Mrs. Ollie Loretta Matthews
Mrs. Ollie Loretta Matthews, 86, of Whitesburg, Ga. died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003 at her residence.

Mrs. Matthews was born March 20, 1917 to Elizio and Leverna (Rose) Perry. She was a nursing assistant at Nurse Care in Riverdale, Ga. and a member of Open Door Baptist Church. Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her husband Marion Matthews.

Funeral services will be held graveside at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Palmetto, Ga. on Monday, Sept. 29, 2003 at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Donald Myers. Visitation was Sunday evening, Sept. 28, 2003.

Survivors include her daughter Joyce L. Bradley of Whitesburg; grandson Toby Wayne Butler of McDonough; and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Joyce Williamson Billingsley
Mrs. Joyce Williamson Billingsley, 61, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died Sept. 26, 2003.

Mrs. Billingsley, born May 26, 1942 in Anniston, Ala., was an instructor at the Beauty College of America.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Charles F. (Frank) Billingsley Sr., Sharpsburg; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles F. (Chuck and Lisa) Billingsley Jr., McDonough; Randy Billingsley, Atlanta; sister, Linda Toth, Newnan; grandchildren, Blake, Brock and Brooke Billingsley.

A funeral was Monday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Dr. Tom Daughtery and Rev. Steve Clark officiating. Entombment at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Lucille L. Camp, 84, of Phenix City, Alabama., died Sept. 28, 2003 at St. Francis Hospital.

She was born Dec. 5, 1918 in Wilkerson County, Ga. to the late Carrie Elizabeth Holloway Lee and the late Forest Edgar Lee. She was a spinner at Swift Mills. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Stars. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William L. Born Sr., Mitchell Parker and James B. Camp Sr.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 at Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike McKnight officiating. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th St., Phenix City, AL.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Eloise and James B. Camp Jr. of Newnan, Ga.; three sons and daughters-in-law, William and June Boren of Phenix City, AL, Curtis and Marilyn Boren of Dallas, GA, Leslie and Jane Boren of Dothan, AL; three brothers, George W. Lee of Ocala, FL, Willard T. Lee of Lynchburg, VA, Grady E. Lee of Harvest, AL; twelve grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Vrana and Tom Hunt of Houston, TX, and Marilyn Anita and Paul Liddell of Kansas City, MO.

Mr. Robert W. "Bob" Gable Sr.
Mr. Robert W. "Bob" Gable Sr., 72, of Richmond, Virginia, died Sept. 28, 2003.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Bobbie; and sister, Betty Cooley.

Surviving are daughter, Marian Moody and husband, Sam, of Beaverdam, VA; son, Robert W. Gable Jr. of Chicago, Ill.; sister, Beverly Keeble and husband, John, of Newnan, Ga.; four grandchildren, Rebecca Moody, Allison Moody, Brandon Gable and Nicole Gable; dear friend, Marion Mathews.

Mr. Gable retired from the Navy and Phillip Morris and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 6364, the Fraternal Order of Eagles chapter 4211, Lakeside Moose Lodge 1714, and Legion 148.

The remains are at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23111 where family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and were services will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1. Burial will be in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Joanne Keating
Mrs. Joanne Keating, 73, of Peachtree City, Ga., died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003 at Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Ga.

She was a longtime employee of the PAPP Clinic in Newnan, working in the billing office.

Surviving are her children, Michael Preston of Las Vegas, Mary Preston of Chicago, Eileen Preston Baldwin of Peachtree City, Laura Preston of Chicago and Matthew Preston of Chicago.

The family plans to have a memorial service to be announced later in the week.

Mr. Charles "Charly" Sones
Mr. Charles "Charly" Sones, 44, of Newnan, Ga., died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003 at his home.

He was born Dec. 4, 1958 to Gisela Sones and the late Edward Sones. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a communications technician with AT&T.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. at the Newnan Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife, Karen Ann Sones of Newnan; sons, Christian Taylor Sones and Christopher Michael Sones; and mother, Gisela F. Sones of Lawton, OK.

Mrs. Elizabeth Orr Hunter
Mrs. Elizabeth Orr Hunter, 77, of McKown Road in Douglasville, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at the Wellstar Douglas Hospital following an extended illness.

Mrs. Hunter was born Oct. 22, 1925, in Coweta County to the late Robert Edward Orr and Mary Elizabeth Wheelus Hunter.

She married Murphy Hunter on Dec. 24, 1943. In her early years, she was of the Methodist faith but later became Baptist. A member of Beulah Baptist Church in Douglasville, she was an auditor at Sears and was retired from Shirley of Atlanta. She was a charter member of #289 Eastern Star and was a Swirl with the Sweetwater Shrine.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her son, Robert Murphy Hunter; a sister, Hilda O. Johnson; and brothers, Robert Edward Orr Jr., Billy A. Orr and James Orr.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hunter will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home. Rev. Danny Watters and Rev. Bobby Hunter will officiate. Internment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery in Paulding County, with Robby Hunter, Stephen Hunter, Robert Taylor, Tim Millians, Dan Meadows and Tommy McGee serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglas Chapel on Saturday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Murphy Hunter of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Theresa Hunter of Douglasville; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jack Millians of Coweta County; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dewey and Mary Alice Hunter of Austell, Ga., and Irene Meadows of Paulding County, Ga.; two grandchildren, Robby and Shelly Hunter of Douglasville and Stephen Hunter of Douglasville; four great-grandchildren, Brett Hunter, Blake Hunter, Caleb Hunter and Cason Hunter; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Clifford Matthews
Mr. Clifford Matthews, 73, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Newnan Hospital after an extended illness.

Mr. Matthews was born in Coweta County in 1930 where he spent most of his life. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict. After returning home, he made residential construction his life's work. He will be remembered as a loving father and good friend.

Funeral services for Mr. Matthews will be Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at 3 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home. Minister George Wright will officiate.

Survivors include three sons, Jeffrey Sims, William Matthews and his wife Pauline, and Billy Matthews and his wife Deborah; two daughters, Tina Clements and husband Gerald of Grantville and Clifford Ann Mosqueda and husband Manuel of Hogansville; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Thomas (Tommy) David McKeehan

Mr. Thomas (Tommy) David McKeehan, 77, of 371 Pylant St. in Senoia, passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at Kendrett Hospital in Atlanta.

Mr. McKeehan was born Nov. 17, 1925, in LaGrange to the late David A. and Mary S. Wilson McKeehan. He had lived in Senoia for the past 14 years after retiring as an antiques dealer. A member of the Senoia City Council, he is considered by many to be Senoia's "One Man Cultural Center."

In 1948, after serving in the U.S. Navy, he was the first male to enroll in LaGrange College in 135 years. He spent nearly four decades in theatre, in both Miami and New York. He worked in all aspects of the theatre, including acting, directing and set construction.

Funeral services for Mr. McKeehan will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church in LaGrange. Bro. Bobby Robinson will officiate. Family and friends will receive friends at his home and at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home in LaGrange from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Survivors include six sisters and one brother-in-law, Arietta Bailey of Warner Robbins, Ga., Alverda Mims of Canton, Ga., Laverne Yarborough of LaGrange, Mary Jane Proctor of Jacksonville, Fla., Nira Lene Martin of Locust Grove, Ga., and Bonnie J. and Jack S. Thomas of Stone Mountain. Ga.; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Linda L. McKeehan of Corinth, Ga.; and one aunt, Ruby Mayhew of Lawrenceville, Ga.

Mr. Larry Wayne Norton

Mr. Larry Wayne Norton, 52, of Hogansville, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003.

Born May 14, 1952 in LaGrange, Mr. Norton was the son of the late Ernest Paul Norton and the late Elizabeth Gay Norton. A Baptist, he lived in Troup County most of his life and worked as a carpet installer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Norton.

Funeral Services for Mr. Norton will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Bryan Geter will officiate, and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Worthy-Norton of Hogansville; one daughter, Randi Worthy of Hogansville; two sons, Larry Wayne Brown of Raonoke. Ala. and Nathan Worthy of LaGrange; two sisters, Mary Alice Lynch of Franklin and Bette Carpenter of West Point; two brothers, Bobby Norton of Franklin and Ernest Norton of LaGrange; one step-sister, Myra Hutter of Charleston, S.C.; three step-brothers, Spencer Butler, Lowell Butler and Jimmy Butler, all of LaGrange; two grandchildren, Courtney Brown and Nathan Worthy Jr.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
