Jamie Tyson Dodd
Mrs. Jamie Tyson Dodd, 90, of Macon, formerly of Ocean Side, N.Y. died June 27, 2003 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
Mrs. Dodd, born Nov. 24, 1912, was the daughter of the late Dr. William Ainsworth and Jimmie Hatfield Tyson and was a 1934 graduate of Wesleyan College, where she was an active and generous alumni.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Marlo Jean Dodd Simmons and her husband, Brett of Hartland, Vt. a grandson, Mark Weimont Dodd of Mountain View, Calif.; great - grandchildren, Mitchell Cameron Simmons and Delaney Karen Simmons, both of Hartland, Vt.; a nephew, Samuel Eugene Tyson Jr., of Augusta; and a niece, Beryl Tyson Usry of Rock Hill, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Cleveland Dodd, a son, Grover Cleveland (Chuck) Dodd Jr., and a grandson, Michael Jon Dodd.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hillview Cemetery with the Rev. Helen Henry officiating.
Hunter - Allen - Myhand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John Hicks
John Hicks, of 602 Borton St., died Wednesday at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
The family will be at his home and at 1101 Avenue K in West Point.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home.

Julia L. Jones
Mrs. Julia Lee Jones of 114 Locust St., died Sunday at the West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Jones, a native of Troup County, was born September 25, 1934 and was the daughter of Rosie Mae Towns and the late John Redd. She was a retired cafeteria worker at LaGrange High School and was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Johnny C. Jones of LaGrange; two sisters, Mary Redd and Ella Mae Broome, both of Atlanta; two aunts, Carrie Anderson of Jacksonville, Fla. and Helen Bragg of Cleveland, Ohio; extended family of the Broughton and Marchman families; special cousin, Chandra Cole of LaGrange; devoted friends, Velma Truitt and Sallie McGhee; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Union Chapel United Methodist Church on Hammett Road. The Rev. Frank Dean will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at her home and at 401 Bacon Street.
Lakes - Dunson - Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret R. LeMieux
Mrs. Margaret Rosalene LeMieux, 85, of LaGrange died Wednesday Nov. 12, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. LeMieux, born March 28, 1918, in LaGrange was the daughter of the late Alex A. and Rosa Alma Kersey Poolos. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son Alex; two grandsons, Dorian and Gage; a sister, Helen Shade of LaGrange; two brothers and sisters - in - law, Clark and Aniese Poolos of Huntsville, Ala., and Richard and Lillian Poolos of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother - in - law and sisters - in - law, Kenneth and Delsie McLeroy of LaGrange and Dot McLeroy of Hogansville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry LeMieux.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm. Friday in the Hunter - Allen - Myhand chapel with Pastor Tommy McLeroy officiating. Burial will be in Hillview East Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Hospice LaGrange in memory of Mrs. LeMieux.

Roy L. Arrington
Roy Lamar Arrington 53, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003 at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Arrington, born June 4, 1950, in Franklin, was the son of Mrs. Pearl Arrington of LaGrange and the late Ervin Arrington. He was a 1969 graduate of LaGrange High School and was employed by I.T.W. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a sister, Joyce Brown of LaGrange; a brother and sister - in - law, Tony and Cathy Arrington of West Point; nieces and nephews, Charles and Nicole Brown, Michael and Linda Arrington, Kevin and Jennifer Allen, Ronnie and Wendy Braggs, and T.C. and Amy Arrington all of LaGrange and Joseph Arrington of West Point; and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Rodger Arrington.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Striffler - Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. Charles Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Liberty East Baptist Church Cemetery in Omaha, Ala.
The family will receive friends at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary this evening from 6 until 8.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice LaGrange at 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange, Ga. 30240.

Dr. Cecil P. Major
Dr. Cecil P. Major, 74, of LaGrange died Sunday at Hospice LaGrange.
Dr. Major, born Nov. 2, 1929, in Beech Creek, Ky., was the son of the late Monroe and Zoye Thompson Major. He had lived in LaGrange for 45 years and practiced medicine for 43 1/2 years at Clark - Holder Clinic. He was a member of Broad Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years Glenda R. Major; four children and their spouses, Dr. Grant and Becky Major, Dr. Paul and Katie Major, Mel and Pam Major, all of LaGrange and Mignon and Marc Mandon of Asheville, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, Lauren Major, Ralston Major, John Woody Major, Georgia Mignon Major, Corley Major Lynch Major, Leah Major, Glenn Major and Elizabeth Major, all of LaGrange, and Daniel Mandon, Lee Mandon and Jenny Mandon, all of Asheville, N.C.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Broad Street Church of Christ with Minister Gary Kirkendall, Brother Mark Hearn and Jerry Willis officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary this evening from 5 until 9.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested by the family of Dr. Major that donations please be made to Hospice LaGrange or to the Athletic Endowment Fund at LaGrange College in memory of Dr. Major.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry W. McWhorter
Jerry W. McWhorter, 59, of Hogansville, died Monday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. McWhorter, born June 29, 1944, in Coweta County, was the son of the late Robert Lee and Lorene Ivey McWhorter. He lived in Hogansville most of his life, was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Hogansville. He was a retired printing press operator.
Survivor include two sons and daughters - in - law, Wayne and Alicia Jackson of Grantville and Tim and Vicki Jackson of Ephesus; three sisters and brothers - in - law, Peggy Pike Harris, of Hogansville, Libby and Mike Freeman of Franklin, and Colleen and Stanley Rogers of Grantville; a brother and sister - in - law, Billy and Jean McWhorter of Hogansville; five grandchildren; nine nephews and six nieces. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Williamson and Geneva Littleton, and a brother, Ray McWhorter.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville with Pastors Stanley Rogers and Randy Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friend this evening at the funeral home from 7 until 9.

Maurine Williamson
Mrs. Maurine H. Williamson, 80, of LaGrange died Sunday at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Williamson, born Feb. 1, 1923, in Heard County, was the daughter of the late Rufus Sr. and Vesta Robertson Hester. She had lived here more than 60 years and retired from International Playtex. She was a member of Southwest LaGrange Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Freida and Mike Murphy of Rock Hill, S.C. two sons and daughters - in - law, H.C. and Ann Williamson of Gainesville Fla., and Larry and Norma Williamson of LaGrange; a brother, Russ Hester of Dacula; a sister, Frances Bailey of LaGrange; six grandchildren, Angela Hendrix of Savannah, Robert Murphy of Rock Hill, S.C., Tanya Van Winkle and Tasya Williamson both of Gainesville, Fla., and Michael Williamson and Michelle Lillard, both of Orlando, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Clyde Williamson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Southwest LaGrange Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Buchanan officiating. Burial will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at 211 Ashford Circle and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 8.
In lieu of flowers those desiring may contribute to Southwest LaGrange Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Williamson.

Willie Mae Barnes
Mrs. Willie Mae Barnes, 90, formerly of Grantville, died Sunday at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.
Mrs. Barnes, born April 4, 1913, in Meriwether County, was the daughter of the late Albert and Elvira Bowen Burdette. Before moving to Newnan in 1997, she lived in Grantville for 55 years. She was a member of Allen - Lee Memorial United Methodist Church and retired from Playtex International. After her retirement, she was a private duty home care nurse.
Survivors include a daughter and son - in - law, Nancy and Jimmy Quick of Greenville; a son and daughter - in - law, James H. and Ryvonne Barnes of Newnan; a brother Bill Burdette of Red Top Mountain, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Chris Stamps of Madras, Casey Stamps of Lone Oak and Tommy Harris of Albany.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Allen - Lee Memorial United Methodist Church in Lone Oak with the Rev. Richard Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allen - Lee Memorial United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friend this evening from 6 until 9 at the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville.

Laura Kresses
Mrs. Laura Darko Kresses, 36, of LaGrange died Sunday at her home.
Mrs. Kresses, born October 12, 1967, in Gainesville, and was the daughter of Mrs. Joanne Mitchell Darko and the late John T. Darko. She was a devoted mother and very active in the P.T.O. with Ethel Kight Elementary School, , and was employed by the Troup County School System as a substitute teacher. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and was well known for her cake baking at the church.
In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband of 11 years, Bart Kresses: two sons Eli and Andrew Kresses, all of LaGrange; one sister and brother - in - law, Karen Darko and Tom Embry; one brother, John Darko, all of Atlanta; father - in - law and mother - in - law, Sid and Lee Kresses of Atlanta; brother - in - law and sister - in - law, Jay and Melanie Kresses of Jonesboro, and Mamie Kresses and David Weiss of Bethesda, MD.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death, by one sister, Kathleen Darko.
Rosary services will be held Tuesday evening at 5 p.m. St. Peter's Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
Funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, LaGrange. Burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. in Arlington Cemetery in Atlanta.
Striffler - Hamby Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
