Mrs. Juanita Reagin Bentley of Palmetto, Ga., died September 9, 2003..

Mrs. Bentley retired from Sloan Paper Company after 30 years of service.

Surviving are husband, Charles Bentley of Palmetto; daughters and son-in-law, Phyllis Bentley, Palmetto; Jim and Lavonne Gaines, Fairburn; son and daughter-in-law, David and Pam Bentley, Tyrone; three grandchildren, Robert Gaines, Andrew Gaines and Jaclyn Bentley; nieces and nephews.

A funeral is Friday, Sept. 12 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Rev. Ralph Bobo officiating. Burial in Holly Hill Memorial Park.

The family was receiving friends Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Richard William Bradley, 70, of Luthersville, Ga., died Friday, September 5, 2003, at his home.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14 at Luthersville Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Felder officiating.

Born Sept. 28, 1932, in Highland Park, Michigan, Mr. Bradley was an Army veteran of the Korean War. A former resident of the Detroit area, he had lived in Georgia for a number of years and was employed as a delivery driver.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Janet Greiger of Lady Lake, Florida, and Mrs. Marianne Gay of Lansing, Michigan; a number of friends, including James Redwine of Luthersville.

Mr. Garland R. Hartley
Mr. Garland R. Hartley, 87, of Hogansville, Ga., died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003 at his home.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with Dr. Bob Atkins officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Hartley was born Oct. 12, 1915 in Haralson County, son of the late David and Willie Vines Hartley. A U.S. Army veteran of World War Two, Mr. Hartley had lived in Hogansville since 1955, was a retired policeman and was a member of the Baptist Church.

Surviving are one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bill Lloyd of Woodstock; brother, Charles Hartley of Hogansville; several nieces and nephews.

His wife, Myrle Wood Hartley, preceded him in death.

Mrs. India Smith Parker
Mrs. India Smith Parker, 89, of Newnan, Ga., died at her home Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 10, 2003 after an extended illness.

Mrs. Parker was born in Dawson County in 1913 to Rex and Ola Mae Grindle. She spent most of her life in East Point where she was a member of Center Park Baptist Church. She moved to the Newnan area after the death of her husband, Mr. J. D. Parker, to live with her daughter, Betty.

Mrs. Parker's primary interest in life was her family, and she devoted her time to caring for them and her home. So much in fact that she claimed to have lost her own identity and became known as "Granny" to everyone. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and cooking and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving are son, Joel Smith and his wife, Faye, of Atlanta; four daughters, Hattie Barr and her husband Bobby of Covington, Wilma Griffin of East Point, Mildred Thompson and her husband Earnest of Palmetto, and Betty Wheeler and her husband Jim of Newnan; two brothers, Ford and R. D. Brindle, both of Gainesville; sister, Annie Mae Crumley of Gainesville; 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Smith and J. D. Parker; a son, Frank Smith; two daughters, Ella Mae and Katie Ruth; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home 6-8 p.m. Friday evening, Sept. 12. A funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Holly Hills Cemetery in Fairburn, Ga.

Mrs. Grace L. Phillips of College Park died September 9, 2003.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Richard Harper, St. George Island, FL; Gail and Joe Dunlap, Sharpsburg; Patricia and Randy Barrett, Fairburn; son and daughter-in-Law, Larry and Janet Phillips, Stockbridge; sister, Shirley Evans, Fairburn; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be Friday, Sept. 12, 2003 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Rev. Dean Haun officiating. Burial in Holly Hill Memorial Park.

The family was receiving friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Jeremiah Robinson of Newnan, Ga. died Sept. 8, 2003.

A funeral is Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Powell Chapel United Methodist Church. Rev. Joe P. Geter officiating, assisted by other ministers. Burial in Eastview Cemetery.

Pallbearers are nephews. Honorary pallbearers are the United Methodist Men.

Mr. Robinson was born the twelfth of 15 children to the late Mr. and Mrs. Larry (Jennie Scott) Robinson. He was educated in Coweta County. He served his country in the U.S. Army and Air Force as a staff sergeant and fought in World War II. He was married to the late Ruby Solomon and they had three children. A daughter, Betty R. Thomas, preceded him in death. He was a member of Powell Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Carolyn) Dillard of Atlanta; son, Larry Robinson of Newnan; daughter-in-law, Martha Robinson of Atlanta; sister, Addie Robinson of Newnan; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; seven sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Little Miss Carletha "Sunshine" Taggart was born July 9, 2003 to Miss Iris Taggart and died Sept. 6 at Newnan Hospital.

Surviving in addition to her mother are brother, Victor Latrell Taggart; grandparents, Toney and Elnada Ware of Carrollton, Ga.; grandmother, Diane (Willie) Brown of Carrollton, Ga.; grandparents, George (Tammy) Montgomery of Tuscaloosa, AL; uncles and aunts, Nicholas, George, Whitney, Rodney; great-grandmothers, Elnora Taggart of Newnan, Ga. and Annie Ware of Buchanan, Ga.; great-grandmother, Georgia Montgomery of Reform, AL; great-great-grandmother, Amanda Davis; great uncles, anuts and cousins and a host of relatives and friends; Godmothers, Marnita Dix and Tuwana Cook.

A funeral will be at Duane Jackson Mortuary chapel Saturday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Burial in City Cemetery, Alabama Street, Carrollton, Ga.

Mr. William C. Glozier Jr., 60, of Senoia, Ga., died September 7, 2003.

He was born March 15, 1943 to William C. Glozier Sr. and Margaret (Smith) Glozier.

A memorial service will be held at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Thursday, September 11 at 7 p.m.

Mr. Glozier was a yard man for Turin Block Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William Chris Glozier.

Surviving are wife, Charlotte Glozier of Senoia; sons and daughters-in-law, Erick and Jennifer Smith of Atlanta; Sean and Tonya Smith of Concord; daughters and son-in-law, Annita and Ricky Cavaletti of Locust Grove; Heather M. Mr. Frank Eugene Stanfield
Mr. Frank Eugene Stanfield, 58, of Newnan, Ga., died September 9, 2003 at his residence.

He was born November 7, 1944. He was a self-employed land scraper and a Navy veteran. He enjoyed deer hunting and all outdoor activities. He was preceded in death by his mother, Freddie Roach, and was born in Wilmington, Ohio.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon Rebecca (Becky) Armstrong Stanfield of Newnan; children, Carmen Stanfield of Newnan, Frank Stanfield of Austell, Fred Stanfield of Newnan, Jamie Estep of Villa Rica, Brandon Estep of Newnan; brother, Tom Roach of Olive Branch, Mississippi; sister, Judie Buell of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Stacy Stanfield, Stephanie Stanfield, Chad Stanfield , Bryce Stanfield, Jathan Estep, Jacob McIntosh.

A funeral is Friday, Sept. 12 at 3 p.m. at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel with Rev. Terry Calhoun and Rev. Allen Waldrop officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Brandon Estep, Jamie Estep, Fred Stanfield, Frank Stanfield, Bill Emling, Melvin Jackson, Tom Roach and David Steffens.

The family was receiving friends Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m. and will receive friends Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Mark Carlton Abercrombie
Mr. Mark Carlton Abercrombie, 55, of Newnan, Ga., died September 2, 2003 at Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Florida, from injuries sustained after being struck by a car.

He was born in 1948.

Among survivors are wife, Rose Abercrombie; son, Daniel Abercrombie; sister, Kay Jones; and brother, Dalen Abercrombie.

The remains were cremated.

Heritage Funeral Home, Panama City, Fla., was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nellie Meacham Cofield
Mrs. Nellie Meacham Cofield, 73, of Newnan, Ga., died September 7, 2003 at Corinth Road Assisted Living.

Mrs. Cofield was born Feb. 3, 1930 to James Paul and Sophie (Smith) McLendon.

A funeral was held Miracle Tabernacle Church Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. The family received friends Monday, Sept. 8, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Richard Clay officiated.

Pallbearers were Josh Ashley, Alan Meacham, Nicholas Copeland, Matt Copeland, Alan Dickinson, J. J. Rosser, and Montanze Whatley.

Mrs. Cofield was retired from Playtex. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Meacham in 1982; and by brothers J. P. McLendon and Ed Lee McLendon; and sister Nona Gordy.

Surviving are husband, J. T. Cofield; son and daughter-in-law, Dwight Alan and Juanita Meacham; daughters and sons-in-law, Pauline and Richard Clay, Pam and Dale Gilpin and Kathy Meacham; brother, Donald and Betty McLendon; sisters, Janette and Curtis Bradley, Mary and Harvey Heath; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ellen Pilgrim-Inman
Mrs. Frances "Ellen" Pilgrim-Inman, 72, of the Thomson, Ga. area, died Sept. 8, 2003 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Pilgrim and her parents, Charlie Smith and Iola Smith.

Surviving are her husband, Howard Inman; three sons, Phil Pilgrim (Sandi) of Newnan, Ga., Randy Pilgrim (Sonya) of Thomson, Ga., and Larron Pilgrim (Susan) of Thomson, Ga.; three sisters, Ethel Taylor, Hester Stewart and Martha Ann Stancil of S.C.; five grandchildren, Joshua Pilgrim, April Pilgrim, Brandon Pilgrim, Brice Pilgrim and Bryanna Pilgrim.

Mr. Inman was born in Six Mile, South Carolina, but lived most of her life in McDuffie County, Ga. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Mrs. Inman was retired from Thomson High School and had worked with Piggly Wiggly and Thomson Manor Nursing Home. She graduated Valedictorian of Six Mile High School in 1949.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel in Thomson, Ga., with Rev. Dave Sandridge officiating. Burial will be in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lorian English, Danny Pilgrim, Heath Pilgrim, Ronnie Pilgrim, Joe Stewart and Steve Stewart.

The family was receiving friends at the residence of Larron and Susan Pilgrim, 397 Meadowood Drive, N.E., Thomson and at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m.

Mr. Eugene S. Banks Jr.
Mr. Eugene S. Banks Jr., 70, formerly of Senoia, Ga., died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003 in his home near Climax Springs, Missouri.

He was born January 23, 1933 in Senoia, Ga., son of Eugene S. Banks Sr. and Fannie Kate Couch Banks. He was raised in Senoia and graduated from East Coweta High School in the Class of 1950. He entered the U.S. Air Force and served his country faithfully from September 1951 to September 1971. After retiring from the Air Force, he and Kathryn made their home in Alaska until moving to Climax Springs, Missouri, in 1996. In his spare time he enjoyed collecting coins and feeding wild animals. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed being with his children. He was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend.

He was married Oct. 20, 1961 to Kathryn Browning, and they had one son. His parents preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Kathryn, of the home; daughter, Petra Szemeredy and her husband, Michael of Tampa, Florida; son, David Banks and his wife Silvia of Climax Springs, Missouri; three brothers, Richard Banks of Georgia, Reginald Banks of Georgia, and Douglas Banks of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Wesley and walter Browning, both of Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends.

Services are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Lamar Barber Sr. died Sept. 4, 2003 at Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, Ga.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. at Sellers-Smith R. W. S. Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Willie Lee Geter officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers and flower ladies.

Mr. Barber was born April 18, 1936 in Newnan, Ga. He was the son of the late Mr. Alonzo (Pick) Barber and Mrs. Willie Mae Poindexter. He joined Providence Baptist Church at an early age. He attended schools in the Coweta County system and retired from William L Bonnell Company in Newnan after 35 years of service. He married Mrs. Julie Mae Barber July 27, 1957.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Virginia Copeland.

Surviving are wife, Mrs. Julie Mae Barber; sister, Mrs. Lunette Lazenby of Newnan, Ga.; ten children, Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Hall (Bernice) of Newnan, Mr. Lamar Barber Jr. of Newnan, Ms. Brenda Barber of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Penson (Priscilla) of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Barber (Patricia) of Senoia, Mr. Carl Barber of Newnan, Ms. Monique Barber of Newnan, Mr. and Mrs. Fredric Barber (Janet) of Scottdale, Ga., Mr. Cedric Barber of Newnan, and Ms. Judy Barber of Newnan; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Parthenia Crowder of Whitesburg, Ga. and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Price (Helen) of Decatur, Ga.; a special nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Poindexter of Maryland; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive visitors at their home at 28 Pinelea Drive, Newnan, Ga.

Family and friends are asked to assemble on the day of the service at the residence at noon.

Mrs. Mamie Kate Gates of Newnan, Ga., died September 6, 2003.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Newnan. The Rev. W. J. Johnson officiating, assisted by Rev. Jack Russell, Rev. Tony Stargell, Rev. Nathaniel Strickland, Evangelist Brenda Clark and Evangelist Inez Moreland. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. The remains will be placed in state at the church at 12:30 p.m.

Mrs. Gates was born Feb. 4, 1935 in LaGrange, Ga. to the late Jim Parks and Fannie Mae "Cedar" Cutwright.

She was married to the late Sylvester Gates Sr. and they had five children.

She was a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church. After moving to Newnan, she joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church where she sang in the senior and combined choirs. She was also a member of the UCCA Club and the Mother Board. She and her husband organized a family singing group called "The Gates Family." They traveled throughout Coweta County, Troup County and Alabama. At an earlier age she sang with The Silver Stars.

She was employed at Royal Molded Products (now Olsonite Corp.) from 1969 to 1992.

Mrs. Inetta Hill, 77, of Moreland, Ga., died Septemer 8, 2003 in Newnan.

Mrs. Hill was born August 15, 1926 in Atlanta, Ga.

A funeral will be at McKoon Funeral Home Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 6-8 p.m.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas E. Hill Sr.; sons, Thomas E. Hill Jr. of Decatur, Ga., Lamar and Kathy Hill of Dahlonega, Ga.; daughters, Debbie Gramling of Moreland, Ga. and Susan and Edward (Hill) McMichael of Moreland, Ga.; grandchildren, Shannon Hill, Ariel Rawls Hill, Amy Smith, Justin McMichael, Stacy McMichael, Jeff and Tracy Bardugon, Matthew Gramling and Peyton Smith.
