Mrs. Matsy Deal
Mrs. Matsy Deal 95, formerly of LaGrange, died Saturday in Savannah.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road.

Shirley S. Shephard
Memorial services for Ms. Shirley Strickland Shephard, 52, of Roanoke will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Rocky Mills Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. W.T. Edmondson and Jerome Fannin officiating.
Ms. Shephard, died Saturday at her home. She was a Randolph County resident most of her life, Ms. Shepherd was a Heard County, native, born March 27, 1950, daughter of Charlie Joe and Ruby Johnson Strickland. She was a member of Rocky Mills Missionary Baptist Church and had been a quality control supervisor with Terry Manufacturing Company.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Sims (husband, Jeffery) of Roanoke; two sons, Viondi Pate and Kevin Pate (wife, Wanda), also of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Andrew Sims, Cortney Sims, Persis Sims and Antavious Pate, all of Roanoke; six sisters, Willo Terry (husband, Roy) of Roanoke, Kathleen James of Davenport, Iowa, Marian Augustus (husband, Mark) and, Barbara Stitt all of Kansas City, Kan., Lillian Finch (husband, Leroy), and Mary Strickland Terry, all of Atlanta; a brother, Charlie Strickland, (wife, Irene) of Roanoke; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ruby Strickland; a grandson, Jeffrey Jamal Sims; and a sister, Anna Pool.
The family will be receiving friends at Ms. Shephard's residence: 816 Oakcrest Drive, Roanoke.
Quattlebaum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Irene Powell Levens
Mrs. Irene Powell Levens, 85, of the Big Springs community died Friday at Brian Center of Nursing Care.
Mrs. Levens was born on March 21, 1917 in Clay County, Ala., daughter of the late Homer and Missouri Johnson Powell.
Wife of the late Leonard Levens, she had lived in Troup County most of her life and was a member of Big Springs United Methodist Church. She had retired from the Dunson Division of WestPoint Pepperell.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Margaret and Larry Craig of Big Springs; a grandson and his wife, Mike and Donna Craig of Big Springs; a granddaughter and her husband, Lisa and Robert Davis of Big Springs; and four great - grandchildren, Jennifer Davis and Steven Davis, both of Big Springs, and Justin Craig and Rachel Craig, both of Panama City, Fla.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Restlawn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Robert Humphries officiating.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.

Mr. James Stinson, formerly of 105 Niles St., died Saturday at West Georgia Medical Center.
The family will be at the home of Henry and Lula Stinson at 731 N. Greenwood St., and Terry Stinson at 1005 Stonewall St.
A service by Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home.

John C. Cardwell
John C. Cardwell, 49, of LaGrange died Saturday morning at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Cardwell was born in LaGrange on Feb. 21, 1953, son of the late Floyd and Lorene Norton Cardwell. A life - long resident of LaGrange, he was a self - employed painter and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Cardwell of LaGrange; one daughter, Tracy Tanner of LaGrange; two sons, Donny Tanner of Alabama and Thomas Tanner of Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Debra Cardwell and Cheryl Schlicher; two brothers, Danny Cardwell, and Robin and Karen Cardwell, all of LaGrange; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Monday at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Striffler - Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. Fred Buchanan officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 p.m. Monday until the funeral hour.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Lou Williamson, 98, of Carrollton will be Monday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Johnny Williamson will officiate and interment will be in the Corinth Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this afternoon from 3 until 5 o'clock.

Robert Lewis Huguley, 49, of St. Paul, Minn., died Friday.
The family will be at the home of his mother, Mrs. Annie Williams, at 804 Murphy Ave.

Graveside services for Willie Joe Prophitt, 67, of Hogansville will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The Rev. R.C. Prescott will officiate and interment will be with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Sunday at the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.

Jackie Bonita Tucker
Jackie Bonita Tucker, 40, of 108 Belk St., died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
She was a native of Troup County and was the daughter of Lois Tucker and the late Charlie Lewis Tucker. At an early age she became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was a member of the junior usher board and later became a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and the senior usher board. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School and was employed at Guardian Automotive LaGrange Moulding.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include a son, Ceon Tucker; a special cousin, Denise Davis Moody of LaGrange; and a number of aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Smyrna Baptist Church with the Rev. Lonnie Walls officiating. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of Denise Moody at 129 Youngs Mill Road and at the home of Juanita Davis at 120 Royal Court.
A service by Mackey - Wilson - Jennings Funeral Home.

Lillie Phillips
Mrs. Lillie Mae Turman Phillips, 63, of 601 Glenn Robertson Drive died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Phillips, born September 2, 1939, in Heard County, was the daughter of the late Ernest Turman and Minnie Pearl Green. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Temple Church of Deliverance.
Survivors include three daughters, Marchelle Phillips, Delores Phillips, and Angela Phillips, all of LaGrange; six grandchildren, Tamekia, Scottie, Irvin, Tiffany, Dasha and Demario; four sisters, Louise Bradfield and Peggy Hendricks, both of Franklin, Shirley Burden of Columbus and Brenda Turman of New Jersey; seven brothers, L.C. Turman, Horace Turman, Jeffery Turman of Franklin, Lonzell Turman and Walter Burden of LaGrange; Bobby Turman of Detroit, Mich., and Walter Turman of Atlanta; and numerous nieces nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Phillips.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at State Line Baptist at 112 Glenn Road in Franklin with the Revs. Ollie Simpson and W.T. Edmondson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home this evening from 7 until 8.

Mrs. Gleemah Fincher
Mrs. Gleemah Shaw Fincher, 97, of 3051 New Franklin Road died Thursday at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Fincher, born March 11, 1905, in Randolph County, Ala., was the daughter of the late James Angus and Mary Elizabeth Baldwin Shaw. She had lived here most of her life and was formerly employed at Callaway Mills. She was also a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and was a member of Smyrna Pentecostal Fire Baptized Holiness Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Runette Smith of LaGrange; five grandchildren and their spouses: Jenny and Milton Gray of Tallahassee, Fla., Lisa and Chris Cleaveland of LaGrange, Carole and Tom Alley of Matthews, N.C., Luanne Fincher, Madison, Ala., Ken and Gail Smith of Carrollton; 11 great - grandchildren and a spouse, John Eric and Kim Smith of Auburn, Ala., Ryan Golden and Marshall Golden of Tallahassee, Fla., Ethan Smith of Carrollton, Larkin Cleaveland and Jenna Cleaveland of LaGrange; Heather Clark of Milton Fla., Jordan Alley and Joanna Alley of Matthews, N.C., Steve Freeman of Madison, Ala., and Jeremy Golden of Ohio; two great - grandchildren, Tristen Clark of Milton Fla., and Brittney Golden of Ohio; three sisters, Bonnie Spears and Inez Stephens, both of LaGrange and Lorene Knott of Powder Springs; a brother and sister - in - law, John and Lera Shaw of Fredonia, Ala.; a daughter - in - law, Bobbye Fincher of LaGrange; a son - in - law, Riley Golden of Tallahassee, Fla.: and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glumer Lee Fincher, sisters and brothers, Bessie Cantrell, Myrtle McKee, Nettie Lou Holley, Horace Shaw, Carlis Shaw, Eris Hester and Arlie Shaw.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand chapel with the Revs. Wallace Pittman Jr., Mike Powell and Curtis Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
The family will be at her home and will receive friends this evening at Hospice LaGrange from 6 until 8 and Saturday evening at the funeral home from 7 until 9.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Smyrna Pentecostal Fire Baptized Holiness Church in memory of Mrs. Fincher.

Samuel Powell
Samuel Powell of 510B Alford St., died Wednesday at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Powell; three grandchildren, Sheila Gainey, Ty'ree Gainey and Stephanie Gainey; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday at noon in the West Georgia Mortuary chapel with the Rev. Max Riley officiating.
The family will be at his home.
