Steven Ray Cantrell
Steven Ray 'Peanut' Cantrell, 29, of LaGrange and formerly of Stephens County, died Thursday.
Mr. Cantrell was born Aug. 7, 1972 in Stephens County. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary Elizabeth Ivester Cantrell and Harley Lee Cantrell and Georgia Bell Taylor Manley and John A. Manley. Mr. Cantrell was formerly employed by Southern Craftsman's Guild and was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church in Toccoa.
Survivors include hi wife, Tanya Cantrell of LaGrange; his father and step - mother, L.C. and Sara Barfield Cantrell of Carnesville; his mother and step - father, Mary and Bobby Pharr of Franklin; two sons, Dectric Taylor Cantrell and Rusty Alexander Cantrell, both of LaGrange; two brothers, Larry E. Cantrell of Gillsville, and Michael S. Cantrell of Franklin.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel in Baldwin, with the Revs. Clint Harper and Luther Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunshine United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Tillman officiating at the gravesite.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Bennett Floyd
Mr. Henry 'Bennett' Floyd, 85, of Oak Grove Community died Friday.
Mr. Floyd, born February 18, 1917 in Troup County, was the son of the late Henry Bennett and Hatti Irvin Floyd. He graduated from Chipley High School, receiving a bachelor of science degree from the University of Georgia, master of education from Auburn University, and SED from Auburn University.
Mr. Floyd was a World War II veteran, serving as a Navy radar specialist. He was a member of Oak Grove Congregational Church serving in various church offices, a Mason and active participate in community activities. Mr. Floyd retired from education after more than 30 years as a teacher and principal.
Survivors include his wife, Era W. Floyd of Pine Mountain; a daughter, Ellen Parkhurst and son - in - law, John Parkhurst of Arlington, Texas; three grandsons, Adam, Ashton, Christopher Parkhurst of Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Clyde Floyd of Atlanta, Kermit Floyd of Austell. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Floyd.
Gravside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oakgrove Congregational Christian Church.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 Saturday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or you may contribute to your favorite charity, church or civic organization. The family will be at 1943 Oak Grove Road.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kate F. Maddox
Mrs. Kate F. Maddox, formerly of 507 Brown St., died Monday at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Maddox, a native of Troup County, was the daughter of the late Paul and Lula Stenson Orsberry. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, John Willie Maddox (Virginia), George Lewis 'Sport' Maddox, Thomas Maddox (Lizzie); two daughters, Annie Clyde Williams, Marie Bruce (Minister James Bruce); nine grandchildren and their spouses, Willie Keith Maddox (Drusilla), Leo Delain Maddox (Cassandra), Tracy Renee Maddox, Horace Lee Williams Jr. (Jenny), Teresa Williams, Kelvin Darrell Maddox, Marcus LaKeith Maddox (Barbara), Reginald Lothario Ogletree, Soreno Michelle Swindle (Henry), all of LaGrange; 28 great - grandchildren; two sisters, Mandy Patterson and Lula Moore; stepson, Samuel Smith and family of Atlanta; three very special friends, Carolyn Thornton, Penny Coverson, Delois McQueen; sister - in - law, Mabel Wilhite of LaGrange; brother - in - law, George Maddox of Fort Valley, Ga.; devoted friend, Mattie Parks of LaGrange, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Maddox, two children, a grandson, Victor Maddox, three sisters, and five brothers.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Old Mount Olive Baptist Church on John Lovelace Road. The Rev. Michael Stenson and Apostle C.M. Chivers will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her daughter and son - in - law, Marie and James Bruce at 153 East Greenwich Circle.
A service by Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home.

Robert J. Rowe Sr.
Robert J. Rowe Sr. of Atlanta died Tuesday.
Local survivors include one son and daughter - in - law, Robert Jr. and Dorothy Rowe of LaGrange.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Carl Williams Funeral Home, 492 Larkin St., Atlanta. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery.

Matthew Hogan
Matthew Shawn Hogan, 19, of Easley, S.C., died Wednesday at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, S.C.
A resident of LaGrange most of his life, Mr. Hogan had lived in Easley for the past three months and was employed by BASF, Inc. Mr. Hogan was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include his mother and step - father, Deborah and Deryck White; two sisters, Katherine Johnson and Clara White, all of Lutherville, Md.; his grandmother, Jacqueline Cook; his great - grandmother, Floy Hale, both of Easley; an uncle and aunt, David and Pattie Driver; and cousins, Derrick Driver and Daniel Driver, all of Five Points, Ala.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Helen Henry will officiate. Interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight.

Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan, 38, of Sylacauga, Ala., died Sunday in Birmingham, Ala.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday (CST) at Hnady Cemetery in LaFayette, Ala., with the Rev. Cornelius Reese Jr. officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Marie; three step - daughters, Rigina, Angela, and Emiely; two brothers, Ben Jordan of Lanett, ala., and Raymond Jordan, Jr. of Hogansville, Ga.; a sister, Patricia Jordan of Atlanta; two devoted aunts, Mary Lois Showers of Sylacauga, Ala. and Mattie Mitchell of Birminham, Ala.; a loving mother - in - law, Willie Belle Fanning and two sisters - in - law, Dorothy Heard and Mary Arnold, all of LaGrange; a niece, Kelli and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
Mr. Jordan, born September 6, 1963 in Chambers County, Ala., had lived in Lanett before moving to the Sylacauga area. He was the manager of Handy TV and Appliance Store in Sylacauga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Juanita Jordan.
Vines Funeral Home, Inc., LaFayette, Ala. is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Shane Hall
Richard Shane Hall, 32, died Monday at Emory Eastside Medical Center in Snellville.
Mr. Hall, born May 18, 1970 in LaGrange, was the son of Kaye Dice of LaGrange and Jimmy Hall of Roanoke, Al.
Survivors include his mother and step - father, Kaye and Randy Dice of LaGrange, his father, Jimmy Hall; a sister, Nicole Hall; a brother, Tyler Hall, all of Roanoke, Ala.; grandmother, Vonice Nelson; loving and devoted companion, Vicki Thornton, and her children, Amanda Thornton, and Shawn Thornton, all of LaGrange.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Striffler - Hamby - Mortuary with the Rev. Charles Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Hillview East cemetery.
Visitation will be this evening from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Walter O. Langford
Walter Orrin Langford, 84, of Pine Mountain, Ga., died Monday, July 8 at his home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel, Hamilton, Ga. Visitation will be this evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Langford, born September 2, 1917 in LaGrange, was the son of Maude M. and George Thomas Langford. He was a retired assistant superintendent of the Machine and Rolls Shop with the Mesta Machine Company, in West Homestead, Pa.
Mr. Langford was United States Army veteran of World War II, serving as an MP in Germany. He was a member of Roosevelt Memorial Church in Pine Mountain Valley, a Mason, member of the American Legion and Auxiliary Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean B. Langford.
Survivors include George Stanley Langford and Walter O. Langford, both of Houston, Texas, and G. Patrick Langford of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a daughter, Lesa Marie Langford of Pine Mountain; a brother, Leonard L. Langford of Atlanta, and sister Elma L. Knight of Pine Mountain Valley; and four grandchildren.
Cox Funeral Home, Hamilton, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.

Anne Louise Cato
Anne Louise Cato of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Tuesday in New York.
Ms. Cato, a native of LaGrange, was the daughter of the late George and Inez Morgan Cato. She was a 1946 graduate of East Depot High School and 1951 graduate of Savannah State College with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. She was a medical technologist for Jamaica and Caladonia Hospitals.
Ms. Cato retired from Saint Mary's Hospital Catholic Medical Center in Brooklyn and was a member of Saint Phillips Episcopal Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Altanese Avivah Lezell; brother, George Cato of Brooklyn, N.Y.; sisters - in - law; nieces, nephews, great - nieces and great - nephews, the Cato, Paige and Thornton families of LaGrange and other relatives.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Warren Temple United Methodist Church. The Rev. W.T. Edmondson will officiate. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of Johnnie Cato at 123 Shoal Creek Drive.
A service by Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home.
