Billy Lamar Bateman
Billy Lamar Bateman, age 71, of McDonough, Georgia died November 16, 2005. Mr. Bateman was born December 16, 1933 in Fulton County, the son of the late Nan D. Wheeler and Revel Freeman Bateman, Sr. He was handicapped since birth and was known as a true survivor.
He is survived by his siblings, R. F. Bateman Jr. and wife Jean of McDonough, and Jeanette Kruse and husband Alfred of Biloxi, Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Saturday, November 19 at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park, with Rev. John Purrington officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

James Rayford Amos
James Rayford "Jim" Amos, age 54, of Fayetteville, Georgia died November 17, 2005. Mr. Amos was born September 5, 1951 in Fulton County, the son of the late William Ford and Annie Lee Walker Amos. He was owner/ operator of Round Up Motors in Forest Park, was on old car buff, and loved a good Black Jack cigar. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Amos; and a sister, Patricia McGill.
He is survived by his wife of over 35 years, Sharon Amos of Fayetteville; son, Ken Amos of Fayetteville; daughter, DeAndrea Sealey of Hampton; granddaughters, Destiny and Amber Sealey; sister, Barbara and Robert Culver of Stockbridge; numerous foster brothers and sisters.
Services were held November 21 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. James Kenner officiating. Interment College Park Cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Clarence E. Ooley
Colonel Clarence E. Ooley, USAF, Retired, age 87, of Mc-Donough, Georgia died Nov-ember 20, 2005. Col. Ooley was born November 21, 1917 in Spencer, Indiana. He retired after 17 years in the Marines and 13 years in the Air Force. He was a Veteran of WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He attended Indiana University where he played with 1940 National Championship Basketball Team. He enjoyed all types of sports. He was the last surviving of 11 children. He enjoyed for many years singing with his brothers. He was the widower of the love of his life, Patricia A. Ooley after 57 years of marriage. After retirement they enjoyed traveling and he enjoyed gardening. He had a very special interest in adoption.
He is survived by his daughter, Gloria and Milton D. Nitz of McDonough; grandson, David and Cheree Nitz; great-grandchildren, Eric and Lauren Nitz, all of Jackson; and brother-in-law, Roy Turner of Hudson, Florida.
Services were held November 22 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Dr. Jimmy Baughcum officiating. Interment Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Continuing the Journey Fund at Eagles Landing First Baptist Church, 2400 Hwy 42 N., McDonough, Georgia, 30253. Gary L. Chapman
Gary L. Chapman, age 57, of McDonough, Georgia died November 20, 2005. Mr. Chap-man was born December 11, 1947 in Fulton County, the son of the late Katherine Elizabeth Bolton Chapman. He was a 1965 graduate of Roosevelt High School, was of the Methodist faith, was retired after 30 years with the Atlanta Fire Depart-ment, and was a member of the Firefighters Association. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Arlene Chapman; children, Angela and Raymond McMillan of Williamson, Stacy and Adam Schreffler of Newnan, Bill Cook of Milner, Donna Orr of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Lisa Cook and Laramie Orr; father, Loren Chapman of McDonough.
Service were held November 23 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Chaplain William Davis officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation, 2575 Chantily Drive, Atlanta, Georgia, 30324 in memory of Mr. Chapman. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Hortense P. Henley
Hortense P. Henley, age 89, of Locust Grove, Georgia died November 21, 2005. Mrs. Henley was born October 11, 1916 in Dublin, the daughter of the late William Frank and Jessie Pauline Upchurch Prior. She retired from Southern Bell, was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Hillpatrick Chapter #441 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Locust Grove United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Eugene Henley; uncle, Theodore Lang Upchurch; and Sam and Rosa Fogg.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ann L. Henley of Locust Grove; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles (Tag) and Bernice Henley of Griffin; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services were held November 22 at Locust Grove Cemetery, with Rev. Doug Gilreath officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Frank Combs
Frank Combs, age 89, of Locust Grove, Georgia died November 22, 2005. Mr. Combs was born August 3, 1916 in Henry County, the son of the late Georgia Odell and Floy Davis Combs. He retired in 1972 after 30 years with the Atlanta Army Depot, was a member of the Locust Grove First Baptist Church, where he was the oldest deacon, and was a member of the Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnell Jackson Combs; children, Wayne and Aggie Combs of Locust Grove, Jack and Lynne Combs of Locust Grove, LaNell Combs of Jackson; grandchildren, Brandon, Kristen, Joshua, and Kyle Combs; great-granddaughter, Emily Combs; brother, Ralph and Carolyn Combs of McDonough.
Services were held November 25 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Mr. Julian Wells officiating. Interment Locust Grove Cemetery. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Zona S. Martin
Zona S. Martin, age 95, of Stockbridge, Georgia died Nov-ember 24, 2005. Mrs. Martin was born December 16, 1909 in Cumming. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, T.D. Martin; daughter, Alice Diane Baker; and grandson, Zack Martin.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Jerry) Tolbert of Stockbridge; son, Thomas David (Kathy) Martin of Monroe; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Gerald Baker.

Eugene Clyde Mathis
Eugene Clyde Mathis, age 71, of Riverdale, Georgia died November 24, 2005. Mr. Mathis was born January 6, 1934 in Gilmer County, the son of the late Clyde Wheeler Mathis. He was a 1953 graduate of North Clayton Senior High School, served his country in the U.S. Army, retired after over 33 years with Delta Airlines, was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Riverdale, Masonic Lodge #454 College Park, and Past Patron of the Eastern Star of College Park. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Thomas Mathis in 1999.
He is survived by his son, Mark and Susan Mathis of Lemoyne, Pennsylvania; mother, Vida Mathis of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Ashley Mathis of Atlanta, Lesley and Stuart Mathis of Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, Lauren and Cameron Geter of Warm Springs; sisters, Mildred and Ken Huggins of Meansville, Marlene and Harold McLain of Stockbridge.
Services were held Sunday, November 27 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Earl Pirkle officiating. Interment Westminster Memorial Gardens. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

David A. Brannan
David A. Brannan, age 86, of McDonough, Georgia died Nov-ember 14, 2005. Mr. Brannan was born in Flippen, the son of the late George Arthur and Cora Kate Fields Brannan. He served in the 155th Infantry Regiment (Dixie Division) and was an active participant in their annual reunions for over 15 years. He served in the Civilian Conserv-ation Corps and was an Army Veteran of WWII, serving in New Guinea and the Southern Phillipines (Liberation). He was the recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge. He retired after 30 years with General Motors. He was very active with Flippen United Methodist Church, helping with the actual construction. and was the past Sunday School Superintendent, a member of the choir, and a leader in fundraising for the church. He loved the outdoors, working in his garden that supplied many with fresh vegetables, and took any opportunity that he could to go fishing. He was a jack of all trades who was loved by many and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Eunice Laura Nail Brannan.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Brannan; sons, David Carey (Jane) Brannan of Ken-nesaw, and Donald A. Brannan of McDonough; step-daughter, Lynda Bunn (David) Almand of McDonough; step-sons, Andrew Carey (Paulette) Bunn of Locust Grove, Alan Paul (Leeann) Bunn of Ellijay; sisters, Nancy (Ted) Strickland of Stockbridge, and Grace Lenic of Stockbridge; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
