eleanor Elizabeth Burgess Leapard, 83, of 1405 Austin St., died Wednesday at her home.
Mrs. Leapard, born July 10, 1917, in Troup County, was the daughter of the late Charles Perry and Eula Beatrice Roberts Jones Green. She graduated from Rosemont School in 1932. She had lived here all of her life, and became Georgia's first full time female deputy sheriff and lady jailer in 1970 after spending 28 years as a painting contractor and was the first female painting contractor in Georgia. She was chief jailer and a lieutenant in the Troup County Sheriff's Department and supervised work crews for the City of LaGrange from 1986 until 1991. She retired from the city and the Sheriff's department. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Shirley Burgess and Robert Eller of Hammond, Ore.; a son and daughter - in - law, Charles O. and Alice Burgess of Big Clifty, Ky.; six grandchildren, Debbie Davidson of Nahalem, Ore., Mike Eller of Gearhart, Ore., Troy Eller of Warrenton, Ore., Becky Lee Burgess Neal of New Albany, Ind., David Gordon and Annette Hart, both of Big Clifty, Ky.; 12 great - grandchildren, a sister, Annie Mae Lett of Anniston, Ala., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hunter - Allen Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Lamar Womack officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at her home and will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 until 8.

Mrs. Martha Lovelace
Mrs. Martha Bell Lovelace, 52, died Wednesday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Lovelace, born July 15 1948, in Troup County, was the daughter of Mrs. Sarah Bell Hammett and the late Charlie Will Tatum. She was a graduate of Bethlehem Academy and had been a trainer/instructor at Inter face for 14 years. She was a former member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she was leader of the junior ushers and a current member of United in Christ Church of Deliverance where she served as mother of the church.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Walter Lovelace; two sons, Charlie Shells and Roger Shells; a daughter, Melissa Gray; a god daughter, Roberta Shells Scott; four brothers, Charlie Tatum, Roy Wilkerson, Wiley Wilkerson III, all of LaGrange, and Leon Wilkerson of Atlanta; sisters, Jarvis Lovelace of West Point, Linda Boddie of Charlotte, NC., Geraldine Cofield, Yvonne Love, Cora Wilkerson and Janice Wilkerson, all of LaGrange; six grandchildren, Crystal Shells, Cokethia Dunson, Ortegas Shells, Roemello Ashmore, Rodger Ashmore and Rio Ashmore, all of LaGrange; and stepfather, Willie Hammett.
Cryptside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 until 5 at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road.

Funeral services for Luther Simpson will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Atlanta.
Local survivors include a daughter, Keithia Simpson; two sisters - in - law, Louise Andrews and Margaret Andrews; three nieces, Gladys Wood, Joyce Wilburn and Rosa Culpepper; two nephews, Charles Andrews and Alvin Andrews; and an aunt, Annie M. Bishop.
Kelly and Leak Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
